The Eggs Benedict here are absolutely supreme. The staff were friendly and the food arrived fast. Lovely experience will come again

Afternoon tea today was lovely, the best we've had anywhere locally in a long time. Plenty of food, endless tea/coffee and a great selection of both sweets and savouries. Staff were brilliant too, nothing too much trouble, so it all made for a very pleasant visit. What's not to like!!! Very popular venue that we will definitely visit again

Nice place plenty of parking Choice of meals ok ..offers on buy one get cold sandwich then one half price but it did not come off the bill and the service was slow our food came before our drinks! they do not give you a bill just a total which you do not notice the offer does not come off....check your bill and ask for a break down bill when you go the till

We went for the special deal of the Afternoon Tea. This was a deal that was on for a week which was £25 for the 2 of you (a saving of £11). It was very good value. Endless tea, coffee and water. Quiche, pork pie, potato wedges, 2 sandwiches (ham and mustard, and cheese and pickle), mini doughnut, lemon cheesecake, selection of fruit slices and to finish with jam, and cream on a scone.

I do work here so I’m biased. However, I did visit with my friends for afternoon tea and they loved it. I felt chuffed to bits. Thank you guys xxx

Brilliant cafe! So accommodating and the breakfast was delicious! The staff were so friendly especially Sophie who went out of her way to accommodate us. Best breakfast we've had a in a long time.

I am not often one for puddings and when I went a couple of weeks, the service was terrible, and I have never known anything like it there before, My mum ordered the pudding for me, and it was almost near enough 45 mins for a pudding, which I didn't even get in the first place because I decided to cancel the order and just pay for our main, the waitress asked the chef it had gone through and they went no, I said to them you cancel it as I don't want it, and the face I got pulled was disgraceful.

We go every month to buy the latest Meat Hamper. This is always good products and very good value for money. Very friendly staff.

I have been many times before but this time was an eye opener. We had to wait some time to be seated. There was only one front of house. Eventually we were seated but there was no one available to take our order. The front of house girl told us she wasn’t allowed to take orders, only her boss could. We were also told we couldn’t order coffee as the machine was broken. The poor girl was left helpless with nothing to do. The kitchen were waiting for orders. Eventually, the one in charge appeared and started taken orders from the 6 tables who were patiently waiting. The service was dreadful and the coffee machine worked perfectly, they just didn’t have time to make it. At one point they asked us to move to another table so that they could push tables together to seat a table of six. Others were quick to exit when they learned of no coffee. A bit of staff training wouldn’t go a miss

A perfect place to meet friends and family. The food is always consistent with a wide choice. Don’t miss out on the puddings and cakes and delicious coffees. A welcoming atmosphere with great customer service. Then drop into the farm shop next door for a wide selection of fresh local produce.

We both had the full breakfast. Friendly, if slow and a little erratic, service - we both ordered fried eggs, only one of us received one. This oversight was quickly rectified. The breakfast wasn't cheap, £10.95 plus the cost of a drink, but it is of high quality. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. If you do go to the cafe at this time of year/in colder weather, do take something warm to wear. The cafe was not warm when we visited, perhaps it hadn't had time to warm up after Sunday closure. All the customers in the cafe were sitting well wrapped up. If at all possible, do avoid being seated near the door!

Fantastic little cafe and shop! The cafe serves amazing home cooked food and a proper Yorkshire brew! And the shop is an absolute gem, tucked away on the outskirts of Huddersfield in a mainly residential neighbourhood. It is a case of you blink and you’ll miss it. The shop contains some amazing local food and also some great homemade pies, pasties and desserts. Not to mention fresh eggs! Whilst the in house butchers is simply amazing value for amazing meat!

We popped in for lunch as we were going to the farm shop as I hadn't been before and my daughter recommended it . About a dozen in on arrival ,I ordered a scone , my daughter ordered poached egg on toast with avocado, drinks came quickly luke warm then reheated , scone quickly came quickly , sadly 50mins later no poached eggs had to cancel ! At this point the cafe was full ,in 50mins only 8 meals came out , people next to us told they couldn't order for 15mins ? Poor service .

Well where to start!!! We have just walked out of the Villa Farm Shop. Gave our order for lunch...cups of tea came straight away and an hour later our food had still not arrived. Non of the staff came to say there was a delay...basically just left to sit. All the tea had been drunk. We have been numerous times before but today means we will never go back. Absolute shambles. We did offer to pay for the tea bit no charge was made.

