Fat Lobster in Glasgow City

Went in without booking for some drinks around 3pm on a Saturday. Told downstairs didn't require bookings so stand wherever, which was great. Found a nice bit at the side to stand with my friend. Was fairly busy yet somehow also easy to chat. A little wait at the bar but can see a lot goes into the cocktails, plus bar staff giving good service to those theyre serving. Got a King and a Hemmingway, they were great! Very lovely looking place, would go again.

Booked a table for 2 for food , arrived on time but had to queue behind people ordering drinks at the bar,, confusing system as customer ahead of us was shown upstairs to a table and when the staff member eventually came back down we had to politely interrupt her chat with a colleague to ask about our table despite the fact that we were clearly waiting, hardly welcoming. Small plates were good but delivered to table without an actual plate for us to eat from? We asked for side plates, one was source immediately the other arrived 5 minutes later, surely staff know how small plates work? Asked for salt (not unreasonable) which eventually arrived as we were almost finished! Pity the service doesn’t live up to the quirky surroundings, new venue which will no doubt attract people looking for something new but don’t think I’ll be back or recommend.

Visited on Tuesday with a friend for a few drinks and food and was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere, ambeience and service was top notch! We had the patatas bravas and the lamb skewers which were delicious! Would highly recommend

Visited like others after some press across the city. Arrived for a table for two, ordered two cocktails and were told there was a wait for food. Cocktails came and the vodka, soda lime felt like it had 0 vodka in it. Addressed this with a member of staff who was quite rude and just kept saying do you want a double then? To which I eventually agreed. Drink came, then tried to order food, guy was indecisive as to whether we could order food?? Even though we’d booked a table for food and we were siting in the eating area… bizarre. Told us there was a wait for food… 20 mins for Polenta Fried and Serrano ham 🤷🏻‍♂️ okay then… bit odd, but thought they may be busy as they’d just opened. But given all the press you’d have thought they’d have planned for that. Cocktails were okay, but will get boring very quick, had two out of the 10 I think it was. Hemingway was good, Fleming felt like I was drinking petrol! Service needs work - not very friendly and in a competitive service industry they really need to improve or they won’t survive beyond Christmas. Cocktails need to be refreshed as they’ll get boring really quickly if you’re a regular. Venue was lovely though. Overall, not sure if I’ll be back there are better venues and service across the city.

Lovely evening in the last bookstore. We had a few small plates with very nice wine. Rebecca our server was lovely and despite it being very busy was so attentive and conversational. We’ll definitely be back.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ If I wanted loud music, I’d go to a clurbb. I come to a bar to talk and enjoy a good atmosphere, but it’s hard when the music is blaring on weekends. Jazz would be a much better vibe for this place – something that lets people actually hear each other while enjoying their drinks. Otherwise, it’s just like any other loud bar. Disappointing, especially when you’re hoping for a place to relax and chat with friends.

We were served by Natalie, who provided excellent service. The food was lovely and we requested what vegan options they could provide and they were able to provide good options. The cocktails were lovely! Would definitely recommend a visit here.

We went in after reading about this place in the papers; the staff seemed annoyed and overworked, so much so that the person behind the bar with the green hair told us, "If you are looking to get served, don't stand where it says no service" after they saw us waiting for ages. It was really busy, and we didn't even realise there was a sign. We looked and the sign ended up being all the way at the edge of the bar, which was not where we were stood to begin with. In any case, we left after one drink because it felt like we paid just to be insulted for no reason.

Was looking forward to experiencing this pub bit was in 5 mins and remember of staff was so rude we walked out before we even got a drink, barman with long dyed green hair whi obviously didn't think we were the right clientele

Male staff seem to be a bit wet behind the ears and more focused on the female customer. Wait time for me a male, 5-8mins with eye contact was involved. A young attractive lady goes to the bar 30 secs, BOOM! Then I got served after, he also never used measures to serve the lady her wine...kind of scary tbh

Superb pub, nice staff and perfect atmosphere

Popped in for a few drinks, and we weren't disappointed. A truly unique bar in Glasgow. Cozy, friendly staff and decent music. Give it a go.

This very cool place has just been refurbished and is now an upmarket cocktail bar 🍹 very well trained staff, and the best Dark & Stormy that we have ever tasted . I highly recommend 👌

Fat lobster serves a few main dishes with a larger range of small dishes. Would recommend the crab patties, mussels and chips. The presentation is really good and there were no bad dishes. Personally I am slighted jaded by small plates, as the overall cost is usually high and they come out in random order. Fat Lobster was not bad with this. There was a bit of a wait but most of the dishes came together. It was on the higher price end. Overall, the service was good and the food tasty but it’s expensive for what is quite a low key restaurant.

