Quite possibly the best pint of Hooky in The Cotswolds is served right here. Go for the beer, stay for the brewery.

An old traditional busy village pub with a great selection of beers. No meals but there's range of bar snacks available at lunchtime. The Malthouse kitchen is just up the road at the brewery for breakfast and lunch. Other pub in the village, The Sun, does evening meals apparently. My wife and booked in for two nights as it was handy for the brewer tour we had come to do. Lovely comfortable and large room, we were in North. 1 but did get to see the other two rooms. Only issue was the printer in the office downstairs making noise now and again. Will come back sometime.

We stayed at the Pear Tree Inn because it was just five minutes walk to and from the Hook Norton Brewery and allowed us to sample the Brewery's beer without needing to drive. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room comfortable. It is a small and wecoming inn with a good selection of Hook Norton beers on tap.

We booked into this pub for three nights to attend a concert at Blenheim and visit with family who were staying in the area. When we booked (last year) we were sure food was offered in the evening, with the understanding that breakfast was available at a discounted rate at the Malthouse Kitchen at the Hook Norton Brewey down the road. Firstly, no food available in the premises but a kebab van was in the car park in the Saturday afternoon when we arrived. Welcome was less that satisfactory, young person behind bar was chewing gum and we got no hello or welcome, we advised we had a room booked for three nights, they used the bar tablet and informed us and the rest of the bar that there was an outstanding balance of £xxx to be paid now…asked to see room based on having read reviews before we arrived and when we were begrudgingly shown we asked about the breakfast discounts and told no stopped doing them in December. Informed them that we’d booked in December via booking.com and their list stated discount on breakfast available. Informed they’d find out, never did find out. Stayed in room 1 which was large, clean and over looking the garden and above the barrel store. Yes noisy when pub open due to clicking of pipes and cooling system but we couldn’t hear the bar from our room. A fully locals bar which was evident in the way we were served our drinks and responded too and how the locals were met with smiles etc. a few training sessions in customer service is needed. When we asked where to leave the key when we left we were met with a shrug of the shoulders and a noncommittal response of “yeah behind the bar? I’m new so not sure..” Positive: good bar prices for a draft beer, good sized beer garden. Negatives: No food, and staff a little less than friendly

Old brewery pub for Hook Norton brewery. Big bedroom nice bed only problem was above cellar by sounds of it. So got the cellar noise off cooler and clicking off the larger pumps. Nice pub smallish. Definitely no food apart from crisps. And definitely no breakfast included. If you want breakfast you go to the brewery cafe. And no you don’t get a discount for staying in the pub.

This is the original pub owned by Hook Norton Brewery. Named after a pear tree growing up the wall. The second pear tree was planted in the 1960s. Hence two pear trees today. The beer as you would expect is top notch. Expected it to be a flagship establishment as the original Hook Norton Brewery pub especially with its location close to the brewery, but it's not.

This is an excellent British pub. I drove down from Sutton Coldfield on this particular Saturday and came across this pub, as I was hungry I decided to stop for a bite to eat. A proper home made delicious pizza was the order of the day, tasty warm and filling it was. Not only that this pub is not like most pubs these days it has its own character and not one of these numerous 'Theme' pubs we all visit. You can tell by the devoted and friendly locals and the very welcoming greeting you get from the ever present landlady. Visit this pub, you will not regret it. Phillip Dews

I first stayed at The Pear Tree in August 2006 and it was superb. Roll forward to my second stay in December 2022 and you have to wonder what on earth has happened. Our rooms were excellent, I have no complaints whatsover about them and would stay there again. But, the pub iitself has become tired and tatty, it was a real shock when I walked through the door this time. We were told by somebody in the village that it was "in limbo - between tennants" but imho the Hook Norton Brewery really should step in here and sort it ASAP, after all it is pretty much the Brewery Tap! It just needs decorating (not modernising) but returned to its former glory with pictures on the wall, horse brasses etc the sort of thing you expect to see in an old country pub.

Quirky.... Lovely rooms, very tidy and freshly renovated. Very small bar area, not serving food (pizza oven Thur, Fri, Saturday.), but good selection of local beers. Polite staff and cozy atmosphere, large rear garden with undercover seating. Seemingly large kitchen and store rooms, which is strange in this day an age, not to be put to better use serving food, especially breakfast and even light bite bar food. Would I stay again, definitely.

Stayed in village of Hook Norton and whilst on way to the Brewery came across this pub so stopped for a drink. Very dark inside and very dated and had a very depressing atmosphere. We took our drinks outside to the rear of property as it was a nice day . A very large out door area with plenty of seating. There was a wonderful new wooden modern construction that served pizzas. But unfortunately the rest of the garden needed some desperate TLC. It could be lovely as it is in such a lovely location and is large and has loads of scope. It generally needed tidying up and some old tat getting rid of. Nice quiet space though. Staff were friendly and the young lad serving pizzas was really polite. We shared a pizza and they were gorgeous they need to monopolise on this venue

Just what a country pub should be: set in a beautiful village; picturesque on the outside; welcoming and full of character on the inside; happy and friendly staff, who very much want to be there; great selection of craft beers from the village brewery, plus any other drink you could want; and, finally, a large beer garden with a tented area and plenty of tables and benches. We had a reunion of three old friends, one from Canada. The pub serves a good selection of pizzas. There are three double rooms, each is beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds. Many congratulations to Maxine, the manager, and all of the staff. Highly recommended.

This pub has a beautiful exterior, aesthetically pleasing to the visitor. There’s a small car park situated on it’s right side but not big enough to equip for all of their guests. Walking through the actual tavern can be uncomfortable when customers are just sat drinking. The team do offer to take your bags to your room for you though and they did make us feel welcome. Our room was beautiful, it had a large king-sized bed, sofa bed and en-suite bathroom- photos to attach at the end of the review. The room was very clean, besides some dust on top of surfaces, there was also a full bin of litter which did let down the full standard. The facilities of the room I would expect to be better for the price of the stay, the bathroom door did not lock, the plug in the sink did not softly open or close causing blockages, some of the walls had cracked paint or even gaps and the lamp shades were dated and dirty. All of that was upon closer inspection. Your room provides you with towels and modern furnishings- the room that we selected did anyway. We had a pleasant view over the beer garden outside; there you can purchase pizzas and special food dishes up until a certain time, those meals are listed in the bar on the chalk board, the end time of the food serving was 5pm on our day of visit, that food tuck shop was later replaced with a van of Indian cuisine. We chose to eat further up the hill at the nearby pub for more of a meal selection and alternative. Drinking downstairs in the bar was relaxed and seemed to be a popular choice for locals, the team working there were pleasant. The beds in the room were comfortable and provided a good quality night’s sleep, you don’t however get a cooked breakfast the following morning, we also didn’t receive a breakfast voucher as we left fairly early the following day. For the price of the room I would expect some form of breakfast package or at least recommendation upon arrival. We vacated through the empty closed bar, past the 9am mark. We realised that we weren’t given any contact information for a team member should we have required anything through our stay, there were no fire escape routes listed on the back of doors in our room.
