The Parrot in Mole Valley

Its the first time that i have eaten in The Parrot after years of brief visits during motorcycle rides or network events. I an excellent venue, a great menu and food. The vibe is perfect and very homely for a large pub. The staff could not do enough, just excellent. Book though - it is very busy on Sundays but it as well oiled machine, so wait times are fine.

Fantastic meal today!!! We popped in with friends spur of the moment after being out the kids and the staff found us a table in the bar area even though they were busy and fully booked. The food was amazing and quick and the staff were extremely friendly. We all had a main and desert, a few drinks and it worked out at £50 per adult which we thought was reasonable. We will definitely be back soon.

I've always loved this place, but it has been transformed into an amazing place, and the food is just fantastic a dish for any palette with amazing attention to dietary needs.

Excellent pub for lunch while driving around the Surrey Hills. Great selection of (well kept) real ales, special mention for the Pilcrow Pale from Dorking Brewery.

Met some friends, played a few hands of cribbage, brought the dogs with us, had something to eat. What more do you need?

Dog friendly with heaps of space, delicious food but could really do with being more imaginative and expanding it's veggie/vegan options. Indoor fire was a lovely touch.

Went for a pre-christmas meal with my wife. Lovely table, great food, friendly staff and cheerful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely warm and welcoming pub in pretty Forest Green. We went there to sing Christmas Carols and were welcomed by both the staff and the customers. Very generous cheese and cracker boards were provided for everyone as well as a delicious mulled wine and mince pie for the singers! A really lovely feeling of Christmas spirit. Had a fabulous meal with the family. Atmosphere was wonderful and all the staff were so patient, friendly and professional. We’re locals and it’s so nice to bring the rest of our family in here. It’s become a favourite around Christmas-time. Big shout out of gratitude to our amazing server Izzy. X

This is a gorgeous place, a large bar full of cosy corners, in a stunning setting, and with a large and very civilised dining room. There is a fire in the centre which we were seated beside. The pheasant, partridge and wild boar suet pudding starter was quite exceptional, beautiful flavours. I have venison hotpot for the main, again excellent. The Shiraz was excellent. And a special word on the service - all the young staff who looked after us were outstanding, so helpful, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Will be back soon. Thank you so much.

If you are looking for a great pub lunch, then this is a perfect choice. The menu has a wide selection of modern and classic British pub food but on a high level. I had a game suet pudding which was wonderful, and my friend had the fish and chips (which in pubs can be hit and miss) which was great. The location is nice and quite and perfect for walks.

Friendly and respectful service, very good food and nice size plates, the recommendations were amazing. I forgot to take the picture of the amazing started, but I got the picture of the Christmas dinner and the Alasca slice.

Thank you to the team at the Parrot for looking after our large 20 person (7 children) group with such attentiveness and patience for the million trip hazards around our table. The pub was so beautifully decorated and felt really festive. The food was absolutely exquisite and you couldn't have been more helpful and accomodating. We will definitely be back!

4.5/5! We have visited many times both as a couple and with friends. We had the Christmas menu this time and the food, particularly the halibut, was superb. The menu I thought was good value. The pub was warm and cosy. We were right by the central fire! My only slight niggle is that the staff although efficient are somewhat impersonal . Maybe because it was fairly busy.. That said , we think the place is great and look forward to returning. I am already planning a visit in February with friends celebrating birthdays - although hope to visit again before that. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Arrived for a late lunch . Given a very friendly welcome by the staff. Very charming country pub/restaurant. Plenty of choice from a well balanced menu. As the designated driver I always look for a good non-alcholic drink. I found a good one called Estrella Free Damm. £5.40 for a pint. We had fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The fish was in an excellenty crisp batter and the pie was in a meltingly luscious shortcrust pastry. Both meals were tongue blisteringly hot and totally delicious. By luck we timed our visit at sunset which capped off a very pleasant meal.

Outstanding pub. Great service, well trained staff and a kitchen team that are the best that I have encountered. Make a detour to visit this place you will not be disappointed.

