We really enjoyed Easter Sunday lunch outside under the covering and a heater. Our table of 7 included a 4 year old boy, and two people who required gluten free. We only had mains but the food was very good, all served lovely and hot and extra gravy on request was also available. Thank you for the lovely service and fab atmosphere. It was nice sitting outside as it was a little less busy and we could all hear each other in conversation! Look forward to returning again soon! 🙌🏼

We visited today for the first time, and what a beautiful experience! Food was absolutely delicious 😋 and the presentation just adds that little bot extra. The venue is cool and quirky in style, with an outdoor sitting which has cover and heaters, as well as part with benches with no cover to enjoy the sunshine 😉 (once back on UK sky). Price was reasonable, we had a starter main dish and side dish with a glass of wine, which came up to approx £40. Service was great, very friendly and attentive, no waiting. The restaurant can get busy so best to book in advance, however it's plenty of room so should not think it would be an issue if you just walk in. Highly recommend 👌 thank you

Very inviting convivial atmosphere. Very spacious. ( I had visited around 15 years ago and the place has been extended very sympathetically) We all chose different roast menus and found the service excellent. Considering the number of people dining the wait for the food was very prompt. The only disappointment was the roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. Very difficult to bite into and mainly crust that was of the teeth breaking quality. Desserts were perfect so don't miss out. Staff were attentive and very polite .

We have now had 4 meals at The Parrot and without exception every single one has been off the scale excellent. For the prices that you pay, you would be inclined to think that this was a mediocre restaurant, but without fail these guys knock it out of the park and you are left with a wonderful experience, fabulous food, brilliant service and sort of not wanting to go anywhere else for a meal! Treat yourselves, you will NOT be disappointed. They were lovely to our black labrador too :)

Blimey this place has grown. It’s cavernous at the back but beautiful dining room. I thought I was back on the Cunard Queen Victoria! We were a party of seven shown to a beautiful round table ideal for a family catch up. I thought the menu was superbly varied. Drinks served at lightning speed and food order taken soon after. Possibly 10 mins slightly longer than perfection but to no avail as a slow lunch. Terrific food quality. My mackerel fillet with trimming of flavours including ginger which I had not eaten for years. Everyone enjoyed the food quality. Tried a superb mussel.

We went on a Sunday evening, only a few tables were occupied. Food was excellent but the service was very slow and we had to ask a few times for someone to take our order and then to pay at the end. Waitresses were standing around chatting. Not their usual standard.

Second visit in a week, and that says a lot—the food is tasty and the ambiance warm and welcoming. This time we chose to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, which was lovely. Unfortunately, what brought the experience down this time was a mix-up with my meal. I ordered the goat's cheese, balsamic onion, and leek quiche from the small bites menu. By the time the food arrived, I was quite hungry and started eating right away. After a few bites, I realised I’d been served a ham and mushroom quiche instead. No staff came by to check on our food, so I just ate it. When someone finally came to clear the plates, I mentioned I’d been given the wrong dish. The staff member simply said, “Oh, you’ve been given the wrong menu,” which didn’t make much sense—my menu clearly said Saturday 12 April, the correct day. No apology was offered. I left feeling disappointed and a bit annoyed, as I didn’t get the meal I actually ordered or enjoy. So while the food is good, beware of unannounced substitutions and a lack of attentiveness from staff.

We were a party of four for a weekday lunch and had a three-course meal. We had the soup and pâté starters, both excellent. This was followed by the lamb pie, salmon, burger and chicken mains: again, all excellent. No complaints from anyone and we’re quite a tough crowd. This wasn’t our first visit and won’t be the last. If you want lots of people sitting within arms reach of you this may not be for you, but if you prefer a more relaxed, spacious and peaceful atmosphere then it fits the bill during the week. The service was polite and efficient. We’ve returned at least twice since. No change. Still highly recommended. Incidentally, the menu changes monthly I believe so there’s always an excuse to return!

Really busy and bustling, but due to the eating area we were in, it still felt intimate and a bit private. I imagine the right hand side of the bar would've felt more open and louder, so we were pleased with where we sat.Food was lovely, always a risk when ordering pork belly that it's 80%fat and only 20% meat, but it was definitely 97% meat and was totally wonderful! My pescetarian/lacto-intolerant Teen was really happy with her nut roast and sorbet, maybe more dairy free main course choices could be offered as she'd have loved the fish pie if it had been available as dairy free.We were all really pleased with our chosen venue of The Parrot, having never visited before, will definitely be back! Me and my son went for an impromptu lunch at The Parrot on a Friday afternoon. We hadn’t booked but there was an available table for us and our two dogs. We shared crispy squid and chorizo to start and both dishes were prettily presented and super tasty. My son had an enormous fish and chips which he devoured and I enjoyed a gorgeous salmon and smoked haddock fishcake (again, beautifully presented on a pretty plate). We were extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the friendly service. There was a buzzy atmosphere and we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This was my second visit to The Parrot in the last couple of weeks and both occasions were a real success. We live nearby and are really lucky to have such a wonderful pub on our doorstep. What a spot for a traditional English pub - just off the village green and village cricket pitch! The atmosphere insdie this large and windy pub is excellent - log burning stoves and planety of dogs enjoying a pint with their owners. We had a large lunch, befitting of a family get together. The starters included pan roasted scallops and baked broccoli with Kimchi, and the Venison loin main, with black pudding crumb, was a delight. It wasn't cheap, £236 for 5 of us, including three courses each, a bottle of wine and a few beers, and service included. But it was a treat for us all to be together again in a traditional Southern English pub.

