Absolutely superb place. The food, wine and service was first class. I cannot believe that someone called Steven McCabe has posted a one star review simply because he couldn't get through on the telephone to book a table. What an idiot! People like him have no idea how damaging this can be to a new owner who has taken over the business- and as this 'Steve' hasn't even eaten at the venue his review should not be allowed. Anyway, do not be put off as this place is simply wonderful. The Old Rectifying House was always one of my favorite pub/ eateries in Worcester and it remains so under its new name of Yeliz. Also, Isabella, the ladie who looked after us was amazing- so attentive and helpful. Ten out of ten 👍

We dined here on Saturday evening we chose the Smoked garlic ciabatta with whipped goats butter & the Pimento stuffed green olives to have before our starters along with a couple of nice cocktails. The Olives were really nice fresh tasting good quality olives, the Garlic ciabatta was fine. The staters we chose the Wild mushroom risotto scotch egg, white wine sauce, this was very nice although quite a big portion for a starter but very tasty.I had the Moules mariniere, toasted ciabatta the mussels were steamed perfectly although not very plump they still tasted great & the cream white wine sauce perfection really good, although no toasted ciabatta bread just two pieces of french stick!!!!!!!!.The Mains i chose the Tempura battered haddock, Old Rec chips, tartar sauce, parsley marrow fat peas & my wife chose the Rare breed feather blade of beef, creamed potatoes, buttered greens The Feather blade of beef was nice the meat was a little dry but still ok the greens and Mashed potato all good. The tempura haddock was disappointing The batter was `not tempura it was a crispy dust when cutting into eat tasteless worst battered fish i have ever had.The service was fine but the mains were not that good really the Tempura fish was not good at all . That is why i have said Little above average starters were good mains a let down

Interesting old building with pleasant entrance. Friendly staff and interesting menu. Our first deep fried pickles!! Good vegan choices. The portions are generous and good value. Tables are a bit dark so candles would be nice but otherwise a great choice in Worcester.

We went for my 64th birthday last night. As visitors to the area we had relied on trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed . The food was excellent and there was a variety to cater for our different tastes. We all came away agreeing we had enjoyed every course we had. It felt safe COVID wise - tables well spaced out. Staff were efficient and pleasant but we did not feel rushed. An excellent dining out experience.

Really disappointed given its Michelin Guide mention; So slow service and the dishes, which look promising on the menu, small and very basic - I could have cooked this at home! My rump steak, cooked well but the accompaniments; undressed rocket, one half grilled tomato, field mushroom and small portion of (possibly Aunt Bessies) chunky chips. Didn’t have a starter but the rest of my party had the scallops and we’re not particularly impressed. We did not stay for dessert.

We visited here as a party of 5, 4 adults and 1 infant. A high chair was provided. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Two had the roast pork, one fish and chips and one steak. The pork was tender and moist, my husband asked for extra crackling and was presented with a side dish of it which he loved! We had sides of chilli jam, onion rings and 'frickles' which are deep fried pickles!! Amazing! They served food up until 4:00 and we did not order until about 3:30, but everything we ordered was available and fresh. Great visit. Would recommend.

Had dinner here this evening with my husband - made very welcome despite having no reservation . Staff very attentive and friendly , water brought to the table once seated and given menus. Nice to to have to ask. Husband is vegetarian and had scotch egg for starter which was really nice, I had the duck hash which was utterly delicious . Husband had falafel burger and chips whilst I had the tempura battered fish and chips, both well presented and very tasty. The service was excellent and efficient- did not have to wait long to order or for our starters and mains. Only regret is, we did not have room for dessert!!! Will visit again when in the area.

We were not disappointed. The menu is imaginative and makes you want to try everything! I had the Curried Chicken Kiev which was so good! My husband had the fish and again, it was excellent. With family living nearby, we visit Worcester regularly from our home in London , and this is by far the best restaurant I've been to in the city. It offers great food, great service and - considering how superior its product - great value. From the moment I asked the delightful Ali to help us choose some dishes from its award-winning menu, and she simply could not have been more helpful or knowlegable,we had a really special time. I even gave one of their vegan offerings a go - and it was truly the most mouth watering sticky toffee pudding I've ever tasted. Maybe the location, right by the busy A44 in the heart of Worcester, is not its most desirable attribute. But in the gastronomic desert that is this city, this place and its lovely staff stands out..

