This cafe is in a lovely position overlooking the river and has a large terrace which during Covid is a boon! All the tables and chairs inside are piled up and you have to walk through to get to the outside seating which didn’t seem particularly distanced.....therefore didn’t give it higher marks. The drinks we had were served to the table after having to go back inside to order and then to exit you go out of a back gate, but also passing close by the other tables. The staff wore masks and tables were wiped but chairs weren’t. We will return as it was a nice place to sit and the coffees were ok.

Saw via Facebook that were doing all day breakfasts for takeaway so thought id give it a try. Rung the number 3 times before got through but this is just sign of the times that few staff doing a lot of jobs at the moment in places so if ringing be patient, it is the right number on Facebook and they will get to you.Ordered a Big Breakfast for 20 mins time and was bang on time for when I arrived.Breakfast it self was very tasty and worth the money for the portions and quality of it all. only little let down was cold toast but even with just a 2 minute drive away its kinda always inevitable to perish, maybe not worth doing for take always? Could have done with some butter for it also (as is pictured on Facebook page). but easily a 9/10 Breakfast. Here is were things don't seem so good in a COVID-19 world. Arrived at restaurant and looked around entrance for guidance of it should wait or just go in and seem to be just go in. Every table inside was taken, and people were very crammed in, and the entrance has a real bottleneck issue. I stood just inside the door, there was a lady on left side of counter changing an order, another lady at the till and a gentleman trying to make his way out by squeezing past them and the table just inside the door, I stood outside again so he could get past me. I know you can not really control were your customers go and how they behave/think for safety of others but I remember coming here in Summer during 'Eat out to help out' where you were alot more organised and safe. You used to have to wait to be seated, served at the table throughout and only leave to pay when waiting staff told you so, then exit via one way system though the outside of the cafe which avoids the 'bottlenecking' I mentioned earlier. Why are none of these systems in place? The two Ladies serving both had masks but one only had over her chin and not mouth, the rules as I understanding (I should say LAW) is that all staff who are in contact with public must wear them at all times in a public area (not just when at tables). The Chef/Kitchen staff are except as not in direct contact with public. Its such a shame you have really lacked back on the COVID procedures as I like to support the locals but I didn't even feel comfortable just waiting inside for 2mins to collect a takeaway, I certainly would go there to eat in during current climate.

Popped in early in the morning for a cup of tea, first visit for a little while.Very disappointed to see that tables inside and out were in exactly the same places as before. None had been moved to allow for 'social distancing', which meant walking /sitting very close to others. The only difference was that you went out the back way through the gate, but to do this you had to walk closely to other tables.I won't return while it's like this. Disappointed! Didn't see any cleaning of tables/chairs etc between visitors.

We were heading from St Mellion back to Bath and stumbled upon this cafe. It’s close to the A-road, perhaps ten mins and then we parked at the bottom of the high st, opposite the church and walked up. A lovely inside and outside sitting area by the river. However, like most British cafés we never seem to get it right like our European friends! Despite a large number of young helpful staff, I queued for a while always having to move from side to side to dodge the next waitress carrying out an order from the kitchen. I just don't understand why you don't offer table service especially during covid times. My friend ordered a full english breakfast which didn't look at all special for £7.95. A boring one sausage, one rasher of bacon, half a tomato, slimy fried egg etc. It would have been so much more interesting to do a twist on this meal.. Poach egg, spinach rather than the usual greasy spoon conventional fry up. My colleague also returned to the counter later to order a carrot cake slice which at least looked a little more appealing. However, I was horrified that this wasn't immediately served to her as she wasn't ordering a drink.10 minutes later I returned to the counter to enquire about the cake slice to be told it had been added to the pile of orders. Sadly once again, another example of service in an English café.I wish you success in these difficult times but hope you take on my comments to further improve your café.

Welcomed when we entered and handed the special menus and asked to sit were we liked then order at the counter when ready. Was short changed by £2 when placed order but pointed this pout to the server who just opened up the till and gave us the corrected change but something to watch out for as not first time this has happened here. We ordered from the specials menu BBQ Pork Steak and the Fish Pie and both were great. Very generous portions and both very tasty. BBQ Pork Steak was meant to be topped with cheese however but didn't seem to be unless completely melted/evaporated but did have 3x onion rings which wasn't on menu so swings and roundabouts :). My partner said it was the best Fish Pie she had ever had. Drinks very pricey however, £2.90 for a bottle of Luscombe Lemonade and £2.60 for a standard can of diet coke. Yikes!

