Basic, but perfectly acceptable, pub food in a boring corporate dining room. It will fill you up but it certainly won't excite to the palate.

This is a lovely hotel tucked away just off J6 of the M5. Situated in the country it was nice and quiet. The rooms were pleasant and spacious with all the usual facilities. The staff were pleasant and most accommodating. A special word of praise here for the ubiquitous Colin for whom nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. One point I would make is that the menu was fairly limited. A greater choice would add to the hotel's lustre. I would certainly stay again.

Arrived at midday to meet with family for lunch prior to check in at 3pm to find that they had no chef and no-one even able to produce sandwiches. Not a great start to our stay. No issues at all with the bedroom and pleasing to have more than one chair to sit on between us. Food in the evening was fine but not exceptional but one of our party was intolerant to dairy which caused issues. Breakfast again was fine but not exceptional and the continental selection limited. The highlight was that all the staff were pleasant and helpful throughout.

Our base for two nights whilst enjoying the delights of Worcestershire. Very clean and comfortable room although decor a little tired. Friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent evening meal with two superb starters - Halloumi Chips and the Camembert they were large portions leaving my wife struggling to then eat her main course! Certainly no room for a desert. Minor point - no shaver plug in the room.

Super venue, good food & service, ruined by crass function management. Attended a social function of some fifty persons as a guest of the host society. Everything going well, sufficient bar staff, good selection of drinks, going well that is until the food arrived or in some cases didn't arrive. Starters were late as accepted by a staff member. Pre plated meals arrived, looked and tasted good But at least people in the room were left totally unattended with no sign of a main course. The waiting staff were conspicuous by their absence. Staff eventually located by my hosts organiser. It appeared that there was a problem with the fish-they hadn't got any. The function manager who appeared to have a language problem seemed reluctant to approach the diners and it was left to my hosts organiser to negotiate alternative choices. Turkey or nut roast-I don't think so. Reluctantly compromise was reached. On our table we had finished before one poor diner had even received her meal. The disastrous evening continued, coffee was good. I see from the TA reviews that the last time that I attended a function at this location that I was similarly unimpressed. Now I have only written three poor reviews in all my time on TA. For the Pear Tree to get two of these must be a record. I have learnt my lesson & will not be returning to The Pear Tree. Let's hope that The Pear Tree learns it's lesson & deals with this serious issue.

It appears that this hotel is mainly used for conferences and weddings parties, if your after a peaceful retreat in the county dont book this hotel . Party guests were loud and noisy up to 4am , the hotel is very dated, very uncomfortable single beds, the shower is far too low on the bathroom wall you have to bend to get your head under the shower , will not be returning to this hotel

The reviews of the pear tree are pretty standard and this will be no different. The communal areas and the room I stayed in were in bed of refurbishment somewhat. A little damp here, peeling all paper there. Was it terrible? No, but it needs some attention sooner rather than later to being it up to standard. Currently I’d call it quirky both the layout of the building, rooms but also the way they do things. The food was actually ok, not special but hot and relatively tasty. The breakfast was pretty good too except for the tepid coffee and the waitress forgetting my hash brown. Drinks about as expensive as would be expected. The parrot did t. Other me at all, quite fun actually I’d return as it’s ideally suited for my needs but I’d know what to expect and if I were paying £110 of my own money I might just look around for sometime better. Even a light refurb would do wonders to lift this place

The hotel was rather tired and old fashioned an in need of some revamping and decorating in parts. However the room was very comfortable and clean. The location was lovely, the staff helpful and friendly but because of the size of the building and decor, rather lacking in atmosphere. Despite this the food was surprisingly good, especially the chocolate desserts. The cooked breakfast was fresh and tasty, obviously straight from cooker to plate.

