Great views, good service staff very pleasant. The food was mediocre and expensive for what it was. The fish finger sandwich I had simply consisted of 3 birds eye type fish fingers in a long baguette should have been at least 4 and I was expecting something better than a standard fishfinger

There are not many places that can accommodate 28 motorcyclists descending all at once for lunch on a Sunday, but that is exactly what the Olive Tree Bistro did yesterday. The staff were incredibly friendly, food to a high standard and served quickly. The cafe was very clean and tidy. It is certainly somewhere we will be returning to. Many thanks. Vastly overpriced quiche special The quiche was no more than a third of the sort of quiche you buy cheaply in any supermarket It was called mushroom I doubt there was even one whole mushroom in it It was billed as with skin on fries I hate spicy food so checked It arrived with Cajun fries When I objected some ordinary fries came The salad with it was adequate It was certainly not a meal to put on the specials board and quite a rip off Won’t be eating there again

This wasn’t my first visit and have always been satisfied with the food, a little over priced for a garden centre cafe but food good. This visit I ordered a Halloumi salad bowl. When it arrived i had to check the price £12.50, salad leaves, 4 chunks of cucumber, red onion, 2 cherry tomatoes, 4 strips of Halloumi No dressing, had to ask for dressing. I have been to restaurants and had a substantial main course for the same price or less. A salad bowl at that price point should be brimming with interest and filling. Left feeling hungry and ripped off.

We visited for lunch on Saturday 7th January; I put a previous review on here from a visit in November, which can be read below. However, I wanted to add further information. We ordered a range of dishes; all were excellent, really tasty, and very good portion sizes. My six year old son then decided that he wanted to try the jam sponge pudding for his pudding, which he didn't finish all of, so I finished it off - oh my goodness - this is the best jam sponge pudding I have ever tasted in my whole life (and I can assure you, I'm not a young man). I just cannot believe how good this pudding is. The next day, Sunday 8th January, we decided to go out for lunch again, and my son said that he wanted to go here again as he had enjoyed the food so much. On the second visit of the weekend, whilst my son had the same main course, my wife and I ordered something different for our mains. Yet again, excellent food and really good portion sizes. This time we ordered the jam sponge pudding and the chocolate pudding (again, the best chocolate pudding I have ever had); both were amazing, so much so that what we couldn't eat we took home to have in the evening. This place is amazing. The food is really lovely and the staff are excellent, and so attentive and accommodating. I've seen the negative reviews below, but we have been coming here for almost seven years now, and I do not recognise a single thing of what the negative reviews have said - I would recommend you just ignore all negative reviews and try it for yourself. In my humble view, this is currently the best place to eat out in Holmfirth; and the owner told us they are about to expand the menu, which is so exciting. Seriously, if you are reading this, you are thinking of visiting here - just go - you will not be disappointed and I suspect you will, thereafter, return many, many, many times, just as we have done. Ignore the negative reviews - in my experience over many years, this is not the experience you will have at this lovely venue - you will have a marvellous experience.

There isn't a 2 metre gap between all the tables or a 1 metre plus as in there is no obvious "plus" Its one thing allowing the odd dog its quite another when they start to outnumber the humans. No thought seems to be given to recognising not all customers want to be surrounded by over pampered dogs - they should have a separate section for dogs so people have a choice. Service is of a good enough standard but the bottom line is that some of the food products such as the sandwiches are mediocre and grossly overpriced and are simply not value for money. Its got nice views over the countryside but otherwise its a greenhouse lacking ambience

This is a restaurant where you can always be sure the staff will listen to you and accommodate any special dietary needs. My friend is dairy free and I am gluten free. For the first time I was able to have fish and chips; she had a burger of home reared beef. They offered her alternate dairy free bread. On the plus side, menus are always difficult to choose from because they have a continually changing list of special meals as well as a large choice of standard meals. The staff always put the customer's needs at the centre of their service and clearly enjoy doing so. In addition the pleasant surroundings and beautiful views from the windows make it the perfect place in which to sit and enjoy your food.

Very good for Sunday Lunch. Plenty of parking and garden centre attached looks really nice. Fabulous Yorkshire puddings, reasonable vegetarian options. Puddings were very well received. Worth going to for a reasonably priced but quality Sunday lunch with fabulous views.

This place is definitely worth visiting for the level of service alone. All the staff are smiley and friendly, the food is tasty and you get plenty. Great views with great food.

Great place for brunch and delicious cake for afters! Really lovely feel about the place! The food is always a delight! The only thing i will say is that the staff can sometimes come across a tad moody? Other than that i cant fault!

Called in for coffee, a toasted tea cake and a scone. £10.65. In itself that isn’t completely outrageous, but when my wife asked for a small amount of jam to go with her scone, they were going to charge even more and said we would have been asked when we ordered (we weren’t ). The coffee was lovely, but arrived about 20 minutes before the food, so the place really hasn’t got its act together.

Sunday lunch at Totties never fails to impress. The food is excellent, quality food cooked to a very high standard. Service is superb. All the staff who served us were polite, pleasant, professional and provided us with everything we needed. The setting is beautiful. Views across to Emley Moor on a clear day like today add to the already enjoyable experience. The Olive Bistro itself has a friendly, warm atmosphere giving every opportunity for a relaxed time. To finish the occasion nicely a wander around the garden centre and gift shop was perfect. It's been a superb afternoon, it's been so much more than Sunday lunch. Thank you Totties. See you very soon.

Went for lunch, my wife had the fish butty and I had the roast beef with onions and gravy. They were brilliant, a lot of fish and beef, and very tasty. Great ale on tap, what more could you want?

This was our 4th outing to this superb restaurant for Sunday lunch. Our friends were as impressed as we were once again. The food was outstanding, the service exemplary and we could not have been treated any more like VIP’s by Francis and his team. The entire experience was indeed just wonderful and we will be back again very soon. Thank you everyone. You’re true professionals.

Booked a table for 4 for 7:30, we arrived on time, were shown to our table swiftly and had good attention from the wait person. However, on booking the website said the table needed to be vacated by 9 [which is actually when they say they close mid-week]. It was 8:30 by the time our food arrived, which if we had had to leave at 9 was a joke. Maybe this was to give you time to buy the expensive drinks. I thought the soft drinks were highly priced. I had to ask twice for mayonnaise with the chips. As another reviewer has noted, it probably is a venue for the younger generation, we were next to a table who were so loud it was difficult to hear each other speak. The burgers were not as filling as I had expected for hand made [I had the Ho Chi Munch [which I thought for a veggie option was overpriced as beetroot is not as expensive as beef] , others had the Boss, the Old Skool & the LTO. I doubt if we'll go again.
