A lovely coastal walk from Newport. Coming off Dina’s Head was the welcoming site of the Old Sailor. Outside seating only, but we managed a lovely burger, vegan chilli and a couple of Bluestone pints in between showers. James’s taxi took us back in 10 mins after walking 3 hours to get there! All worth it.

Yummy lunch with fabulous views. We called in advance and booked a table. We were very lucky as it was a warm October day so we sat outside. Service is super friendly and efficient. All COVID friendly. They’re operating a different menu and opening times than is displayed so I’d recommend calling. I was looking forward to the seafood linguine but it wasn’t on the menu so 3 of us opted for the Atlantic prawn salad. My other half went for the lasagna. Wow amazing portion sizes and super fresh. It was delicious. The best new potatoes I have tasted in a while. The only negative for me was the lack of a finger bowl, but to be honest I could have asked for one. Would definitely recommend a visit/be going back.

We booked to eat at this pub last Saturday night and we weren't told when making the booking that we could only eat outside (19:00 booking) this appeared to be the case for some other dinners who were sat in the beer garden too. I do appreciate a reduced menu, but £14 for a very mediocre burger that went cold very quickly as a very disappointing. Also on the Sunday afternoon we did the Dinas Island walk which starts and finishes at the pub, on completing the walk we had a very nice pint in the beer garden as it was a scorcher to find that it closed at 15:00 - the beer garden was full and people kept coming - i really don't now how money the pub turned away and most likley one of the last hot weekends of the year. I thought it may have been a licence thing but was told they always close at 15:00 and would reopen on Tuesday.Overall very disappointed.

Every meal we had was delicious and tasted fresh. The children's burger was great, the seafood linguini was apparently amazing, steak good quality and my lasagne and chips was delicious. We did have to queue for a long time despite booking table, but it was worth the wait and the staff seemed to be working as quickly as they could. Will definitely return when visiting the area in the future.

Bog standard pub food by any standard,a little pricey considering, and a long wait for it to arrive. I dont want to be harsh as we ate outside during lockdown restrictions but there were only a few tables eating and the place was far from heaving. It wasnt worth the specific trip we made.

Just to flag that the Old Sailors is only doing sandwiches, soup, etc for lunch at the moment as it's quiet. We'd been looking for a good seafood place, liked the sound of what we read and neither its website nor Tripadvisor said its menu had altered. Luckily we rang first before making the trip so didn't bother. They didn't say whether the lunch menu would be any different at weekends but best check if you're thinking of going.

The Old Sailors is in an idyllic spot right next to a lovely little beach and right on the coastal path that leads to Dinas Head and beyond. We’ve eat here a number of times and the welcome is always warm. There is a good menu which isn’t too pretentious or fussy. The prices are a tad high but then no more so than locally in Newport. All in all well worth a visit. I would recommend booking ahead at busy times.

We visited on two occasions at the beginning of Sept, on the first the service was slow and very disorganised. We were nearly put off by a member of staff who was at the bar and very agitated venting that someone had annoyed her and she might go home. This is the cleaned up version I have omitted the profanities. We decided to ignore this and ordered food to eat out in the garden. The food was brilliant fresh well cooked and very tasty. While we were eating a male member of staff we assumed in the kitchen also then kicked off swearing and throwing things around, everyone in the garden and restaurant could hear every word. I'm no prude but there were young children there and not what you want to hear when eating your Sunday lunch. We again visited later in our holiday and again found the service staff slow and disorganised. We queue at the bar for nearly fifteen minutes to be informed that unless we ordered really quickly we would not be served food due to all the bookings although at the time the restaurant was empty and there was only a few people in the garden.I hope our experiences were a glitch in a premises that gets such good reviews and the food we did have was lovely.

Staying at nearby Dinas Cross for the week we wanted to find a nice place ot eat by the coast and stumbled across the Old Sailors when out on a walk on the coastal path. We had a beer in the lovely garden looking out over the bay that afternoon and booked a table for an evening meal - shame evening openings are limited. The food was great and farily priced. The mussels were tender and very tasty as was the hake special and fushy starters. It was so nice we booked for a second evening's meal later in the week, which again was really good quality food - the burger had various cuts of tasty beef and several trimmings. What really made the Old Sailors stand out for us was its setting - just behind the beach in a beautiful small bay, looking out to the lights of Fishguard and with the sun setting across the bay. The other clincher was the service/hosting - on the three occasions we visited we were looked after by four different staff, all of whom were friendly and, despite the pub being busy most of the time, had time to share a few words with us. The landlord - Adam I think - was really charming and positive. Just a shame we were only in Pembrokeshire for a week!

