Really poor attempt at a Madras, Garlic naan and rice were OK.

We were staying in Halifax overnight for a concert at Piece Hall. Afterwards we wanted something to eat. While we were grateful Kamran was still serving food quite late, we did not enjoy the meal. The restaurant clearly caters for drunk males, but the staff show barely disguised disdain for them. We were treated in the same way. No genuine welcome, and very perfunctory service. The three dips that came with puppadums were watery and didn't taste good. The white one was inedible. Both main courses, a chicken karahi and chicken korma, were well spiced but the sauces very thin and watery. The plain naan was poor, too thick and doughy (a criticism raised in other reviews I have noticed). The staff seemed unhappy, and I guess catering to late night diners isn't fun, but hey if you're in the hospitality business you have to make an effort with your customers. The bill seemed more expensive than expected from the menu, but we were too tired and not in the mood to contest it.

Well they done it again, I happened to be in Halifax again (1month later) and the service, food and atmosphere are just impeccable. The same lady was working and made us feel like we know each other for years. Extremely professional, witty and charming. The food, outstanding and such a shame I had one have anything so good where I live in the South. Will be back who knows, might be a monthly thing haha Thanks again Nigena and team Jon

On a trip from the south thought we would pop in here quite late around 11pm thinking we would be turned away. Surprisingly, we were welcomed with open arms by a lovely lady called Nigena ( apologies if I haven't spekked this correctly) who served us throughout as if she had known us for years. Was a fantastic meal, nothing was too much for Nigena and was incredible all around. Certainly recommend and extremely well priced too. Thanks again Nigena and team! Will certainly come back

Takeaway delivery via JustEat. Food almost cold when it arrived. Poor onion bhajii. Not-very-nice naan bread. Bland jalfrezi. Aloo saag was OK. Really small portions, I'd never seen foil containers so small! (jalfrezi was 289 grams including container - that's below "standard industry weight") so they're definitely cutting corners. I also see they're now ranked 2 stars out of 5 on hygiene "Scores on the Doors". Looks like another place that's gone downhill. Won't be ordering from here again.

Prices on the Menu are £2/£3 less than what they actually charge you . Food arrived cold . Curry was all spilt in the bag so lost half of it and I was also cold . They missed things off the order then it took nearly an hour for them to come out with the rest of the order . Food didn’t taste very nice either . First time ordering with them and will defo be the last time as well . Do NOT recommend at all

Prices online totally different to takeaway prices, defo not value for money... Once it arrived curry was all over the bag and other items, and was missing the birds garlic nan didn't here the end of it.. for 40 pound was expecting it to be abit more on point it was the first time ordering aswel... 20 mins after we finished our food a garlic nan turned up at the door it just went in bin!!! Not amazing but not bad food...

I’ve had better microwave meals Very rushed and not good quality food at all. Beer was expensive. Only a small thing, but we were asked to keep our knives and forks from our starter for our main. For me, this is something that happens at home, not in a restaurant

First time we have eaten here, but it won't be the last. Took a chance as we hadn't been here before, but it was lovely. We were made to feel really welcome and were advised on food that I was unfamiliar with. Nageena served us and she was helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed our food. I had masala fish and my husband had king prawn korma. He's not usually a fan of Indian food, but he really loved it. Thank you!

We ordered garlic naans, chana balti, chicken do piaza and chicken bhuna for takeaway. The naans were uncooked thick lumps of raw dough (looks only burnt from the surface). The curries were just tasteless vegetables, chicken pieces dumped into tomato purees. We ordered the food based on reviews but the food was very disappointing.

we have had a number of take aways from Kamrans and I have to say they have always been good, no problems at all. my fav is their samosas the best i've had in a long time.

Just visited with my partner and daughter. Food was amazing and the waitress was so lovely and friendly! Will be returning but only on the Friday or Saturday as that's when she's working 😂 Great value as well and offered takeaway.

I've had many take aways and many meals inside. I've lived in halifax for 3 years now and tried all the locals and this takes 1st prize, and all the staff are really nice. Tonight we had the 'tawa for 2' and it was perfect. update# the last few visits have been a little hit and miss - I normally get the same but it can be very different and has been poor once or twice - not sure if there's been a change of owners or not but i'm hoping it picks back up again.