We booked this place based on its inclusion in the Michelin Guide. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Very friendly staff and nice location. My starter of scallops was nothing special while my husband really enjoyed his duck hash. My main course of sea bass was well cooked and nicely presented but the chips that went with my husbands steak were over cooked to the point of being inedible.

Attended for a friend’s birthday. The service was welcoming and efficient. The food was superb - I had fish and chips and it was cooked and presented perfectly; portion size just right. We sat outside because of current restrictions and the environment is lovely: sheltered and private, with nice planting. The only downside was a lack of outdoor heating - but this is a very small point. Would definitely return in sunnier weather/when in-door eating is possible.

Welcoming and relaxed environment with a menu with a bit of a difference and great food. We had salsify carbonara with pig cheeks and haddock and chips. Both dishes were outstanding. A mention should also go to the staff who were helpful and again relaxed which added to the experience. I guess I should also mention COVID! Phone cal before hand to check we were a single household and tier 2 (a massive plus for us) and once there great social distancing and measures. What was nice though is that they didn’t affect the experience.

Good social distancing measures, but the restaurant still has a good atmosphere, we booked for 7:30 and it was more or less full by 8, the staff are friendly but professional, and the service is efficient, the drinks menu has a good variety, a selection of beers (our waiter even told us, without asking, that one beer wasn’t available and what they had instead) I tried a couple of cocktails, both were excellent. The food menu is varied, and they have a vegan menu, we opted to skip starters and go to mains and have a dessert instead, both dishes were very good, especially my rare breed featherblade of beef, my veggie wife went for gnocchi, which was good but there was too much of it (better than not enough), deserts were both excellent, ginger treacle loaf and chocolate ganache with brandy soaked cherries, fantastic, so in summary, we enjoyed the visit and the food (and cocktails), it’s good to get out in what feels like a safe and warm setting, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, and we will be back in the near future.

My wife and I met up with our son and his fiance for the first time in a long time for Sunday dinner. Having read the reviews we were really looking forward to this as I have found unless we cook it ourselves we rarely get a decent roast. First impressions were good, it seems very Covid safe, staff were pleasant and helpful throughout our visit and it does have a nice ambiance, if more than a little dark, particularly where we were sitting. Unfortunately my wife and I in particular were a little underwhelmed to say the least at our Roast Beef choice. The younger members of our party chose the Vegan option, which they said was ok. Unfortunately our beef was rarer than we would normally like, which is the fashion and we could have lived with that, but it was very difficult to cut, even when we asked for and were given Steak knives, and was also pretty tasteless.,on the plus side both the side order of vegetables which came with it and the cauliflower cheese/brocolli were both quite good. However even worse than the meat were the Roast ptatoes , which were possibly the worst I have ever tasted. They were hard, overcooked and far too herby for liking. Similarly the Yorkshire Pudding was hard and very dry. At least all the sweets we chose including my Treacle Tart were quite good and the drinks were reasonably priced for a bar of this type. It may be that there were problems in the kitchen on this day, but on this evidence we would not rush back for Sunday lunch at least.

What a gastronomic delight! My husband and I were visiting Worcester for the day on our wedding anniversary and wanted a special lunch. We were not disappointed. Opting for the set menu we had a delightful treat in store. Fancied a pick me up lunch for the family and keen to support after reopening.Inside was dark and smelled of damp, outside the garden was messy and uninviting. The food has sadly taken a nose dive, when it used to be by far the best. Visited this venue tonight having seen its Michelin awards and was not disappointed. Having just opened after being closed for 7 months due to a river flood in Feb, this restaurant has certainly picked up where it left off with awesome food and friendly service. The menu is exciting and the food is excellent quality and exceptionally tasty and great value for money. If there is a venue that deserves your patronage more than anywhere else in the area, then this is it. Eat here and be prepared to have some of the best food you will ever have. The actual restaurant is quite nice, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff however, considering they are marketing this as a Michelin guide restaurant, they are falling well below the line with regard to the food. On the plus side, the starter I had was very nice it was the Wild mushroom risotto scotch egg. My wife had salmon and leek starter which she thought was a little over the top with the leeks. I had the hanger steak which to be honest was a bit dry and quite tough. My wife had the Butternut, pine nut & Cornish Blue cheese risotto but found the cheese so overpowering that she could not eat it. The menu was interesting but I don't think we will be rushing back. I will say that because my wife didn't like her main course we were given complimentary drinks, which was a nice touch

