A lot of people about on day we visited so service a bit slow. Nice cake and acceptable cup of tea. Prices perhaps a bit high and portions not large. Allow dogs which is always a plus point with us.

Wow. I thought my takeaway jacket potato felt light - opened it up and there’s about 1/3 the filling there used to be. I can only assume this is a deliberate way of increasing the profit margins. Disappointing.

I haven’t been here since it was refurbished and they have done a decent job with the interior. Nicely designed with some thoughtful touches. The surroundings are a big improvement. The service was decent too…speedy and friendly. A nice touch to give a mat for the puppy dog to lie on. The food was disappointing.. My flat white coffee wasn’t nice… no depth of flavour, served in a coffee cup with no saucer so not sure where I was supposed to put my spoon once I had added some sweetness? No water offered for the table. All of the breakfast items seem to feature bread… except porridge. Stuck for any real choice I opted for the ham/cheese/mustard pannini…. bread I know but griddled so it’s flat and crispy it would be fine wouldn’t it? Nope….the filling was tasty but it was seriously undercooked….it looked like it had been waved at the grill…still very bready… my spaniel enjoyed a decent portion as sending it back would have mortified my teenage daughter! On the plus side the coleslaw side was delish. My daughters fruit compote and crème fraiche pancakes were ‘nice’ (she has never met a pancake she didn’t like!) On reflection £25 for two average snacky meals and drinks felt steep. This place has a captive market and I’m sure they are always very busy but it could be so much better with some simple changes. We won’t return…just a 5 min walk away the Lakeview cafe at County Hall is soo much better for food and they do great coffee but was sadly not open for our early dog walk.

The location is lovely, great park and woods nearby. The staff are mostly lovely and the cakes are nice. The downsides are: - the food is massively overpriced (and quality meh) - the coffee quality doesn't match the price - the toilets are pretty dank and would need a massive upgrade Small note: the roof has its own passport because something is growing up there. Some maintenance is desperately overdue.

Despite how busy the park and cafe were, service was quick and the staff were friendly. However, the food was below average at best. My wife and I ordered a sausage sandwich (one of them vegan), a biscoff frappe with an espresso shot and an herbiscus iced tea. We both ordered multi grain bread, however they ran out so my sandwich was on white bread. No big deal though as I appreciate stocks will run low during busy times. However, for the price we paid, we recieved 2 very small sausages, apparently randomly thrown onto 2 slices of very dry, un-buttered, bread. My wife said the vegan sausage was fine. But my sausage had very little taste. The herbiscus tea appeared to have been made by adding cold water and ice to a syrup, not from an infused bag, as all the syrup was at the bottom of the cup. The buscoff frappe was very nice, but I couldn't tell if there was an espresso shot in it or not. Overall I wouldn't recommend either of the food choices we made, nor the herbiscus tea. For the prices, I would expect something better than you can get from a burger van at a festival.

We have visited this cafe for probably 20 yrs and always enjoyed what we have had, walking our dog in the woods first and then having coffee and sometimes breakfast sandwich which has always been good. However today after driving around to the Park after a hospital appt we order a sausage sandwich and a bacon sandwich. The sausage sandwich was ok but the bacon sandwich was abysmal. There was exactly one rasher of bacon in each side, one of the rasher was all fat, no butter on the bread which was way to thick for the filling. I took it back to the hatch to express my disappointment but the guy said that was standard now- 1 rasher in each side or I could have a refund. Also this time unusually the coffee was tasteless. The price for bacon sarnie was just under £6. needless to say this is the last time we will visit for food

It was a surprise wedding cream tea treat after our service at County Hall. Large scones with no fresh bake taste, bland and dry. Cream and jam in very small pots, not enough to make the scone edible. It was hard to eat and swallow. Pot of tea remained watery and not hot enough. My wife and I stopped by for a pot of tea and a cup of coffee, which were OK, and of course priced to reflect the lack of local competition. We were told where to sit - a six-seat booth - which unfortunately left us nowhere to stow our 3-month-old's pushchair but in the aisle. Received some pretty dirty looks from staff because of this, and were asked to move the pushchair - but given no suggestion as to where. Ended up piling the chairs into a heap to make space. Felt uncomfortable, and drank up and left asap. Asked a member of staff whether there were any baby changing facilities - but didn't know! Pretty odd as there were at least half a dozen babies and toddlers in the cafe at the time, and it seems to be popular with young families. Turned out there were facilities outside the main entrance, but they were filthy. I'd like to apologise to the establishment and staff for being such an imposition by bringing our baby, and we'll be sure not to bring him again. Edit: three years later, and looking for somewhere to stop off for a quick bite when visiting the area again, I stumble across my own review and am reminded to look elsewhere.

I really don’t understand the previous bad reviews as this place is a little gem. The decor inside is very cute, with mirrors foliage and cute lights with such a rustic feel. You are seated quickly and seen to within a few minutes for your order. Good variety of food (I have been a few times so able to see a lot of the menu!) with food always piping hot. Never greasy or give you the feeling of being cheap. It feels like you have gone out somewhere very special. The atmosphere is friendly and is suitable for catch ups with friends, family outings and those with children and infants. Every time I have been the staff work VERY hard, constantly checking if their guests are okay, cleaning tables and serving food. Every time I have been I have saw nothing but smiling faces from the staff and also every customer. For such a little place this is a gem!

Oh dear what an over priced shambles. £12.50 for a breakfast with 1 bacon and 1 sausage on it. They even forgot to put the sausage on my breakfast. No table check at all. The sandwich was obviously made with yesterday's bread so dry and poor. When I finally got my sausage there was no apology. Staff not clearing tables when they are going into the kitchen empty handed. Just poor value in food and experience. When I paid the bill I wasn't asked if everything was OK which is basic curtesy. Water hot choc says 4 scoops, I reckon there was 1 scoop as I could taste the water more than the chocolate. Very disappointed. Why oh why serve hot water chocolate, I’d pay £1-2 for this at a bonfire night, not at an establishment. My wife and I visited on 21 October and were given a table close to the entrance we both ordered a sandwich which we were enjoying until 3 people came in (all together) with FOUR large dogs which in my opinion constituted a trip hazard. After a few minutes one of the dogs was sick on the floor which obviously put us off our food the dogs were then taken outside by one of the party to wait for the other people. One of the group cleaned up the mess but the place then smelled of disinfectant. We are not anti dogs but there is sufficient room outside to sit with so many animals and it was not raining. We soon left and will not be returning I wish now I had refused to pay the bill but we were so keen to get out. The owners certainly didn't consider anyone else or the health and safety side of the situation all too common today I am afraid. The waiting staff were understandably embarrassed by the situation. Lovely location, and a reasonable choice of fayre. Sadly the system for ordering and then receiving your items is floored, because often the announcement of your order being ready is often so quiet it goes unheard. My only comment would be too much attention on the takeaway window meant we waited slightly longer than I'd have liked for how busy it was for a waiter to take our order. But that's being picky. Mushroom, artichoke ciabatta…lacking in filling, bread over baked, one end almost impossible to eat it was so hard. Salad limp and said coleslaw..none provided.. We had a fantastic cocktail making lesson with the most brilliant mixologist, Nathan! Thank you so much Nathan for your knowledge…and patience!

Once again, the outstanding catering and warm welcome provided on the eve of 17th September to my 26 guests was outstanding. Also, the attention to detail and glass of Prosecco made everyone feel truly welcomed and comfortable. As with last year the team under the direction of Richard Hill created another memorable preconference occasion, making everyone feel valued and appreciated which sadly is a rarity in many restaurants in this day and age!