I came here for a family wedding I just can’t tell you how fantastic everything was! The food you provided was amazing the potato dish was to die for and the pulled beef was cooked to perfection! During the day everything was so well organised and went really well. We stayed in the hotel. Our room was lovely! Unfortunately we had a cold shower despite getting in it at 8:30am on a sun mornin... we also woke up to ants all over our desk which was a bit of a nuisance. Apart from that the room was lovely and comfortable the beds were great unfortunately I didn’t find the extra pillow until I was leaving the room however I used the cushion and all was good! At breakfast it was delicious my only comment has to unfortunately be about the hospitality provided from the breakfast waitress everything seemed like it was too much trouble for her whether she was just having a bad mornin or not I’m not sure however the food was delicious and it was a help yourself style buffet. Hot and cold.

It was our wedding anniversary on Sunday and been as we got married at the pear tree we thought it would be nice to go for a drink. On arrival there were a few cars on the car park but it was very quiet. We went into the bar and waited and waited and waited....nobody came to serve us so I decided to have a walk to see if I could find somebody. I went into the hotel reception and it was empty with a note saying call 0 for service. I picked the phone up but it didn't work. So i cammed the hotel from my mobile and it went to a mobile answer phone. I left a message saying we had waited for 15 to 20 minutes to be served and we left. A real disappointment and probably never go back

I have been to several functions at the Pear Tree so decided to take my mother for Sunday lunch to celebrate her birthday. The Sunday lunch menu offered several options for starters, lunch and dessert. I have eaten at numerous locations both in this Country and abroad. This was the best value for money (£15 p.p) that I have tasted in a long while. All dishes were beautifully prepared, presented and tasted wonderful. The service was excellent. My compliments to the Chef and staff. Will be recommending to all my friends

Stayed here for a night whilst working in the area. Plenty of parking. Polite receptionist. My room was more of a suite really, separate sitting area and bedroom. It was very dated and tired. The net curtains were stained and torn, as were the curtains. The windows didn’t open properly......or close. The bathroom was mouldy and seemed a bit grubby. Dinner was ok. Limited menu, but something for most people. It took ages to arrive though. Breakfast was a limited cold buffet and hot food cooked to order. The hot food was nice. However, a very noisy parrot lived in the dining room, it screeched all through breakfast and there was parrot poo all over one of the chairs. Classy. It was ok for one night, glad I wasn’t paying out of my own pocket.

Stayed here for a friends wedding party and had a great time once we were there - spacious rooms, good breakfast and pleasant staff. However the booking process left a very bad taste in my mouth and tarnished the whole experience. Our friends had a block booking of rooms and told us to call to reserve one of the rooms - I rang around 4 times and each time was told something different for availability and cost - the final cost was £85 for a bedroom with 1 x adult and 2 x children under the age of 3. Upon arrival I was then told that the room would cost £100 as it was a triple and included breakfast. Fine if this was for 3 adults but both children were under the age of 3 so I thought this was totally unreasonable. Being told that this included breakfast didn't wash either - are you really telling me that a 2 and 3 year old eat as much as an adult?! In addition to this, the air conditioning did not work and I was unable to have the windows open for fear that my 2 year old may try to climb out. The receptionist on the day said that she would email her manager to see if we could get a partial refund on the room, 3 x phone calls later, again being told different things each time, I still don't have that refund and nobody has had the courtesy to call me back. So a word of advice - NEVER book this hotel over the phone - the staff clearly don't communicate and will use this to rip you off. At least via email/booking websites, the cost is clearly logged in writing.

I attended and well organised Charity Christmas ball event, however the service at The Pear Tree has not improved this was very poor. The service was very much thin to say the least. The evening kicked off a 7pm people were still waiting to be served with meals at 10 pm. There were entertainment but this could not start until all the food service was finished therefore 10 pm was very late. Our table eventually receive soup then to wait for bread rolls where other table had received bread rolls before the soup. This clearly was a shambles there was no plan or training of staff. Considering the charity had booked this room and the amount of people who turned out to this event, you would have thought the Hotel would have staffed up to cater for this event. There were only 2 people serving behind the bar. The hotel should not take on other parties if they cannot cater for another party in another room. Clearly this was the case with this event there was no one on reception because all the staff were flat out due to not enough staff. This clearly has not improved since my last visit here. The room and the atmosphere is very nice and a great place for a venue however the staff service shortage lets it down very much. The quality of the food was reasonable but again the service lets it all down. This stopped the event from listening to the entertainment from performing till later and reducing the dancing time etc. A little bit of a let down really REQUIRE MORE STAFF when a big event like this is planned along with another party in the other room.

