My daughter stayed at the hotel and we joined her for dinner. We sat outside with the wonderful view on a lovely evening. She confirmed that they understood she had a nut allergy. When the desert arrived she was suspicious about the topping. I tasted it, definitely nuts. It was returned to the kitchen. We were all obviously anxious. The waitress offered free coffee as an apology. When I said we would have the free coffee she said it was only 1 free coffee for my daughter. When she came to check out the next morning the receptionist made a point of saying that she had received a free beverage. We had averted a medical emergency and she was expected to be grateful for a free coffee! Not good enough Royal Duchy. More customer service training required for staff in the kitchen, waiting on and at reception.

The chef appears to know the right balance between fine dining and healthy food - just right for my plebian tastes. BUT, what stood out was the great service. After dismal service in the north and in London, it was great to find servers who managed to be attentive with out being obsequious. Great job, people,.

Sunday lunch. Pros - great dining room, lovely white table clothes, attentive service. Good starters, cheese and sweets. But let down by stewed watery vegetables - guess not a vitamin in these at all. Tough beef, overcooked dry roast potatoes. Overly rich gravy. Dry Bread slices placed on table rather than choosing bread from a basket. We have been coming here over last ten years and it’s hit a low (but admittedly from a very high bar) . For £35 per person.

Easter Sunday lunch for £35. Service was excellent. Had sea bass, was very bland. Starter had salmon terrine, very dry. Dessert was the best. Dark chocolate tart with marmalade ice cream, was delicious. Although it cost only £35 per person, expected more as it advertised as Michelin star. Was disappointed for Easter.

We booked for Sunday lunch with a friend and were very disappointed to sit at a scratched table with no cloths on it. When I rang to book I specifically asked if the restaurant had cloths as knew the bar didn’t. I was told yes. The waitress said that it was due to Covid! Why? The food was ok but only one choice of meat, beef, and the deserts were very poor. Ice cream in scoops, a chocolate torte or cheese. I expected a lot more from the Duchy hotel and was so glad it wasn’t for a celebration. It was also chilly. So many better places in Falmouth to have a Sunday roast. Many local pubs do a far better lunch in a more homely setting. Would not come again - sorry.

A group of us dined at The Royal Duchy Hotel for pre Xmas Lunch at the beginning of Dec quite enjoyable food cooked very well though not enough veg on the table for 8 people so had to ask for more though only received extra carrots & brussel sprouts & not any extra parsnips or red cabbage which we would have preferred The -- starter & dessert quite enjoyable We did not stay overnight at The Hotel so not sure of all their facilities available

Enjoyed Sunday lunch in Pendents Restaurant September 2018. Chose roast beef (pork, stone bass and veggie option also available). Meal included beautifully cooked carrots, broccoli and sugar snap peas with roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings followed up with Eton Mess and Parfait yogurt and ice-cream. Dining area was immaculate. It was very, very busy - we estimated 60+ diners but the service was faultless so main course, desserts, bottle of malbec wine and water plus coffee totalled just £65 for two. Great service as well.

This is a lovely venue for any occasion. You can drop in anytime & have anything from a cup of tea, to high tea & presecco. The joy of being able to sit ouside on the terrace when the weather is fine, to sitting comfortably in the lounge when its inclement.

We had visited this restaurant when our son started university when it was very good but what a difference three years can make! We decided to book the restaurant to celebrate our son's graduation and could not believe the deterioration in the quality of the food and service. Apart from acceptable starters, the food was bland, nondescript and over priced. My sons were quite amused that steak was still served with gloopy gravy, although I am sure that would come under the guise of 'jus'. There were plenty of waiters on hand, in fact so much so that they seemed determined to remove our plates even when some of us were not finished eating. After receiving so much initial attention it was ironic that we then could not attract anyone's attention to secure the bill. I eventually got up and asked the Maitre D, who then did not appear with the bill. After 15 minutes my husband got up and paid at the bar - though he was tempted just to walk out.

I booked lunch today for a group of four for Sunday lunch , informing the hotel that one of the party was allergic to garlic , we duly arrived for lunch and sat at our table , lunch menu clearly stated garlic free for my guest , who ordered accordingly, happened to be roast pork , it arrived dry , asked for some garlic free gravy !!!! Wow what an ordeal for a four star hotel , asked for the manger who came And apologised, one would have thought a simple task not so for my guest . Or this four star hotel . Also my wife who happened to be vegetarian had her melon serve with Waite for it ham on it had to go back . Not a good lunch I am afraid , discount free coffee , I have no complaints about the staff or ambiance of the hotel ,just the Lunch . Rating based on lunch only

The Royal Duchy Hotel is one of the Brend group of Hotels, so an excellent quality venue to stay of just for tea or dinner. Situated directly on the front overlooking the beach, with fantastic views out over the ocean. You always know what to expect from any of the Hotels in this group, you are always assured of a high quality room with great food and wonderful friendly staff, that can not do enough to make you stay memorable. Having, over the years stayed in many of their hotels the standard has never wavered, and I have never been disappointed. The only criticism with this 10m day stay was that we were never offered an al `a carte menu , which has not happened at any others. However we would thoroughly recommend any of this groups hotels down in the West Country.

