Excellent service, the two lads that served me were kind and friendly. Good choice of vegan options, I was recommended the 'reuben dog' which was 10/10. Definitely not overpriced as you get what you pay for. Great quality good from vans are few and far between but this was my second visit and I was once again very impressed.

Really one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten: the fried egg and haloumi breakfast bap with the beautiful slaw and kimchi. Just delicious. Lovely staff and beautiful venue. Thank you!

Had a great burger in 2019, came back in 2023 and was served 4 burgers which were all pink inside. Complained and was told they were all checked with a probe. Burgers tasted of raw mince.

Disappointed to turn up at 4.15 to be told they are not serving hot food past 3pm, carpark price and the trip down completely wasted, nothing on the website said anything about hot food finishing early? Offer everything all the time or don’t Would choose somewhere else with better chance of getting fed next time

My husband, me & our dog went for a walk on the beach and decided to stop off and get bacon sandwiches, they were cooked perfectly, the coffee was freshly ground and the service was excellent, we re going back to Devon in a few months and will definitely stop here again 😋

Absolute shambles overpriced . Dirty griddles . Husband ordered a plain burger came out twice with onions roughly 25 min wait and still under cooked . Would not recommend!!!

Worst experience ever.Def there is a wait of 30 minutes but they loose my ticket in the fryer and start calling the other numbers past your number .Turned up and asked them what happened. What a shambles. It wasn’t a particularly busy day and although I got my drink and a pre packed sandwich for my wife, I unfortunately went for the Classic Burger. 23 minutes later the guy shouted that my burger was ready. 23 minutes for a burger from a burger van!!! As anyone should know, steaks can be rare or well done but processed meats like a burger must be cooked through and never red or you’re very likely get food poisoning. My wife said to take it back but having waited 23 minutes for an undercooked burger I saw red, got up and threw the whole thing in the right hand General Waste bin - if the owners want to have a look. Went pumpkin picking and decided to take a trip to bantam beach with my son and the dog. I hadn't been bantam in 30 years. And like another reviewer said the only option bakc then was the pub or a small shop about 10 mins walk from the beach. We decided to have a drink and a burger. My wife had the cheese burger, I had the bantam burger and my son had the hotdog. Burgers were proper meat burgers and the hotdog my son loved it. OK it was a little expensive but I've paid alot more and got alot less for my money when your at the beach. Staff very friendly and food was lovely....... I will deffinatly be back for another burger soon....

On arrival just 3.30 we where so looking forward to having a cup of tea on the beach but when asked ,"closing up no hot drinks just cold now " very disappointed my partner settled for cold drink . Could of done so much more trade as people still turning up .

One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. My wife had a vegan burger, with vegan cheese and mayo was equally as good. Coffee very good, looked like they have their own Bantham blend. Definitely be back.

The best beach food ever we thought, came back just for the Gastrobus. Right by the beach and great food. The best breakfast brioche buns with locally sourced sausage and bacon - delicious we had them twice. They are all made fresh to order, so there is a little wait for the food. Breakfast is served until 12 noon, then it's the lunch menu until about 3pm. They also do cakes and flapjacks. You can eat either on tables nearby or they give you a box to take your order to the beach to eat. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The burgers here are incredibly tasty and cooked just right...a perfect burger patty and by far the best on our travels. Love the fact they only use local fresh produce. The staff friendly and a beautiful beach.

Big brioche bun, measly little burger. Definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone. Prices start from £7 too. Very expensive.

The deluxe hot chocolates are the perfect sweet treat after a day in the water! The burgers are cooked to perfection and are nice and juicy. The staff are very kind and are always willing to chat. Wait times are decent depending on how busy it is. 9/10

Visited on a lovely late summer afternoon. The lemon drizzle cake was delicious and all food - cakes included were under glass / plastic covers so no fly issues. Tongs to help yourself to cakes. All very hygienic. Didn’t have a burger but the ones I saw being served looked delicious. Nice friendly staff.

The bus is in a car park close to the beach, and it's fine to get an overpriced cup of tea and cake takeaway (there are no places to sit). They have cereal bars, crisps and the coffee options are quite limited. Last time we checked, they weren't cooking any food nor serving cold sandwiches so I'm not sure about the comments re burgers. No great customer service but you probably wouldn't need to interact with them much just get your drink/snack and leave the carpark.

