Great place, loved the way its decorated, great atmosphere, pleasant staff, parking space.

Sunday lunch looked tasty. Beer was very tasty.

Fun pub, great quiz night on Tuesdays, with fabulous host. Highly recommended.

Great pub with nice surroundings inside and out to the point you'll forget you're close to the middle of the city. Always friendly staff with good service and large range of drinks. Didn't order food on this occasion but can be a bit hit and miss although reasonably priced.

I come hear with my family for a meal food allways good good ale on tap out side chairs and tables dog friendly they got a back garden it closed at mo good if you got kids I got 3 they enjo going they have fun give mum a night off if you park they put your reg in so you don't get a ticket enjo

If you are in leicester on a Sunday and would like a good traditional lunch, look no further, you can get satisfaction here, good chefs, real ales and a fair price makes the old horse a must....I've been many times and always enjoyed it...I don't mind joining the queue for nice food.

Plenty of seating, no booking required . I went with my 2 yr old son and had a great Time. Staff very friendly and helpful. I shared a sunday roast carvery plate with my son . The meal was enormous and super yummy. This was my 1st time going, but we are returning there very soon

Food was sorta ok, service was very good and atmosphere was loud, maybe coz of a weekend. Good amount of parking space and dog friendly.

Travelled from Lancashire for a show and stopped at the The old horse. What a wonderful place. The staff were attentive and very polite. A great selective of local ales and well know lagers. The food was perfect, steak spot on and we'll presented as was the gammon. Brilliant pub with an very pleasant atmosphere and a wide eclectic collection of "artifacts" including a coffin. I will definitely be back again.

We have enjoyed an amazing valentines tapas experience at the old horse. We had a wonderful warm welcome from our host’s, a fabulous guitarist that serenaded us throughout the evening. Who we look forward to seeing again soon The food and wine was excellent complements to the chef thank you, we would definitely recommend. There were a lot of people in when I went, but I think there was an event on. Have been before and the food is good but I had a coffee this time (nice) Bit of a quirky place, but there's no reason to fault it when I've been in the past, so I would pop in again and have lunch with colleagues. Cheap n cheerful.

Just awful! People skills non existent. Food was almost edible. Would not go back. Dreadful experience……..

Has always been a great pub. Since the refurb, I particularly like the section with the firefighters theme. Great amount of choice on tap. Lots of seating. The beer garden is also massive. I can't remember the last time I've been in a toilet that was clean, so kudos there too. Staff are very friendly. For the people moaning about the carpark fine, if you are that unaware of your surroundings, you deserve to be fined

I am incredibly sad to be writing this type of review, however it needs to be said. The owners are un inviting, unapproachable and somewhat rude, we had a wake organised at this pub and the level of sympathy towards our family and friends was zero. Some family members where wheelchair users and they where being rushed and ushered out with no compassion. Would not be returning On a positive, the bar staff were amazing. Managers both need to go on a course on how to be fair, compassionate people

I would not usually come online to share my experience unless I really felt it necessary for experience of future visitors. We visited The Old Horse yesterday to celebrate the life of a family member who had been buried earlier in the day. I approached the bar to order a drink for my grandma, she had asked me for half a lager, I don’t drink so I’m not familiar with the fact that different lagers identify themselves with different names. When the landlady who served me asked me which lager I would like, I said I wasn’t sure and quickly turned to ask a family member behind me who responded ‘Carling’ by the time I turned back around to relay this message to the landlady she had already made Peroni. I told her that it needed to be Carling or my grandma wouldn’t drink it, she was very rude and shouted at me whilst huffing and puffing. Later in the day I asked if my phone could be charged behind the bar, I had a charger already so it just needed to be plugged into a socket. The bartenders said they couldn’t charge it behind the bar because they couldn’t take liability if anything was to go wrong, but they responded with a solution that I could charge it elsewhere as there were various sockets situated around the pub. I found a plug near to where my family were sat and left my phone charging. The landlord bought my phone over to the table, slammed it down and said “this is my electric you’re using”. This was done in such a rude manner and made me feel very unwelcome. I’ve visited many bars, pubs and restaurants in my time. I can definitely confirm that I have never experienced such disregard for customers emotions and insensitivity to what was a difficult day for my family. I will never return to this place and I am surprised that there isn’t other reviews similar to this one. Considering the significant amount of sales we bought to this pub yesterday, we was thanked with an unpleasant customer service.

