Absolutely fantastic! This dish and chip shop offers a lovely experience. The fish is always perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the chips are golden, fluffy, and cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly and attentive, Clean, cozy, and consistently delicious. Highly recommend!

Terrible, I forced myself to eat this and spent most of the meal fighting the urge to just leave it and go hungry. The batter was thick and soggy, the fish and chips were flavourless, the were chips anaemic with no crisp. Curry sauce was watery and too spicy to eat, and the mushy peas had no taste whatsoever. I feel terrible leaving a review like this but based on this visit and other reviews I think it’ll be only a matter of time before thus business goes out of business. I’m assuming it’s been taken over recently as the food used to be brilliant. Best advice I can give the management is make some change to your product, cooking methods and get some customers in to taste test.

The ding of the microwave was the first tell-tail sign. We ordered 2 shish kebabs and chips. The kebab wraps had the salad placed inside along with the meat….. then the whole thing under the sandwich toaster to create a radioactive lettuce sausage. I believe the chips were cooked yesterday or possibly the day before.

Twice got my order wrong previously And on a delivery recently i rang them up to ask what time my delivery left them, I was told to wait one moment and they hung up on me, And when I tried to call straight back they would not answer the phone. Abit shocking really especially a business in beaconsfield.

I always feel sad to write a one star review as it’s people’s livelihoods but….they also need to know. Having used the ‘Friar’ many times in previous visits over the years and had reasonable fish and chips this was a real disappointment. The fish batter was wet inside, almost slimy. The oil can’t have been hot enough or food in for long enough. The chips were pale and limp with no taste. Having eaten a range of fish and chips from brilliant to poor this is the first time we have not even finished half the food. Really need to learn how to cook fish and chips properly if the current owners want to continue.

The worst fish and chips I have ever had. Have bought from here a few years back so thought I’d give it another try as they were open when my preferred go to wasn’t. I had a feeling things were not good when I walked in to order, the fish was cooked fresh!! The chips were already cooked, put together when I got home I put it straight in the bin. It tasted awful, the the batter on the fish was not palatable and the chips were stale. Never again!!!

We travel 10 minutes to visit the old town friar rather than other options closer. 8 meals were freshly prepared within 15 minutes, we had great portion sizes, fresh fish and the perfect batter. Would highly recommend visiting.

Absolutely the worst chip shop, the chips are like anemic razor blades and the pies are so dry inside,

Until recently this was, hands down, the very best take-away food outlet anywhere. My business is local and for years we have used it whenever we have been working late, and often at lunchtimes. But it recently changed hands, the quality of food plummeted through the floor and the quality/friendliness of service even further. I’m working late tonight, and have got back to the office with my meal, which is inedible. The man who served me when I collected it was surly to the point of rudeness, too. That will be the last time.

Im from Yorkshire, and I can proudly say this was one of the best fish and chips I've had in a while. Absolutely amazing, the cod batter light and crispy, melting in your mouth. The chips soft and succulent, not forgetting the massive portion sizes. Have I say, ill definitely be back!

The worst chip shop I have ever been too. Family been sick all night after eating. Total rubbish. Food arrived and it was so greasy and tasteless. The chips burnt, ordered via Uber eats and would not recommend it at all: garage.

Food was ok but found it expensive for what it was puddings nearly £6 each so for 4 adults and 2 children over £100 not the hungry horse it use to be

I didn’t try the food, but it looked great. I’ll definitely be returning soon to give it a try

Nice little classic tea rooms. We had sandwiches along with tea and coffee. Followed by a nice peice of cake. Lady serving was very nice and prepared good food in nice time.

A lovely local english pub! Great access for parking. Outdoor seating is plenty and very comfortable. Playground for the 7+yo kiddies, and chickens for the younger kids. Food was absolutely delicious, and super quick! Service was attentive and friendly. A plate we ordered was forgotten, and they swiftly arranged it and took the cost off the bill! I recommend the Palmer Ale!

Visited on a Monday evening. It was pretty quiet. In some pubs this is a recipe for ropey beer as what's in the pumps is stale and nasty but not here. Drank two pints of London Pride as good as any I've had. We ate too - the sandwiches and wraps were fine. Not sure a Frenchman would recognise the baguette but the long bap served up was tasty enough. All told, a good visit. (Update) Visited on a wet Thursday evening. The pub was busy but not full. We were seated easily. The beer was still good (Doom Bar this time). My companions reported that their sandwiches and wraps were great. I had a pizza, which was massive and delicious. Update: Visited for Sunday lunch. Beef and Pork roast dinners excellent. Our friends had sandwiches which were also praised, as were the chips. Drinks and service great. Can still recommend.
