Don't know about the food because we weren't able to sit. We tried to book ahead for a party of 6 but were told the don't take bookings and there would be space. Lo and behold we turn up there's no space and some of the tables are reserved! So much for not taking bookings!! Some of our party travelled a fair distance to meet up as well! Appalling customer service. Not happy. Edit: for reference, we did try to resolve without success and then spent 10 minutes in the entry area trying to locate another place last minute. Maybe you could try a ''no show within 10-15 minutes'' policy...at least that provides a reasonable wait time for those who've reserved and those that may wait for a table to free up.

Draft beers cost around £5/cup, and there are also cocktail options. There are many seating areas, and having open-air outdoor seating is a plus ❤️ The details in the bar are very beautiful. The hanging teapots and old-style wine glasses are very unique. There is also a fox on the ceiling staring at the ducks, which is warm and cute. It's right next to a park, perfect for a drink after a walk.

The best thing about the Old Horse, other than their huge lawned beer garden and play area is their traditional home cooked Sunday lunches. Not only do they have a good selection of meats, potatoes and veg, but they always have some delicious vegetarian options aswell. There is always something to please everyone, even strict dietry requirements! The Old Horse is a great pub for all the family and have a good selection of local beers on tap too.

Never been before, we were going to see a show and popped in for some food. I ordered a hotdog with chillies and sourcream, my partner ordered a fillet of fish. My partners meal was OK but not as described on menu, it wasn't a fillet of fish it was two fish fingers in a bun. My meal arrived with a cold hot dog and chilli, worse than that the bread was stale and disintegrating, my chips were hot but I had to pay extra £2.50 as this meal did not come with chips as standard which is OK, however I got half the amount my partner had with her meal which did come as standard. I did report this to a member of staff and he said he would have a word with the chef.. We were sitting right opposite the kitchen, I saw the member of staff go into kitchen, scrape food in the bin and walk back out so I don't think it was mentioned. Not a great experience for a first visit so I'll give it a miss next time.

I visited here with a friend for the Thursday evening drinks and food. The drinks on offer is very good here with a wide choice of beer and ciders. All drinks are reasonably priced. The atmosphere and deco is very good with outside seating at the front and beer garden at the back. If you park in the car park then you must not forget to enter your registration at the counter. The food served was not a reasonable standard (for the evening). It was a little disappointing. But we still enjoyed our visit here. And I will always recommend this place.

I've visited this pub several times over the 20 years that I’ve lived in Leicester (not a regular) and I've never had any issues until yesterday. We ordered two different hot baguettes and cheesy chips. When the food arrived, one of the baguettes had the wrong sauce. Although it was a minor issue, the lady serving us was happy to correct it. We were playing a Monopoly card game and stopped as soon as the food arrived. Unfortunately, my BLT baguette was overcooked and extremely hard—definitely not enjoyable. The pulled pork baguette was cold, even though we tried the food as soon as it was served. WITHIN 5MINS, I approached a staff member to express my concerns, and the young lad was very polite and informed the landlady, who was sitting just behind us outside. When the landlady came over, I explained the issues. She told me that the pulled pork baguette is supposed to be served cold, which I found odd since it was listed on the hot menu. She didn’t seem too pleased with my complaint but took the food back and told me I could get a refund. We weren’t in a rush, as we planned to stay for a few more drinks, but she kindly brought the refund to our table, which I appreciated. We continued playing cards and left the money on the table. Then, a gentleman approached us and asked, "I hope you’re not gambling?" We replied that we were just playing Monopoly, a card game. He then asked, "Why is that money on the table?" I explained that it was the refund for the food. Suddenly, in a raised and aggressive tone, he said, "Yeah, that’s why your food got cold—because you were too busy playing cards." I told him that wasn’t true because we started eating right away. He then said he would check the CCTV. I encouraged him to do so, and he walked off mumbling to himself. I could tell he realized he was going to be wrong. What an absolute idiot. Im guessing he was the owner or manager. To add to this, if the pulled pork is supposed to be served cold, as you claimed, why did you blame us for it going cold? I’d be happy to watch the CCTV with you if you’d like. You literally have a “HOT BAGUETTE” section on your menu as I’ve posted. In your responses to other reviews, you mention that people don't come to you directly to complain about the food. Well, we did, and look how you reacted. Maybe that’s why people don’t approach you—because you become aggressive. You was unprofessional and disrespectful, maybe you was having a bad day. I won’t be returning unless the guy invites me to watch the CCTV so I can watch his face in disappointment because we wasn’t lying.