Great country pub with a few pre/post walks nearby. If you're coming for a Sunday roast, come hungry as they make sure you're well fed! Menu really caters for the vegetarian/vegans and gluten free as well, lots of thought has gone into the menu and providing alternatives

We had lunch with friends after a local walk on Saturday 2nd November. The food and service were both excellent, a lovely, cosy welcoming country pub. We have been here before and would return again! (We all had the pies - the steak and the cheese and potato, accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked!)

Evening meal in this very nice pub. Staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent. The only negative was the bar service, a member of our party asked for a vodka and coke which arrived in what looked like a pint glass, after sending it back it returned in a half pint glass, finally a member of our party took it to the bar and had to explain to the apparently inexperienced bar staff exactly how it should be served. Similarly we received alcoholic beer as opposed to the non alcoholic that was ordered. Overall although the staff were very lovely they all seemed very inexperienced and there did not appear to be anyone directing things.

Beautiful pub with poor food. I ordered the salmon and prawn laska curry, clearly I suspect a boil in the bag small portion dish that was tasteless and at £21 poor value.

The good was so so tasty, we really enjoyed our visit. The only critique I would give is that the fish cake portion was very small for a main. It seemed more of a starter and I was hungry after. They could buff this out more! I’d go back for sure though.

Lovely pub with a great countryside atmosphere. It’s nice and cozy inside, with a charming low ceiling. The outside area is perfect for nice and sunny days. Good selection of beer and the steak sandwich is delicious. Highly recommended!

We've been to The Parrot a few times now, food is usually ok, nothing spectacular, Sunday roast dinner is very good with the exception of the roast potatoes, they've been like little rocks, can't cut them, can't eat them, terrible! Not enough of that beautiful creamy mash. I find the menu a bit dull during the week and pricey but I like the little tokens you collect for money off, good idea. The staff are ok, could be a little more chatty, they didn't come to our table to check if everything was ok during our meal and they were quiet the night we went in. I find that when you arrive from the car park side, the 'wait to be seated' area should be closer to that door as there is no sign pointing you in the right direction for the restaurant, you just arrive at the bar. Overall it's a really lovely place for a meal but could do with some improvement in relation to menu & food.

Traditional pub, great views and outdoor seating. Warm and inviting inside, cosy and with a good range of drinks on offer. The food is a daily menu and felt more gastro pub in quality but also very reasonably priced.

Exceptional dinner in a local pub - highly recommend! We had the tagliatelle with wild mushrooms & chicken breast. It was one of for best pub dinners I have had in recent months. Perfectly seasoned, delicious ingredients and creative execution of a simple bowl of pasta. Brilliant !

This a fabulous pub/resturant but like everything these days it's not cheap. However, great food, excellent beers and attentive staff gets my vote.

Enjoyed a family dinner at The Parrot and LOVED it! The food was fantastic with a super allergy-friendly menu. The back side of the menu has a QR code that takes you to a menu that can be filtered by allergen so that you can be assured your meal will be safe for your dietary restrictions. The fish and chips was outstanding. The piece of fish was thick and fresh with a shatteringly crispy fry on the exterior. The mushy peas were refreshing and a pleasant novelty from the perspective of a tourist! There were multiple cask ales on tap, so our party collectively tried them all. The Shere Drop was my personal favorite! And definitely save room for dessert! There are multiple sorbet options and even a vegan cheesecake.

The pub is wonderful and full of atmosphere. Beautifully surrounded by gorgeous countryside, The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly, though I believe they were understaffed, as for a busy Sunday evening it took a while to catch their attention.

100% recommend for a family lunch, dinner or any other excuse to eat delicious food in a great environment.

The Parrot is a lovely place to pop for a drink or to dine with friends and family. Staff are friendly and the locals make one feel welcome too - cross banter and conversations - a pub I always enjoy going to. Food is great - the fish batter is fresh and light. In a long time, I can say I enjoyed mushy peas. There is mutual respect amongst all. Thank you.

The Chicken burger was amazing, I devoured my plate in minutes!! Great whiskey collection 😁 lovely friendly atmosphere 👌

Foods gone downhill, for the high prices I would expect better.

