Fat Lobster in Glasgow City

Visited during Glasgow food week and enjoyed the three small plates for £25. BUT the plates were not small!!!. We had 4 people in our group, so ordered every one of the 12 plates on the offer, everyone was superb. FANTASTIC fresh seafood. GIVE IT A GO YOU WONT BE SORRY.

The food was AMAZING ! We visited on Restaurant week and had a taster menu between us ...v good value ..excellent service but the star of the show has to be the food .I have never tasted monkfish so good ! Couldn't fault anything ...Dont Miss this ! Compliments to the chef ..we will return on our next visit to Glasgow .

A great fish and shellfish venue in the heart of Glasgow. Had the Glasgow Food Week small plates tasting menu and was not disappointed. First class food, served well by friendly staff. Great venue. Would recommend the langoustine and fish n chips. Try it.

This was our first time at the Fat Lobster and we were very impressed! We were very warmly welcomed by our lovely waitress who gave us a choice of tables to choose from. We chose a very nice red wine which was reasonably priced and good quality. The restaurant was beautifully clean but could have been a little warmer given the awful weather on the day of our visit. The food was served in good time and was well presented. All in all a very good experience and my wife and I will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff for making it such a pleasant experience!

Fantastic venue. The staff couldn't of been more helpful. We'd booked for 1800, but they were able to seat us, without issue earlier. Fully explained how the menu works, and our "deal" that we had purchased. The food was superb, came out piping hot and super quickly. There was none of the horrible hovering that you sometimes get in restaurants when they aren't slammed, but still attentive to our needs. Portions were just right, even in the sharing menu. Will defo be back.

The seafood platter was amazing and the staff were extremly friendly.

We used itison voucher for steak and fries. Was told by a staff that the sauce is included and confirmed several times with her. When the bills came, there are extra charges for sauces. We told the staff that his colleague said sauces are included but he simply doesn't care and doesn't even try to ask his colleague. The steak is quite rare. (No one asked how you want your steak to be cooked and no one asked whether your meal is ok.) When we let the staff know (as soon as the steak was served), he doesn't care and doesn't try to do anything. Eventually, we had to bin about 1/3 of the steak. The service is slow even though it's not busy (only 5 small tables including us). You need to use emails to book a table to use the itison voucher but it took several days to receive a confirmation which is not ideal. Basically the staff doesn't care about the customers and won't do anything if any issues, and inconsistent information is given by different staff. Definitely will not want to go back.

Sister restaurant to Tabac, Devil of Brooklyn, and 1802 at Hutcheson Hall. Its a large space (excellent toilets) good friendly staff but the food is unreliable. Previous visit Hot Lobster roll was £21 and came with fries, now £25 no fries and no recogniseable shaped bits of Lobster! The house chips dark and poor. However the Mussels with onion and LOTS of cream pleasant. The 6 HUGE Langostienes for £14 bargin but shade soft. Wines average. We spent well over £100 and may not go back.

Beautiful place, quick service and good value for money! Desserts were lush as well, just wished there was more to choose from

Delicious light lunch. Seafood platter at the next table looked fabulous but our small plates were also very good. Chunky chips and fries both sublime.

My wife and I had lunch at the Fat Lobster. The food was outstanding and the waiter(manager) explained the menu to us before ordering our food. The Mussels, Fish and Chips, Salt and Pepper squid and Salmon Gravlax were excellent. We will be going back again

1st time to Fat Lobster. Fantastic Server who explained menu. Food was amazing. Fish and chips, light batter, not greasy. Brisket Taco best ever tasted. Squid lovely. Every dish really good. Great value. Definitely return.

Tapas/small plate style seafood dishes. Had our first taste of lobster which was amazing! Favourite dish was the monkfish tacos, so much so that we ordered another round of them before leaving as we know we would regret it if we didn’t! Staff and service were impeccable! Very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Decent for a Sunday meal could have been better

Looking for a restuarant before going to a show. C'mon Glasgow, everything booked out?. Anyway asked Jules if we could have a table and yes we could, Polite efficient service. Recommended a couple of items on the menu. Beer was only bottles is the only minor downside. Food arrived piping hot and well presented and very tasty. Would I go back the answer is a rsounding yes.

