We were staying at America Farm nearby. We popped in of an evening for a drink and a packet of crisps. It is a proper pub for the locals, who were very friendly and welcoming, as was the landlord. The fire was lit, the Christmas decorations were up, very cosy. There were lads playing pool, it has a really nice atmosphere. We got chatting to a couple of locals. Apparently on a clear day you can see a number of Counties as it's location is very high up. We asked about booking for food on the Friday evening, all ok. We returned on the Friday, ordered a beef lasagne and the butter chicken curry. Great food, plenty of it, nice and hot, great price. We chatted to more locals, had a game of pool. Like I said, it's a proper pub. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend. 👍🎄

As a group of four staying in Mold for the weekend at a nearby caravan park we decided to try to source a traditional Sunday Dinner in a local country pub...we succeeded! We phoned ahead and reserved a table, it's a small pub and there are obviously only a limited number. We ordered Guinness, Worthingtons bitter and a bottle of wine for drinks. Two of us had starters of chicken goujons ( delicious), then four Sunday dinners, three beef and one chicken. The food was obviously well cooked with quality meat and vegetables, as mentioned by others, the roast potatoes were lovely, not forgetting the thick rich gravy. We then finished with deserts, apple crumble, Chocolate waffles etc. So we had really nice food at reasonable prices in a very old country pub, it ticked all the boxes. Also a mention for the landlord and landlady and the very friendly locals who congregated around the bar, they acknowledged us and we were made to feel welcome which is always nice when you are spending money, so thank you. We will return when next in the area.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this place, small pubs in the middle of nowhere can be very hit or miss sadly. But this place. Wow. Lovely inside, really helpful staff and locals. Proper warm, welcoming country pub. The food though, expecting usual pub grub, so went for the usual litmus test; steak and ale pie. When it arrived, I could tell it was going to be good, proper home made pie, fresh veg, and home cut chips. And I wasn't disappointed. In fact, this is the best pie and chips I've ever had in a pub. And that is saying something! Tons of filling, plenty of meat, good meat! Filled me up for sure. Would hate to live close to this place as I'd be fat & constantly drunk. Oh yes, a pint of ipa was less than £4! £3.65. Bargain! What a place! And no, I am not affiliated with it at all. Just on holiday 😄 Dog friendly too!

After running, walking and riding past this pub for the 40 odd years and after hearing great things about it I thought I’d give it a go the first chance after lockdown,it’s 3.5km uphill from home so we set off to make it up there for 5pm opening, the outside are was although small plenty good enough, the landlord was friendly and welcoming, the views are certainly worth the effort as you can see as far as Runcorn on a evening like last night, the Guinness was lovely as was my mates cider,I only have one gripe and it’s with the locals,as a well traveled man I often struggle with the British mentality of not being very friendly until they get to know you,I find this odd and strange and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves and I was totally ignored when I did try to break the ice..this is not a criticism of them or the pub itself which is a little gem of a place it’s merely an observation and won’t stop me calling in again for a cheeky pint or two

Very small, friendly pub. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our trip there was all the nicer because it was Saturday night and we couldn’t get dinner anywhere else in the area until much later than we wanted. Our hostess at Tower recommended it when I turned to her in desperation, telling me that the food there was excellent and they are always really good about making space for people. I have no idea why this pub was not totally booked out because the food is really good. Our corner had three tables on it and the other couples were absolutely raving about the food. Nice big portions too. Steak pie particularly good, plus the sticky toffee pudding. The views as you park are incredible, by the way. We only saw it at night, with all the lights twinkling, but it must be spectacular by day as well.

Here's the thing. The Sunday roast is just sublime. Goodness only knows how they can make roast potatoes that good, let alone everything else. Being a small place it soon fills up. So if I say it is amazing and you just have to visit I wouldn't be lying. However, if it means that they get so busy I cant get in for Sunday lunch then I will be shooting myself in the foot, so to speak. So, go ahead and give it a swerve, and I can keep this little gem to ourselves! Seriously, it's well worth it for the food alone, oh, and they even have a free pool table.

We have visited this pub on many occasions under its current and previous landlords and I have to say this poor little pub has gone downhill, just the basic hygiene of the place is appalling everywhere looks dirty and shabby and is in need of a deep clean. The toilets are a disgrace, toilet roll on floor no hand wash or paper towels the place is filthy. The staff and landlord look equally untidy, from rolled cigarettes behind ears to football tops and trainers!! A clean shirt and a pair of shoes would make a big difference!! The wine glasses are generally dirty, the white wine is warm and the lager is poor to say the least!! We have eaten there once under the currant management and will never do again, I am of the view that if the areas the public can see are dirty then I would be terrified to see what the kitchen hygiene is like.A lot of local people have stopped going to the OG as the general feeling is the poor hygiene and quality has a lot to be desired. The sad thing is it would not take much to get this tired little pub back to a relatively good standard in order to attract more local families and not just the local workmen.