If you want to escape the crowds in the town and relax in beautiful surroundings this is the place to go. You are welcomed by a smile by the very friendly concierge and the dining room is in warm welcoming tones with fabulous views of the sea.We were there for Sunday lunch which although not the best was adequate. The broccoli soup which my husband ordered was absolutely tasteless and they took it back without any fuss and replaced it with smoked salmon. The bread basket offered brown bread but I didn't recognise any brown bread but took what the waitress pointed to as being brown (off white) I would have preferred a dense brown loaf especially as no bread was served with the smoked salmon. The shoulder of lamb was as you would expect, meltingly tender but the beef although generously cut could have been better. The mange tout were left with the string on - who wants a mouthful of indigestible string, we didn't have dessert. The wine list is very comprehensive and was the perfect temperature. The service is impeccable and does feel like a traditional old English Hotel from a by gone era. The sun came out after a rainy morning so we finished off our wine on the deck chairs overlooking the sea then returned to the lounge for coffee. This is a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The lounge was full as they were serving afternoon tea and the weather wasn't that warm but the terrace is beautiful with decent comfortable furniture on a good day. My rating reflects the service and location rather than the food.

We were intending to go to a local pub for Sunday lunch but decided instead to give the Royal Duchy a try as we had heard good reports. Wow what a great decision that was. We sat in the restuarant rather than the bar and had waiter service. We went for the two course menu which had a good choice of starters amd mains at an unbelievable £14.95!! The food and attentive service was excellent in a lovely restuarant with great sea views. We had coffee afterwards on the Terrace watching the world go by. What great value for money this menu is.

The Royal Duchy Hotel is in a top spot in Falmouth. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday Roast lunch at the restaurant, overlooking the stunning Falmouth Bay with views to Pendennis Castle. Today the bay was bathed in glorious sunshine, making the sea a glorious bright turquoise/blue. We had a drink on the terrace and watched all the yachts sailing on the water before going inside for our lunch. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and we felt it was very good value. We had a very pleasant experience and would recommend the restaurant.

We were invited to attend the Pendennis Cup Final Day by the Royal Duchy Hotel Falmouth. We booked a table on the Terrace and arrived just after 9.30 a.m.for bacon sandwiches and toast. After a brisk walk in Falmouth we returned back to the Hotel for a coffee. By this time the tables had all been set and named so we prepared for pre lunch drinks and then lunch. By this time the sea was full of yachts and super yachts. We had a really super lunch, followed by coffee. At 3.30 pm we were treated to a fantastic display from the Red Arrows which was carried out in front of the Hotel. This was due to one of the owners of a super yacht who was staying in the Hotel. What a super day. We enjoyed it so much we are going to do it again for the TallShips. Well done Royal Duchy.

Instead of the usual haunts for Sunday lunch we decided to visit the Royal Duchy for their winter special deal. Until the end of March they are offering a three course Sunday lunch including a bottle of wine for £16.95. A bottle of wine is offered for each two guests. There was a good choice of starters, mains and deserts and all were delicious. My wife had a salmon terrine starter and I had a tasty beetroot and warm goats cheese salad. For the main course my wife had the roast chicken as she wanted rare beef but it was all well cooked she changed her mind. I had the Cornish seafood stew which was one of the nicest fish meals I have had in a long time. To finish, my wife had a warm bread and butter pudding with ice cream and I, the cheese board, chutney and oat cakes. The red wine we were offered was Italian. It wouldn't win any prizes but it was very acceptable for a complimentary bottle. The Terrace restaurant is at the front of the hotel and has a view over Falmouth harbour. If it hadn't been blowing a gale outside then it would have been a lovely view. However it was warm and inviting inside and the staff were friendly and professional in their black uniforms with crisp white shirts and blouses. On delivery of the main courses it is done with a little bit of theatre when they remove the domed metal covers from over the plates all at he same time. A nice touch and that is what this is all about. It is nice to pop to the pub for Sunday lunch but sometimes it is nice to dress up and have a little style. A perfect Sunday lunch on a windswept rainy day.It would have been given a five rating if they had had some rare beef on offer for my wife.

We booked for lunch on the Sunday and had a very nice traditional roast beef. The food was very nice and the service was excellent. I was amazed at all the different nationalities that served us in the few hours we were there (Egyptian, Swedish, Polish) I couldn't fault the service it was top notch and the Egyptian waiter was absolutely lovely which is more than can be said for the restaurant manager who was very aloof.

my friend an i stopped in to Duchy Hotel Falmouth for afternoon tea . there was a wedding party going on an noticed the remains of the afternoon tea buffet. we ordered afternoon tea which did not seem to go down to well with the waiter, maybe he was tired from the wedding but what came to us was leftover sandwiches and cakes from the weddings. the sandwiches were so dried out they were curling up at the ends and the cakes were also dried out . What a disappointment from a better hotel . will go somewhere else in future.

The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