Food was really tasty but really disappointed in what we recieved the 1/2 lobster was tiny and we only got a bite each we had asked for fries instead of the chunky chips but we got chunky chips the scallops were also really tasty but again we're vert small it was all really delicious but for a spend of just under £100 it was definitely a bit of a deflated visit

Best restaurant we’ve been to for our whole trip to the country. This place deserves 6/5 stars for real. Everything was so fresh, our server Kat was insanely sweet, and the general vibe here is so fun. Should be packed daily but it was easy to get a seat! Price seems high but you get a lot of food for your money so it’s worth it.

Really amazing food and service. Visited on Saturday and were sat quickly. Staff explained the menu well and gave us some good recommendations. We ordered two of the hot lobster rolls and the hassleback potatoes. You could tell the food was fresh. Honestly such a great place to visit, well worth it!

The food was amazing, the mussels and the lobster roll were both brilliant. The service was really good as well, highly recommend.

The restroom smells better than the restaurant. The bang for your buck with the food is abysmal, and the portions for sharing are insufficient even for one adult. Even at a tenth of the price, I'd say it's not worth it. The service was dismissive; when asked about portion sizes, they said it depends on how hungry you are. Turns out, you need to be full to even consider dining here. Overall, it's a place that would make even a dog shake its head in disappointment!

Acceptable place to dine in. Menu not extensive but value for money

My friend and I are here one weekday evening in December. Online booking was straightforward with the standard reminder and booking reconfirmation emails. Warm and friendly welcome by the staff to this lovely furnished and stylish restaurant. We had a pick of tables by the door, booths at the back and opted for the tables in the middle by the bar. Waitress explained the menu to us and helped with our choices. We opted for: - hot lobster roll - octopus - fish n chips - beef brisket tacos - potatoes Doesn't sound like much but these small plates were plenty and deliciously fresh tasting. It's nice they had a beef brisket option for the tacos although some may be tempted by the monkfish version. No alcohol for us on this occasion (school night) but they had a great wine and cocktail menu. Good value for money in this city centre location. Enjoy! -

Visited on a Tuesday night, no one in the restaurant when we arrived at 6pm. Food arrives as it’s cooked, Tapas style, great excuse for restaurants to over price, present small portions and not have to coordinate their service in my opinion. Food was lovely, but very small. Disappointed to receive one tentacle of octopus for £14 and 3 small scallops for a similar price. Asked for tea at the end of the meal to be told they had none, only green tea, surely someone could go and purchase tea bags? Overall, good food, pricey for what you get, no Xmas menu on offer, I wouldn’t rush back.

Seafood was fantastic and had some new twists to old contemporary seafood classics. Service was quirky to start, but become excellent when mature lady took over, it was all very enjoyable and nice manager and do look out for the banana beer 💯👍

I had the Christmas menu. First class service and food was incredible. I had the butternut squash and the flavours were out of this world the scallops were cooked to perfection.

If you like seafood then this place is a must. Everything was absolutely perfect. We went with some oysters to start and a selection of small plates. Everything was cooked or prepared as you would want. Particularly enjoyed the mussels (they were huge!), the fish tacos (lovely crunch) and the octopus (with chorizo!). Server Tor was really lovely and makes a mean cocktail. The chef (forgot his name sorry!) even came over to see if we were enjoying the food and explained some of the dishes. We had a great meal and a really great night.

First time at this restaurant and we will be back. Lovely meal from the festive menu, all freshly cooked. Waiting staff very friendly and nothing was too much bother. The head chef came out to check everything was ok with our meal. Five star service!

First visit yesterday - absolutely delicious food and Jules and all the guys were excellent cannot give them enough praise will definitely be back.

I took my grandchildren there for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Great food. Reasonable cost and friendly staff. I can’t wait to go back.

An outstanding meal at Fat Lobster. Sat in a booth close to the kitchen, service was superb. Was great to speak to the chefs and watch our dishes being created. The grilled octopus & chorizo was devoured in seconds. We practically engaged the scallops with Serrano crispy bits/pea shots and watercress oil because it was like a burst of garden freshness on a cold night. We could have taken a straw to the steamed mussels sauce it was that good. Monkfish tacos - smashed it out the park. Hassleback potatoes and olive tapenade? Who knew that was a prefect combo! Save some sourdough for dipping btw. The peach cocktail was delicious. Amazing seafood and service on Hope Street. Will be back.

The food was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We had a lovely afternoon and would definitely return. The anchovie dish and the hot smoked salmon dish were definitely a highlight for us. The tapenade with the hassleback potatoes really hit the spot. The olives were a bit poor considering the standard of the rest of the food but still tasty enough. If you're a seafood lover, you should definitely give it a bash!

