Now this place looks lovely and I'm sure the food is nice BUT....... DO NOT purchase any deals via sites such as wowcher for this place, They WILL NOT honour it! The most shameful behaviour I have ever seen from a venue turning away deals that they themselves have advertised! Tried to book for mothers day and the wowcher does not exclude any Sunday booking, yet the management have decided that they want to make more money and turn me away and make me come on another Sunday, hard when I'm only down for that weekend and live 300 miles away. Gave this place all the chance to change their stance on this and they wouldn't, DONT TOUCH

I booked a family meal for 12 to celebrate my birthday. From the outset Gemma and the team did everything they could to make the arrangements easy. On the day we were looked after from the moment we stepped through the door. We had a delicious 3 course meal, chosen in advance from several options. Dietary swaps which weren’t on the original menu were provided fuss free for 2 guests with allergies. My desert came decorated with a birthday message written in chocolate – a lovely surprise! My family provided balloons for the table and a cake which they served with candles and sang happy birthday. The food and ambiance made for a perfect birthday celebration. So good that we booked to come back again for another family event!

My wife and I stayed from January 5-9 2020 the worst hotel 4 star should read negative 4 star if you use AA star rating dont in fact I wouldnt use there hotel services period. We were the only guests during our stay the bedroom had so much moulds hazardous to your health, the toilet seat was falling off the telephone didnt work so when breakfast was brought to our room it was stone cold like it was made the night before as the phone didnt work I had to go downstairs in my PJ's to tell them to fix the problem, in an emergency who would you call the staff all go home at night. The extensive menu didnt exist.I have reported this hotel to Plymouth public health as the moulds in the bedroom is a real health concern, I have photos if requested. My suggestion is give this hotel a miss

I had a meal with my wife and i for Christmas eve 2019 we booked over the phone and were sent a menu after much chasing, as to whether they would be serving non residents, eventually we were sent a menu and were asked to choose and pay in full, we thought this will be good, now being honest, the food was not bad, mussels in a thai broth very nice, beef wellington ok but lacked vegetables just a couple of boiled/roasted potatoes, and a stick of broccoli with a pot of gravy sweet was chocolate cake??? the service was poor waited at the bar for someone to serve, and waited , and waited, eventually shown to our table all evening there was just two other couples??? the waiter was i feel inexperienced, had to ask for a bowl to put the mussel shells in and we had to ask for bread rolls?? did not bother to ask for extra drinks as he was nowhere to be seen, there was no atmosphere whatsoever very poor the food was ok very well cooked but the place was flat as a pancake the only music was the radio on the background, they could have done so much better but it seemed no one cared?? shame a good venue with so much potential would i return, 1 ) for the food yes but a least add tea/ coffee to the price, 2)atmosphere BIG FAT ZERO so much potential wasted for a business

My entire birthday dinner was ruined due to the failure of the staff not recording my initial reservation at all! And I only found this out when I rang the day before to change my reservation time! They also failed to inform me the restaurant I had booked in was actually going to be closed during lunch time on the day!!! So I show up on my birthday only flush it down the drain and to be seated by the bar. The A la carte menu I was looking forward to with my husband was ruined by having to sit next to the bar and choose our meal from the bar menu. Might as well have gone to Wetherspoons. It was only the food that did not disappoint.

Picked this place as I used to work somewhere similar and I thought it would feel homely. The site seems nice enough and has a really nice bar, but for £67 the room I had simply wasn't good enough. It was a small room with some period features, an old fireplace and a bay window which were both covered in cobwebs and dirty. Had a small double bed which had hairs in it, a battered wardrobe, no iron and the light switch annoying upside down, with off being the usual on position etc. Was kept up by the room next door's documentary on post-war european architecture, as the walls are so thin. Also by the 1970's drape/curtain thing that didn't block the light from outside. The biggest issue I had however was with the bathroom. It was small but poorly laid out, with the toilet in a small space between the shower and a wall. I have somewhat broad shoulders (44" chest) and couldn't get close enough to the toilet to pee standing up, so had to sit down and lean forwards. What's more the toilet roll holder is on the other side of the room, and I could barely use it as my legs were so close together and no room to reach around. The shower was very hot and powerful, 👍. But was grimey and the holder didn't keep the shower head in place, so when I wanted to give the shower a minute to warm up it shot up and soaked myself and the bathroom floor in cold water, 👎. The bathroom floor was also grim with cracked tiles and grout missing. Really dissapointed

Not overly imprest with the venue, staff were ok, rooms a little overpriced for a wedding venue that makes you buy the place. Breakfast was like being in a travelodge self service in a 4 star place, drinks way over priced. Main meal was I think lacking in body, starter and main, then a 20min wait for dessert. Hog roast was out front, but the apple sauce was through the main entrance, Passed disco and bar and before reception. Desserts and snack were out there also. I have been to many weddings, as guests and photographer, I would not be rushing back.

Went for Sunday afternoon Tea to celebrate a birthday and Fathers Day. To say we were disappointed with the tea is an understatment. The variety on offer was poor, the afternoon tea was luke warm and the crockery used to serve was chipped and cracked. After initially arriving it was about 10-15 minutes before anyone attended to us and with hindsight I now wish that we just got up and left before the staff attended to us. It spoilt what was supposed to be a nice afternoon.

