The loveliest staff and the best portions/quality! Our local chippy, and definitely the best in Glasgow City. Will never get sick of their curry sauce!

Fish and chips were very tasty and the large portion was very plentiful. Very friendly service.

A great chippy / restaurant tucked away in Glasgow City centre.

Overall a decent fish and chips. Friendly and efficient service, fish was cooked fresh so happy to wait the 5/10 mins for fresh fish. Decent crispy batter on the fish, fish was flaky and fresh, chips were about average and the curry sauce was really tasty with a decent amount of heat. Very good and just £7.95 for Fish, Chips and Curry sauce.

Can't beet a fish supper for dinner. 👍

Rock solid, traditional fish and chips.

I have been coming here since I was a kid, different management and decor now, but the food is appetising and the service is good. Went on Sunday and the sit in area was quiet, but a few people in and out of the takeaway side. Value compared to the other chippies in the centre of town is great. Fish tea is recommended.

Food was delicious and the owner was super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

I stayed in Glasgow for about four days and one of my friend adviced me this Restaurant. I tried several dishes like fish, pizza, Lasagne and Break fast and all of them are great. Later I met with the Cook and learned that he used to work in big hotels but somehow found himself here. He is running this Place for about 18 years and I am very happy to be here. Good luck to him and his Team.

Die Bedienung war nett und gut verständlich, allerdings gab es wenig Tische die sauber waren. Beim Essen hatte ich einen Hamburger bestellt, welcher aus einem Stück Fleisch und zwei Brötchen bestand, keine Soße oder etwas anderes. Für ungefähr 10£ würde ich da schon mehr erwarten.

During our visit to this chip shop, my wife and I enjoyed a delightful small fish tea supper each, which was generously portioned, as shown in the picture. The quality of the food was excellent, and we were truly impressed by the brilliant service; there wasn't a single fault to be found. The menu boasted a wide variety of options, including the expected fish and chips choices, as well as pizzas, egg dishes, pies, pasta, toasties, jackets, sandwiches, paninis, and mouthwatering desserts. If you're seeking a local chippy experience, this is the place to be – we highly recommend it. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The fish itself was very fresh and flaky, however chips and breadcrumbs over the fish were bitter - most likely because they haven't changed the oil for a while. Could not finish even half of the portion - just ate the fish, leaving the breadcrumbs and the chips, chips were also not crispy and were watery

One of the best chippies I've ever visited. Food nice and hot, staff very friendly, sublime chips. It's all good.very reasonable prices. I couldn't ask for more. If only there were more like this. Don't go to McDonald's of KFC, go to the Oxford. Believe me, I don't work there, I'm just a visitor. I sometimes stay at the Travelodge on hill Street, Glasgow and this is my go to place. Even if I was staying a couple of miles away, I would still go there.

Brilliant chippy, always good food, pleasant server, highly recommended,,not much has changed,, still best chippy about and still quite reasonable prices for there suppers!!!

Best wee cafe/chip shop in Glasgow if not Scotland the fish was outstanding and so was the chips and for the boiled peas in vinegar that just added to it definitely 10 out of 10 thanks for the lovely food at great prices

After travelling all day, and stopping over night at the travellodge we where lucky to have a fish and chips shop opposite. Best fish and chips we have ever had, service was super friendly and if ever in Glasgow again would definitely return.

I’ve just bought Deep fried battered Mars bar coz I’m in Scotland n gotta try one n hot n spicy pizza with all the toppings. And it was amazing. The pizza was perfect and the battered Mars bar was proper nice. Staff were lovely n chatty. Overall it was a perfect experience. Thank you guys!!! Happy days

Este lugar sirve exactamente lo que te imaginas al escuchar sobre tiendas de pescado y papas fritas en el Reino Unido. Antes de venir, habíamos decidido que comer uno estaba en nuestra lista de cosas que teníamos que experimentar. La masa era ligera y crujiente y el pescado delicioso. Las patatas fritas eran decentes y la comida una muy buena relación calidad-precio. Me sorprendió que a pesar de que está justo al otro lado de la calle de un hotel, todos los demás en la tienda parecían ser locales.

Solía comer aquí cuando era niño y ahora como todos los viernes a la hora del almuerzo. El pescado siempre se cocina fresco y la masa es dorada, crujiente y se adhiere bien al pescado. Las patatas fritas también son siempre muy agradables. Hacen ofertas a la hora del almuerzo que tienen una buena relación calidad-precio. Un chippy muy bien dirigido y el personal es agradable y amable. Muy recomendable.

We ordered 35 suppers of various items for a xmas lunch and got exactly that. Nice suppers, cooked on time, everybody happy. Good job and nice chips too.

The chips were nice and crisp and the batter on the fish was wonderful. The side of mushy peas were very different from what I am used to. Either they weren't soaked properly or they had not been cooked enough. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Arrived at Travelodge early evening and dd not fancy hunting for food so were very pleased this restaurant was opposite hotel, Although a chippy, menu was varied and you could eat in too. I had Moussaka and partner had Haddock fish supper both very enjoyable.

