We went for a coffee in the morning and after a trip on foot around Boscastle we went back after couple of rounds of showers to eat, because in the afternoon was the only place serving food. The service was outstanding, lovely and friendly staff, good food and they made us feel amazing. We went there after the trip because we felt really good at our first visit and whe you like a place you always go back. Thank you for taking care of us.

We visited today, myself, my husband, two teenagers, and mum in wheelchair. They had only opened 6 days ago but it was running like a well oiled machine. Our food was incredibly delicious and so much on the plate! Staff were friendly and helpful and I can't praise them highly enough. Our eldest has stayed at home to look after the dog and we even managed to get him a little gift of lemon meringue fudge! I wished we lived closer so I could visit more often 😃

We visited this place yesterday for a cup of coffee and a cake Wow!!! We didn’t know but it was their first day reopening and everything was brand new, fresh and in a lovely contemporary style to match the building. The chairs were soft and comfortable and the decor superb in what you might describe as a drawing room. Outside were a lovely seating area in the garden…. But most of all the coffee taste great…. I had a cappuccino with oatmeal and my wife a latte with soya..nothing was too much trouble and i felt welcomed…. We will definitely be back!

The rating given is solely for the coffee. The member of staff who served was incredibly rude, the pasties took ages to come, supposed to be traditional steak but actually had only 1 tiny piece of steak. I would most certainly not visit here again nor would I recommend it.

My friend and I stopped in Boscastle on route to Falmouth. This place was the only place open when we arrived. So we went in for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake to share. My friend asked for a de cafe americano with soya milk and I ordered a normallatte. The cake we requested was banana and coconut cake. When our order arrived the cake was so stale we couldn't eat it. The coffee we later found out was the wrong way round and I got a decaf latte and she got a full on caffeine coffee which she is allergic to. The cake they refunded, fair enough, but we only found out about the coffee as we were walking around the village, when my friend got heart palpitations and tremors. There is a reason to get orders correct when people ask for something to avoid an allergy. This place clearly do not pay attention to what customers order. The other thing, when we used the toilet it was very dirty, the window hadn't been cleaned for sometime neither had the door. Not very covid friendly. I would not recommend this place if you stop in Boscastle.

Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience here. The staff didn't know anything about the 'eat out to help out' rules and as such attempted to charge me the full amount on the Monday. The best bit was when they were talking about me behind my back, not realising my wife and son were in the toilet queue at the time! Shame as its a lovely spot and poor management to blame for such shoddy behaviour by staff, or the people they employee are just plain rude. Avoid.

Visiting Boscastle and wanting a quick lunch, we found The Old Manor House. Newly refurbished, very smart and a varied menu. Extremely quick and pleasant service, so I soon had a large lime soda and my husband has a local beer. Our food wasn’t far behind - an extremely tasty and very hot leek and potato soup for me, and a large portion of thick cut ham, two golden fried eggs and skin on chips for my husband. Both delicious and very fresh. If you are in Boscastle, this is well worth a visit. Reasonably priced too.

The young lady behind the counter outdoor was exceptionally friendly, professional and highly attentive. Pizza was on a thin far too hard dough with canned seafood on top. We were drawn in by the sign which stated a Sunday carvery was available. It isn’t but a plated Sunday dinner is and we all chose beef. The beef was a bit too well done for us but there was plenty of it and the roast potatoes and vegetables were plentiful and perfectly cooked. Two of us had a chocolate and rum pot desert which was so hard it was very hard to actually eat. There was also far too much of it as it was extremely rich and we both left half our portion. The staff were friendly and welcoming and very attentive. We had a bottle of Rioja with our lunch which was lovely and reasonably priced. We attempted to eat there again on a Tuesday lunchtime but were told only one chef was in and it was a limited menu none of which we fancied so we went elsewhere.

We went to Boscastle with my parents-in-law so two couples in theirs 30s and two in there 70s. We were a little worried as the restaurant looked empty but from the minute we stepped in to ask if we could book a table we were treated with exceptional service. It's rare to find a restaurant that has great service, great food, and is good value for money. However this does.A lovely special touch was the chef coming out to say hello, and actually want to have a little chat. Made my parents-in-laws holiday. Although a little slow getting drinks. Definitely not somewhere to go if in a hurry however the food out ways the wait. 2 of us had fish and chips and 2 had scampi. All of it was gorgeous well worth the wait. The home made tartar sauce was lovely. I was going to have carvery unfortunately you have to fetch it from a marquee outside but it was throwing it down and didn't fancy a plate full of dinner and water. Excellent welcome to this lovely hotel. We ate in the beer garden and were served by the lovely Mario who was efficient, friendly and gave wonderful customer service. The food was delicious, beer battered fish and chips for hubby and vegetable tagliatelle for me. Usual selection of children's meals (everything with chips) but our son didn't complain. My only criticism would be that having paid £10 for fish and chips from the menu other people were buying takeaway fish and chips and eating them in the beer garden on the tables around us. There were at least 5 tables doing this. When we arrived the beer garden was empty and we noticed a sign saying no takeaways to be eaten at tables so we played ball and ordered from the menu. Felt a bit ripped off when everyone else had takeaways. Despite this would definitely recommend and will return if we are back in the area.