Been to the Parrot before and always had a good experience. Popped in today for a spot of late lunch, didn’t appear to be too busy. Found a table outside and went in to order food. Greeted by lady at entrance to restaurant who explained they were just ‘too overwhelmed’ to be taking food orders?! Really?? Took our custom elsewhere where we were gratefully welcomed. Were your staff advised to tell customers this? Seems rather strange in this day and age when pubs are fighting for custom. Won’t be visiting the Parrot again.

The food quality and menu doesn’t match the price, table service is generally good, the bar is popular though can be slow service or short staffed sometimes. There are better food options in the area

If you're a coeliac (or gluten intolerant) like me, you will think you've died and gone to heaven. Seriously. All coeliacs will know that feeling of only being able to eat two or three things off the menu, at The Parrot you can eat SO MUCH that you won't know where to start. Everything from pies to fishcakes, battered fish to crispy beef are gluten-free. The waitress said, if they could make something that tasted great and was suitable for all (e.g. the pastry for the pies) why not make it gluten free!? Genius. And much appreciated. There was also FreeDamm on draft (gluten- and alcohol-free beer that goes down a treat) - an added bonus. Beautiful, well-maintained and recently-extended/modernised venue in a picturesque location with service and food to make you smile. My new favourite. I will be back!

The fish was disappointing and the accompaniment overcooked. Amounts were minimal.

We always have a lovely time at the parrot and have been coming for many years. We are so lucky to have it as our local pub and to have so many fond memories there.

Popped in for a Roast today. I am not a massive reviewer, but was only right for this lunch. We ordered 2 mixed roasts (Pork,Beef) which came out in great time, even with a full restaurant. Not only this, every aspect of the Roast was Exeptional and full of flavour. This in addition to the stellar attention of the waiting staff resulted in a great afternoon. The overall atmosphere makes this place a must visit. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful Surrey Hills spot overlooking the Green. We had the linguine with prawns, clams and chorizo, halloumi chips and trout and watercress, absolutely delish as was the refreshing Pimms with all the garnishes. Perfect weather, wonderful setting, food and drink.

I had the Burger and chunky chips which was very nice my wife had 2 starters together a spicy prawn dish and a spicy beef one both delicious she said. Last summer I had for pudding a Pina Colada Sunday which was one of the best puds I’ve ever had so I ordered it again as it’s not on the winter menu when we’ve been again, I was so looking forward to it but was quite disappointed as the ingredients had changed. Far too much custard and barely if any coconut ice cream. I do hope the old recipe will be reinstated. It won’t stop us going again as the staff are lovley.

Popped in for lunch during our house hunting expedition and it is a little gem. The light lunch we had was just the right size and I even had a cheeky elderflower cocktail 🤣

Wonderful gastro pub in a gorgeous quintessentially English village. Great food - the steak sandwich is a particular family favourite. Great service, beautiful setting. Lots of outdoor space - last year the back garden was a little bit impacted by wasps which was a bit annoying when eating but that is the only very minor criticism on an otherwise vibrant and appealing watering hole.

I have been coming to this pub over the past 20 years, today three of us had fish & chips, a pint and coffee each, the bill just short of 100 quid. This time I looked at the bill and noted the 12.5% service charge automatically added. I checked and could not find this mentioned anywhere on the menu. I am no fan of this practice! My thoughts are pay your staff a living wage, you charge enough! The cost of the drinks and food should be the headline price and no more (NOT Americanisms creeping in). I tip as a true gratuity when I want, and how much I want, depending on various criteria. The food was good but not exceptional for the price, the beer was too warm and not kept very well in my opinion. The service was also good by three separate servers. I would have been more than happy to add a good tip, but this service charge practice is insidious and negative to get it adjusted. A bad taste left after a good afternoon hence I will not be rushing back.

Brilliant pub, faultless service!

We were a party of four for a weekday lunch and had a three-course meal. We had the soup and pâté starters, both excellent. This was followed by the lamb pie, salmon, burger and chicken mains: again, all excellent. No complaints from anyone and we’re quite a tough crowd. This wasn’t our first visit and won’t be the last. If you want lots of people sitting within arms reach of you this may not be for you, but if you prefer a more relaxed, spacious and peaceful atmosphere then it fits the bill during the week. The service was polite and efficient.