What more can I say. It is a chippy, but a good one if your into fish and chips! Close to the Travel Lodge in Hill Street , Glasgow, it serves the usual quick fare, but is a Godsend if you arrive late and are hungry. Thank goodness it was there.

Visité este chippy dos veces mientras estaba cerca y realmente disfruté mis cenas. La comida estaba recién hecha y estaba muy rica y valía la pena esperar Los tamaños de las porciones son grandes ya un precio realmente bueno. El personal es muy agradable, especialmente el muchacho turco que trabajaba allí con quien conversé.Pop en ti no te decepcionará.

We tried this cafe as our usual Saturday favourite had closed down. Really enjoyed fish, chips and marrowfat peas. Definitely we’ll return and the home made apple pie with ice cream was excellent too. Good quality, good value and friendly.

Mi familia comió aquí en nuestra primera noche en Escocia. Estaba a la vuelta de la esquina de nuestro hotel. Este restaurante tiene un poco de todo dependiendo de lo que quieras. Mi mamá y yo dividimos una pizza (que llamaron salchicha, pero en realidad era pepperoni). Fue muy bueno y todos parecían disfrutar de su comida. Íbamos a regresar el día de Año Nuevo, pero estaban cerrados.

Good place to eat if you are looking for the typical fish and chips. Crunchy and well done with a good service and very quick. Big portions. I was in for a fast meal before a concert and this is right what I expected. No luxuries, simple place but nice and cheap food.

Perfect on a rainy night. Cooked fresh, chips not greasy haggis could be bit more spicy but that's my taste, loads to eat all for £3.80. Best had in Scotland

Te pierdes es que no vas aquí. Hill Street, el extremo superior de la ciudad, cerca de la estación principal de autobuses. Las porciones son más que suficientes, todo recién hecho en el lugar. Nos sentamos a primera hora de la tarde después de ir de compras. La comida es muy sabrosa y el personal es amable. Una pequeña joya de lugar como debería ser.

Very very friendly service lower quality food but a very good price point Unfortunately both me and my daughter had bad stomachs the following afternoon And was the only place we both ate from But need to loose weight so not complaining 😂

Handily placed restaurant across the road from the Glasgow Central Travel Lodge. A good value varied menu, quick friendly service and a very enjoyable fish tea. Recommended

El Oxford chippy ha sido en glasgow calle colina justo al lado de la calle cambridge, de más de 30 años anteriormente propiedad de walter y familia y personal. Dirigida ahora por los actuales propietarios recientemente tuvimos una gran reforma para el lado de restaurante independiente tome tipo que era antes. El personal es amable y atento y si como nuestra familia les dan a conocer lo que te gusta en una base regular. Normalmente nos sentaremos en el restaurante si vas a cine o teatro como una comida lujo. La comida siempre es agradable y el personal es amable y simpático. Este establecimiento local es visitado por personal de empresas vecinas así como policía y bomberos tripulantes para su almuerzo o cena. Bien merece una visita si te alojas en hoteles cercanos. Menos de cpl minutos de hoteles. Gran variedad de comida. 10 / 10

Had a nice family meal. Fish tea and sausage supper were good. We finished it all. Waitress very helpful and attentive. Prices a bit more expensive than they used to be but I believe that it has just been renovated. Would go back again.

Vine aquí con mi esposa por 12 en un almuerzo de domingo pero me dijeron que era sólo el menú de desayuno en ese momento (dice el almuerzo de 12 en el menú).

Above average deep-fried takeaway. The place has an option to sit down and is a good local chippy. The food is freshly made and the place is spotlessly clean. I had steak pie and chips and my friends had fish and chips. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous.Service is fine. Just off the main drag, so there is time to choose and ask what's good today. Definitely worth going to. It's not open really late. Not a drawback.

If you are looking for good fish and chips and reasonable prices, the Oxford can deliver. Located diagonally across from The Glasgow City Hotel, it is a great place to go for a take-out which you can enjoy in your room. Mind you, you will have to put up with envious stares from your fellow guests as you ride the elevator!

Nice clean cafe great breakfast not fancy but does what it says on the tin would use again and no doubt will.

Stayed at the Travelodge over the road, and went out for an evening meal. The takeaway also has a seating area which is very basic but is very clean, you are served promptly by attentive staff and the fish and chips are second to none. A little gem.

Visited this chippy for a fish supper as I have been here before years ago. Can't complain about the fish. Nice and tasty. There could have been more chips though. I thought they scrimped a wee bit on that side. At nearly seven pounds you would expect more. Nevertheless the cops were half decent.

We had breakfast there each morning which was substantial and freshly cooked. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for good value and good service.

A Fish and Chip institution frequented by taxi drivers, ambulance crews, Police men, white van men, school children and art students, no better indicator of a great place. It is well worn, clean, spacious, with a loo for customers. It is in a side street near Sauchiehall Street with little parking outside.They serve a full range of fried food.