Had our first breakfast here after returning from holiday a couple of months ago after a delayed flight. We’d had a breakfast the day before at Heathrow, Gordon Ramsays ‘Plane Food’ - Villa farm cafe is 1000% better! In fact you can’t make a comparison. The food at the villa cafe is cooked to perfection, the staff are lovely, professional, courteous and helpful. The price of the food is reasonable especially after the rubbish we were served at Gordon Ramsays. So we’ve been again for another treat and we weren’t disappointed. Excellent breakfast, lovely staff and a clean cafe with lots of returning customers which speaks for itself.

The farm shop was lovely, and then we had lunch in the cafe. Food was amazing, everyone cleared their plate. Staff were lovely and extremely accommodating. Definitely be back in the near future, we have found a Yorkshire gem.

Absolutely first class, nicest scrambled eggs I’ve ever tasted. We will be back, we both said it’s our new go to place for breakfast.

The staff worked hard to seat all 5 of us at a table but 2 pushed togetter got us together a t last. We only had 3 different meals. I had the chicken and ham pie with boiled veg, roast spuds and yes, chicken gravy. My wife had the jacket potato with salad and prawn in sauce. All 3 additional adults had beef and onion gravy sandwiches! The meals were big enough tat l had to pass on 2 roast spuds!! We all had to pass on a dessert! Staff were very friendly and as helpful as could be expected considering the venue was jammed full, and, there was enough parking nearby. We didn’t get into the farm shop but promise that next time we dine there, we will!

Overnight stay, went to this lovely cafe for breakfast which I found on my way out of town. Very good. Friendly service.

What a lovely find. My wife and I plus a friend were on the way to a local children's hospice and we came across this lovely place. All our orders were served efficiently and thee food was lovely. I think we may need to find an excuse to revisit.

Nice experience. I had to wait longer than necessary before anyone came to “ seat me” but otherwise all good. Very pleasant experienced staff. Ordered steak pie which came with mash and a good selection of vegetables covered in gravy. Good selection of tray bakes and cakes on display- but I didn’t sample them .Toilets immaculate!! A rare sight in most establishments!! Farm shop very busy so not much scope to mooch around there. Based on todays experience will definitely make an effort today revisit.

Visited this afternoon for a quiet coffee. Waited at the sign as directed only to be overtaken by 3 customers behind me who insisted there was no need to wait. Sat patiently waiting to order but at least 6 people served before me. Ordered a...

The wife and I stopped for lunch here purely by chance and would struggle to fault it. The service was a bit slow but unsurprising given that we ordered beef dinners. Personally I would prefer to wait for something that has been well cooked rather...

Worst roast beef sandwich ever … dried up beef that was like eating cardboard & dry bread. Will never be going back.

We visit the farm shop most weeks to buy our meat from the butcher, products from the deli, dairy products etc. from the fridge and eggs. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

I can’t recommend Villa farm shop high enough. It’s food and especially the meat is excellent as is the service and the cafe follows suit with very good food and again excellent service.

Called with my neighbour for breakfast . One mini breakfast £7 odd . Sausage the size of my little finger was burnt bordering on inedible ( poor advertisement for a farm shop ) . Half of tomato looked like someone had stood on it ....

I bought a turkey salad box on Monday for my lunch and I was very disappointed! I used to buy salads from here quite frequently and they were very good and value for money, but not any more.I paid £3:45 for a small box of lettuce, with two slices of tomato, two slices of cucumber, two slices of beetroot and two slices of pepper, one of which was rotten. The Turkey itself was okay, but wafer thin.There wasn’t any dressing offered, or coleslaw, or potato salad or anything to give the salad some flavour.

Took my wife again for lunch. Absolutely spot on. Had a pulled pork ciabatta and a cheese and bacon burger. All freshly cooked local produce and home made coleslaw. This was our second visit and we will certainly be going again. Would certainly recommend the milkshakes and the vanilla slices.Social distancing measures are in place and are definitely being followed.

Recommended by friends, we visited this busy little cafe for a mid-afternon coffee and cake. The wonderful display of delicious looking homemade cakes made our choice exceedingly difficult. We enjoyed our coffees plus a sticky toffee cheesecake and mini mars bar crispy traybake. Both were generous portions, very fresh, tasted great and only £2.50 each.