The food was delicious, with fresh and flavourful seafood that exceeded our expectations. What truly stood out was the service. We were warmly greeted by the waitress who was friendly throughout. We tried the oysters and the tapas and liked everything, especially the crab cakes. The Provence rosé was good. The pineapple tiramisu was disappointing. Overall a nice meal in a nice restaurant although we thought it was pricey.

Went for Sunday lunch. Food was so tasty. Small plates were not small so careful you don't over order as we did. Could have cut the cost down as was quite pricey.Loved it though and the waitress was so helpful and friendly. Will Def be back

I don’t know where to start. We spent £500 on this dinner and it was a really special birthday. It started of fine the waitress didn’t seem to know what was on the menu she was very I don’t give a dam. The £99 seafood platter arrived it looked nice the bowl of chips came separately. I don’t understand why you sell a platter of seafood with a bowl of chips. We purchased the bread separately it was ok nothing special and you got a slice of bread sliced up. I The restaurant was so empty when we arrived at 7pm and the same at 8pm when we left. I wish we just left at the start when the waitress was a bit and nippy. We were going to order pudding as surely it couldn’t get worse and an older rough looking staff member came to the table he was covered in lovely tattoo’s but unfortunately he was not in a good mood and was very rude and raised his voice with the two other and only tables occupied looking over. That was the end of our restaurant experience. You definitely need to find a new seafood supplier if and go to an anger management course and learn some manners. We couldn’t get a member of staff to ask for a drink. I suppose if they all stand talking at the bar area or they just disappear for most of the dinner. I think they were down stairs it’s a strange set up. I’m so happy we were sitting at the door and it was open. The smell of old fish was making me feel so sick. Nobody was unwell afterwards. I think this is a family run restaurant if you could call it that and every member of staff was very rude. Avoid at all cost unless you like smelly sea food and a big bill. When we left the beautiful restaurant next door was absolutely mobbed which a good sign. If it’s empty at the weekend in a city at dinner time just don’t go in. The reason I’m not adding photos is because the rude staff member with the very nice tattoos was quite aggressive and I wouldn’t want to bump into him.

I was going to attend a concert in the evening, so I decided to fill my stomach first during lunch. Original oysters, oysters in vinegar sauce, half a lobster, a plate of extra olives, cucumbers and wine, a nutritionally balanced and refreshing meal. The service attitude is friendly and decent, which adds some extra points to the meal.

Fantastic service with the most friendly and helpful staff. The food was tasty with decent portions, especially for the small plates. It is very expensive so you have to be prepared for that. That being said, I think they offer some dishes that are more affordable and we managed to eat for just over £20 pp, which is pretty normal for Glasgow now.

For the price, the food is underwhelming and so is the atmosphere. The staff are the only redeeming quality, but will not be back.

Really interesting small plates menu - with lots to love. I could have easily eaten three plates, but only had two as I wasn't paying. Recommend the spicy prawns, the oysters and the crab.

First time here, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a tapas seafood restaurant in Glasgow city centre, which I would highly recommend. Instead of having a larger main course. We chose the small dishes, as can be seen in the photos I have posted. These are a good size and we had 8 of them, so we were pretty full by the end of dinner between us. Staff were all lovely and so accommodating. Made the experience all so much better. So welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious food, lovely surroundings, a great atmosphere and FANTASTIC staff. The service is excellent and everything we had to eat was fab. Try one of the specialty mojitos if you get the chance!

Small Oysters,no mignette with them,Seafood sharing platter was nice but for the money not worth it also didn't have and tools to open the Langoustines or Crab,bit disappointing in a fish restaurant. Manager though had a bit of character- let us know service might be slow as they had a rush of customer but it wasn't. Service charge of 12.5 - 15% added aswell . Will try again hopefully it's a bit better

We have a great evening in this place, food was tasty, atmosphere was magic, stuff was extremely friendly and fast and helpful.

Well cooked steak great chips. Nice side of tender stem broccoli. Wine nice and a decent price. Staff nice helpfully and friendly.

Een prettige ontvangst door het personeel en een vriendelijke omgang. We hadden de verkeerde dag geboekt maar dit was voor hun geen probleem, wij kregen alsnog een tafel. Het eten was lekker en er was voldoende keuze in het menu. Het restaurant zelf is ook goed centraal gelegen.