I am incredibly sad to be writing this type of review, however it needs to be said. The owners are un inviting, unapproachable and somewhat rude, we had a wake organised at this pub and the level of sympathy towards our family and friends was zero. Some family members where wheelchair users and they where being rushed and ushered out with no compassion. Would not be returning On a positive, the bar staff were amazing. Managers both need to go on a course on how to be fair, compassionate people

I never write reviews but I can definitely say that this was mandatory. Awful customer service, awful landlord, awful security. I was at a wake yesterday and was pushed out the way for absolutely no reason by the owner of the pub, I was completely aware of this as I was not drinking. I was shouted at and was told to be out the way. The service towards the elderly people within the pub was treated incredibly disrespectfully. The only thing that is good going for this pub is the park opposite… Wheel chair accessibility: If you are in a wheelchair please do not go to this pub. They do not cater for people who even walk. Customer service: Non existent - if anything, unbelievably disgusting.

I would not usually come online to share my experience unless I really felt it necessary for experience of future visitors. We visited The Old Horse yesterday to celebrate the life of a family member who had been buried earlier in the day. I approached the bar to order a drink for my grandma, she had asked me for half a lager, I don’t drink so I’m not familiar with the fact that different lagers identify themselves with different names. When the landlady who served me asked me which lager I would like, I said I wasn’t sure and quickly turned to ask a family member behind me who responded ‘Carling’ by the time I turned back around to relay this message to the landlady she had already made Peroni. I told her that it needed to be Carling or my grandma wouldn’t drink it, she was very rude and shouted at me whilst huffing and puffing. Later in the day I asked if my phone could be charged behind the bar, I had a charger already so it just needed to be plugged into a socket. The bartenders said they couldn’t charge it behind the bar because they couldn’t take liability if anything was to go wrong, but they responded with a solution that I could charge it elsewhere as there were various sockets situated around the pub. I found a plug near to where my family were sat and left my phone charging. The landlord bought my phone over to the table, slammed it down and said “this is my electric you’re using”. This was done in such a rude manner and made me feel very unwelcome. I’ve visited many bars, pubs and restaurants in my time. I can definitely confirm that I have never experienced such disregard for customers emotions and insensitivity to what was a difficult day for my family. I will never return to this place and I am surprised that there isn’t other reviews similar to this one. Considering the significant amount of sales we bought to this pub yesterday, we was thanked with an unpleasant customer service.

My starters was the peri peri skewer cam either a little salad garnish and some red onion on the side and a small dish of peri peri dip. Was really nice. Initially, I thought the size was too small, which was just right. The main was turkey, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, green beans, new potatoes, stuffing, and due to a dairy allergy , I was given my own jug of gravy - which was delicious. Had cranberry sauce, too. Very nice. For pudding, I had the vegan ice cream in a brandy snap basket topped with slices of fresh strawberry. Lovely

This was a great find. Delicious food, served very quickly at a very reasonable price and not too far from De Montfort Hall.

Food is amazing. Sausages and mash was perfect, I don’t even like peas and yet they were perfectly done. I don’t even like mash or sausages that much but this meal was great. Came in a giant Yorkshire pudding. Had a pint of 1849 which was spot on. The hot nuts are nice too, great pub except from the lager seems to always have a tang to it.

Visited daughter who is at De Montfort university and went here for a carvery. Firstly, on walking in the pub had a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and the effort they have gone to with Halloween decorations was second to none. The food was delicious, a great portion size and the staff were welcoming and polite. My daughter is gluten free and she was able to have everything she wanted with staff being very accommodating to meet her needs. We shared two dessert between the four of us as we didn’t really have room but they sounded to good not to treat ourselves. Again a good GF choice and both portions were big enough for two. Well done team, we will be back next time we visit and I’m intrigued to see if you decorate as well for Christmas as you have for Halloween.