We’ve visited this cafe numerous times and always had good food and service. This visit we received the usual good service (and excellent coffee...) but we found the food, we ordered a full breakfast, a little disappointing. The bacon, sausage and tomatoes had clearly been cooked well in advance making them tasteless and rather tough. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and inedible. Such a shame as this is really not the usual quality we expect. Not sure what’s gone wrong here...? We’re pretty loyal so we’ll be back.

My wife and I visited the Old Forge mid afternoon last Saturday. My wife ordered a beef sandwich and I ordered a bacon sandwich. We also had a coffee each which came straight away. It was very busy and was concerned that our coffees would be cold before our meals came. No problem. A lovely member of staff noticed this and brought us another pair of coffees on the house. Our meals came and my wife found that the beef was a little fatty. This was sorted no problem. Food was really nice and my bacon sandwich was the nicest I’d had in a long time. Good food, conscientious staff. What more do you need. We’ll be back

We’ve visited here a couple of times now and it’s been great on both occasions. We both had a full English breakfast (one veggie) and they were both excellent. Eggs, bacon and sausage all cooked to perfection. The service is quick and the staff are friendly, plus it’s very well priced. Would definitely recommend. Only downside is it’s so popular around lunch time you can’t always get a table.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Old Forge Cafe- Turkey Yorkshire Pudding wrap - even the vegetables were hot, crisp and very flavoursome! Thankyou Sophie for excellent service and a lovely meal. We will most definitely be back! Off to explore the farm shop now

The cafe was very busy and we were lucky to get a table. We waited 45 minutes to get a menu and in the end we decided to get it ourselves. We asked the young waitress if we could order and she said she would come over but never did. We asked another waitress if we could order and she took or order. We ordered a tuna sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich which took a long time to arrive but both tasted very good. Overall the food was good but was let down by the poor service.

This is a small farm shop cafe offering good food and good service.There is ample car parking and obviosuly you can visit the farm shop afterwards.There is a wide menu with daily specials and their sandwiches are very good value.On this occasion we had the big breakfast at £7.50 which was very well cooked with good ingredients with maybe the sausage the only slight disappointmeny but good granary toast. We also tried the skinny breakfast at £6.Good coffee and teas and a good selection of cakes !

Stoped in here on the way to visit family. Service was impeccable and the cheesecake absolutely amazing. Homemade and full of flavour. Coffee served in Mason Jars had us thinking that they were cold but they were hot. Overall a beautiful cafe friendly inviting and cosy.

We were on our way to Huddersfield Crematorium and being quite early, we noticed a sign pointing out the Cafe and Farm Shop, so we made a beeline for the cafe. We ordered 3 bacon sandwiches and 3 large coffees. The sandwiches came almost immediately, but unfortunately the coffees took a while. The bacon sandwiches were "to die for" - lots of smoked bacon in a granary roll - quite delicious. The staff were apologetic about the lateness of the coffee and unfortunately, none of us had time to finish this, but what we had was very good. We would certainly return to this lovely cafe, when in the area and would thoroughly recommend.

Three of us turned up here on a Friday lunchtime. They were rather busy, but working at full speed to clear tables so peolle weren't waiting too long. Three portions of soul of the day (tomato and red pepper) were ordered, two with the cheese scone option , the other with the hot brisket & onion sandwich on granary. Then we realised why it was busy - the food is amazing. We'll all be back soon.

My husband and I stopped off here en route to Bedale, North Yorkshire. We were made incredibly welcome by the staff at The Old Forge Coffee shop. The choice of breakfast options is extensive and we really enjoyed our food. The service was so friendly/efficient and the food so good, that we stopped here again for coffee and cakes on our way home from our holiday. The Villa Farm shop next door was also well stocked with lots of home made essentials. Would thoroughly recommend both.

The lovely cafe next door to Villa farm shop serves a great selection of fresh, homemade food throughout the day. The staff are friendly and helpful, special mention goes to the manager Sophie along with Jen and Emma who always offer a warm welcome. Looking forward to our next visit.

Visited The Old Forge yesterday for the first time for a family breakfast. Having been born and raised down the road from the farm, it’s great to see them diversify into the very good shop and cafe.