Went into the cafe today and sat down at a table, apparently the system has changed and you need to go up to the counter to order, no-one told us this (last time we were there it was table service). We saw staff continually coming and going and ignoring us, it would have perhaps been helpful for one of them to say if there was a new system as we must have clearly looked confused. Typically when we got up to leave we caught the eye of a lady behind the counter who asked if we had changed our mind and i told her that we were going elsewhere as we had been waiting a while to be served, she then was clearly irritated with that response and told me to "read the menu"!! I understand it was taken over recently, perhaps there was a sign that we missed but there is never any need for rudeness especially from staff to customers!! Hasten to say we wont be returning.

We had Ham (couple of slices of thin ham) egg and chips (small fancy basket of chips on the plate) X2 plus a cream tea (two pleasant scones but no more than a couple of teaspoon size amounts of jam & cream) & two teas which can to just over £28. Greeted by friendly staff member as entered who instructed me to pick anywhere i wanted to sit, menus on tables, make a note of number and order at table when ready. Picked a spot outside with a nice view of the river Erme. decided on a Full English Breakfast (£6.95, Fried egg, Sausage, Bacon, Hash Brown, Grilled Mushroom, Grilled Tomato, Baked Beans and Toast) and Orange Juice (£2.90). Ordered at the till, wasn't actually asked for table number but wasn't long since opened for the day and not many people there yet so waitress properly didn't need to ask as knew where i was. Drink and cutlery was bought out to table straight away and food followed very quickly after, couldn't have even been 5 minutes. Food was all o.k and presented fine. only small critic have really is wasn't asked if wanted any sauce but saw some on counter outside so helped myself. Belive that Dogs are welcome in the outside area but did also note that Cafe has it own resident cat (or stray put food out for) which i think is nice but other people may want to consider this if four legged friend doesn't play well with others. Also just a suggestion, but maybe offer cheaper juice drinks. I get that most places like this like to sell Real bottled Orange juice and local (though not sure if was or wasn't) but at £2.90 didn't even fill glass (with help of ice also). But anyway was a very pleasant visit and nice to see various events advertised that they host such as Fine Dining evenings and Murder Mystery. A good community place :) .

Popped in today for a bite to eat. We had 2x burgers and chips. We both felt that the chips tasted strange and of a cleaning product. No one came during our meal to check how things where but i brought this to the attention of the waitress. She said she would go and investigate and come back. No one did come back and when i approached her at the till no longer than 2 mins later she had totally forgotten me. Her attitude towards the issue was that there hadnt been any cleaning products near the food and that she didnt know what to do. The fact that we both left our chips there was no real concern from the waitress. Now feeling rather sick and both of us have a strange taste that will not go away. Would not recommend nor visit again!!

As a local, Ive eaten at Rochelles a number of times and have the ability to compare it with times of old when it was under previous management. It has come along way and the cafe we see today is a prime example of somewhere where things are done right! with a location next to the river, on a nice sunny day there is nowhere better with the sight and sound of the water makes it all an enjoyable experience. The menu is good and the food was delicious! We both had the burger which is reasonably priced and added cheese for an extra £1. The burger was chunky and had a nice taste. Portion size was generous with a healthy amount of chips and a token side salad. my only gripe with Rochelles is i think it has taken a step back on the finer details by the lack of table service. Previously you would be waited on hand and foot, initially shown to a table and your order taken from your table which meant once seated you didn't have to move, now you have to fight for a your own seat (on a busy day) and queue to place your order. The whole py beef you eat and not having the ability to run up a tab makes you feel like they want you in and out as quick as possible. having to go up and order and pay 3 times (initial drinks, mains and then a dessert) was an inconvenience, the whole process didnt seen very organised but that's just a minor blip. Overall, still a lovely place to eat or drink

Very pleased we just had breakfast baps and not food that was all over the plate - surely chips in crockery is where bacteria builds up as it must become porous. My suggestion would be to pop to Tesco to buy some cheap crockery to tide you over until the new stock arrives. On the plus side, the food was delicious, so not all bad.

We waited and waited but no-one came out to serve us, so after about 10 minutes on each occasion we got up and left. At one time we were sat directly in front of the entry door, and a waitress saw us there, but carried on cleaning the display cabinet and totally ignored us. We met for lunch and I chose the tomato and cheese quiche which was fresh that day. I expect it was me but I found it tasteless and greasy.

Fantastic night, excellent food, the Vegetarian option of aubergine was delicious and the chocolate pudding great too. Good wine at a reasonable price. A very well run evening with a lot of great 1970's outfits in the crowd and good fun actors. We will be back.

