Went for a supposed nice meal with my sister this evening whilst on holiday. Menu very scant, not much choice, ordered 2 pizzas,1 Margherita,2nd Pepper pizza. Both arrived within approx 10 mins. The margherita was supposed to have 4 different types of cheese on,there was hardly any cheese on whatsoever, see pictures. The pepper one had cold peppers thrown on top. Both pizzas had a scant scattering of dried herbs on top. Both pizzas looked to have been cooked from frozen and they were absolutely disgusting and not even hot. The chopping board that the pizza was served on was dirty,God knows what it had been used for before. Staff not interested in even asking how the food was, didn't seem interested in customers at all. Do not eat there £30 for 2 frozen pizzas and 2 drinks absolutely disgusting.

We stayed here as a Motorhome pub stopover for one night and loved it. Super friendly Barman (in Pot arm) and really friendly and helpful chef who cooked us some amazing food, that was so tasty. We had a lovely view out over the fields from our Moho. Watching the sheep and rabbits. Dog friendly, although ours were sleeping in moho as we ate. If I had to nit pick, the car park boundary could do with a litter pick. Would defo return here again. You were all a pleasure. Thank you. Gary & Lisa

We had booked here for Sunday lunch and arrived in our campervan early, booked in and then set of for a walk to work up an appetite. We enjoyed a nice stroll to Thirsk racecourse/Lidl before turning around and returning to the pub. We opted for a drink before lunch and then went to the carvery: choice of meats including beef, pork and turkey we also had roast potatoes, veggies and stuffing and crackling! Nice lunch, which we rounded off with a home-made pudding (sponge and custard for husband and stuffed cookie dough and ice cream for me). Well worth a visit!

Ordered cheeseburger & supposedly India curry, burger wasn’t too bad but nothing to write home about, in fact I fed dog 1 of them, she quite enjoyed, the curry is another story, you couldn’t or shouldn’t call it curry it was tiny pieces of chicken marinated in god knows what! No sauce what so ever Total waste of money not that I’d say it was expensive £21.95 for both, but absolutely no quality, should have read the signs and walked out when we were the only 2 in there, won’t be back!!

This USED to be a great value place to eat and drink. BUT now it’s really downgraded. Don’t get me wrong if you enjoy the staffs screaming kids running around bumping into to you then its the place to go. The food used to be hot tasty and a realistic price but now its all frozen veg overpriced small cold portions and pricey beers. The toilets always stink. Still no lock on the ladies door. The outside area is always a drab mess which when nice weather has the same kids kicking footballs about. The staff always look miserable and non helpful and treat it as a family crèche and family gathering event rather than immerse themselves into what could be a rather profitable business. Give this place a swerve ….. don’t get me started on The Vale of York either 🫣

Left most of it. Looked at other people’s plates and they had left most of theirs . Most of the veg was cold, gravy was watery, no apple sauce for the pork roast potatoes were cut into little squares and were very hard. Told the waitress she just said she would tell them. No sorry . Disgusted by their children running around behind the carvery counter. I couldn’t believe it when one of them came from behind there on a scooter and was riding it about between the people. Greeted by the bar staff, asked about food, given menu's and drinks placed on the tab without hesitation. Menu, including specials a little limited and basic. Food arrived a short time later, hot and whilst not packed with flavour it was adequate. The pub wasn't that busy, but all our needs met, without any fuss. Decent prices mind. We felt everything was spot on and we were made to feel very welcome. Anyone else noticed that the two bad reviewers live in locked down areas with huge rises in COVID ? I would love to tell you about this pub. Its a big, beautiful old building. Unfortunately the 'locals only' sign on the door meant that i wasn't able to enter. To make matters worse. As i was taking a photo of the ridiculous sign, a man came out of the pub and started taking my photo - as if it is acceptable to not welcome people. The landlord must have a secret stash of money or customers where he can afford to pick and choose his clientele. But, judging by the fact that there was ABSOLUTELY NO ONE in the pub at what should be the busiest time of the week, he might want to rethink his strategy.

Cafe Nero Thirsk has become a dirty, filthy Coffee shop, not worth visiting !!!! over the past 6 to 12 Months the standards have fallen so far, the only solution is to close it and completely refurbish it!!!! The Chairs and Tables are only fit for the Rubbish Dump!! The walls and floors are dirty and marked.!! The cleaning is very poor and not fit for purpose!!!! The customer toilet is not fit for purpose, it is filthy and certainly unhygienic. The filth around the Doorframe is a breeding ground for God knows what!!! Staff checks are a joke, and more times than not there is no Toilet Roll!!! The food choice isa boring and storage is suspect!!! Staff whilst friendly enough , do not appear to be interested in their workplace and how it looks to customers !!!!