These little Gastro Bus’s are popping up in several local beaches, not just Thurlestone beach, but this one at South Milton. We stopped for a cuppa on our walk. Looking at the menu there are all sorts of other tasty things to be had here too so I’ll definitely be coming back!

Had heard about the Gastrobus and seen the signs as we passed by on the A379 a few times so decided to venture down with the family. First, you need to pay to park in the car park as the beach appears to be on a private estate (so perhaps couple your visit with a day at the beach to make the most of it). Unfortunately the Gastrobus wasn’t the foodie heaven I had hope for, many of the options weren’t available as they were ‘changing the menu’, so we ordered 4 hotdogs and 4 soft drinks - more than £30. 20 minutes after ordering we still didn’t have our food as they had some trouble with their gas supply which took a while to rectify. We were offered a free soft drink for the inconvenience which was a nice token. Sausages were little more than long grilled chipolatas in a big brioche bun, loaded with sauce. First and last visit for us I’m afraid.

The coffee was good but it was busy and only one person was on coffee prep. That meant we got a bit chilly waiting around.

If you are having a day at Thurlestone bay then you should visit the bus up on the cliff to the West of the beach rather than join the queues at the restaurant near the beach. They offer good tea and coffee at a reasonable price. Didn’t try the food but was pleased to see you could get a nice salad freshly made.

Many years ago (40 to be honest) the only place to get a drink, ice cream or snack was at the local shop or the Sloop Inn. Both a walk far enough to be annoying when relaxing on the beach. So a recent visit to Bantham (the first in 40 years) was a pleasant surprise. The beach hasn't changed at all ( I think I actually recognized a couple of grains of sand from my previous visit) but having the Gastrobus on hand made for a great addition. The prices are comparable to most event/tourist location food and drinks but the quality is good and the portions are perfect. Great coffee, nice cakes (the Chelsea bun was only just smaller than Chelsea borough!) and tasty hotdogs. Well done!

The Thurlestone Gastrobus has an excellent and experienced chef, and the food is freshly cooked to order and delicious. This is street food at its best, but don't expect quality at a burger king price, the meat is local, burgers freshly made, local cheeses, salads and chutneys too. My advice to those who would rather not pay a fair price to artisan producers? Take a packed lunch.......of spam sandwiches.....

Once upon a time Rockies ruled Thurlestone beach. Slightly mad but full of character with a great cup of tea and a bacon and egg roll and a packet of flags for your sandcastle. Perfect stopping point on a walk or even the purpose of a walk. But sadly now replaced by a pretentious cafe restaurant and a caravan. Where has

We stopped at the Gastrobus on the way back from a very long walk along the coast and had the most delicious burger and bacon,egg and sausage baps. Everything was cooked whilst we were there and would have happily bought everything on the bus! Drinks were icy cold and very welcome after our walk. Will definitely be back!

Good snack food during the day but very pricy. It is always fresh and the caravans serving the food are clean with pleasant, helpful staff. The only place to eat, apart from the local pub.

Friendly, accessible, convenient. Not exactly the fine dining experience transposed into a Bus that it was billed as. Don't take a picnic to Bentham, use the gastro bus, it is what is.

We tried the Gastrobus when on holiday for a week in Thurlestone and what a change from produce from the usual mobile food vans, Coffees and choices of lunche snacks and sandwiches a pleasant surprise. A lot better than so many beach side cafes.

Stopped here yesterday for a coffee. Great coffee, but bakery products were being bombarded with flies and other insects and I wouldn't have risked my family eating them. It was a hot day, so not unexpected. You need some of those netting covers or clear plastic lids over them.

Very beautiful beach enjoying my day out also it's dog friendly just need to bear in mind there is no facilities carpark gets busy after 11 am

Beach food has changed since I last went away! Great food. Lovely choices and they even do packed lunches which look great.

After a walk along the cliff tops from Thurlestone to Bantham we arrived at the Gastrobus which was highly recommended by the Thurlestone Hotel - fabulous food and friendly staff.