I have been going to Kamran for a lot of years and they were always good. Last week we got a takeaway the starters were very poor they were cold and pale however, i put this down to a one off and it being a takeaway. I went in last night to eat inside I ordered a starter and a main when I eventually got served (it wasn’t busy only 6 other people in) the starters can and were warm on the outside and very cold on the inside. I didn’t complain or ask for a replacement I just mentioned it to the manager when she was taking my plate I didn’t expect the reaction I received. She was rude loud and extremely unprofessional. She just kept repeating that she wasn’t going to replace them, which I didn’t ask for or want. This will be the last time I eat from here. Definitely would NOT recommend

Usually such a great place to eat: tonight was beyond disappointment, 20 minutes awaiting to order watching everyone around ordering and eating. Starter and main arriving together with no beverages atill served was unacceptable. Starter burnt chicken bones found in food, when requested to not have any further food was abused verbally and told To Leave the premises. totally understand a busy night of service but if normal standards can’t be met don’t Accept the business and leave customers disappointed

Ordered along with a meal chicken passanda, wasn't told it comes mild,medium or hot, so it was way to hot to eat,rang up and complained and was greeted by a very rude manager. Offered to bring out a chicken korma, they did with complementary salad consisting of a lettuce leaf, and one bit of cucumber. And complementary onion bajis which was so dry. my king prawn byriani had two prawns in that was it.. I'm not one to moan, but rude manager, awful food. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. Oh one compliment the guy who delivered it was nice.

If I could rate this -10 I would Absolutely atrocious.hot passanda instead of mild,2 prawns in biryani,redelivered a korma and that was like water, had 3 arguments with the men staff on phone but lady was nice and apologetic, delivery guy who we saw twice was also apologetic hopefully we survive the night

Went here before a concert at Victoria Theatre which is nearby. Don’t be put off by the frontage which looks nothing special, the restaurant is located upstairs and the room is nice and light. Friendly staff and standard curry house menu. Food good and reasonably priced. Recommend particularly if going to a Victoria Theatre event.

Excellent Wow what a change, not been here for over 8 years, apparently a change of hands circa 6 years ago. Last time I came I walked out as they sent wrong meals twice and service was shocking. The new owners have definitely turned the place around. I had chicken mushroom balti and peshwari naan. Hands down one of the best curries I've had for some time. Will defeninately be back and very soon.

Absolute little gem of a curry house. Not from around these parts but came in with my better half at the weekend. The waitress was absolutely brilliant, she was so attentive and couldn't do enough for us. The chicken bhuna was to die for and the mixed starter was beautiful.. Will definitely be back when I'm in Halifax again.

This place is great - upstairs, unpretentious, good portion size and delicious food (best mango lassi I've had...) and the prices are great, too. We've been coming here for 6 or 7 years, easily, and have never had a bad meal.

Ordered a takeaway, arrived promptly. Too fast really! It was quite frankly the worst takeaway I have ever had. 1 × Normal Tandoori Naan £3.20 1 × Chappati £0.65 1 × Aloo Saag Side £5.80 1 × Meat Tikka Makhani £9.20 1 × Chicken Tikka Karahi £9.80 1 × Mixed Tikka Starter £5.50 3 × Popadom £0.65 1 × Pickle Tray A total of £39.70 The yogurt in the pickle tray tasted fizzy. The tandoori chicken & meat was very dry, chewy, sinewy. Two small pieces of each poorly cooked and the smallest salad I have ever seen. Truly awful. My main course chicken Tikka Karachi was inedible, tough and dry. I used the chipati to dip in sauce and left the chicken. The meat Makhani meat was very dry, chewy and sinuey and of poor quality. I might point out that all of the restaurant dishes are half the size of normal takeaway sizes in view of the quality of their ingredients!!!!!!!!! I contacted the restaurant to complain about the starters, having not even tried mains at this point to which they offered to send out another starter. I advised them of the fizzy tasting yogurt dip which was very bitter as well. The delivery driver of the replacement starter said he could not find our house even though I gave instructions, my husband went to meet the driver at our gate and he disappeared and drove off without the new starter. I am not in the habit of complaining but quite frankly the meal was well and truly awful and I won’t use the restaurant again

This place used to be great. Went there yesterday with two friends and we were so disappointed. Everything was poor, portion size, food quality, etc We won't be returning.

Staff need to attend a course on hospitality. Asked what red wine they had and was shown a bottle of white and rose already opened. Opted for a gin and tonic (tumbler glass given which looked like a glass of lemonade). Curry could have been anything. Saying that poppadoms and chapattis were nice. Bill brought to table without asking if would like anything else or if everything had been OK. Overall very disappointing. Will ot be back again.

Will never get food from here again. One of the worse curry's I've ever had. Far to hot and FULL of salt. Absolutely vile chapatis where hard and the rice was tasteless.

Ordered buttered lamb with chapati tonight . Delivery bang on time. Food always bang on. Never had reason to complain as standards are excellent. Buttered lamb was amazing. Thanks

Absolutely vile korma was too sweet, the buna was like ketchup and the chapati was chewy we left one whole curry and wasted 30 pound highly recommend people avoid this one

Below average curry house. The chuntney on the pickle tray tasted like it was watered down. The rice that came with the main course was lumpy and over cooked. The curry itself was average. Probably the most disappointing thing was the staff. The waitress seemed to want everybody out and I overheard her shouting at the chefs to hurry up.

