Have been to the Railway a number of times. The homemade steak and kidney pie is always excellent, as is the service. If you have young children they will love the extensive play area and it is easy to observe them from inside if you have the right table.

Excellent bowling green to enjoy while you have a few Sunday afternoon ales. Highly recommend for small events/gatherings. I can not speak as to the food quality as we did not eat. This being said the aromas burgeoning from the windows were most pleasant. I would gladly return to sample the delights within.

Called in at The Railway after a day out to Tatton Park with grandkids. Staff were lovely & accommodating, finding us a table that allowed us to keep an eye on the children while they played outside, which I have to say is fantastic for kids, really good play area. The let down was the food I’m sorry to say. It’s definitely a ‘no frills’ type of menu, which is fine but please expect your portion to be on the small size. I opted for the ‘special’, which was a lamb kofta in a pitta, what I received however was a lamb burger cut in half stuffed inside of a pitta bread with a pot of mayonnaise seasoned with dried mint that was meant to replicate Tzatziki I presume. As for the desserts I don’t think my husband has ever eaten a worse apple pie! It looked like it had been microwave defrosted with pale uncooked pastry & my tiramisu had also been nuked as it was freezing in the centre with warm cream on top. A lovely country pub in a lovely setting with lovely staff, they just need to sort out their chef & menu.

Great proper pub. Top play area for kids. Old kids can play footy. Need to go again with my darts. Update. Returned the other week. Dartboard could do with an upgrade, it was a stapled bullseye. Lighting ok but the odd shadow due to placement on the left. No raised oche either. Darts is in a separate room which is always handy. Chalkboard for scoring.

We popped in for lunch on our way home from a visit to Knutsford (my home town). We were greeted by a lovely friendly landlord. He was attentive and very pleasant. My husband had the bacon, mushroom and melted cheese baguette. I opted for the open Prawn Sandwich and a portion of chips. Wow prawns were amazing and excellent value. Loved the whole lunch. The Malbec was really nice too. We don’t usually come to Mobberley often but perhaps we should. Nice to find a lovely traditional pub with good home cooked food that doesn’t have the expensive price on everything. Please don’t change. We’ll be back very soon

Got such a warm welcome from the host (didn’t catch his name ) but he and his mum and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. Highchair provided for our little one and the food was homely and delicious ( even catered for my coeliac daughter with GF menu) when the older toddler kicked off he couldn’t have been more kind …. Offering choc ice cream and made us feel it was no big deal .Can’t wait to go back without noisy stroppy children next time !

Called in for lunch after finding Tatton Park shut. Well what a little gem this place is. Lovely pub with a cracking beer garden in the summer. Proper traditional pub with a welcoming feel. Had a great meal in the Railway pub, quite a few of us dining and drinking. The food was great, good quality pub grub! The only issue I found was the menu is not accurate as it showed a Turkey Dinner and they only were doing beef. The menu also does not tell you what things come with (for example it just says beef burger, not beef burger and chips) Not a big issue but I do feel like it's a simple fix and would be a big improvement. Overall though was great, good was good, drinks were good. Good night out!

Thought I’d leave a review on here as looked before we went and the reviews were a bit mixed. Been for lunch today here as a party of 9 and can honestly say it was one if the best family meals we’ve had. Service was spot on, anyone with young kids knows it can be a bit chaotic going out for big family meals, staff were so accommodating and friendly. Food was lovely, nice home cooked food and lots of specials to choose from. The play area was fab, they looked liked they had updated it from the pictures I could see online. Nice secure garden so kids can just run around and enjoy themselves. Will definitely be coming again, thanks for a lovely afternoon. Would highly recommend to anyone with kids.

Just returned from a lovely family celebration for a Golden Wedding Anniversary. Lovely outside seating area, table all set out with balloons I'd dropped off earlier. Kitchen was opened a little earlier than usual to accommodate our booking which is much appreciated. Good food, drinks and great service. I particularly enjoyed my proper old school prawn cocktail! The children had a great time playing in the extensive and safe beer garden. The landlord was also kind enough to take my father in law the short distance to the train station as he had become very tired after the meal.

I visited The Railway Inn with 14 others for a Sunday lunch a few days ago. We rarely see one another so it was an occasion for us all. I was immediately greeted by frowns and cold shoulders at the bar when ordering drinks. I let it go. We all have bad days. We then sat for our meals. I had the Beef Dinner. The beef was dry and tough and swamped in a tasteless beige gravy that was literally dribbling off the edges of the plate. It was, sadly, the worst Sunday Lunch I've had. Still, I didn't want to spoil the occasion. When the meal was finished we wanted to sit outside in the large garden. We asked and was given rolled-eyes from the waitress who seemed irritated at our wish to go sit in the sun. Ooookay. I then went back to the bar to order another drink and heard three members of staff, including the very rude and flat-out obnoxious lady pulling pints, moaning loudly about having to sweep the floor near the high-chair we had at our table. The high-chair, of course, had a little toddler in it, and she sadly dropped a few crumbs. How dare she!? Well, they weren't happy. This was an appalling experience from beginning to end. I'm no stranger to poor service. It's a common occurrence, but I think this might just be the worst I've encountered in a long, long time. Food was bad. Service was horrendous. We spent around £350 in food and drinks here on this afternoon, and I wish we'd gone somewhere else. All 15 of us will refrain from visiting this location again, and we urge anyone else considering a nice meal out to find somewhere else to go and enjoy. The beer garden here is a sizeable one, but it isn't worth the rest of the awful stuff just to enjoy a table in a field.

Me, the misses and the 2 kids came here at the beginning of May for the afternoon. The sun was out and the kids were running riot in the huge garden they have. For the first time, the kids asked to stay at a pub longer when we said it was time to go. They loved the brand new climbing frame, swings, football net and go kart. There’s even a pig just over the fence that they could look at. We also had food which was lovely, nachos and chips for us. The kids had chicken nuggets and chips and sausage and mash. They wolfed it down. We will be returning. What a perfect family pub to keep the kids entertained while the adults unwind with a few beers!

We used to live in Weaverham and often walked to the Riverside for a drink or food. They used to do 2 main courses for £10 which was good values for money. I know those days are now gone but after our recent visit I don’t think we will be returning. We booked a table for Sunday lunch for 4 people. We ordered drinks which came promptly and then ordered our food. We only ordered 4 mains, fish and chips, sea bass and 2 x steak and ale pies. We waited over an hour for our food, others who arrived after us received their food so we asked how long ours was going to take and were told they were just plating up. 10 minutes later we finally received our food. The fish and chips did look lovely and was a healthy portion size, the pies were well filled but mash potato was a bit on the small side. The main issue was the sea bass. There were 2 small fillets with a few crushed potatoes underneath, a spoonful of frozen peas, 2 green beans and 5 mange tout. Now for £17.95 I expected more. I’m not a big eater or a quick eater but I finished my meal first, and I knew I wouldn’t be full for long. How much do vegetables cost? Surely some carrots and tender stem broccoli wouldn’t break the budget? I did mention this and I was not charged for my alcohol free G&T, but I couldn’t wait to get home and have something to eat, disappointing.