Myself and my husband had our wedding reception here on the 6th October 2017. Our day as a whole was absolutely fantastic and I can not say thankyou enough to Rochelle and the team at The Pear Tree for making everything go to plan so perfectly! Rochelle could not do enough for us, and checked in with us regularly before the date and then at various points throughout the day to check that we were happy and if we required anything else. We stayed in the bridal suite, and family and friends from our party also stayed overnight, all of which have since said that they were very happy with their stay and the service provided. Having partied the night away but also having a young baby myself and my husband were down for breakfast right before it ended, and the staff were great, I didn’t feel rushed at all. Overall I had a lovely experience here , I would definitely recommend and am hoping to return for a nights stay (baby free) in the future.

Well done to the Pear Tree staff, we are now going to try the evening meals asap. What a shame only two other diners with us, it used to be so popular. Well the new staff and food have our vote.

We had a drink and another party of 8 went in before us after 20 mins chatting we went through and sat down. The menu looked good and the food that was brought out to another table was encouraging. However, the service was terrible, if the place had been bursting at the seams I could understand it but there was only 16 of us in the restaurant and then another couple came in. Food took ages to come, then came out with at least 5 mins in between the others. Once we had all got our meals the vegetables took 15 mins before it came onto the table. Went here with work collagues for our xmas lunch. There was the option of either 2 or 3 courses, the latter being £16 ish which i thought was really good. Parsnip soup was nice and i was surprised by the butternut squash Wellington meal which had around 5 roast potatoes with it, along with parsnip, carrot and sprouts. In fact this is definately the best xmas meal ive had so far this year..but ive titled this review as a mixed bag.Being a large party we had a copy of what we had ordered and as the desserts came out we appeared to have too many cheesecakes. The xmas puddings came out and then no further puddings ..2 of us still waiting. When staff were asked about this someone appeared with..yep..the slice of cheesecake again..but this time stated that all the xmas pudding had gone and furthermore practically blamed one of my colleagues on eating my pudding!!We checked our spreadsheet and only those who requested it got it..bar one.. me.. I honestly didnt see how they could mess up on this..but they did. Hence the average grade ive given it.Saying that i did try the cheesecake which was vanilla with a raspberry sauce and it didnt have much taste at all.

We stayed overnight for a wedding and reception. The room was large clean and comfortableThe wedding venue was adequate and the reception room well prepared. The wedding dinner was simple but tastyLack of organisation showed following the dinner. There was a second event occurring in another part of the hotel. Our wedding was at 4pm but by 8pm the bar had run out of draft beer, many spirits, and the bottled beer left was also in short supply. The pleasant bar staff were clearly embarrassed having to reply to all requests 'sorry we've run outThe following morning, the wedding party were split for breakfast, we (four) and several others were seated in a separate room from the bride and groom. We were with the bride's father. Our table was not properly set up. No side plates, butter condiments or menu. One punnet of marmalade between us. All questions reference tea, coffee etc were met with the reply "coming". Dining room staff were all very young, foreign and clearly without supervisory direction. Tea and coffee were served in cups, ie. no pots. Any refills required one of us having to find a member of staff and request refills there being no table attendance. Toast was self service, but we weren't advised of this and had to search for the toaster which was in a separate room, no plates available on which to carry the toast and only a few slices of bread available. No fresh fruit juice was available, only very sweet fruit squash. After 45 minutes I went to enquire the arrival of our breakfasts and with a shrug of her shoulders, the waitress said "others before"The breakfast when it did arrive was excellent, but did little to assuage the whole negative impression of the event.Unlikely to revisit and certainly no chance of booking an event

We were told there was only one chef on duty & seemingly only one member of staff running the whole of the front of house - serving behind the bar, taking food orders & delivering meals. What a little star!! Think her name was Danielle - she provided an outstanding service throughout the evening. The food was delicious and plentiful. Couldn't fault my fish & chips. Drinks were a reasonable price & the house Sauvignon Blanc very pleasant . Considering the service team was so limited that night they got the meals away at virtually the same time so that the group could dine together. Well done.

