One of the very best places to eat in Norfolk excellent food ,service and value. It's a really shame they don't serve alcohol. A glass of red wine would have gone down a treat with a beef pangang curry

Arrived at 15.32 to be informed not taking any orders as they had “Turned the machines off”. Was only two of us, didn’t even ask if it was a soft drink we wanted but still managed to re issue a hot drink to another visitor that had cows milk in rather than Soya. Hostess who greeted us was quite abrupt and rude.

First time visit and I will be returning. Very friendly and helpful. The food arrived very quickly and was cooked perfectly. The sourdough was amazing, drinks were HOT - so many cafes do not have tea/coffee hot enough. There is uncover wheelchair parking next to the cafe.

Great ambience in this place. Friendly happy staff and really really good food. Beautiful presentation of quality ingredients and superb taste. The team in the kitchen obviously know how to prepare good food. A great place to visit. Highly recommend.

It’s a place on our list to visit lovely barn the building is amazing. The brunch was tasty but bit pricey for what was essentially a posh toasty and menu a bit limited. I appreciate there’s a lot more going on other than a restaurant but to entice me out for a special trip it’s sadly lacking. The staff were pleasant and accommodating but felt a bit underwhelmed.

I have eaten in the Painted Barn three times. On each occasion, I have been greeted with frosty, dismissive behaviour. I don't know if this is an issue with foreigners (which I and my friends are), or just that the owner simply feels serving people is beneath her. But the general impression you receive on eating here is that the owner is doing you a favour in hosting you. Which is a shame, because the food and setting are lovely. Perhaps if you can shrug this off, or maybe belong to a social group the owner deems worthy, then you'll enjoy yourself - for me, this has not so far been the case!

I haven't visited the Painted Barn for a while, and it's as good as ever if not better. A warm welcome, easing surroundings, good food and coffee and an interesting shop to look around as well. I look forward to my next visit.

Always excellent freshly prepared food, great coffee, very friendly attentive staff and always a great service. I would recommend pre booking as it can be very busy. The menu isn’t extensive but there is something for everyone and they also have a vegan option.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Painted Barn. The atmosphere is so tranquil and I love coming here just for a coffee next to the woodburner on those colder days. The lunch is also super and possibly the most delicious food I’ve had yet at such a reasonable price. It’s not your typical cafe food, the flavours in each dish are superb! The desserts are also so scrummy. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly on the many occasions I have been. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone but advise to book in advance. It’s a true hidden gem!!

Iv been here a couple of times before for coffee.. it’s always seemed very pleasant so I decided to for for our ladies lunch gathering which we do each month … Drinks were ordered without a hitch as you would expect! Then lunch order taken by a lady who turned into a bossy, patronising ,rude waitress … my friend ordered a Caesar salad.. her request was no crotons and no dressing … unless they could offer balsamic vinegar! We were told this was not possible, the crotons could be removed but they were not happy to remove the dressing .. she went back to the kitchen then back to the table rudely asking my friend if it was because of a dietary requirement! My friend said no it’s choice Thankyou I never have the croutons or dressing instead balsamic but if you don’t have balsamic I’m more than happy to have it without dressing.. the waitress went off again to return saying the chief isn’t happy to do that as it’s not the way he wants his food presented !!!!!!!! I was under the impression that as the customer it’s our choice as we are paying … things started feeling some what uncomfortable, my friend said ok don’t worry I’ll just have fruit scone instead that will be fine … the waitress then went onto say how wonderful the salad is with the dressing and perhaps my friend should try it ! Never have I been treated in this way in any establishment Iv been to be it a greasy spoon cafe or Michelin star .. it was absolutely embarrassing to think someone so up herself didn’t even realise how rude and patronising she had been .. I said I didn’t want to carry on the conversation anymore and asked for the coffee bill .. we left and went into the goat shed just down the road .. we were welcomed with smiles taken to a table and had a really lovely lunch with genuine staff .. Not so long ago the hospitality industry we crying because of how their industry had been it through covid ! You would think the painted barn would except customer requests instead of almost pushing them out of the door simply because it’s their way of no way .. never going back and I’ll get great pleasure telling friends and family to give this place the swerve .

I was staying locally & called into The Painted Barn after a long journey to get a late lunch. The vegan roll and a cortado hit the spot perfectly followed by a lovely browse around the gorgeous shop. I loved it so much that I called back the next day & had the cheese scone for brunch. I can’t recommend the quality of the food highly enough & the setting is stylish but relaxed, really beautiful. I only wish that I lived nearer. What a gem.

We arrived at this beautiful barn, with a relaxing cottage atmosphere. It was a cold winter's day but there was a welcoming wood burner inside. The simple lunch menu was impeccable, and I could see the delicious cakes on the counter, not very good for the waistline but tasted amazing. While I waited for lunch, I was very happy browsing the gifts for sale and have made a mental note of everything I want to buy. The pained barn is a little gem hidden away in rural Norfolk, and I cannot wait to come back.

Dreadful ‘brunch’ experience Extremely poor customer service, one menu for 3 people, lack of interaction and information with a misleading menu. States they had a ploughman’s sausage roll which when we order we were told it wasn’t available. No signs as to what the cakes were, asked, the one we wanted although there were some on display were then ‘unavailable’ Ordered 2 diet cokes as husband is insulin controlled diabetic, 2 large glasses of coke arrived, I took a sip, and questioned what coke it was to be told she had indeed served us ‘normal’ coke….potentially very dangerous!! When the diet cokes then did arrive they were half the size of the original ones… There was also no ice. Cheese scone ordered, arrived dry and solid. There were only 3 other people in the cafe besides us 3, and we waited a ridiculous amount of time for food and drinks. When the toastee arrived rather than walk an extra few steps she lent over the banister, and 2 of our party to pass to me at the far end of the table when she could of just walked round and put it down in front of me. Overpriced and food disappointing compared to other local cafe’s. This was the first time we had visited and it will most definitely be the last. Give this terrible establishment a very wide berth!

A Roasting Good Time This little pub is a hidden gem. Their roast dinner is the stuff of legends. The meat is cooked to perfection, the veggies are spot on, and the Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and golden. The gravy? Divine. If you're a fan of a good roast, this is the place to be.

Such a wonderful place. The cakes and pastries are absolutely top notch. Also, usually find it difficult to get decent coffee in this country, but the coffee in Teles Patisserie is so good, really rich and flavoursome. Realky friendly people too. I'd fully recommend a visit.

My first time back for 6 years when Carorline still used to serve the "Naughty breakfast" in their old premises across the road. Now replaced by 3 others which includes the "Large breakfast "which is a feast. Consistent quality over three visits in a fortnight & a lovely warm welcome every time. Worth a trip all the way from Africa.