We booked to go to the 70s themed murder mystery event at Rochelle’s. It was fab. Great fun and fabulous food, what could be better!!! 2 courses of confit crusted duck leg with green beans, potatoes and a rich jus followed by gooey chocolate pudding and ice cream. Delicious! Great service from the owners and staff. Well done. Not essential to dress up but those that did def added to the evening. No soft furnishings so the only slight downside was the noise levels but not enough to spoil the night.

Nice food, a little on the expensive side but good quality ingredients for breakfast. Was a little shocked that a can of coke costs £2.50 - no drinks list was available and had I have known I would've paid the same price for a hot chocolate instead.

Enjoyed a meeting with a friend this morning and sat outside in the February sunshine perched on the terrace overhanging the balcony - and because of the way the place is set up it was warm enough to sit outside at this time of year. I enjoyed a very pleasant time sipping coffee and tea and catching up. We meet here because it is so relaxed with very friendly service and whenever I have eaten here I have always found it very nice and a little different too! Great for any time of day! We are lucky to have such a gem in our midst!

We came here on a Sunday as we wanted a cooked breakfast but having had a late night we didn’t want to have to get up too early. This was literally the only place we could find where we could have a cooked breakfast on a Sunday at noon (most places switch to roast lunches at that point). It was a lovely clean cafe with a cosy atmosphere and great service. The food was cooked to order and we did not have to wait long. Good choice, excellent quality and really good value. The cakes looked amazing so I am already planning my next visit!!

Friendly service, good food at a reasonable price- not had a bad meal here yet. We especially love the crepes here. We often come for a Sunday breakfast - lovely that it is now open 7 days a week. It's a great way to wake up after a long night out beforehand. The river noise is very relaxing, we often sit outside even in winter thanks to the covered patio.

Four of us attended Rochelles Beaujolais event tonight; three course meal and bottle of beaujolais. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Waiters were very attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and lovely. As a regular customer to Rochelles, often for breakfast or just coffee and cake, we have attended three of their events this year and each one has been a great night out with lovely food, great service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend Rochelles for their evening events, for their breakfast and their coffee and cake!

We visited the Riverbank Cafe on a Saturday morning (10am) and there was plenty of room and tables available. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous view across the riverside. Being October it was a little chilly but from observing around, they do have paraffin heaters on standby for the colder months.

We used to love this little gem but then it changed owners and has gone downhill ever since. Prices have been going up and choices going down. The quality of food has nose dived. For example the jacket potato with tuna used to have red onion and tomato chopped up in it and now it's just tuna with way too much mayo and a teaspoon of side salad. It seems that cost cutting on ingredients as well as a hike in prices has ruined what was once a fantastic little cafe.

There was plenty on the varied menu to suit three children and two adults. Nice home made fare and some interesting specials. We visited for a late lunch, and only had main courses, but the desserts and cakes looked very tempting! Best thing is the position and we were able to get a table on the terrace, under cover from the inclement conditions, but with the river rushing by below.

Restaurant found on TripAdvisor so we reserved a table for eight people. Great choice of various breakfasts available ranging from pancakes to full English breakfasts situated inside and outside with a great view of the fish swimming by in the river. We even had a visit from the town crier telling us about the events happening that week. Great place to stop with a lovely town situated in between Torquay and Plymouth.

Called in for coffee and noticed on the special board ....a GIANT chorizo scotch egg . So we ordered 2 coffeesand the scotch egg. When it all arrived the coffee was in very small cups but ok can live with that, but the scotch egg was below average size and soggy , not fresh cooked with a crispy crumb !! When we went to pay we were absolutely astonished to be charged £8.50 for a scotch egg with a salad garnish. Absolutely extortionate !!!!!!

Visited a few weeks ago, this was my first experience in Ivybridge as it is not somewhere local to me. However, my sister and I like to try new businesses (especially family run!) so paid the cafe a visit for some tea and cake. The dessert selection was extensive, it was hard to choose! The cakes were tasty and service was efficient. The new owner was very friendly and polite, getting to know the locals around us. We were not a particular fan of the couple of French staff but the younger waiting staff were very polite and attentive, we cannot fault them. We are excited to come back and try the lunch menu soon - lots of great choice and the dishes smelt amazing as they passed us. I think many of the reviews on here are unfair, we felt this cafe had everything it needed and more for a pleasant experience, especially the amazing view and ambience from the river. It is not a restaurant and it is not trying to be, I would recommend to anyone passing by to pop in and enjoy a treat. Lovely experience and we will be back.

Since the change of owners I feel the food has changed, cost cutting and young unexperienced for example no spoon with my coffee, was not given a choice of coffee cups just given a mug. The mussels was cooked in a very rich sauce so it had taken the taste of the mussels away. Chips where nasty and cheap. Sorry to say that this change is not for the best, one good thing is the location next to a river.