Apart from our waitress, a gentleman came out to welcome us and wished us a lovely evening and again checked on us later on.My husband said his mushroom and stilton soup was the 'best soup he had ever had'. Me and my boyfriend were having a little day out in Boscastle and we were both feeling rather peckish! We had originally wanted to go to The Cobweb but that was fully booked so, after much deciding on where to go, we headed to The Old Manor House! I had a roast beef dinner and my boyfriend had roast pork! It was all very pleasant. However, my boyfriend was rather annoyed that he didn't get a Yorkshire pudding with his roast pork. I know, traditionally you're only meant to have a Yorkshire pudding with roast beef (as I had one with mine) but it would have been a nice addition! Also, he was served a stuffing ball and I wasn't. I think adding both of these items to both meals would have been nice. The restaurant itself was very nicely set out and felt quite posh! The only thing was, there seemed to be a few flies flying around the restaurant but it was a sunny day so I suppose it was to be expected to some extent! I think we'd definitely return and try the evening menu as I'd like to try more meals that they have to offer!

It was very nice and the big dining room with widely spaced out tables was a nice space to be in. I hope ehe can get the kitchen running a bit more smoothly but outside that it was a very nice expereince.

Some people may say this is a biased review as I used to work here. But I really wanted to say how lovely our meal was. Me and my partner went for a breakfast and it was faultless. Couldn't fault the friendly staff also, they just make you smile! A lot of care and hard work has gone into this business and it would be a real shame if you didn't visit whether it be a breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a cream tea. Will always come back and I look forward to doing so.

Whenever we holiday in Boscastle, we always eat here both in the beer garden and inside the restaurant. Staff are always friendly, food is good and it's dog friendly so ticks all the boxes for us.

This was our first visit to this place. The service was good and the food was hot and well prepared. We were surprised to find out it was the chef and some of the teams first day. We would recommend a visit

I opted to sit inside and was served a delicious local fish dish and an excellent strawberry dessert. Hit the spot after a day hiking around Tintagel. They also serve fish and chips outside on their patio which was a popular spot.

Three stars maybe a tad generous - the food was ok but nothing special but wouldn't quite call it poor. Sausage and mash came with so much gravy you could drown in it (perhaps supply gravy in small jug to the side?) although was all tasty. The sea bass and noodle stir fry was bizarre - fish fine but stir fry sickly sweet. An odd combo really. The worst thing was the complete lack of service. There were more staff than customers but they just stood around chatting and paid little attention to our needs. We asked for the bill but didn't get it so after 10-15 min waiting we ended up getting up and asking to pay on the way out which resulted in basically standing in the door way using the card machine! This was a quiet evening, how they cope at peak season I just do not know. Hesitant to recommend.

A really nice pub/restaurant with a lovely garden. Dog's are very welcome. There is a fish and chip shop next to it, which are very nice. You can eat these in the beer garden.

My husband and I had a meal at The Old Manor House. All the staff were extremely friendly. The plates were hot and so was the food. Would recommend this hotel for good basic as well as more fancy food. The ambience of the restaurant was very good with a black and white theme which gave a feeling of a restaurant in London.

We went out looking for a place to eat on a busy Saturday. We had been told we should book somewhere, luckily we tried the restaurant. The staff were very welcoming, although inexperienced. The food was excellent.

Nearly missed this lovely restaurant, only the special board made us stop. Food excellent if maybe a little slow coming out. Staff very friendly if a little bit unexperienced (not sure the "staff " t shirts were needed). However would definitely recommend.

We visited the restaurant on evening mid week during a week stay in Boscastle. I had booked the table earlier in the week. Upon arrival we were shown to our table, explained about the specials and the other options on the menu. Whilst this is was being explained to us, another staff member appeared with a bowl of water.....for our Westie which he thoroughly appreciated. we had starters, brie and cranberry and seafood with mains of steak and ale pie, and sea bass and prawn special, followed by a rocky road tart and rocky road sundae. The food was very good indeed, with only a short wait between courses, just enough not too long, but long enough so we didn't feel rushed.Throughout we were expertly attended to by Faye, who was very friendly and put us at ease upon arrival and could not do enough for us during our visit. She was very knowledgeable of the menu availability and what to expect with the dishes we chose. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to any visitor staying in, or indeed passing through Boscastle for a very hearty quality meal. (They also do Big Breakfasts too !)The service we received especially from Faye and also her colleagues was exemplary. This is an ideal place to come to if you have a dog too.All in all we had a very enjoyable evening, which was great as we had chosen this restaurant in the village for a quiet meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

First night of week in Cornwall, a treat, out for supper. Asked for information about Gluten free options. Given an A4 notebook. One and a half pages of allergens!! No menu therefore not much help. Waitress came over expecting us to order, however impossible we had no menu. Had to ask for a drink. The allergen book totally useless. Also given a card with "specials"Husband ordered a mixed grill, after some time waitress returned "no mixed grill"Now been in place about an hour, eventually got food, nothing special. Disappointing for first night of holidays.

Took awhile to be acknowledged and seated, our food took a long time to arrive.I ordered a curry which wasn't even mildly spicy or hot. When our bill arrived we had been charged for 2 drinks which we hadn't ordered totalling £10.Reading the other reviews we must have gone on an " off " night.

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.

We chanced upon this cosy, historic pub while out walking along the Saint's Trail from Perranporth to Cocks on Thursday, 5th December. We initially popped in for lunch - sandwiches, dripping cooked chips plus drinks - and ended up returning that evening for fish and chips, and again on Sunday lunchtime for the Sunday roast. We were that impressed!!!! The haddock and chips was sublime, as was the roast pork, which came with all the trimmings plus the excellent cauliflower cheese as an extra. The desserts of sour cherry roulade and sticky toffee pudding were also excellent. Finally, Matt clearly knows how to keep beer as both the London Pride and Landlord were perfect. As others have recently commented, the new landlords, Matt and Diane, are a class act and we found them very friendly, accommodating and professional. They have a lot of experience from previous ventures and we wish them well at the Bolingey Inn - we will certainly return there, next time we are on holiday in the area and will happily recommend it to others.