The lounge bar was woefully understaffed, it took an hour to get two coffees. The party night service was much better but the food in my opinion was not, the sprouts could of been used as squash balls, the carrots were audibly crunchy and there was not more than a tablespoonful of gravy. Christmas pudding was a 1/4 inch slice of a very small pudding with a sauce splashed over it. If I served people with food of this standard I would not expect to see them again. The bar was very limited, one bottle of most spirits but no choice.Overall a disappointing night.

My colleagues and I chose the Pear tree to hold our Christmas party the organiser there Tracie was very good and help. she really understood how much it was a pain to organise and collect money from your colleagues at short notice. she was very help and not pushy she reservered our places until all the funds were collected. However the evening itself seemed a little dis organised although there were many companies on this evening food was a long time serving. the waiting staff had flights of stairs to go up and down to collect your food. The food was really nice and prepared lovely however we had some complaints on our table about the Christmas pudding slice. This was very small indeed and looked very poor compared to the other selections on offer. The organisation for tea and coffee after the meal was very poor too with no milk available and by the time the milk came from one of the staff the coffees were cold. The entertainment disco was also poor it was like having a juke box in the corner or having an ipod on shuffle playing random songs. The so called DJ never spoke once or acknowledged it was Christmas event the music he played was just old party songs from the time he started playing to the time he finished he only played to tunes that was in the current chart. The music certainly didn't cater for everyone very poor selection in DJ Pear tree !!!Bar staff was overworked sometimes 2 people sometime 3 but considering the amount of people within this party there wasn't enough staff behind the bar so much so people were going into the other party rooms to get served quicker. All round disappointed considering the very nice food and the facility these areas could do with being improved to make it a very good evening.

We enjoyed a three course meal, breakfast, buffet and a Wedding Breakfast at the Pear Tree and were impressed with all of these. The food was of a high quality and there was something that everyone enjoyed. Particular favorites for me were the profiteroles and tomato and basil soup from the wedding meal and the gressingham duck from the three course meal. A couple of points which bring it down from 5 stars are that the scrambled egg on the morning was very creamy and rich which although delicious was a bit hard to stomach so early in the day, and the lemon tart was sweet and did not have the classic zing of lemon. Otherwise very impressive.

Main course was very tasty, I had beef and my partner had chicken. We then both settled for the cheeseboard. This took nearly 35 minutes to arrive and only consisted of a selection of three cheeses, also the celery was missing. Not good value for the price, over £6 each. The waiter was very attentitive, however he could not solve any of the issues, mainly the cold. My advice, visit on a warm sunny day, unless they get the heating fixed and prepare for a long wait.

The menu is really nice with something for everyone. Fish, steak, vegetarian meals. I had the gammon from the grill menu; it was delicious, a proper real gammon steak with chunky chips.

We ate here the night before our wedding, and the food was absolutely beautiful. It was presented nicely and tasted wonderful. It is definitely worth the price!!A member of our party had the steak pie, and there was that much meat in it, the pie was a meal in itself.......I had the salmon, which was really tasty, it was a nice light meal, but enough for you to feel like you had eaten.service in the restaurant was very efficient and friendly. We weren't made to feel rushed, but allowed time to enjoy our meal at our own pace. We will definitely be returning for food here in the future.

We visited the Pear Tree as part of a large group for a set 3 course dinner. Despite the reputation of the hotel, the buildings and grounds, upon which thousands of pounds have been spent, we felt that the price of £22 was very expensive for the quality of the food served and the dining experience. You obviously pay above the average as the hotel gives the impression it aspires to Michelin star status and nothing could be further from the truth. You expect the quality of the cooking and the food to be high, but actually it is definitely below par - as if a large number of diners dilutes the experience which a couple would receive. The 2 young staff members worked hard but they were overstretched and the dinner needed at least 4 helpers. Several members of our group asked for coffee at the end but this request was ignored and they never came. This served to reinforce the opinion that the Pear Tree simply pretends to be a high class restaurant. We would not recommend it and if you read the Trip Advisor reviews, we are not alone.

