Stopped in to check this place out ahead of a month stay in the area. The staff was friendly as were the dogs (😍). I sat outside as it was a beautiful day, the diet coke was refreshing and The Old Crown Special is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I put the salad that came on the side on the sandwich, but the u gradients were fresh and it was perfect for an outdoor meal on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I’m looking forward to coming back! Editing to share about the wings and burger since I’ve been back. The wings are as good as I’ve ever had outside of the US, they’re not breaded, the sauce has some heat- probably a medium level. It also has that slightly buttery finish that wings should have. I would maybe ask for them to keep it in the fryer for an extra minute next time, but that’s just a preference- many people don’t like their wings that way, they were perfectly cooked with some crispiness. AND, they have ranch for dipping! The burger was great, I don’t order a lot of burgers, but this one was well seasoned and hit the spot.

A quaint and accommodating old pub, in a building dating to the 17th century. Five distinct pub areas, including a cozy small room, the regular bar, and a lounge suitable for watching sports or for larger group events (all three of these have fireplaces); also a glass roofed conservatory and lovely outdoor garden areas including Riverside dining when the season is right. Friendly, accommodating staff. Very good food - the burger was excellent - and a pleasant walk from Weybridge high Street, or a nice stroll from Walton on the Thames tow path. Couldn't ask for more than that from a wonderful local place!

Amazing place near to the river

We come here often for a toast after a walk. We love the toast sandwiches. They are fresh and with great ingredients. And chicken wings! We enjoy the service and ambiance. They are always friendly and helpful. Great place and highly recommended! Sander

A traditional pub with a nice conservatory. A good solid Sunday roast. Near the river, so you can go for a walk afterwards.

Very friendly staff. Beautiful location it's one of those old pubs, fire on the go ,just good vibes all round we didn't try the food so can't comment...

The landlord was grumpy and had a lot to drink, refused service for no reason- even after a sensible conversation. Staff understood that the landlord was “often like this”. Staff members seemed fed up with his behaviour. Landlord ruined our evening, calling my best friend a “stupid idiot” right up in her face.

Will go again. Excellent value mi

Characterful pub with lots of outdoor seating including some down by the river. We only stayed for one round of drinks and to use their old-fashioned outhouse urinals.

Lovely riverside pub. Plenty of outdoor seating, some right by the water. The service is friendly and the indoor area looks really inviting and comfortable. Good selection of drinks and a fine compact food menu with all the usual dishes you would expect, from fish and chips to sandwiches. The location is brilliant for walks along the river and there is free parking nearby.

While we were working in this area this was a lovely little traditional pub that we would visit. The locals are friendly and so are the staff. Situated on the river, you have a beautiful view of the water and little boats with plenty of outdoor seating that is also under cover. The beer was spot on, I didn’t have food but it looked nice. You might have a job parking as it’s quite a popular spot.

We stopped for lunch and the sandwiches were delicious and well presented. Friendly staff and a lovely riverside setting.

Good traditional pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Food is good, simple pub food. Cod and steak were cooked perfectly, and my friend enjoyed the sausages.

An excellent riverside pub! Quick service even when busy and very helpful staff. Sat in the sun with a cold pint watching the boats go by, is a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Perfect.

Welcome and anticipated stop for 7 friends walking the river. Arrived in good spirits but were "barked" at by the barman when ordering sandwiches (which were delicious) WHITE OR BROWN THAT'S ALL WE'VE GOT ! Continued on that vein Sullen, unsmiling, cold and off hand. Should not be in a front facing role if he hates it so much. Fair enough not every one has the skill required. While I'm at it loos cud do with an upgrade. Perhaps that cud be a job for him. Hope we beat you at the cricket.

Food was undercooked and probably frozen and microwaved. It came out within 10minutes definitely not fresh, gave it back to be “put in the oven” and it was brought back again within 3 minutes. Overpriced drinks which are flat beers, I’m sure they make the price up as they go Service is poor and served by kids Avoid at all costs

It took us quite a while to find this pub as we had to search for it a day before our booking, however it was nice for it to be near a river plus the river wey. When we got there on the day of the booking which was father's day we were able to sit at our table 20 minutes earlier then we had planned which was nice. We didn't realise that they weren't doing table service so that was a bit annoying as we had to keep going to the bar when we wanted something. When we got the main it was gorgeous, the food was cooked really well and it tasted brilliant. However one of the 4 meals that we had was a little bit cold. When we had finished our mains I had to go to the bar to say we wanted the dessert menu, however they took longer then we had hoped for them to clear the plates. The puddings were really good, they tasted brilliant and were just the right temperature. The only issue with them were that they were a little bit big after having a huge lunch. My only advice would be that they consider having table service properly on offer just in case. The staff were quite good and they seemed to enjoy what they were doing, they were always there if we needed anything and they did bring the food out to the table which is the good part.