I never write reviews but I can definitely say that this was mandatory. Awful customer service, awful landlord, awful security. I was at a wake yesterday and was pushed out the way for absolutely no reason by the owner of the pub, I was completely aware of this as I was not drinking. I was shouted at and was told to be out the way. The service towards the elderly people within the pub was treated incredibly disrespectfully. The only thing that is good going for this pub is the park opposite… Wheel chair accessibility: If you are in a wheelchair please do not go to this pub. They do not cater for people who even walk. Customer service: Non existent - if anything, unbelievably disgusting.

We had a wonderful team Christmas meal here. Lovely food in a great location, would certainly recommend a visit; in fact several visits. Very friendly and helpful staff who make the entire visit a pleasure.

The staff on New Years Eve 2023 were fantastic, great team who worked together and got everyone served quickly but also enjoyed the atmosphere even though they were giving up their NYE to work! Good pints throughout the night too, well done and thank you to all the team!

So, I went here for a Christmas work. Was extremely busy to be fair but a lovely atmosphere. Drinks were very nice, maybe a little expensive,😅 but I never go out, so probably the right price. My starters was the peri peri skewer cam either a little salad garnish and some red onion on the side and a small dish of peri peri dip. Was really nice. Initially, I thought the size was too small, which was just right. The main was turkey, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, green beans, new potatoes,stuffing, and due to a dairy allergy , I was given my own jug of gravy - which was delicious. Had cranberry sauce, too. Very nice. For pudding, I had the vegan ice cream in a brandy snap basket topped with slices of fresh strawberry. Lovely

Stopped in for a drink before going to De Montfort Hall to see a performance. We felt very welcome, a great choice of ales and ciders as well as bar snacks; a lovely atmosphere, friendly members of staff and lovely decorations for Christmas. Their food menu looked good and we plan on eating there next time we're in the area.

Great pub, have come here on two occasions before a Leicester tigers game, both times it has handled heavy traffic really well, food has been tasty and a great selection of lager, ale and cider. It’s really well decorated, having cosy booths and large tables to pick from

Went before Halloween & it's just WOW! Food fantastic, Staff so welcoming... this place is like nowhere else in Leicester. No wonder they win awards.

This was a great find. Delicious food, served very quickly at a very reasonable price and not too far from De Montfort Hall.

Food is amazing. Sausages and mash was perfect, I don’t even like peas and yet they were perfectly done. I don’t even like mash or sausages that much but this meal was great. Came in a giant Yorkshire pudding. Had a pint of 1849 which was spot on. The hot nuts are nice too, great pub except from the lager seems to always have a tang to it.

We attended this lovely old pub as part of a rugby club tour. Dee, the landlady, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, managing to feed our large group with an excellent evening meal. The atmosphere on the Saturday evening we visited was very friendly and the pub’s quirky decor is fantastic!

Visited daughter who is at De Montfort university and went here for a carvery. Firstly, on walking in the pub had a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and the effort they have gone to with Halloween decorations was second to none. The food was delicious, a great portion size and the staff were welcoming and polite. My daughter is gluten free and she was able to have everything she wanted with staff being very accommodating to meet her needs. We shared two dessert between the four of us as we didn’t really have room but they sounded to good not to treat ourselves. Again a good GF choice and both portions were big enough for two. Well done team, we will be back next time we visit and I’m intrigued to see if you decorate as well for Christmas as you have for Halloween.

Oh what a find! While visiting our niece in Leicester we fancied a Sunday carvery so Holly suggested this pub as close to her student house and a place previously visited. We were pleased to find a car parking space and a table for 5 instantly. The carvery was awesome, generous and a great selection of meat. We chose lamb shank and beef which were excellent, veg and trimmings cooked to perfection and really cheap £12.50/15.00. Will certainly visit here again should we return to Leicester. If you love Halloween, you must visit as decorations are amazing!