Great interiors and decor, very pleasant and helpful staff. Food was ok, not anything too memorable or extraordinary. It could do with some more interesting flavours and more seasoning on dishes. All in all a good experience

The lobster roll was a bit disappointing as it was very greasy also not much lobster inside. Would have expected a bit more for the price also didn’t taste much lobster but instead maybe 80% was crayfish or a mixture of something else but the chips were good. Still prefer burger and lobster hopefully glasgow will have one soon! Service was a bit slow and the vibe wasn’t too good on the day we went.

Perfect seafood small plates. 4 of us shared 4 seafood plates: octopus, scallops, monkfish and salmon,. Each had a unique preparation a d tasty sauce. Nothing fried! Plus Tomato and barley salad and a whole cauliflower was quite enough to feed the 4 of us....

We chose Fat Lobster for our last night dinner in Scotland- it was the perfect choice. Oysters were superb and mussels were the same. Friendly atmosphere with attentive staff. I would highly recommend.

Clean and inviting decor, friendly staff, food was quite good but nothing to shout about, the lobster roll was filled with ‘crayfish’ and only had tiny bits of lobster meat from the legs. Had better ones in NYC, London and Oban. Mussels were not fresh, octopus tentacle was good. They need to improve on quality of the seafood for the price they charge.

Thoroughly enjoyed our early Saturday evening trip to the Fat Lobster, Nice premises and friendly knowledgeable staff . And the food was brilliant. Lobster was exquisite but for me the starter Monkfish Tacos was the star. Very reasonably priced. Definitely one to return to.

What a breath of fresh air. We came here for my partners birthday as he loves seafood. I’m not a lover of it but my goodness, I am now. Everything was perfectly cooked and the wine list is great too. The small plate concept for...

We had a reservation for a celebration, but we were not even asked our names when we arrived. We got given a table of 4, with 2 plate settings not facing each other, and we ourselves had to rearrange them. The menu was described as "not being traditional, only having small portions", but we were incredibly confused because there was a clear separation of main dishes, sides and desserts, including the prices. For food, nothing really tasted great, and some of the pairings made no sense; the sourdough paired with the mussels tasted very acidic and unpleasant, for example. And the playlist made no sense with the decoration and atmosphere. Sadly, not a great experience overall.

Went here for a try at a seafood restaurant, was not disappointed. 4 adults and a 8 month old, the staff were lovely and took time to speak through the menu with us. We ordered a mix of small plates. The scallops were absolutely beautiful, the mussels again lovely, grilled octopus with nduja was unbelievable. My partner got a “small plate” of fish and chips and couldn’t finish it it was so big! Staff were very understanding when bringing plates out with a curious baby and catered for us well. The only thing I would say is that the table was too small with us all ordering small plates. It would’ve been a lot easier if the table was bigger so we didn’t have to keep the staff waiting while we re-arranged the table. Everything else was superb, and we can’t wait to go again!

Lovely restaurant with tasty fresh food and tentative staff. However it is costly for even 2 people I felt. Lobster roll shouldn't be more than £15 I feel. They had a few items that had ran out. So 4 stars only given.

Salads were super expensive yet very small in size . In the case of the cucumber salad, I basically felt like I paid 6£ for basically half a cucumber . This dish really annoyed me . Lobster roll was small but good .

Came in for dinner with my dad and got served my Kamron and Sean, both great guys with an excellent knowledge of the food and drinks menu and made us feel very welcome. Top chat and top service. Best sea food in Glasgow!

Great cocktails. Good food. The mussels were good. The tatties were ok. The octopus was very tender but lacked flavor. Ambience was modern, nice but a bit generic and sterile.

Chance find while through in Glasgow for the day. Lovely menu and spoilt for choice. Went for 4 small bite sharing plates, all delicious. Service great, efficient and very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Great food friendly staff very central

The oysters ,haddock &chips ,mushroom /broccoli with oyster sauce ,scallops and other smaller dishes were lovely ,however I found the whole lobster with garlic butter very bland and tasteless ,it did have 3 dipping sauces but I was really looking forward to a special treat .Would recommend a Thermidore white wine sauce to give a wow factor that would bring customers back for more .Sorry the whole lobster dish was a disappointment especially from a restaurant calling itself "Fat Lobster" .I would have had a desert had I enjoyed the lobster. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Smaller dishes very reasonably priced.

Been served by Cameron and what a delight he was. The food was on highest standards and service was immaculate and would say that it definitely bet the food. Had a great time will be back and if you go there please ask Cameron to serve you !