This visit was one through which I could not experience all aspects of the Owain Glyndwr... we attended simply to step outside at midnight, and welcome in 2016...! We had done this 4 or 5 times in the past, but, had not been here for some years. Being outside is the most important thing to do at this time, because the Inn is 900 feet up the hillside above Mold, and affords a tremendous view across Wirral, Chester, and, towards Liverpool on the far horizen. One can see many, many firework rockets exploding, but, not hear a sound! The Inn, particularly in winter, is very cosy. The open fire, burning in the large old stone fireplace, is always welcoming. By the time we arrived, around 10pm., all of the meals had been finished, and space made for a 3 piece local Band, who kept the wide age-range of party goers entertained. The small Bar was busy, but service was pleasant and brisk. All in all, a great time enjoyed in a very pleasant setting. In the near future, I will attend on a more 'normal' evening, and report my experiences.

5 of us went up to The Owain Glyndwr on Saturday night for their homemade pizza night and I have to say that it was great. We arrived to a lovely warm pub, it was freezing outside so to have an open fire was a nice touch. The place was full which gave a nice atmosphere. We were shown to our table, explained about how the ordering was to be done then left to make our choices. There was no rushing for our order like there is in many places on a Saturday night. There was plenty of toppings to choose from, from meats to veg and different cheeses, and all this for just £10.95 for 3 toppings and an additional £1 per extra topping. When our pizza arrived they all looked delicious, they were a good size and most of us struggled to finish ours. All in all it was a great night, enjoyed by all, and we all said that even though this was our first time of visiting we would definitely be visiting again on a regular night.

The OG is at least a couple of hundred years old with photos on the walls of a 19th century royal jubilee etc. It's set on a corner overlooking the sweeping meadows with delightful views, and on a clear day you can see across to Liverpool . The pub is beamed throughout, with a 3 sided bar and an unusual fire place which all adds to its charm. The fire is always burning brightly when the temperatures drop. I don't drink much beer but I'm told Gareth, the owner keeps a good selection and not too dear either. I went there to eat on 2 occasions, one being a pie and pudding event. There was every style of pie from game to fish all served with freshly cooked fresh vegetables, a choice of potatoes, and piping hot. The pastry on my friend's meat pie was rich and crisp, the meat moist and tender and the gravy very tasty: and the potato topping on my fish pie was good and the mixture of fish was balanced, not too much salmon which can overpower the other white fish, and it tasted fresh and succulent . We had a nice bottle of white wine and a basket of fresh bread.we couldn't fault it. We then tried the puddings. There was a good choice and they were beautifully prepared and tasted fresh, and freshly baked. The textures and combination of flavours was delicious and looked and tasted as if they been prepared by a master patissiere! The pub was very busy but the service was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend it for quality and a reasonable price for what we ordered. Just the sort if food a country pub should serve! Well worth a visit or two!

My wife and I were staying at the America Farm Studios which is a ten minute walk from this pub, the lady who rented the apartment to us recommended eating here. We drove round on the first night (as it was raining) and chanced our arm (it was a Thursday) that a table would be available. We arrived at 6pm just on time for food and was greeted by the landlord. There was a great selection of drinks available and the pricing of drinks was very fair. There was a nice selection of food available as well. I had a ham stew which was delicious and my wife had trio of fish. Both were very good, well prepared pub grub. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night when I had Gammon and my wife had duo of Lamb, again both were very good.I would really recommend coming here if you find yourself in or around Mold. It is a great place for some simple but tasty pub grub, the landlord was great and the people were all welcoming.

We arrived purely on spec to see if a table was available, unfortunately for us noe was, however the landlord serving behind the bar made some enquiries and told us that one would be available in twenty minutes. With thr views form the the pub to look at twenty minutes was not a problem. We hunkered down to wai, me with a pint of Wainrights and my partner with her bacardi, the twenty minutes flew by.The meal was well worth the wait, chicken for her and a really sumptuous medium steak for me.As always a welcome awaits anyone visiting this pub, locals make you fel like one of them and notjing is a problem to the staff, long may they serve

Stayed at a nearby bed and breakfast- broncoed uchaf, and ate at this pub for tea. The meal was gorgeous we had three courses and were impressed by them all. The view from the pub is stunning and you can see for miles! The pub is only small but is very homely and welcoming with a little log fire. Many locals were in there but everyone was very friendly especially the staff! Thank you for a lovely meal and a great atmosphere for the night, we really enjoyed it.

The OG regularly hold themed evenings. Last night (22/11/13) it was pies and puddings night. Very well attended which is hardly surprising given the quality of the food, the price and the atmosphere. The pies were superb served with delicious gravy and plenty of vegetables. The puudings were equally as good even though the generous portions of the main course left everyone saying they couldnt manage to eat a full desert. Everyone did though because the puddings were so good. Reasonable prices, lovely company and very friendly hosting as ever by Gareth and Emma made this a great evening