With a party of one vegan and three pescatarians, we had plenty to choose from. The food was delicious, although the bacon (or chorizo?) in the fish dish was a surprise, as it had not been mentioned on the menu. The young waiter thought we must be mistaken but agreed to check with the kitchen, who confirmed the mammalian presence. Thankfully my husband was gracious and insisted on picking this out rather than choosing something else, and the manageress was very quick, helpful and discrete and took the cost of this off our bill. Otherwise, the chips were the best that any of us had had in a long time, the vegan tagine with olives and preserved lemons was amazing, the vegan fish and chips earned a rave review - and the desserts / cheeseboard were amazing too.

Having a bouncer on the door is never a good sign for a restaurant but we still gave it a go............. should have gone elsewhere!! The food?? Appalling!! a starter containing black pudding sounded interesting and it certainly was, deep fried balls of something, ghastly taste as the oil was dirty when fried!! Informed the “waitress” who tried to tell me they weren’t fried, she went away then came back to tell me that they were fried but it was clean oil........ I’m really sorry but trying to point score with a paying customer?? How about keep your mouth shut and just do your job! The mains were bad, I had lamb, to be fair the lamb was lovely, the rest of it was dire, my partners risotto was bland and tasted of nothing, not a lot of the meals were eaten. The gobby waitress brought the bill so I went and had a word with the cook, not Chef as a Chef wouldn’t have served this garbage, he was gobby also....... Apparently they are Michelin recommended??? What ever that means, a bit like the Fat Duck and the Waterside! I think the guy who owns this place has a curry house in the town.........avoid this place like the plague!

This is a superb restaurant on so many levels. Firstly it serves great meals carefully crafted using fresh ingredients designed to form the basis of an exciting eating occasion. This is enhanced further by a level of service that surpasses highest expectations. Everything the team does is designed to make the diner the focus of all their efforts. Special mention goes to Ali, Toni, Martha, the cocktail expert (sorry I don’t remember his name) everyone preparing meals in the kitchen and all the other servers and team members whose friendliness and charm make it feel like coming home. And thanks to Matt the owner who sets the standards from the top. Add to this a wonderful, characterful and relaxed environment. That’s great hospitality.

We had viewed this pub on line as it had advertised live music for the evening. We phoned and were informed it had cancelled it. Despite this we decided to have a drink there on 25th July 2019. The hottest day on record.

Lunchtime visit. Food was good - aged steak excellent. Nice wines and beers. Decent surroundings. Not very busy, but could be different in the evenings I suppose. Two aperitifs, two main courses and two large glasses of wine - less than £60.00. Will definitely visit again!

Visited for early evening meal. Very quiet. Sat in beer garden at the rear. Staff very welcoming and pleasant. Had burgers which were ok. Chips were excellent. Only downside was the battered onion rings tasted strongly of fish!! I take it they had been deep fried in same oil. Would have been ok if we were eating fish but didn't go well with burger!

We had a great meal in the Old Rectifying House. A good place for a drink or a meal. Great atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Ate with our teenage boys and found something for everyone on the menu, incl. vegetarian. A deserved mention in the Red Michelin Guide.

I've been coming here off and on for years and it used to be great with a wide choice and variety of dishes, especially fish and meat. Must have been taken over recently as the menu is very restrictive now. If you're not after a steak or are not vegan/vegetarian DO NOT COME HERE. If you are then maybe give it a try. It's very average and simple food now though. Staff pleasant. Basic pub grub, not quality restaurant food any more. Michelin entry? Someone's having a laugh!!.... No wonder it was almost empty throughout a Friday evening.