There's not much to the few chairs and tables in this chippie but the food makes us for the lack of ambience. Admittedly this is comfort food but the grub and the price will keep you coming back - especially if you are staying at the Glasgow City Hotel across the street.

We stayed at the Travelodge across the road and on the first night called in to the Oxford for take away Fish and Chips. From ordering to receiving the food took 25 minutes. There was one person ahead of me who left without his food after waiting twenty minutes.There were two customers in the restaurant and two staff, the server and the fryer. They just didnt have a clue what they were doing. The fryer kept taking the fish out of one fryer, looked at it, thene put it back in a different fryer, then two mins later repeated the process back to the first fryer ad infinitum. A total joke. The only good thing is the food, although expensive for take away was excellent.

Went here to eat during our stay at Travelodge, for lunch on the Saturday I had a ham & cheese panini and chips, the chips were lovely however I was very disappointed with the ham in the panini....it wasn't even ham it was just rectangular strips of over processed meat that never resembled ham ever, in fact I'd say it wasn't ham it was a very cheap meat alternative which tasted repulsive. The next day I had breakfast & for £6 I expected something tasty, all I got was a square sausage which tasted like the cheaper ones, a black pudding, 4 mushrooms, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 slice of toast each & no beans I had to ask for them as stated on menu, thankfully wasn't charged extra & was simply an oversite on there part. In short I found the place expensive in price, I wouldn't have minded if the fayre was top notch but sadly it's a long way short. Probably a decent chippy but nothing else, sticking to wetherspoons in future, tried and trusted.

As the Oxford was near my accommodation I used it several times during my stay.Their pizzas were good and reasonably priced and their fish and chips were well cooked usually to order and were not greasy. The staff were friendly and it seemed to be popular with locals which is usually a good sign.

Their take away hot foods including haggis, fish and chips, Scottish pie etc. Food taste good especially the haggis. Price affordable . Friendly staff . I think the haggis here really suit for Asian appetite.

Two of us had the haddock and chip suppers and these were excellent. The fish suppers were let down only by processed peas and slices of pre-sliced white bread. The two ladies had the lasagne and these meals were good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. The desserts were limited to apple pie and/or ice cream. Coffee and tea came in with the price of the suppers. The venue is totally lacking in ambiance but this establishment gives very good value for money.

Since Mr Chips on Sauchiehall Street disappeared overnight, this end of town has been a bit short of chish and fips. This place has been a favourite of ours since we moved here 3 years ago, but I've been loathed to share the secret. However, given my service tonight I think it's the least they deserve.The Oxford is just off the beaten track in terms of Glasgow city centre, hidden round a corner in Garnethill, the wee village that lives behind Sauchiehall Street. It shuts at 10pm every night. They've apparently thought about opening later, but quite frankly it seems more trouble than it's worth. Hence why I broke the 4 minute mile to get there, arriving just after quarter to 10, to order a fish and chips. They asked if I wanted a large supper (because they couldn't have done that, given they were shutting soon and the fryers had been turned off), but I was looking for a small which meant a slightly longer wait for the fish to fry, but my giddy aunt was it worth it. Fluffy batter, crispy chips (and even that was after a 5 minute walk home) and a lovely conversation whilst I waited. Another chap came in when I was there, and as they didn't have enough chips to do both of us, they offered him some fritter instead, but still charged the same as they would have for a bag of chips. He didn't seem bothered at all (neither would I, their fritters are to die for!)This is without question one of the best chip shops I've ever given my custom to. Friendly staff, good food, and a willingness to not complain when someone rocks up near closing, still turning out good food at a fantastic price. There's a lot of good food places around Sauchiehall Street, but this ranks up there in the top 3. If you stay at the Travel Lodge, don't miss out on this wee gem of a place.

We were staying in the Travelodge so went to the Oxford for breakfast as it's just opposite. The food was ok, but the cooked breakfast and plate of toast were both served on freezing cold plates. In addition the butter for the toast was the pre wrapped mini butters which were as solid as a rock, so the first five minutes were spent trying to thaw them out. That is not what I call catering. How hard is it to warm a plate for goodness sake! As we prefer our food to remain hot as long as possible, we didn't eat there again.

Friendly helpful staff conveniently located opposite the travelodge. Fish supper was excellent with particularly tasty chips but If you go for the curry sauce then ask for it on the side otherwise your chips will be drowned.

Many years ago when I was a student at Glasgow School of Art, the Oxford and Fazzi's were two institutions! Fazzi's for lunch (if you felt flush) and the Oxford for a roll and chips... Sadly Fazzi's is now a shadow of its former glory, but the Oxford is still there. Serving fried food to the students and the denizens of Garnethill.Great fish and chips too, and good banter from the staff...

Had the large fish tea , very good , cup of tea , bread and butter , two large pieces of fish with chips and peas . Good value , good service .