Come here regularly. Food is lovely and lots of different varieties from breakfasts to lunch. Friendly service and very clean. Service can be a little slow and not very efficient when they are busy.

Came across this as I was returning to Nottingham after a meeting in Huddersfield. Asked for ham sandwich with mustard, and the staff competed to see who could bring me the mustard first - English and French - thanks chaps! Nice salad garnish with peppers, leaves, dressing. Good pot of tea, loose leaves, extra hot water and milk no problem. Cakes looked delicious. Looks like it can be busy, I arrived about 11.45, so a choice of tables.

This is a lovely place with a massive menu, the very best quality food and really nice staff. It's a little pricey but justified by the high quality.

Tried this for lunch yesterday, Sat 9th March, for the first time, 3 of us.The cafe is pleasant & clean, including th toilets & the waitress was very friendly, the food didn't take too long to arrive even though it was busy. It was a bit awkward for people having to queue for a table as there was nowhere for them to wait really, they must feel a bit exposed standing in the middle, luckily we got the last free table. The food we had was fine, a panini & salad, a hot beef sandwich & a few chips with skin on with gravy & a beef & mushroom pie with a few chips, gravy & a bit weird mixture of broccoli, cabbage & watercress. My only gripe is it seemed rather expensive for what we got, we are regulars at Brosters farm shop cafe & you seem to get better value for money there, a lovely view plus the actual farm shop is a lot bigger with more choice of products. Also the loose leaf tea was very weak. However we bought some scones to take home which were very tasty & light, definitely home made & the other bakes looked good quality. All in all it was ok but not really value for money.

Came here for the first time last week and decided to return today it was so good. Had the Butternut Squash soup and my wife had the Mushroom and Chevre. Both were delicious and are accompanied with large and very tasty Cheese scones. Last weeks scones were presented differently and as such were a little better but today's were still tasty. Always very busy and the staff are run a bit ragged at times, but today one of the owners took control and things progressed well. Nice chat with her after which was nice. Will certainly return even though we are 20 miles away!!!

We normally go here for our meat but never bothered with the cafe,my loss. We decided Friday we’d give it a try on Saturday morning when we went for our meat,what a find. Brilliant friendly staff,lovely and spotlessly clean, very fresh food(no packet stuff) deep yellow yolk from the fresh eggs, many choices of bread for the toast,proper tea(not a tea bag) WHAT A BREAKFAST. At last somewhere to go that’s good for early morning food, excellent. Will certainly be back see you soon thanks. Call in to the shop for meat and pies very very friendly an knowledgeable butcher

Called in with our Granddaughter and enjoyed hot drinks and a bacon sandwich with black pudding and mushroom and stilton on toast.

My wife and i went to the Xmas Dining night and found it to be a wonderful experience.We had previously been to an Italian night and that was great but this surpassed that.The food was beautiful and the staff were great.It was nice to have vegetables that were not just the norm which complimented the turkey which just melted in your mouth.i would expect nothing less from Ritchie and his team.

Was just passing and was thinking about eating when I came across the sign for this establishment so I thought I would stop and have a look. Parked up and went in thinking about breakfast. First thoughts were how clean it was and the pleasantness of the staff. Lots of choices on the menu. I ordered the big breakfast which arrived within ten minutes. It was all freshly cooked, hot and very tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning for another breakfast.

Not the easiest place to find but when you do it is well worth the drive. Very good fresh food and excellent views from the large windows We had the meat and cheese platter and a chicken salad - both very generous portions. Take out cakes are good.

We have used this cafe, restaurant since it first opened and when ordering the staff tell you that there could be a little wait, normally this has been about 15 mins but today Saturday 10th November after 30 mins we enquired how much longer. Whilst the young girl went from us to the kitchen several times and still could not assures us when our order would be ready we cancelled and left. The young girl was extremely apologetic. Yes the food is good and the serving staff polite, but we will not be returning.

The old forge at villa farm shop is by far the best local farm shop cafe around. I have tried bolster moor and Brosters and neither compare! Beautiful food always- especially breakfast- eggs benedict is my fave!!

You can usually judge an establishment by how it deals with mistakes. This little coffee shop gets 10 out of 10. After waiting 20 mins for coffee and scones I went to find out what had happened to our order. We first received an apology and were then informed our order was being prepared. Our order was served with a second apology. Whilst we were tucking in to our delicious scones with lashings of butter a third apology came and the offer to take a complimentary cake of our choice home. We couldn't have asked for more and it was more than we expected. Well done to the whole team who give excellent service and always with a smile. We will be back again soon.