We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our first course. The amuse touch - lobster bisque was served to me after I said I was a vegetarian. We had to go into the kitchen to find where our main courses were and also hunt out a wine waiter to order more wine. My starter could have been put on a desert spoon - it was a rip off. Other food no more generous. We came home and had some supper left in the fridge from the night before. There were only nine people in the chilly restaurant so I can see no reason why the service was so awful. It was a birthday celebration - fortunately we are old friends and drinking on an empty stomach made us merry - but for £45 a head we felt very sore. That was without pudding or coffee.... we had to get to bed at some point.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel as part of a groupon voucher from a Christmas present to see a concert in Plymouth pavilion, As a young couple it is easy to feel uncomfortable in such a high class establishment; however the staff were thoroughly professional, exceptionally friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Though the food is pricey, the breakfast *including the service* was entirely worth it. Extremely clean rooms with all amenities and for once, as my partner pointed out, finally a hotel that gives you a sufficient amount of milk and sugar with the room's complimentary tea! Despite the weather, the views were stunning and being able to come back late and watch the stars over the beautiful hillside was the cherry on the cake for this small getaway. Though this hotel was born to suit weddings and other ceremonies; a small nights getaway here was equally amazing. Getting in and out of Plymouth centre isn't a massive issue even if you're without a car as long as you have 10 quid per taxi and are happy to ask the reception to call a cab for you (signal is awful but it is the countryside so you can't have it all) and it's actually only 20 minutes away. Overall, a serene, peaceful, professional hotel with exceptional personnel. Would recommend to anyone; thanks again!

The hotel itself and the grounds are lovely and well kept. Staff were always really friendly and willing to help. We had breakfast included, there was a reasonable choice of usual breakfast options and cooked to a good standard. There were a couple of issues which have caused me to only give three stars. Firstly the mattress in our room was really uncomfortable, there were visible bumps and dents. It must have been older than the hotel. Secondly the shower never really got hot, just sat a tepid luke warm temperature, which was a big disappointment for me. Overall though it was a pleasant stay.

Langdon Court is a seriously old Manor House but is delightfully warm and welcoming. My husband and I were upgraded to a splendidly large room with gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. The seven course tasting menu for the Burns supper was superb and was served in a romantically, candlelit dining room with a roaring fire in a large fireplace. It was very atmospheric and thoroughly enjoyable. The following morning we enjoyed a stroll around the grounds and visited Wembury Point and Beach just minutes away. Langdon Court provides the perfect stay for exploring this area of beauty, now under the auspices of The National Trust. I can highly recommend.

Beautiful place, but not a very good experience. Booked online, no confirmation. Emailed again and said we wanted the Christmas menu. Still no response. Eventually had to call as wasn't sure if they were booked up being December. Apart from a table of 4 having afternoon tea, we were the only other guests, not in the dining room but seated in the bar. Sparse Christmas decorations, zero Christmas atmosphere. Waited 30 mins for starter. No condiments with Christmas dinner had to ask for cranberry sauce, could have done with more gravy as well. Asked for some festive music as it was quiet as the grave, didn't expect Slade, but nothing! Just a bit of a miserable experience and afraid we won't be back!

We have eaten here on a few occasions and have had a consistently warm and friendly reception from Will who has always made us feel especially welcome. The restaurant has the atmosphere of a country manor and is normally ideal for a quiet meal for two. There was a large wedding party present on our most recent visit so it might be worth checking for this, although they did still find us a quiet corner. My steak was perfectly cooked, tasty and a generous portion but i have particularly happy memories of their tasting menu. Check if you are going to order this. I suspect it probably wouldn't have been available on our last visit due to the large party. I am no wine expert but Will has been particularly helpful with our choice and showed a degree of flexibility over availability by the glass. If you are having the tasting menu then i recommend taking the wine flight too - or as in our case sharing it!

If your headed to Plymouth and want to feel and be feted like country gentry then this is the place. Of the 3 weeks we spent touring England Langdon Court tied for our most memorable and enchanting. Yes, it is a lovely well preserved antique, so big city amenities are not the focus. However the service and staff are wonderful. The rooms, bath and beds most comfortable. The breakfast choices are suitable to a wide range of tastes whether you are from abroad or prefer British fare. Only the evening menu was not to our taste, but they do have an excellent wine list and charming elegant bar. If you are looking for perfect romance or a quite weekend retreat I highly recommend heading for Langdon Court in Down Thomas, and a day of shopping in Plymouth.

I booked my wedding here, as the location was gorgeous. I had to cancel not long after booking due to being made redundant. There was not an ounce of common decency in giving me a refund. They took £1000 of my money and rebooked the date days later. I saved long and hard to pay that deposit and if the date hadn't been rebooked I might have understood, but as it was rebooked you were still making money. I visited again for a friends wedding, and was disgusted that they paid £15 a head for chips in a cone. Total rip off.

We visited after a long walk along the beautiful coastal route. The location is lovely and rather quirky (outdoor seats and tables are stone). We were told we were too late for paninis, so settled for drinks only. Sadly, the coffee was average and the banana milkshake totally disgusting (tasted like Nesquik, topped with squirty cream and hundreds and thousands - not what was expected, at all!). When asked if there was a water bowl for our dogs, the older lady employee was abrupt and rude, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Some staff training in customer service is required, perhaps? It costs nothing to be polite and pleasant.

Wonderful traditional pub. A great pub with good beer and, I'm told, excellent food. Just be aware that it closes relatively early (as do quite a few pubs in Kingsbridge). Get there for an early evening drink - say about 7pm. It really is a delightful old pub with a great atmosphere.
