First time today that we had lunch in the star it was lovely peri peri chicken sandwiches and home made chips lovely atmosphere along with friendly staff and really reasonable prices !!! Log fire roaring in the background definitely worth a visit would highly recommend

visited this pub after a family funeral the buffet provided was excellent as were the friendy staff also surprised at how cheap the drinks were which is so unusual in the current climate. Well Done Guys

Me and my family went for a drink there over the weekend place is very clean and tidy lovely outside area to eat or drink would recommend this place to walks and people who live near by

I have been using 'The Star' as my local for over forty years and seen it change hands many times. Today it is one of the few traditional pubs that remain in the town. They have a cafe through the day serving passing trade and is always busy. It is a firm favourite for tradesmen and those who work or live nearby. They also have a snack/ breakfast delivery service to the local area. Sports bar at the front of the house and lounge bar to the rear. They cater quite frequently for occasions such as Weddings and Funerals and appear to be very popular for those.

I love this pub great owner, great atmoshere. Locals are very talkative, and chatty. The beer good, and the football.

Use the old star bites all the time for weekend breakfasts, such a godsend when you want a lazy morning and the quality and price are also great. Anything from full breakfast to the breakfast sandwiches are always enjoyed, think they do the other meals too on delivery. If you’ve not tried here give it a go

I actually almost cried when I was eating my main. SO flavorsome! The froth on the beer made my taste buds tingle. My mouth was moist with excitement.

I go the star with my dad for breakfast at least once a fortnight, it's always lovely and fresh & very cheap. . Myself & my dad wouldn't go anywhere else.. 5 golden stars :)

My son came to visit us so decided to go for a pub meal for tea, after reading the good reviews on this pub we thought we would give it a try, as we walked in the front door we was greeted with a screaming boy waving a snooker cue around, needless to say we turned around and back out the door.

The star is run by Ernie Welch, has a great selection of beers, pool room, and live music venue. Has a Bar and lounge, nice pleasant staff. Good outside area in the good weather

We were greeted by a friendly barmaid, served with drinks and given a menu which offered classic pub grub, we ordered burgers, omelette and chips which arrived quickly and was piping hot and very tasty. The drinks and food were very reasonably priced. We will make this a regular pace for lunch.

Ate an excellent freshly cooked full english breakfast here & it was spot on, complete with a mug of tea & fresh toast. Clean & well run traditional pub. It is the first time I have ever seen a hairdryer & a set of straighteners in a ladies loo. This place must really care about its customers

We attended our friends surprise party and really enjoyed ourself's a traditional pub with a great selection of drinks and at a very reasonable price in fact I'm struggling to think of another pub as cheap. There was a buffet which had a good selection of sandwiches and pies etc . They had the football on in the back ground so I was able to keep one eye on the score . There is an outside seating area but the typical English rain put that out of bounds . We would certainly enjoy other evening here and would recommend it

Great local pub, friendly staff and landlord, good food, good atmosphere and never any trouble (even when the football is on) so all in all a great little boozer to visit if you fancy a bite and a pint....

Lugar ideal para hacer un poco! Éramos parte de un grupo grande de gente y la comida era abundante y absolutamente deliciosos, prefecto buffet y un montón de todo! Los precios en el bar y un montón de espacio para todo el mundo. Si está lloviendo, el lugar podría lucha capacidad para grupos grandes. Tuvimos suerte con el tiempo. En general, vale la pena mirar en tu próxima reuniones.

Un gran pub local. El personal era fantástico y amable. Si puedes conseguir aquí entre las 8 am y 1 pm todos los días, pero para el domingo el desayuno inglés es altamente recomendable. Comida recién hecha y no cuestan una fortuna. Desayuno con dos cervezas por menos de 10 libras :-)

La antigua estrella es un lugar muy amable el personal aperfect siempre tienen tiempo para ti nothings mucho comida problema es excelente y muy razonable de precio, gran lugar para encontrarse con amigos.

Una cálida bienvenida en un ambiente agradable y relajado. Una buena selección de cervezas a precios razonables. Variedad de entretenimiento que incluye varias pantallas de deportes, discoteca, karaoke y actos en vivo.

Good local pub. Ernie the landlord works very hard to ensure that people feel welcome. The food is extremely cheap. A very friendly place to visit. Often has live music or charity events.

Went a few weeks ago for some Saturday drinks and I liked it very much. Not eaten, but found it a very pleasant place to go for a drink. Need to go again for sure

This pub is good and if your in Winsford it would definitely be worth your while making a visit for a pint and a bite.

The breakfast is a super choice and served fresh. The service is fantastic and all the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you. Would I go back? MOST DEFINITELY

Ordered from the old star for a breakfast to be delivered 50 minutes later it Turned up cold! Bacon was burnt and dry and tough, hard to chew! Sausage was black! Black pudding was dry! The only nice thing about it was the tinned tomatoes! Will not be eating there or ordering again!

I popped in to The Old Star and was made to feel so welcome, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced and quick service for fresh home cooked food.The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to make our visit special.I can't wait to visit again.

Loved the star, My girlfriend lives on the doorstep basically (well her family does)I frequented this place when I was over from australia with her to visit the family and it was a great local pub, good people, nice staff, tasty pints. Sadly I didnt have a meal here but the sandwiches looked yummy so maybe this time I will come back for a pub lunch and a sit in the sunshine.If your in the area go and support the local and maybe get in some good tunes on the jukebox and a few rounds of pool.

A chum of mine and I have popped in here occasionally for a spot of lunch, being local chaps.Couldn't fault it. Good hearty portions, well presented home cooked type fare at a very reasonable price.If you are after a pie and chips and a natter on a weekday then can't knock it (not tried it at weekend but would imagine gets busy with football).Great local boozer, very much a world apart from when previous landlords (I use the term loosely) had it. The proprietor Ernie has done an amazing job turning it round.Decent beers, friendly bar staff, good atmosphere and a range of customers from young to old. Everything a local should be.
