Great place for a quick drink or a good evening

Can’t rate the food as there still wasn’t a menu even though previous reviews stated it would be back open for Feb which was a shame. Service and atmosphere non existent, man behind the bar was rude, didn’t even get a hello. Just seems like one of those pubs where if you go and you’re not a local/regular, you don’t matter to them.

Very nice and clean the manager David goes that extra mile to wellcome his customers.

No food at the moment, but they said that the kitchen would be open again in February.

Our destination was The Bull across the road but although we knew it was quiz night, it was a very popular quiz night so we came here. Lovely and warm with some good seating and a friendly welcome. Sky sports on TV. Great to see Boltmaker available but it took a while to pour and there was a bit of a head on my friend's pint. The trouble with this place has always been the clientele and in these difficult times for pubs, it must be difficult to be choosy. A lively Alsatian dog took centre stage and it was barking later. There were kids screaming and parents chasing after them, we could hardly hear each other at times. Later, a couple got stuck into a takeaway in the corner. I guess it just might not be the pub for me.

Food was amazing, lovely curry on a naan bread, different but we loved it.

Horrific place! Will never go back! We called in for a drink last Saturday, thr cost for 2 x gins was £17, which for a pub in macc I think is outrageous, there were kids running round , kids screaming, I thought the pub looked scruffy couldn't wait to drink up and leave. I have lived in broken cross for nearly 20 years and have regularly drank the pack, but that will be the last!

There was a promotion on the day I went 50% off the new menu for 1 day . I went with my 9 year old daughter she had a kids meal and I had a starter and main from the main menu when I ordered the meal it came to a lot more than I expected . When I asked the lady about the discount she told me it was only for the main menu, I paid and went back to my seat and did the maths and I had paid full price on everything, went back to the last and pointed it out and she then said we both had to be eating from the main menu to get the discount. I pointed out that she did not say that earlier and that I would have gotten my daughter something from the main menu and she just shrugged. She later told me she had made a mistake and that it was being sorted out. She had not gotten back to me about it by the time I left. The food was awful £8 prawn cocktail 6 prawns and a piece of supermarket Value sliced bread and as for the £14.50 rump steak half of it was gristle jaw ache. Avoid this place

The first time in the pub for a while and very nice it is too. Warm welcome from the staff, immaculately clean bar and eating area. I ordered a Sunday roast and my word……………it was delicious 😊 A chicken and pork Sunday roast with all the trimmings and an extra portion of cauliflower cheese and a jug of gravy on the side. The home made apple & rhubarb desert was also delicious. The staff were very courteous, checking in that everything was good. I recommend eating here. Thank you

Bit disappointed, turned up at 7.55 after playing 5 a side to watch United game, said no food on, despite 6 of us drinking wouldn't even allow an uber eats to be consumed on premises. Otherwise nice place

25/08/2022 Free Carpark to the rear off the building rough guess 12 Parking spaces if people parked sensibly Carpark rough gravel so not really Disabled Friendly if in a Wheelchair & suffer with a bad back or on Crutches Front Door Entrance is Wheelchair & Disabled Friendly Outside Seating Area to the Rear / Front & Side of the Building with Sun Unbrellas available & also Ash Trays available on Outside Tables Clean Premises Clean Restrooms Friendly Polite Staff Menu not as good as it use to be - Menu sheet would of been better if laminated as it be easy to wipe clean with less germs on if you know what I mean Fruit Machine's Indoors 1 Pool Table indoors & quite alot of TV's on the premises for watching the sport Good choice of Beer's & Spirits available Small Tap Room to the back of the building I ate the Bacon Cheese Burger with Salad & Fries it was a good size portion ( my burger was abit dry on the outside edges otherwise I would of gave it a 5 * ) my son ate the Chicken Burger with Fries Cuterly & Table Wear Clean Method of Payment Cash or Card Children Eat for a £1 when eating with a paying adult I liked the tables as these tables didn't feel sticky at all not like some places that varnish there tables indoors & it leaves them feeling taggy & sticky if touched Would definitely eat here again but I would try there Curry dish next time

We attended today, Christmas Day as a family having booked the table online via the restaurant’s website using the open table platform. The table was confirmed. Upon arrival we were informed that they were not serving food and had cancelled the food weeks ago. Despite this they accepted our reservation and we turned up. Our Christmas Day has been entirely ruined including that of a small child. Absolutely disgusting. Nobody should Ever attend or trust this venue. They were entirely non concerned about destroying our Christmas.

A nicely located pub with a fairly large beer garden, that serves good food and that has staff that look after you. What else could you need?

An email the day before to say that the table was cancelled was a great touch to the end of the year, upon calling them apparently there were some double booked, so glad I took the night off work for it. Not even the decency to call and say why this was happening however when I called to enquire at least the lady was lovely and polite.