The food was AMAZING ! We visited on Restaurant week and had a taster menu between us ...v good value ..excellent service but the star of the show has to be the food .I have never tasted monkfish so good ! Couldn't fault anything ...Dont Miss this ! Compliments to the chef ..we will return on our next visit to Glasgow .

Visited during Glasgow food week and enjoyed the three small plates for £25. BUT the plates were not small!!!. We had 4 people in our group, so ordered every one of the 12 plates on the offer, everyone was superb. FANTASTIC fresh seafood. GIVE IT A GO YOU WONT BE SORRY.

A great fish and shellfish venue in the heart of Glasgow. Had the Glasgow Food Week small plates tasting menu and was not disappointed. First class food, served well by friendly staff. Great venue. Would recommend the langoustine and fish n chips. Try it.

This was our first time at the Fat Lobster and we were very impressed! We were very warmly welcomed by our lovely waitress who gave us a choice of tables to choose from. We chose a very nice red wine which was reasonably priced and good quality. The restaurant was beautifully clean but could have been a little warmer given the awful weather on the day of our visit. The food was served in good time and was well presented. All in all a very good experience and my wife and I will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff for making it such a pleasant experience!

Fantastic venue. The staff couldn't of been more helpful. We'd booked for 1800, but they were able to seat us, without issue earlier. Fully explained how the menu works, and our "deal" that we had purchased. The food was superb, came out piping hot and super quickly. There was none of the horrible hovering that you sometimes get in restaurants when they aren't slammed, but still attentive to our needs. Portions were just right, even in the sharing menu. Will defo be back.

The seafood platter was amazing and the staff were extremly friendly.

We used itison voucher for steak and fries. Was told by a staff that the sauce is included and confirmed several times with her. When the bills came, there are extra charges for sauces. We told the staff that his colleague said sauces are included but he simply doesn't care and doesn't even try to ask his colleague. The steak is quite rare. (No one asked how you want your steak to be cooked and no one asked whether your meal is ok.) When we let the staff know (as soon as the steak was served), he doesn't care and doesn't try to do anything. Eventually, we had to bin about 1/3 of the steak. The service is slow even though it's not busy (only 5 small tables including us). You need to use emails to book a table to use the itison voucher but it took several days to receive a confirmation which is not ideal. Basically the staff doesn't care about the customers and won't do anything if any issues, and inconsistent information is given by different staff. Definitely will not want to go back.

Sister restaurant to Tabac, Devil of Brooklyn, and 1802 at Hutcheson Hall. Its a large space (excellent toilets) good friendly staff but the food is unreliable. Previous visit Hot Lobster roll was £21 and came with fries, now £25 no fries and no recogniseable shaped bits of Lobster! The house chips dark and poor. However the Mussels with onion and LOTS of cream pleasant. The 6 HUGE Langostienes for £14 bargin but shade soft. Wines average. We spent well over £100 and may not go back.

My wife and I had lunch at the Fat Lobster. The food was outstanding and the waiter(manager) explained the menu to us before ordering our food. The Mussels, Fish and Chips, Salt and Pepper squid and Salmon Gravlax were excellent. We will be going back again

Tapas/small plate style seafood dishes. Had our first taste of lobster which was amazing! Favourite dish was the monkfish tacos, so much so that we ordered another round of them before leaving as we know we would regret it if we didn’t! Staff and service were impeccable! Very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Decent for a Sunday meal could have been better

Looking for a restuarant before going to a show. C'mon Glasgow, everything booked out?. Anyway asked Jules if we could have a table and yes we could, Polite efficient service. Recommended a couple of items on the menu. Beer was only bottles is the only minor downside. Food arrived piping hot and well presented and very tasty. Would I go back the answer is a rsounding yes.

Food was really tasty but really disappointed in what we recieved the 1/2 lobster was tiny and we only got a bite each we had asked for fries instead of the chunky chips but we got chunky chips the scallops were also really tasty but again we're vert small it was all really delicious but for a spend of just under £100 it was definitely a bit of a deflated visit

Best restaurant we’ve been to for our whole trip to the country. This place deserves 6/5 stars for real. Everything was so fresh, our server Kat was insanely sweet, and the general vibe here is so fun. Should be packed daily but it was easy to get a seat! Price seems high but you get a lot of food for your money so it’s worth it.

Really amazing food and service. Visited on Saturday and were sat quickly. Staff explained the menu well and gave us some good recommendations. We ordered two of the hot lobster rolls and the hassleback potatoes. You could tell the food was fresh. Honestly such a great place to visit, well worth it!

