We visited after a long walk along the beautiful coastal route. The location is lovely and rather quirky (outdoor seats and tables are stone). We were told we were too late for paninis, so settled for drinks only. Sadly, the coffee was average and the banana milkshake totally disgusting (tasted like Nesquik, topped with squirty cream and hundreds and thousands - not what was expected, at all!). When asked if there was a water bowl for our dogs, the older lady employee was abrupt and rude, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Some staff training in customer service is required, perhaps? It costs nothing to be polite and pleasant.

Sat outside for a coffee and sandwich, felt very uncomfortable because of the litter and it needed a good sweep. Hygiene seems to be last thing on those who work there. You get served and they just walk over the litter once to you and then back. A tip to all food outlets keep your place clean you will get more people visiting your place and that means more money. If they cannot be bothered outside then you wonder what the inside is like.?

No complaints about food or drinks, Just the staff, do not seem to want to be there. only opens when it suits, run out of food early in the day, any weather conditions is an excuse not to be open. If we want to guarantee a good cafe we go to a National Trust, Not this one! We take picnics now, as we do not know whether it will be open or have the food we require. ALSO why is it not open 9 - 5.30 like all other cafe's, This cafe has amazing potential.

We were there from opening time last weekend (half an hour later than their Facebook page said) although the pasties and coffees were great, the length of time to get served was atrocious, there were 3 staff on, a few people in the queue and we deliberately chose food they had to take straight out the cabinet and still it took a full 30 minutes to get served, understandably people were just walking away after queuing for 15 minutes, the sausage rolls aren’t too good (funny texture, almost like veggie ones) and you would have to have a lot of time on your hands if you wanted to try something cooked fresh like a bacon bap. Three stars because the staff are really polite and friendly, the pasties are lovely and the location is great. I would suggest that due to the erratic opening times (if at all some days) which may differ significantly from their Facebook page and excruciatingly long queuing times that you take your own food and drink down when visiting Wembury beach and view this place as a back up.

If I was basing this review on food alone I would give it 5 - couldn’t fault the pasties, panini or cakes. However, the service seemed chaotic and unprepared for busy periods. They were clearly over stretched and struggling to cope with demand. Maybe they need more staff or (like a lot of hospitality venues) are maybe struggling to recruit at the moment . Either way, it devalued the experience for us. Also, the young girl serving us came across as rude - no smiles, didn’t speak and didn’t say thanks or smile when we helped her when she was struggling with the card machine. I appreciate she appeared young and inexperienced but if you are putting someone ‘front of house’ they need to show a bit of warmth to customers. I think they were just all stressed with the heavy workloads. There was a strange smell outside the venue too which didn’t add to the experience when you had to wait for your food and stand amongst it. This place has potential - it’s a good menu, ideally located, right beside the beach and the food was good. Service and system let it down. Also the beach isn’t great so don’t rush if that’s your sole reason for coming.

The service was pleasant, the wait was considerable (considering it was for three sandwiches), but it was tasty on a cold damp day. We were a bit disappointed with the size of the drinks given the eventual cost, though it's a really convenient cafe that must struggle during this awkward Covid dominated time. I'm sure we'll be back and I'm sure it'll be better when it can serve food properly again - the cakes looked very promising!

Firstly the staff were amazing. They are genuinely lovely and really take care of customers, even a few annoying ones who ordered something then said it wasn’t what they ordered (overheard the convos). But they all acted professionally apart from one worker who I assumed was the manager? Was very rude to a few customers and it very obviously made the rest of the staff feel uncomfortable. I’ve read the one star reviews and it’s quite obviously the same person. It’s a real shame but I hope the management changes or sees this review and realises how it can effect custom.Overall good but it’s sad to see the staff demoralised by their management. One staff member actually apologised to us.

We ordered 2 takeaway teas. The staff were pleasant and we were asked if we wanted milk. After we left and had taken the lid off, we realised we had a cup of hot water and loads of milk. There was no colour or taste. As they had left the tea bag in the cup eventually by the last mouthful there was an almost acceptable cup of tea. Management must make sure their staff know how to make a cup of tea. Until that happens stick to ready made drinks.

We stopped off at The Old Mill cafe in the afternoon of the last day in May, which had turned unexpectedly sunny. There is a limited amount of seating inside and outside and as the day had turned sunny by that point we had to wait a few minutes for a table to become free. Once we finally got a table we made our choices and I went up to order. Again, there was a little bit of a wait to place the order; I'm not sure if they were understaffed due to not expecting the sunshine to bring people out (although there seemed to be several staff serving and clearing tables) or not but eventually I was able to order the I've creams for the kids and the cream teas for the grown-ups. While I was given the drinks straight away, the was a bit of a wait once again for the scones but when they arrived they were still steaming, fresh from the oven. Thankfully the wait was more than made up for by the quality of the scones.

Blustery day, chilly outside and high tide on the beach, we thought we would retreat to the cafe which is currently only open at weekends as its off season. However, the cafe was only fractionally warmer than outside. They had only just opened but there was no sign of the log burner being lit. Visitors who haven't been before could expect the usual standard of cafe that is normally on offer at national trust locations but this really isn't what you get. Staff are kind, friendly although it would be nice to be greeted in walking through the door. The food is mediocre but welcome of course in a chilly winters day.

Wonderful traditional pub. A great pub with good beer and, I'm told, excellent food. Just be aware that it closes relatively early (as do quite a few pubs in Kingsbridge). Get there for an early evening drink - say about 7pm. It really is a delightful old pub with a great atmosphere.
