The Olive Branch Sowerby Bridge in Calderdale

We had the mixed grill each. Very disappointed at how tiny the portion was for a £20 dish! The menu also said it included lamb chops but there was only one. Still hungry after I'd finished. Plain but tasted good, what there was of it.

Pre gluten free diagnosis we loved this place , mixed platters of meat with cous cous etc , thought we’d give it a go as a coeliac … mmm.. restricted menu and on explaining to the server about my g/f needs she seemed very confused and did not fill me with any confidence that I wasn’t going to suffer the next day fortunately the chef must have been more accustomed to it and sent her back with a couple of tweaks they could do. It was nice but I would be happier if the staff were more confident around gluten free . Staff training day required.

Was looking forward to a meal out with my wife arrived early decided to sit away from window big mistake the noise from extractor fans in the kitchen and the traffic outside because they had the door open was awful. The food was extremely mediocre service expectable. Would I recommend not really would I go back. No. .

The food was stunning, as always, the chefs deserve a pay rise. What’s been a shame about the last couple of visits is that the staff generally seem disinterested, the service is poor, little to no enquiring for drinks, refills, asking when we sit down etc. The guy (possibly owner) is unfriendly to those whose face doesn’t seem to fit… he seems to take great interest in some customers but then others is just not bothered. The bathrooms were pretty vile, our table very sticky too, both surely easily remedied. I’m not sure what’s happened these last couple of visits, it’s just like something has changed. Thankfully the food is, as always, a true delight. I won’t rush to return, but if I did then I’d maybe give a takeaway a try.

Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend! Twinnies gave great service and made sure we had everything we wanted.

What a great bar really friendly staff, drinks prices where reasonable, very friendly locals aswell. Huge beer garden.

We were on a day out and stopped for lunch. I'm Vegan, and although there was nothing specifically labelled vegan on the menu, the lovely front of house lady went through the menu and discussed with me all the dishes they could adapt. I had mushrooms to start and then a vegetable pide, which was served with a complimentary dish of sautéed potatoes, as she said she didn't want me to leave hungry. Well I really didn't! Brought a takeaway box home with my leftovers - just going to have it for my tea, all lovely dishes! My husband's meal was great too.

Visited this weekend for birthday celebrations, friendly attentive staff. Menu has plenty of choice - we had a mix of pizzas , humus, chicken & lamb dishes and fahitas it was all really tasty , fresh, and hot. Cocktails were nice 👌 Would definitely return .

Took my Dad to the Olive Branch for an Birthday meal. It's a restaurant we have been to a few times before and always enjoyed. My husband and I made the mistake of ordering Sauteed chicken. It certainly wasn't sauteed and there was very little chicken, and the chicken that we did find in what was basically a bowl of soup with vegetables was not very nice either. This will be our last visit to the Olive Branch, and we wouldn't recommend it.

we came here on Friday night for my friends birthday. We ordered mix grill and the meat was spot on. Service was excellent had our food sent out quickly.staff were very friendly and it was an overall great visit

Had a terrible experience here today. We waited 45 minutes for our meal, the waitress kept asking the chef to hurry up. We ordered char grilled chicken for my husband and I ordered minced lamb which was supposed to come with flat bread, salad and dips. My husband had 6/7 small pieces of chicken which wasn't hot and a tiny amount of salad and bulgar rice. Nothing else. It was lost on the plate. My dish was basically cold and the minced lamb was stuck together like glue, tough and tasteless wrapped up in a wrap with some tomato sauce slapped on top. It was barely warm. We complained to the waitress who went to see the chef and came back with there were two skewers of chicken, there wasn't enough for 1 skewer! We told her we couldn't eat the food and she went to get the manager, considering we had already waited 45 minutes for our meal in the first place, we waited 10 minutes, no sign of the manager, then advised we were leaving, and left. Completely spoiled our evening. Prices gone up hut quality and quantity gone way down. Won't be going back.

12 of us went for a 40th! The waitress with the long brown hair was fabulous - we were all a bit loud and enjoying the drinks and nothing was too much trouble for her. We all had lots of different things and it was all amazing! They let us all split the bill and pay for things individually. Nothing was too much and we had an amazing afternoon and the food was beautiful. Will definitely be coming back to this place

Excellent as always, we are creatures of habit, so always order hot king prawns and lamb chops for me, and grilled Halloumi and Lamb Kofta for my dining companion. Great service and fabulous food, there is also a separate 2 course menu for £16.95 on certain days.