The restroom smells better than the restaurant. The bang for your buck with the food is abysmal, and the portions for sharing are insufficient even for one adult. Even at a tenth of the price, I'd say it's not worth it. The service was dismissive; when asked about portion sizes, they said it depends on how hungry you are. Turns out, you need to be full to even consider dining here. Overall, it's a place that would make even a dog shake its head in disappointment!

Acceptable place to dine in. Menu not extensive but value for money

My friend and I are here one weekday evening in December. Online booking was straightforward with the standard reminder and booking reconfirmation emails. Warm and friendly welcome by the staff to this lovely furnished and stylish restaurant. We had a pick of tables by the door, booths at the back and opted for the tables in the middle by the bar. Waitress explained the menu to us and helped with our choices. We opted for: - hot lobster roll - octopus - fish n chips - beef brisket tacos - potatoes Doesn't sound like much but these small plates were plenty and deliciously fresh tasting. It's nice they had a beef brisket option for the tacos although some may be tempted by the monkfish version. No alcohol for us on this occasion (school night) but they had a great wine and cocktail menu. Good value for money in this city centre location. Enjoy! -

Visited on a Tuesday night, no one in the restaurant when we arrived at 6pm. Food arrives as it’s cooked, Tapas style, great excuse for restaurants to over price, present small portions and not have to coordinate their service in my opinion. Food was lovely, but very small. Disappointed to receive one tentacle of octopus for £14 and 3 small scallops for a similar price. Asked for tea at the end of the meal to be told they had none, only green tea, surely someone could go and purchase tea bags? Overall, good food, pricey for what you get, no Xmas menu on offer, I wouldn’t rush back.

Seafood was fantastic and had some new twists to old contemporary seafood classics. Service was quirky to start, but become excellent when mature lady took over, it was all very enjoyable and nice manager and do look out for the banana beer 💯👍

I had the Christmas menu. First class service and food was incredible. I had the butternut squash and the flavours were out of this world the scallops were cooked to perfection.

If you like seafood then this place is a must. Everything was absolutely perfect. We went with some oysters to start and a selection of small plates. Everything was cooked or prepared as you would want. Particularly enjoyed the mussels (they were huge!), the fish tacos (lovely crunch) and the octopus (with chorizo!). Server Tor was really lovely and makes a mean cocktail. The chef (forgot his name sorry!) even came over to see if we were enjoying the food and explained some of the dishes. We had a great meal and a really great night.

First time at this restaurant and we will be back. Lovely meal from the festive menu, all freshly cooked. Waiting staff very friendly and nothing was too much bother. The head chef came out to check everything was ok with our meal. Five star service!

An outstanding meal at Fat Lobster. Sat in a booth close to the kitchen, service was superb. Was great to speak to the chefs and watch our dishes being created. The grilled octopus & chorizo was devoured in seconds. We practically engaged the scallops with Serrano crispy bits/pea shots and watercress oil because it was like a burst of garden freshness on a cold night. We could have taken a straw to the steamed mussels sauce it was that good. Monkfish tacos - smashed it out the park. Hassleback potatoes and olive tapenade? Who knew that was a prefect combo! Save some sourdough for dipping btw. The peach cocktail was delicious. Amazing seafood and service on Hope Street. Will be back.

The food was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We had a lovely afternoon and would definitely return. The anchovie dish and the hot smoked salmon dish were definitely a highlight for us. The tapenade with the hassleback potatoes really hit the spot. The olives were a bit poor considering the standard of the rest of the food but still tasty enough. If you're a seafood lover, you should definitely give it a bash!

The lobster roll was a bit disappointing as it was very greasy also not much lobster inside. Would have expected a bit more for the price also didn’t taste much lobster but instead maybe 80% was crayfish or a mixture of something else but the chips were good. Still prefer burger and lobster hopefully glasgow will have one soon! Service was a bit slow and the vibe wasn’t too good on the day we went.

Perfect seafood small plates. 4 of us shared 4 seafood plates: octopus, scallops, monkfish and salmon,. Each had a unique preparation a d tasty sauce. Nothing fried! Plus Tomato and barley salad and a whole cauliflower was quite enough to feed the 4 of us....

We chose Fat Lobster for our last night dinner in Scotland- it was the perfect choice. Oysters were superb and mussels were the same. Friendly atmosphere with attentive staff. I would highly recommend.

Harry and Meg were amazing servers! The cocktails were top notch, we had the food tapas style, it was all very good but the monkfish tacos were the best fish tacos ever!