I attended a recent wedding there as an evening guest. A beautiful venue... From the outside. But when we went in it was a struggle to get served at the bar as it's quite small for the size of the room and amount of guests attending. We ended up going to a bar around the corner and getting served quicker. The evening buffet was ok, nothing amazing. My advice don't choose the chicken was too juicy/fatty.

This place is ideally situated for a wedding reception - excellant building and lovely grounds for a photo shoot but be not excited at this if you are expecting the quality of food one would expect from this sort of establishment.I suspect that the management badly short changed the wedding party at which I was honoured to attend. It was obvious that there was a gross shortage of staff, the food was poor and certainly did not meet up to its description. The reception started 1 hour late, the time between courses was rediculously long, The tea/coffee at the end was missing and staff were unable to speak with us with respect to complaints. The failure of the establishment to provide what was supposed to be their "diamond package" was plain for all to see. It was noted that guests had to set up the overhead projecture equipment (contrary, no doubt, to health and safety regulations) and the promised loop system to enable deaf guests to hear was not connected as agreed. It was also noted that another wedding reception was taking place at the same time and that the waiting staff were the same!!Fortunately, the love towards the newly weds helped the event go well but the meal aspect left a lot to be desired and was extremely disappointing. My advice to any reading this is "do not use this place for a meal of any sort. It is obvious customers are charged the maximum for the minimum!"

Where do I begin......my son had his wedding here and upon arrival the hotel looks pleasant enough. We headed into the hotel and I wanted to use the loo....omg....such a really bad smell as you entered......drainage.....anyway wedding went on. The wedding breakfast was the worst ever....small piece of chicken that was anaemic looking on the outside, carrots were vile and over cooked, other veg hard......with a tiny tiny bit of gravy...one if the wedding guests had to send theirs back because there was blood running through their chicken. I feel sick just thinking about it now. Anyway...a hog roast was booked for the evening.......omg are they having a laugh......the smell was horrendous...quite a few people had one but only took a mouthful....surprise surprise the pork was off.....it was really bad. Bride and groom ordered it to be taken away....and they were offered some sandwiches.....nobody touched it. Hotel said they would refund the money for this......have to say it really is a poor poor hotel....please don't book your wedding here.....you will regret it.

As mentioned in my review of the hotel we ate here on our first night, but never again. The food as adequate at best and over priced for what it was. The service was not the best and the staff could benefit from some training on how to interact with customers. Must improve a lot before I would visit again.

Well, we have been here many times but rarely had such a lovely meal at lunch time, in the conservatory. The set menu was adapted to suit our dietary needs ably, and without any fuss. It was very reasonably priced too. The food was better than previously, nicely presented and very tasty. Everyone was obliging and courteous and we were well looked after; our coffees were 'complimentary! A very good lunch out. :)

Having enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch with a group of friends last year we were looking forward to repeating the experience, alas this was not the case. There were 21 in our party & we were seated in a very cold feeling room devoid of any atmosphere or character. The menu options were ok(ish) with most of us settling for the carvery (choice limited to beef or gammon only) selection of vegetables was quite poor & lukewarm served on cold plates.service was not very attentive & for the main part ignored in our "special room". My starter was a terrine of chicken which in itself was quite nice but the accompanying crisp bread was so hard I thought my jaw power must be diminished however it even resisted the attention of my knife. I informed the waiter of this when he eventually returned & he did say he would inform the kitchen however nothing more heard.on finishing the meal with approx half having a pudding no one asked if we would like coffee which apart from being good service practice is surely a profit opportunity missed so we didn't bother. The experience was close to complaining level, needless to say the concensus of our group was that we would not be returning any time soon.

Went for a meal recently and to be honest was disappointed, has decent reviews, yet let itself down.restaurant feels dated and tables regimented.Quite slow service, given only 8 people in the restaurant, it seemed to be more important to look after the one guy who was kicking off about his meal than everyone else, to the extent that I was on the verge of complaining.Nice food but not terribly atmospheric, as with many places the meal itself at a decent price, but vastly overpriced wine.perhaps if they concentrated on doing one cuisine well rather than trying to do English, Italian, Greek and indian, they food would improve.