Arrived … sat out front with the family on Father’s Day …. Bought a round of drinks £50 … sat and chose food from the menu … daughter went in to order food to be told we arnt serving unless u have booked !!! Not happy …. All left dissatisfied.

First visit and we’ll definitely be back for more family occasions. Best venue that’s local to both Cranleigh and Guildford.

I cannot thank all the staff at he Parrot enough. We were in Surrey for a weekend break from the city and booked a table at 2pm for Sunday lunch before the drive back to North London. We ended up arriving just over an hour early but were still seated. We ordered our food which arrived in just 15 minutes!! The staff were all so friendly and the atmosphere was just so lovely, being sat next to the fire pit as well. Given how delicious the roast beef was (cooked to perfection - one of the best Roast Dinners we have ever had) we simply had to try the dessert which was equally as tasty and fast-arriving. Overall we were in and out with 10 minutes to go even before our original booking time started which allowed us an earlier departure back home. Thank you so much for an incredible time to round off a really lovely weekend.

Stopped by for a quick lunch on a day out around the area. It’s a really nice place with outside tables and friendly staff. The best thing is that this place is really dog friendly. Honestly so heart warming. Had the baked Camembert to start with which was tasty, served with toasted ciabatta, followed by a couple of burgers which were cooked nicely. Overall a great experience. They used the meat produced in the farm at the back for their burgers which was a great product. Really tasty. I would recommend, especially if you’re a dog lover :)

I’ve been going to this place for 50 plus years. It has a big indoor area and a large garden. Come the weekend it is packed. The food is pretty good and if you are part of the young family demographic you will love it

Lovely pub, obviously very popular. However, My hubby and I thought the roast was pretty average and very expensive, dessert was nice, nothing exceptional. Also, got stung for glass of rose wine for 16.50!! 100 for Sunday lunch...pretty steep!

Good food, with friendly and efficient service, in a charming restaurant pub. We were a large group of thirteen that ate there on a Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend. The service was efficiently swift, professional, and friendly from start to finish, which gave us a feeling of being well looked after. We all came away feeling happy with our meals, all of which were of a very high quality and standard. Our dinner at The Parrot was a very enjoyable one and a memory we'll fondly remember,

What a find. I so enjoyed the delicious food, I had a beetroot and feta salad with warm bread on the side, my brother-in-law had the steak & ale pie washed down with wine & Guinness. The staff really took very good care of us. Will definitely return.

Party of seven on a sunday afternoon. Mix of kids, adults and a Granny. And a dog. So we really did mix it up. Pub very busy when we arrived. But the the waitress we had gave us great service. The food went down really well with everyone. Was a little loud to be able to hear the conversation from one end of the table to the other but other than that The Parrot did us proud once more.

We have eaten at The Parrot several times and never been disappointed. Recently sixteen of us used their private dining room for an Anniversary celebration. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was great. The following day my husband and I returned for a late Sunday lunch, it was delicious and can’t recommend the place enough

Have now been a few times. Amazing Sunday roasts and last week once again was delicious even though we came late in the day. Staff very friendly and service top notch. Hubby loves the choice of beers. Easily becoming a favourite in the area - just wish we were in walking distance.

Great meal in comfortable surroundings, staff lovely but incredibly slow considering not crowded for a change. Most to be seen chatting at the service point. A glitch suffered previously but not mentioned before. Easy to solve!

Excellent find on a spring day. After a gorgeous walk. We needed a bite to eat and drink. Service was excellent, food arrived quickly as they were very busy serving Sunday lunches and we just ordered from the light bites menu.

A very spacious pub with great food, great service and a friendly atmosphere all round. I had a chicken pie which was simply delicious which it needed to be as this pub is not on the cheap end of the spectrum. We enhoyed a meal for four and the only issue was no stand for the ice bucket on a fairly small table. A bit of a first world problem to be fair. I would certainly recommend this pub for a fine family meal or a special celebratory meal as it has that extra special element that makes it more than just a pub.

We had a delicious meal here for the Easter weekend, served by the lovely Darcey! This is a warm and inviting pub with a family feel to it in a beautiful setting.