4.5/5! We have visited many times both as a couple and with friends. We had the Christmas menu this time and the food, particularly the halibut, was superb. The menu I thought was good value. The pub was warm and cosy. We were right by the central fire! My only slight niggle is that the staff although efficient are somewhat impersonal . Maybe because it was fairly busy.. That said , we think the place is great and look forward to returning. I am already planning a visit in February with friends celebrating birthdays - although hope to visit again before that. As the designated driver I always look for a good non-alcholic drink. I found a good one called Estrella Free Damm. £5.40 for a pint. We had fish and chips and steak and ale pie. The fish was in an excellenty crisp batter and the pie was in a meltingly luscious shortcrust pastry. Both meals were tongue blisteringly hot and totally delicious. By luck we timed our visit at sunset which capped off a very pleasant meal.

Evening meal in this very nice pub. Staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent. The only negative was the bar service, a member of our party asked for a vodka and coke which arrived in what looked like a pint glass, after sending it back it returned in a half pint glass, finally a member of our party took it to the bar and had to explain to the apparently inexperienced bar staff exactly how it should be served. Similarly we received alcoholic beer as opposed to the non alcoholic that was ordered. Overall although the staff were very lovely they all seemed very inexperienced and there did not appear to be anyone directing things.

We've been to The Parrot a few times now, food is usually ok, nothing spectacular, Sunday roast dinner is very good with the exception of the roast potatoes, they've been like little rocks, can't cut them, can't eat them, terrible! Not enough of that beautiful creamy mash. I find the menu a bit dull during the week and pricey but I like the little tokens you collect for money off, good idea. The staff are ok, could be a little more chatty, they didn't come to our table to check if everything was ok during our meal and they were quiet the night we went in. I find that when you arrive from the car park side, the 'wait to be seated' area should be closer to that door as there is no sign pointing you in the right direction for the restaurant, you just arrive at the bar. Overall it's a really lovely place for a meal but could do with some improvement in relation to menu & food.

Greeted by lady at entrance to restaurant who explained they were just ‘too overwhelmed’ to be taking food orders?! Really?? Took our custom elsewhere where we were gratefully welcomed. Were your staff advised to tell customers this? Seems rather strange in this day and age when pubs are fighting for custom. Won’t be visiting the Parrot again.

If you're a coeliac (or gluten intolerant) like me, you will think you've died and gone to heaven. Seriously. All coeliacs will know that feeling of only being able to eat two or three things off the menu, at The Parrot you can eat SO MUCH that you won't know where to start. Everything from pies to fishcakes, battered fish to crispy beef are gluten-free. The waitress said, if they could make something that tasted great and was suitable for all (e.g. the pastry for the pies) why not make it gluten free!? Genius. And much appreciated. There was also FreeDamm on draft (gluten- and alcohol-free beer that goes down a treat) - an added bonus. Beautiful, well-maintained and recently-extended/modernised venue in a picturesque location with service and food to make you smile. My new favourite. I will be back!

Wonderful gastro pub in a gorgeous quintessentially English village. Great food - the steak sandwich is a particular family favourite. Great service, beautiful setting. I have been coming to this pub over the past 20 years, today three of us had fish & chips, a pint and coffee each, the bill just short of 100 quid. This time I looked at the bill and noted the 12.5% service charge automatically added. I checked and could not find this mentioned anywhere on the menu. I am no fan of this practice! My thoughts are pay your staff a living wage, you charge enough! The cost of the drinks and food should be the headline price and no more (NOT Americanisms creeping in). I tip as a true gratuity when I want, and how much I want, depending on various criteria. The food was good but not exceptional for the price, the beer was too warm and not kept very well in my opinion. The service was also good by three separate servers. I would have been more than happy to add a good tip, but this service charge practice is insidious and negative to get it adjusted. A bad taste left after a good afternoon hence I will not be rushing back.

We had dinner at The Parrot on our recent trip to the UK. It had great atmosphere, our food was awesome and our waitress Darcey was just lovely!

Thank you, Garden House, for a wonderful lunch today. We decided to go for the lunch menu, and everything was delicious, from starter to dessert, and the service was fantastic.

Thé 3 of us had the battered haddock, which was very badly cooked. It had been cooked for too long and the batter was carbonised and inedible. We complained to the waitress, who was apologetic, but obviously it was too late to save our dinner.

What an excellent family friendly pub with fantastic food, it was the best roast I have had in years. Going anywhere with an autistic child can be hard but the staff couldn’t do enough for us and made such an effort to make us feel welcome and at ease. The food was not only of an excellent quality, the beef melted on your mouth but the portion size was very generous as well. It was so cheap for what you got and was one of the best value meals I have ever had for the quality and size.