Attended a function with about 90 others. Usual scrum at the bar, yet there were two other bars in adjacent rooms which were not "announced" Wine order table was unattended & after searching the premises we were eventually served most efficiently.Sound system was about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike-which is not acceptable for a function room & the AC/heating was not working-not good on a March evening, when the temperature outside was below freezing.Pity really because apart from the tasty but luke warm soup & shortage of vegetables the food was good.Service appeared to be haphazard with the supervisor standing in the middle of the room, directing traffic like a one armed policeman.Oh and by the way-the self service coffee ran out.Didn't leave with a warm glow. This hotel is one if those places that lingers for ever in the repository of fondly remembered places that once touched our hearts. The food is surely among the most delicious and nutritious that ever was served to a weary and famished traveller. The welcome afforded to same is the welcome of the parched earth to the sweet rain; the welcome of the injured gazelle to the slavering maws of the king of the jungle. The accommodations are sumptuous beyond the wildest yearnings of Cleopatra herself. But the highlight of this hostelry is the single malt and I would not hesitate.

We stumbled on the Pear Tree on a visit to Worcester , finding it via the Square meal App as it is off the beaten track. The first thing to note is Joey - a parrot who sits on the bar !!! Don't worry all he does is watch ( and squawk) but its something different and adds to the ambience. The food is good quality and the lunch time menu offers 2 courses for £8 or 3 courses for just £10. A starter of chicken pate with a chill sauce was great , followed by Sausages and mash ( 3 fantastic award winning sausages on top of silky smooth mash) whilst the other main was a lamb and coriander burger, which was succulent and tasty. The food was topped off with a great local ale. Service was ok , although it seemed the one member of staff did everything , but it's not a huge conservatory and so he coped admirably. The conservatory does need a lick of paint and a bit of maintenance but the great food and value easily made up for this. The dinner menu looked good with a decent amount of choice too.

We arrived for lunch on the wrong day! The waitress who came to take our order could not tell us the price of the meals from the lunch menu: "Don't quote me, but I think...". Then we were told that the chef could not cook anything for us until he had prepared the food for a conference. So, we waited half an hour for any food, or drinks since these seemed equally delayed! When it arrived, the food was unexceptional: the salad was smeared with a dressing not to our taste, and eating rice from a pile on the corner of a flat wooden platter was not easy! The bill appeared in an American Express folder, but it took another 10 minutes for the staff to return to tell us that they did not take Amex! I do wonder how they cope at busy times!

Although this was not one of the best ever meals I have had in a restaurant, it was very good and it was VERY good value. My parents (who were our guests) were thinking they should come here more often, as they live locally. The carvery was VERY good value, good quality, and the service was excellent.I had gluten-free gravy, on request, and everything was nicely done. One of the waiters offered to help my elderly parents, by carrying their main course to the table, which was kind and thoughtful. It would be difficult to fault the service and food... Would recommend.

From start to finish i have been overwhelmed by the amazing people that staff this beautiful hotel.from the first meeting through till the morning after the wedding the staff of the pear tree have been on hand for every detail.Michael, Tracie, Ellie and ALL of their team are amazing. The hotel itself was idyllic, the grounds are so beautifully maintained that even in the dullest of weather (thankfully my day was glorious sunshine) it makes for beautiful pictures. The hotel is kept to the highest standards of cleanliness, never once have i seen anything to make me worry. The food is second to none! we have been for lunch there so many times and i have never had a bad meal, as for the wedding breakfast, MASSIVE compliments to the chef... everyone was delighted with what they were served. The bridal suite was beautiful, offering a fantastic view of the grounds, amazing space inside (enough for myself, 4 bridesmaids, 2 pageboys and my mother to get ready in as well as a makeup artist and hairdresser) and the decorating is exquisite! I can honestly say this hotel made my day perfect!I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Had our evening meal here whilst staying at the hotel. We had thoroughly enjoyed our previous meal here in May and looked forward to the sequel. Both myself and my husband had the scallops, black pudding and pear starter - awesome. For mains I ordered lamb cutlets with new poatoes and my husband had the sea bass with new potatoes. Unfortunately both arrived with chips instead. I explained we had ordered new potatoes and she remembered our order and rushed off to get us the potatoes. They did not take the chips away so I tried one yuk - hard undercooked oven chips ! If my original order had been for chips my review would have scored less. When the potatoes did arrive, there was no butter so we had to request that as well. However the lamb, fish and vegetables were incredible and made up for the odd mistake. So If we return we'll avoid the chips and all should be well.