Had lunch here last week [4 adults and 2 children] after walking round Dinas Head to work up an appetite. It's the perfect lunch stop after this walk! 4 not 5 star as quite a few things on the menu had sold out [12.30pm table], but as explained this was because they had a mad few days with the weather and were trying to catch up. The options we had were fantastic - sea bass fillets, cajun burgers [properly spicy], ploughmans and the spicy bean vegy dish which was amazing [so many vegy dishes lack flavour]. We ate outside and the service was all very good. We will be back again next year!

Not at all your bog standard pub food but high quality food, cooked with style and homemade grace and taste. This is a rarity in itself these days and the Old Sailors certainly stands out for that. Very decent wines too. It is clear that the owners have put taste and quality high up on their list of priorities while keeping the prices affordable (£12 for a huge Ploughmans with homemade chutneys, £13 for fish and chips (real chips!) etc.

When the food came my Fish (lovely fish but batter a bit greasy) and Chips were good and the mushy garden peas very nice, my husbands selection of fresh vegetables was a delight but he was a bit dissapointed that the pie wasn’t as hot as it could have been. In retrospect he should have asked to have it warmed up a bit more. The steak in it was lovely and tender and the gravy tasty and rich. We then had a Sticky Toffee Pudding and Ice Cream to share - yummy! Coffee was hot and good. £40 ish. Shall go again but will choose a better day so we can sit nearer the sea and drink in the view!

A welcome sight after walking the Coast Path from Fishguard. Beautiful little place with a great selection of food and drinks. Lovely young gentlemen staff / managers. Fortunately on my 2 visits the weather was favourable otherwise I wouldn't have been able to stay as dogs are not allowed inside.

We stopped here for a drink whilst awaiting a garage to come and look at our car. The location is fantastic and literally a stone's throw from the beach.

We are originally from Pembrokeshire and come home several times a year to visit family. We always do the walk from Cwm yr Eglwys to Pwllgwaelod with the children, book a table here and usually have a lovely lunch in a friendly atmosphere but unfortunately that wasn’t the case today. We booked as usual, for 4 adults & 2 children-when we arrived we were given a table by the door in the bar. I asked if it was possible to sit in the other area near the window where we usually sit & are out the way of lots of through traffic but was told no children were allowed in there. I did query it with the barman as we normally sit there but was told no children allowed as they’d had 1 family in with children that had ‘run wild’ so they’d put a stop to it, the other member of staff commented that he “liked children, went to school with a lot of them but other people don’t always like them”. We sat down, ate our meal but it was all rather unwelcoming. The bar area had several other tables occupied, however the other area where we had requested to sit remained vacant. We didn’t stay for a dessert as we felt too uncomfortable. So the review is really to make other families aware, no longer is this a family friendly place which is such a shame as we all loved our little walk & lunch when home. No doubt a member of staff will come back with a rather rude reply to this review.

Even the foggy weather did not detract from the stunning location of the Old Sailors in Dinas. A warm and friendly reception was rounded off by great food. All at a very reasonable price. My family and I will be making many return visits to the Old Sailors in the future.

Got the Poppit Rocket bus to here so we could walk the coast path back. Decided to start with a beer and a bowl of chips. Waited a really long time for the chips before going back to ask about the delay (they were busy, and it was lunchtime). They admitted that they had forgotten to send the order to the kitchen.

Had an evening meal here on a very busy night. The staff were rushed off their feet but managed to remain cheerful and smiling throughout. We decided to treat ourselves to lobster, but were slightly disappointed by the size, although we enjoyed the evening as a whole. It's lovely to be able to look out at the sea and cliffs, and over the bay to watch the ferry coming into Fishguard. The restaurant is rustic, as you would expect for the location. It's nicely decorated with a nautical theme. Parking in the evening is easy.

I’ve eaten here 3 times so far and have not been disappointed. Yesterdays food was a massive breakfast served in takeaway trays so we could eat at work. Food was cooked well and not greasy. Good prese