It looks like a lovely pub and has really nice and welcoming staff ! However the food, specifically the Sunday carvery, let's this place down! Me and my partner both had the beef and it was so dry we struggled to eat it. The cheesy broccoli had a strange gelatinous texture to it which put me off my food entirely. A carvery is when a cook or another individual carves the meats infront of you, which you should change your description on your website, however the beef and other selections of meat were just under a heat lamp overlooking and getting dry. I will definitely not be returning for food in the future .

It's a really nicely done out pub with plenty of choice of ales and drinks. I have memories of going with different types of people, after church events and, even a date. I used to love the garden in cold weather due to the outdoor heaters. Hope that redresses the 3 stars for such a nice pub. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I arrived shortly before a large party of guests, so was denied lunch and offered bar snacks.

1st time, I've been back in 20 years. It's much better, brighter and more friendly. The young lady who served me was a bit grumpy and barely gave eye contact, grunted when I asked for a glass for the bottled drink given. However I will be returning for food as I really enjoyed my visit and the food I saw looked really good.

We had a carvery here which was amazing and good value for money. Will certainly be going back again. Parking isn't great but there is plenty of street parking nearby

AVOID. Parking signs are not clear. Myself and my sister-in-law both failed to see them and did not register our vehicles. This was a simple mistake that meant we were sent parking charge notices totalling £120 for a single 2 hour visit to the pub even though we purchased food and drinks whilst in there. Disgraceful. We now have appeal to the parking company.

Always great food, variety of drinks and lovely friendly staff. Great with our kids too.

Got a threatening letter from them with a £60 parking fine. So did my sister in law. They must be happy to lose customers. Avoid like the plague.

Wouldn't recommend chicken wings. They are cooked and then frozen. They pre heat it before serving. Chicken burger was really dry and had a nasty smell to the chicken. Smelt like it was left in a tub for a few days. Would never eat here again. Drinks were good and bar staff was lovely.

Fantastic pub, I go semi regularly for Sunday dinner there. Price is very reasonable for the size of the meal (between £10-13 depending on meat choice) when they say regular it's large haha. Good selection of beer, cider and spirits Dog friendly - they even do free Sunday roast for dogs on a tiny paper plate. Lots of seating including a smoking area and a long beer garden with a small play area for kids Tldr; great pub for a Sunday roast for all the family

Staff were friendly, but had the chicken burger, ate the lettuce, tomato and chips. The chicken was awful, certainly not chargrilled. It was tasteless and like warm.

Great pub good selection of beers really friendly staff great food selection at a very good price this is just the tapas menu on Wednesday. They have a large main menu plus hot selection every day .. really freindly place give it a try in the side rooms open fires. just been refurbished and it's even better now

Brilliant Everard's community pub, a ten min walk from Leicester rail station, a range of Everard's beers, plus several guest ales on the bar, large interior is complemented by a small drinking area facing the road, and a huge beer garden out the back, not to be missed.

Good food and drinks only drawback was the amount of smoking outside and a lot of that was weed openly smoked all of the outside it's something that you do not need when out relaxing

The carvery has a great section but was Luke warm when we had it and also took a while to be served. Lovely place, decor is great with lots of different memorabilia. The reason for my review being only I can't give a 5* is because the food wasn't very warm and when I tried to explain to the manager or whoever it was in an email , that i had been given a parking charge for parking in the car park , they wern't interested in helping me out by getting InTouch with the company that's trying to fine me. Said it had been in place for a few years so nothing they can do. For one it's irrelevant how long it's been that way when you're a new customer and also I don't buy that that a manager could have a word and sort it out with the proof of the amount spent from my bank statement. It's a shame , I really like it here but seems they don't value their customers enough.

Have been here a few times when staying in Leicester and have allowed it. A nice selection of real ales, fabulous Sunday lunch, including two vegetarian options, and a huge beer garden to enjoy.

Spent Sunday afternoon here sat outside. Had a great time sampling cider. Staff were friendly. We decided to sample the carvery later on. Great value! I went for lamb shank. I was asked if I wanted all the veg expecting to have a spoonful but got a ladle full! Declined new potatoes. Lamb fell off the bone. Couldn't eat all the veg, far too much but it was a lovely meal.

It looked amazing they really enjoyed it ..I had broccoli melt it was very yummy and my other half had half chicken the portions where quite large value for money and we all had an amazing meal ..the service was excellent We will definitely be going back again thank you