We were staying overnight at the Inn and so the obvious choice was to eat in as opposed to going into the town. A very pleasant meal was had by hubby and I.We both had scallops, cockles and bacon for starter (£7.95 and a good sized portion too). The sauce was delicious and commented to the waitress that we wish we'd had some bread to go with it. She was lovely and said "oh, you should have said, that wouldn't have been a problem". A tip for next time........as I have already rebooked. For mains we had lamb shank (£14. 95) and a panache of veg (£3.50). The main courses did not come with any veg, so be aware when you place your order that this will need to be ordered separately. Many restaurants have started doing this now, which I think is a shame as a main course should be just that, and not a piecemeal affair. However, the food was very good and the service spot on.

I found a lot of areas of the hotel to be very cold with the occasional warm spots. It was a cold day but hotels are normally warm and welcoming. The bedroom was also very cold on entering and also in need of updating although very clean, sheets nice white and crisp. Beds very uncomfortable very hard didnt sleep well. It's taken me a while to write this review due to being away and work commitments. I understand how important feedback is, especially as I work in customer service; People are so quick to complain but often forget to praise. After coming across The Pear Tree by accident due to being lost, I was pleasantly surprised, feeling tired, hungry and a long way from home, I thought I would go in for a quick coffee and bar snack before continuing my journey. Immediately I was greeted by a pleasant young man, which I came to know as Matthew. He joked with me after explaining about my day and suggested a large glass of wine although I opted for the coffee. Having then scanned the menu, he introduced me to a girl called Sonia who told me she would be my waitress for the evening. After being seated, I asked what her recommendations were, she told me the blade of beef or pan fried chicken were both very good, but then joked with me "everything is good" I decided to go for soup of the moment (very tasty), blade of beef and although feeling fit to burst Sonia persuaded me to have a dessert. I choose creme brulee again on Sonia's recommendation!!I was very impressed, she seemed to be the only waitress that evening yet was attentive to everyone who was eating and I felt it was a very personalised. The 3 courses from start to finish were spaced well and I wasn't waiting and didn't feel rushed. By the time I was done it was 8.30ish, I asked for the bill and made my way to the bar to settle up. I was asked if I would like a coffee for the road, but I honestly couldn't fit in another thing! The bill was a surprise, very reasonable for what I can only describe as a first class meal!!All in all, a very unexpected visit but so very glad I came across you!! The staff at the Pear Tree should very proud the way the execute their roles and provide not just a good service but a personalised, friendly, efficient, and welcoming service. It is rare these days to see people so passionate about their jobs. When returning to Worcester again, I will be suggesting The Pear Tree as the location for my meetings. The Pear Tree went that extra mile, where chain hotels just don't quite "cut it!"