Booked a table for 5 for my sons birthday! The service was rubbish, kept asking if we wanted more drinks then forgot to bring half of the order . Totally got my daughters order wrong. When the burgers came for my hubby , son an son-in-law came they were laughable! You’d get more value from a mc Donald’s and probably taste better too! We asked for the menu for desserts and got told cheesecake or baklava! All the good stuff goes at the weekend 😱😱what’s that all about! We still had to pay the same prices!!!!! On that note give it a wide birth not worth the money and would only spoil your night like it did ours , worst experience ever!! DIRE AND DISGUSTING

Worst meal I’ve had for a long time food was poor, service was poor, got told they used all the good food at weekend and haven’t had time to shop. Should have gone to McDonald’s. Definitely won’t be going again.

It appears from managers reply to Google review the CCTV wasn’t working correctly either table booked at 6pm and paid for meal at 20.43 so clearly not a 10 minute wait. It’s funny he mentions no other complaints when the table behind us approached us on the way out and said they had also complained about their meal (again this will be on the cctv). The restaurant wasn’t that busy either. It’s a shame it’s gone down hill as we used to eat here regularly but with the experience from Thursday will not be returning. The manager handled this badly.

The food is tasty but needed more seasoning. I had the falafel to start which were nice but the salad and hummus I had to season. Even though the salad was dressed. For main I had the mixed grill. Again very under seasoned. But, once added was very nice. Unfortunately the service was quite dire. We had to ask for drinks on several occasions and on one occasion a drink had been clearly forgotten about so we had to remind the staff.

Came yesterday for date night and it was absolutely lovely. The two girls serving us were lovely and the atmosphere was lovely. Food was delicious and good size portions! My only criticism is we sat on the table next to the door and it was really sqeeky! But i would definitely recommend and will be coming back

Nothing against the food, hats of to the chef. The front of house staff, not good at all we asked to swap a few items and was agreed but when we got the bill was charged extra, won't be back. What a real shame

This fantastic restaurant never fails to deliver in terms of Great Food, Attentive Service from Ilias and the brilliant staff who go the extra mile to make your dining experience special. Consistently Great!!6 of us ate here last night to celebrate our friend's 18th Birthday. Excellent food, amazing fillet steaks (large and cooked to perfection!), super cocktails, pints of Efes :) and gorgeous Baklava. Super Value for money and I would recommend without hesitation and we'll be back very soon.

Was lucky enough to book a table. Only visiting the area so unsure what to expect. We needn't have worried the food was fabulous. We chose an early bird and there was ample food to enjoy. The cocktails were fab. The ambience was very good and the staff were more than accommodating. Pity this restaurant isn't by where I live. I would be making a visit regularly.

I can’t comment on this restaurant’s food because despite booking online we’ve just been turned away as they are full. Having had to walk away with a hungry child, I doubt we will be returning to see what the food is like.

Had a meal here Sunday evening the food was really good me and the wife enjoyed both our meals.Recommend the lamb cutlets the wife had lamb skewers both meals were very tasty our starters as part of the deal were also very good very reasonably priced.Would recommend this as a must go to place to eat if staying in Sowerby bridge.

Recently visited the Olive Branch and have to say one of the best meals out I’ve had in a long time. Me and my partner had a shared starter of the Sucuk (spicy sausage) which was amazing. For our mains my partner had fajitas and I had the chargrilled mixed grill which was a triumph!The booking process was simple and the service from the staff was fantastic and the cocktails brilliant. Will definitely be returning to sample more of the menu.

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful! The food was abosuletly incredible - already cannot wait to go back!

I come here with my friends regularly. Its our favourite place! Birthdays, mothers day, baby showers we've had them all here! The staff are amazing and always really welcoming and friendly so you feel relaxed and can eat and chat at your own pace, you're never rushed.The food is fantastic. Always cooked fresh to order so it comes out hot and full of flavour. We all usually order the same thing because it's so good; lamb chops! We have tried other things as well and it's all the same high quality, delicious food! I can't say enough positive things about this place, it really is fab and the best value for money place I've been to for a very long time!

My partner, daughter and I visited recently. We had steak and my daughter had a prawn cocktail starter as a main (she is 10) with some chips. The staff were wonderful as always and remembered that we can speak a little Greek. The live music was an unexpected treat. The restaurant was very busy. It the staff still managed to give us enough attention to feel welcome. Thank you and hope to see you soon if only for a takeaway.