I’ve been here a few times now with family and it’s increasing in popularity. Their staff are brilliant at service and the food is home cooked style and delicious! My favourite is the soup of the day (mushroom has been the best) and the cheese scone they serve with it is the best!

Visited on Saturday with my mum just before closing time for coffee and cake. Great selection of cakes availalbe, all homemade.

Brunch with my parents today was absolutely lovely, cooked breakfast was excellent 9/10. Would have made a 10/10 if served on hot plates. (Beans a little cold). But really lovely ingredients, from the toast, quality sausages and lovely bacon to the rich eggs and even butter tasting like it used to.

Very convenient location, just off major roundabout. Lovely food and excellent coffee. Fair prices. Plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

Me and my friend came for a catch up and some brunch today and it was simply lovely. The food came out quickly, was delicious and the staff were all so lovely. Cakes looked delicious too but we were too full! Really lovely cafe and clean toilets and a lovely little farm shop with lots of choice as well.

We had been bought a gift of afternoon tea and phones through to book a table. This was extremely easy and efficient and we were so glad to find they had reserved a lovely window table. True the view is only out to the farm yard/car park but the light made the experience so much more enjoyable.

Delicious afternoon tea delivered by lovely friendly staff. We had far to much food to eat and were given little boxes to take home the left overs. One of the party has a nut allergy which was catered for superbly. All round fantastic experience.

Just had a Christmas lunch at the Old Forge, first time we have had a meal their and it was really lovely thank you. The staff are always very pleasant and we enjoy visiting for our Friday latte. Look forward to visiting in 2018. Happy Christmas to you all.

Being a frequent visitor to The Old Forge Coffee Shop without any grumbles, the food is always delicious and service is usually very good. Today however we waited over 10 mins to be given a menu, then another 10 mins for our order to be taken and then another 30 minutes until our drinks arrived. So 50 mins of sitting at an empty table until we got a cup of coffee is totally unacceptable. I had gone with my daughters and grandaughter, one daughter had never been and was looking forward to eating here due to me enthusing how fab the food is. The food arrived 10 mins after the drinks. I do appreciate it was busy but have been many times before when it was as busy and never waited more than 15 mins for drinks and food. It has really put be off visiting again for a while, which is a shame as up until today it was my first go to local cafe.

We called in for a coffee today and fancied sharing a piece of cake. There is a good selection here and they do Gluten free cakes/scones. We were surprised that they had white chocolate and beetroot gluten free cake. Very nice it was too, converted my partner, who can be a little fussy. BTW, it doesn't taste of beetroot.

Visited this lovely cafe one busy Saturday lunch time. Served by a smiling waitress who offered to quickly clear a table for us (which she did). This cafe has the usual fayre on the printed menu but has a really good 'specials' board. My friend ordered beef stroganoff and I ordered BBQ pulled pork, chorizo and bacon burger with homemade coleslaw and chunky chips. Both were really tasty and excellent value for money. We had planned to have a dessert but we were both too full. Making a return visit to test out the cakes! By the way...the coffee is also good.

I have visited a few times before and it has always been pleasant but on a Saturday afternoon when it was half empty, you would have expected much quicker and more efficient service than what we received.

Fantastic farm shop with brilliant deli and butchery as well as a fantastic range of biscuits, cakes and ice creams.

Nice atmosphere, lovely and clean and modern premises. The cafe serve food from their own farm and farm shop and locally produced food. Nice choice on menu and specials board. Lots of delicious looking cakes on display. They use loose leaf tea not tea bags. Extra gravy was served with sandwich and potato wedges which for an Mancunian brought up on chips and gravy was a treat made in heaven. Yummy!

Went for lunch with my mum recently, lovely location and decor however, very over priced. I had the mini breakfast and was amazed to find an extra egg would cost me 90p. Considering the eggs are all farmed on location, was even more shocked when I found out these eggs were not even free range! This is not immediately evident when in the cafe or shop, a lovely local farm shop such as this should be using free range produce and take care in raising their animals.

Popped in to get some freshly produced honey. The local honey they sell it's great and very sweet. It's available in the shop but it sells quickly too.