What was planned as a lovely Family Christmas Dinner was a total, expensive sham. I should have known there would be problems when after paying the full amount of our booking, and giving the menu options to the person who took all the money, I was emailed a couple of days later requesting my food options. I attempted to ring the person 3 times and was told each time that she was busy and would ring me back. She did not. On the 4th time that I rang, the man who answered the phone told me not to worry as they had got our menu options and it was all sorted.I had booked the later sitting as some of the party had a fair way to travel. We arrived at the Pear Tree before the 3pm sitting. I gave in our name and we ordered drinks whilst the young man went off to sort our table. When he came back, he informed me that they had no record of my booking and asked me if I was sure that I had booked there and not at the Three Pears down the road!!!!!!! I was not impressed to say the least. Mega panic was setting in by this time, as I was not quite sure what we were going to do at 3.20pm on Christmas afternoon. Thank goodness for modern mobile phones as my daughter was able to get my emails on her phone and show them the confirmation booking email. They disappeared off again and after a little while came back and stated that there were able to sort out a table. We had to choose our menu options again and fortunately were able to have the food that we required. We were eventually taken to a table after 4pm. We were sat in the room were the early sitting had been so as we were just starting, they were leaving and the staff were clearing the tables and setting up ready for Boxing Day, so this made us feel like we should not have been there. The food was lovely and well presented so I can not complain about that. It was just the whole experience was awful. It had cost us a lot of money. I am just glad that I had not booked a wedding or a larger function to find when I got there, there was not record of a booking. One of the waitresses spilt a drink down my daughter's back and another one spilled sorbet into my handbag, so all in all I am not very happy and very disappointed. The manager on duty stated that the girl who had arranged the booking was not on duty so they were going to phone her at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was obviously the elusive one who was never around when I phoned or phoned me back. Totally an awful experience

We had booked for 4 and one other member of our family said they could come. It was VERY short notice; we asked about it on Christmas Day, in the evening, and the person I spoke to was MOST accommodating. We arrived on Boxing day and the table WAS set for 5 (not 4) and although there were a few minor glitches eg not knowing what the order for the 5th person was and no soup spoon, they were very minor glitches and these were quite understandable, as we had added an extra member to our party at such short notice, on the busiest day of the year. We were all pleased with the meal. I was particularly pleased with the gluten free gravy, which was very welcome and very nice.

We attended a charity dinner and dance in an excellent large banquetting room at the Pear Tree Country Hotel. Good dancing area and tables well spaced out for a guest list of about 100. The tables were well laid, though I thought 10 places per table made it very tight to comfortably eat the meal. We arrived a little late and the first course of leek and potato soup was about to be served. Nevertheless, we tucked in like everyone else but there was clearly a problem. All the guests on our table looked at each other with squirming faces, after the first taste of the soup. We all clearly agreed - someone had overdone the pepper. It was as if a large tin of pepper had accidently fallen into the vat of soup as it bubbled away on the stove! We should have all sent it back, but at a charity event one feels less inclined to complain. The main course arrived - the plate was too small for the amount of oven roasted chicken, spinach, seasonal vegetables and fondant potato that occupied it but worse of all was the lack of seasoning, particularly the absence of salt in the potato. The creamy dianne sauce was good though and so the potato had a good covering and it. Overall, the main course was pretty tasteless. On to the sweet - Strawberry and White Wine Parfait on a Mint and Strawberry Salad. It was not home made but a bought-in dessert. There is nothing wrong with that, provided the chef allows it to defrost before serving, which he had not! I could only taste iced strawberry parfait. Such a pity as otherwise it could have been a good sweet course. Finishing off with coffee and mints, I just looked forward to the live four piece band and the dancing which did not disappoint.I'm not sure if I would recommend the food at the Pear Tree as being anything other than average

45 mins waiting for puddings with children's meals. Forgot half the food with other meals. Went to children's area, filthy. Staff miserable. Had to ask three members of staff if I was able to move another table over so we could all sit together, looking at me like I had 3 heads...terrible customer service. table still full of our plates after an hour of finishing. Went to the toilets, bogeys all up the walls the dust is that thick it's stuck to the walls. Grime all up the walls where you put clean hands under drier. Male toilets out of order... Used filthy smelling red mop in food areas. I've never felt the need to write a review for anywhere before. In shock that the place is even open.

We had a lovely night away in this beautiful hotel, with an extremely comfortable bed in a room in the main house. We had drinks in the bar before exploring the gorgeous gardens and meeting Charlie the kitten amongst the roses. Our evening meal was wonderful. We were offered complimentary Prosecco each (it was our fortieth wedding anniversary) and we started with homemade sourdough and pate which was delicious. For the mains, I chose the lamb which fell apart under my fork and my husband chose the chicken which was moist and delicious. Breakfast was equally fabulous, with a choice of cereals/juices/toast and we had the full English - one with poached egg and one with scrambled - all cooked to perfection. Great place, great food, great service from lovely, helpful and smiley staff - we will return…