My wife and I ate here on Sunday evening, taking advantage of the “2 courses for £13:95” offer.The service was good and the food enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed the chicken and lamb skewers, which we shared.The drinks are a bit expensive, but fairly typical of restaurants.By the time we’d had a few drinks and added a tip, the bill was £60 - not cheap, but ok.

Had a lovely family meal here last Friday and even though there was a large group of us the service was spot on as always. The good is delicious and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. We are regulars here and wheats look forward to going back. Thanks for a lovely evening

First time at the olive branch, what a lovely restaurant, staff very friendly and attentive but not intrusive, great menu, my wife had the lamb skewers which were delicious and plentiful, I had the t-bone steak which was the best steak I've ever had cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced, we will certainly be returning.

I had a pre-booked meal tonight for valentines at the Olive Branch. I chose the venue after having a decent lunch after a long walk in Hebden. On arrival they did mention a starter and main deal for £25. After the meal when we got the bill we were surprised to see they had added the deal even though we were over £8 under in total. When challenged they refused to change it. Almost like they were enforcing that deal on the night.Firstly, we never agreed to that deal and they did not mention it when booking. It was the general menu and not a special valentines menu. On inspection no starter and main combination adds up to that total. Therefore it’s not a deal in any way and a bit of a con.In terms of food. I’m a regular eating out around Ripponden and Sowerby and I don’t think it’s anything special. There are better places. The food is very similar to cafe passion and la Luna. But in general it was okay. I wouldn’t return based on my overall experience.

Struggling to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening we decided to try the Olive Branch & were delighted with the find. Starters of Prawn Cocktail & Mushrooms with Feta, fine. The sirloin steak was probably the finest I've eaten in a decade. Utterly flavoursome, cooked to perfection, and as requested and melted in the mouth like butter. Dessert options limited. One had Sundae, which was a medley of ice cream (could be improved with a touch of fruit), I had Turkish Baklava, it looked tiny but was absolutely beautiful (and enough). The fare was simple enough but well cooked and very flavour some. The staff were prompt, attentive & friendly. Cheerful surroundings. Good value for money at £44 including drinks. Well Done

We booked the Olive Branch in Sowerby Bridge for a Friday evening, we have been before on a Friday and knew the entertainment was good as well as the food.

We to our daughter and son in law here for their first wedding anniversary and had a very excellent meal. Prompt service, polite staff and excellent food and dtink

Had a delicious meal her with my Dad. We shared a cold meze to start and then I had a veggie moussaka which was really good. Shared a bottle of wine and had Irish coffees for pud - very reasonable. Have also been during the week when the 2 courses deal is on - would highly recommend!

Decided to go here after walking along the High Street as had nice menu and decor, but an especially nice bubbly front of house. It was a Thursday evening and the place was rammed and had a great atmosphere. The food was well presented, tasty and came in good time. Staff were especially helpful. Pretty much faultless and great value for money.

Glancing through the window, thought this was a pub, and dashed in out of the rain. Well, it turned out to be a bar cum Turkish eatery. Prices weren't dear, so I had a drink and ordered lunch, even though I've not had a Turkish meal for decades. I had a Babaganus starter, which was a sort of chopped-aubergine-in-creamy-sauce thing with a chopped-tomato-salsa thing and garlic bread. I don't like garlic bread, but the rest was OK. Then I had a superb fish meal of salmon, chips, salad, and yogurt, which I really enjoyed. With this I was drinking Efes lager. The young lady serving me was charming and efficient. Very glad I stumbled on this place.

We came for lunch today with a new born and elderly relative. The staff could not have been more kind, helpful and reassuring as we were clearly struggling just a little! We felt so relaxed and welcome.

After driving past the olive branch a million times and constantly saving we are going to go in. We eventually did! It defiantly won’t be the last time.

Recently went here for a friends birthday meal. The mixed grill was absolutely delicious so big I couldn’t finish it but the meats were cooked to perfection! Will definitely be back!

Portion sizes are generous and everything tastes amazing. Staff are attentive but not overbearing. Previoisly been to the Leeds branch and they are both really good. Perfect for dinner with friends or date night as the interior is lovely but nothing too pretentious :)

Booked about an hour before we arrived. Friendly greeting & shown straight to our table. The food is mainly chicken or lamb, either grilled or cooked in a sauce. The dishes we chose we're well cooked and tasty.

The food, atmosphere and service were superb. The price of the meal was also very reasonable, and the house red is a delight to drink.