Reasonably quiet because it was early . But all covid measures in place . The lady who took our order was very professional and attentive. She could be the new manager.? . The food was excellent. And the young man waiting tables was lovely.

Went in for some food Friday lunchtime and can't fault the place, well priced food and a lovely barmaid who was attentive and polite, I had fish and chips which was spot on, decent size portion and very nice fish, gf had a very generous burger and chips and was waddling on the walk home!!🤣 Would definitely recommend this pub and will be going back!! 💯👌

I arrived early for the quiz at 7, I am aware that they finish serving food at 8 so ordered a chocolate brownie soon after I arrived. At ten to 8 I was informed that they had ran out of brownie. Which is not their fault but I feel it does not take 30mins to find that out. I then asked what the other options were and was told by the waiter that they didn’t know. After hunting down a menu I changed my order to the sticky toffee pudding. After another half an hour I asked if it would be much longer and it finally came to the table at about 8:40 during the second round of the quiz.

Food good.. service was slow,. There were 4 of us, only 3 meals came.. mine came as my friends were finishing. They did not charge for mine. So on the whole,. Was ok.. I will try it again. ☺️

Signage out says 'cask ale served here' so called in last night and no cask beer. Pumps exist on the bar but not in use. The person behind the bar thought it was no different to the chilled and filtered stuff that was available so declined and went to The Bulls Head. Thought CAMRA was winning and convincing these estate pubs that people still wanted traditional beer.

Had a lovely meal here with the family. Massive beer garden is great with climbing frame and field for the older ones to play football, etc. Had a couple of very nice ales on too.

This place has just been refurbished and looked ok, when I arrived their was karaoke and a disco which was great but bear in mind this place has just been refurbished, their were kids and adults dancing on the table, which to me is very disrespectful and the staff did nothing about it maybe because they don’t care, and finally the price for a pint of coke is mad. I have worked in high end hotels and restaurants all my life and we have come close to that price once, to which I would have expected it as it was a 5 star hotel, not and pub in Macclesfield. Drop it by £1 and you will be getting closer to your market.

I went to this pub/restaurant for a meal as I haven't eaten here before but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Firstly I would like to say that the menu didn't have the necessary information on, for example, it didn't state that the chocolate brownie contained nuts. Secondly, I would like to add that they didn't have any of the meals that I wanted and that I would expect from a pub menu. In addition, my family ordered a starter to share but it came with our main meals -which took quite a while to make- and made me very disappointed. Furthermore, the food that arrived wasn't exceedingly nice. The outside of the cod was too crunchy for my liking, and the chips were overly soft and the dish was too big for me. This was not what I expected. Even though there was a lot of things I complained about, there is something positive I would like to comment on and that is the staff. They were very friendly and made me feel welcome.

Was looking for a meal late afternoon after several places said lunchtime and evenings only. Called in and Boy! what a good choice my partner had the fish and chips and I had peppered steak with chips, mushrooms, etc! although it was a while arriving, it was because everything was freshly cooked and the two meals were excellent and good value for money at £18 for both meals. The fish was huge and the peppered steak was cooked just how I asked for it. The young man in the bar was friendly and attentive without being pushy! Altogether a chance encounter that was worth the chance!! Highly recommended!! Will DEFINITELY call again! Well done The Pack Horse!!

Had takeaway tonight from here it was delivered quickly and was all fresh and piping hot highly recommend with these new friendly managers there doing a great job well deserved 5 star

Excellent food. Ordered the steak and it was the best steak I've had in a long time. It was fresh, tender and tasty and lovely homemade chips to top it off. Most certainly recommend this pub for food. 👍

Visité el caballo pack esta noche como es bajo nueva dirección y tienen un nuevo chef. Y todo lo que puedo decir es wow! ! ! La comida era excepcional fresco y cocinado a la perfección, recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar ahora y el personal es genial voy a ser un habitual aquí:)

First time of trying this restaurant and it was a mixed bag. The order in the main was good and a good delivery time so I would say we would try them again but the enchilada was dreadful! It had far too much powered spices on and they clearly hadn't properly cooked into the sauce so it was dominated by powdered spice taste, so much so I tried two small mouthfuls and my husband tried one and we had to throw it away. That dish really needs drastic improvement, such a waste of money! Chicken wings and garlic mushrooms were good!!2

Unfortunately after several positive experiences, last night's order arrived over and hour late therefore the food was cold and most of it was wasted. We were very disappointed.

Ordered enchiladas and fajitas came but on a positive note, the enchiladas were awesome.

Far too many jalapeños on nachos and no guacamole at all. Chips were vile, oil tasted bad and covered in black "bits". Pizza had plenty of toppings but tasted burnt? Not great at all.

Food we got was fantastic, we ordered chips but never received them and the gravy was extremely salty especially for kids but despite that I would still recommend the food.