Friendly but small place. Food is nice enough, nothing special but ok. Service was great and waiting times were short. Place filled up quickly and seems popular.

Absolutely fantastic. Called in with a friend after we had been out in Halifax for a few beers. Was greeted and made to feel welcome, we served FREE poppadoms and pickle tray, then we had 2 curries with sides and 2 alcoholic drinks. Every thing was so fresh, I can not fault anything at all. Yes the alcohol was abit pricey at £4 a pint. But overall it was the best Indian food I have ever eaten, without a shadow of doubt. Food prices are very average, but The food is 10/10. Great food, great service, great experience.

Fresh food, staff we're very attentive and friendly, nothing was a problem - it made our evening. Oh, and the price was very fair! Highly recommended.

Excellent tasting curry and quick service

The desperately sad thing about halifax town centre is the lack of a quality indian restaurant, as at Feb 22 there are none! The Kamran has been around for years, it offers a basic Indian in a very basic restaurant. If you want a quick no nonsense basic curry this works if you're after anything more upmarket you wont be impressed.

I'm a vegan and they made me a lovely vegetable curry and nice big fresh chapattis. Will definitely be popping back again, lovely food and friendly welcoming staff here too.

My husband & myself have been regular customers for the the last 9 years & have always had great food ...... but after tonights experience i will never ever order from them again. Infact everything is boxed up & going to trading standards on Monday morning

Naan was limp and soggy, was also covered in some kind of paste/cheese which i assume was garlic? Wet cardboard has more life to it than the chips. Poppadoms tasted stale. Paneer masala was bland and watery. Really poor overall but was hungry and had waited an hour.

Possibly worst curry I’ve ever eaten in my life !! Asked for vegetable rice and they pretty much put chopped frozen carrots and peas in the pilau rice and some of the carrots was still frozen

Came here after the show at nearby Victoria Theater. Food was spot on, fresh poppadoms and fresh onion bajies are always a good indicator that the other dishes will be good. Basic seating and tables but good value for money fresh food. Unfortunately no coffees...

This basic restaurant sells fairly cheap food compared to many of its counterparts. Unfortunately, you can tell that, from the quality of the dishes. Service was good. Cash only , no cards.

Disgusting so called authentic indian restaurant, £23 for 2 Currys with chappatis, (takeaway) asked for mint sauce, got a teaspoon of old yoghurt in a pot. But we did get 2 free poppadoms which is all we ate ,the rest the bin duly devoured , avoid and stay hungry!!

Unfortunately the signs said cash only which I find dubious especially in Covid times. Surely card is safer. So didn't actually go in....

I ordered through the uber eats app costing over £21 and it was atrocious. First of all the food came 2hrs late for when it was supposed to arrive and the restaurant had the audacity to blame the uber drive when in fact the restaurant had not even prepared my order. Secondly the food came cold except the chips. Overall the food tasted nothing like I thought it would. They call them selves an Iindian takeaway but their chicken masala curry tasted sweet and looked as if it was boiled in straight up Tesco tomato sauce. The pepperoni pizza tasted like a cheap freezer pizza and when it arrived it was cold I had to reheat it in the micro for like 2 mins. The chips came cold however they seemed like leftovers and were very soggy, as if they had been in the box for an eternity. Although, they did give us two free popadoms (that tasted like cardboard). But they were the only thing I truly enjoyed. Sadly most of it ended in the bin as it just looked inedible had to go back to my freezer microwaveable meals, they filled me up and tasted decent. This was probably the worst experience I have gotten from a restaurant that had decent reviews, was truly disappointed.

Me and my mate went for a curry last night we ordered our food was spot on when arrived taste fresh good taste , the staff was warm welcoming and polite ,made sure if everything was alright couldn't ask anything else was all spot on . Highly recommended will be back soon

Host was amazing! So bubbly and chatty. Really welcomed us. Food was good. Choice of beer was good. Had Cobra on tap. Only downfall was cash only.

We dined here on Friday evening as it was close to our hotel and the weather was very, very hot so didn’t want to go far. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs and not very big. The air conditioning was either not working...

Hmmm, food wasn't correct. The chicken Madras I ordered tasted like chicken in tomato soup. Definitely not how it was supposed to taste. Chapattis were uneven. I didn't want to post a bad post against these guys and I am willing to give it another chance. I don't believe it was them on the best day. I struggled to eat a very mild curry which was supposed to be Madras hot

The welcome was lovely...the staff very attentive...absolutely loved this place...the food was probably the best Indian I've had in a long time..as a sole traveller I was made to feel very welcome.