We went to the Old rectifying House for the first time a few weeks ago with a group of friends, one of whom recommended it. The ambience was warm and inviting the decor and lighting was great and the staff genuine in their interest in our comfort.

The night we visited there was a function on so normal menu was not available. They were offering a Burger and Bar menu which worked perfectly as we were in a hurry. Old Rec burger looked meaty and juicy and I am told tasted very good. We ordered the full selection of Bao's between two of us and that was more than enough, particularly likes the chicken bar and the mushroom bar.

I visited the Rectifying House on a Sunday, and they managed to fit us in for a late lunch. The service was really efficient, and the food was absolutely fantastic; pub food classics with a modern twist, at reasonable prices.

Expected great things from this place but left feeling disappointed and ripped off. The food we had was average at best and small portions. The drinks were extortionate! The service was mixed, some staff were really friendly and helpful but there was one in jeans and a pink sweater who was moody and rude. No one asked how our meal was. Won’t be returning.

First time my family have came to visit me and wish we didn’t come here, took 45 minutes for food and the worst thing is that we paid for our bill and didn’t get the £18 change, we were happy to tip but don’t think it should be assumed! My partner asked if it was practice to keep change and the response was that the ladies at the table said the change could be kept! There were no ladies at the table as we were outside having a cigarette when the bill was dealt with, to lie like that is disgusting as my dad treated us to this meal and in the end no tip was left so go here if you want change kept and staff to lie

Once again I find myself back visiting Worcester this time for family birthday.....so I booked a table in my favourite resturant wich I have reviewed a few times before....their hard work seems to have been rewarded. Now in the Michelin guide ..... and well deservedly so it was excellent....califlower and almond soup wich my brother remarked on its delicate taste and excellent texture...I had cured salmon wich was equally as good.....we both drank locally brewed barbourne cider.... mains of duck Brest. And chicken pie followed both equally good with attention to detail. ..exceptionally good mash potato .duck beautifully pink.....all well presented. ....deserts too Cambridge cream to finish....well done!!!! Special mention to Ali the very competent resturant mangeress....excellent all round....try it !!!! You won't be disappointed

We've never actually eaten here so can't comment on the food but it's the main place we head for when in town and wanting a drink. Good choice of ales (especially the Cotswold IPA), good friendly service, comfortable and amenable atmosphere and all in an old pub with plenty of history (if you don't know what a rectifying house was then Google it!). There's also a pleasant little courtyard outside for warmer days and evenings.

This place is on a busy road but if you go through the garden at the back it is an oasis of calm in the busy city. It was very quiet on the lunchtime we went with only a couple of other people eating, but my husband has been before in the evening when it is very buzzy. The food was well cooked and the staff friendly and attentive. Although not vegetarian ourselves we noted the more than average number of vegetarian and vegan choices on the menu. And I shall certainly be returning with my sister who is coeliac and often struggles to find gluten free food on menus. Not here. There was plenty of choice.

The Kings Head offers a great atmosphere whether you are seeking a night out with friends or a quiet drink. The pub has an impressive selection of drinks, from beers to wines, you have a great choice. Having previously visited I can say the food is excellent, whether going for breakfast or something more hearty that satisfy many tastes. Very friendly staff and a great landlord…lively ambiance makes it a perfect spot for drinks and food!!

I attended Cafe Cadena recently with a group of seven people for the 'Bottomless Brunch'. The venue itself is nice; we were seated upstairs along with other groups which led to a good atmosphere and the selection and quality of drinks were good. However, we did unfortunately experience some issues with our experience. We were asked to pre-order our food in advance (the point of this being to ensure no problems with group orders), yet there was an issue whereby one of the orders was wrong. This meant food had to be sent back and one person received their food later than the rest of the group. Also, the portion sizes and quality of the food was poor. The tapas plates were very small and even the 'mains' item was not substantial. The Bottomless Brunch cost £35 per person for 90 minutes, but this felt slightly excessive due to the issues with the food. I would not pay for this again, however, would return to the venue for a drink.