Another great pub on the river, part of our preferred water based pub crawl route now! Lovely beer garden with a small area to tie up a boat, burgers were delicious, service with a smile, and doggo friendly. Can't wait to go back.

I have never been here or will ever go there after own staff set fire to there own house or living quarters - staff selling and taking drugs.

What a disgrace. If you want to be treated like you don't deserve their disgusting pub then eat or drink here. The food is absolutely awful not to mention their over priced drinks. Please do not waste your time and money here. Not only will you feel unwelcome but their owners will go out of their way to make your experience unpleasant. Intimidation is the name of the game and will leave you feeling like you made the biggest mistake entering this establishment. Unhygienic and dirty. Eating or drinking here is more then a hazard! Staff are rude and clearly wish you were not there. A facelift would be a waste.... demolition is a must. Don't support these rude and money hungry owners that do not value their patrons!

I don't leave reviews often but this place is so BAD that I had to make sure that public knew about my terrible experience. Staff are rude and clearly they get it from the management and owners. Overpriced and the pub is a dump. It stinks of urine and dirty animals. I would not eat or drink ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE! please do yourself a favour and avoid this OLD DISGUSTING CROWN @ all costs!

Not hygienic, Not friendly, Run down, poor cleanliness, a disgrace, do not drink, eat food or consume liquids here, the FSA has been notified to inspect.

No music, no open fire, very dilapidated and in desperate need of a renovation, smells damp, this pub seems to attract strange characters, the food is over priced and made us sick and ruined our next day, not returning with friends and family.

£6.30 for a Guinness which was poured to brim in one go. The head collapsed instantly and it tasted bad. Then their dog started barking at me like I was an intruder. I will not be returning.

Its a lovely old fashioned pub, food and everything good. Just lacking the extra mile thing to make it stand out from the crowd.

Love this place. Simple food served well. Great little garden on the river. Come here a lot on my bike, which can be brought down into the garden area. Decent beer and great location. Give it a go. Update : this has been a fab place for years. It's high standards are set by the super friendly owners who choose their staff well. Just had one of the all time best Sunday roasts. The beef was as close to perfection as it comes. Guinness is now the best within a 5 mile radius. No idea how they maintain the overall quality as such reasonable prices.

I've heard good things about this and been meaning to go for ages. Today we managed it. I don't think it's insulting to say it's an old fashioned pub. It wasn't what I was expecting, it wasn't hip with pop music and a theme. It was just a good old fashioned pub. The menu was a laminated A4 sheet of paper and that's where old fashioned ends. The food is excellent. I had a chicken burger, it was possibly the nicest chicken burger ever, not a breadcrumb in sight, it was zingy with thyme and herbs, too much rocket ( but only because I don't like rocket!) My friend opted for an omelette, swapping the ham for mushrooms, and she ate the whole thing, it's been a long time since I've seen her clear her plate. We rested then moved onto pud! A very nice brownie with very nice ice cream, and a strudel with ice cream. Again, 2 cleared plates. 2 very happy eaters who will be back again.

Great authentic old English pub in Weybridge. Got frontage and access to the river Wey during summer too. Not amazing for kids.

We were treated really poorly. Ordered three coffees with alcoholic beverages and were scorned by who I assume is the manager. She loudly entered the kitchen to mock us with her staff and was extremely rude when bringing them over. They are obviously not keen on new business!

I haven't been to this pub in ages but it hasn't changed, still wonderful!!! Great staff, great food and a first class pub.

Visited on a Friday evening, pub was busy, service not al all good. Food was disappointing, steak and kidney pie turned out to be steak and mushroom and Hp sauce was a year out of date, when I pointed it out to staff member she just grinned and walked off, didn’t bother with desert. Don’t think we will be returning

For those who want that poorly lit, comfortable, homey bar feeling. This is it. Doesn’t try to be sophisticated and doesn’t need to be. Just a relaxing atmosphere with a solid drink selection and quality made bar food.

Unfortunately the real experience didn't measure up to their website. A real disappointment. The visit started off well but rapidly declined. The food was generous and exceptable. However, 2 dogs appeared within the eating area and although we are dog friendly they were left to their own devices. No owners appearing.Eventually discovered they were the Landlords dogs and left to roam amongst the tables while customers eating. Later saw staff clearing up from the floor something that one of the dogs had left behind. Absolutely disgusting to see this in a food area. Upon leaving to pay the bill we were not offered a breakdown bill only a bit of paper with no detail. Queried that they did not offer a detailed bill and told 'we are old fashioned'. I would avoid at all costs.

Beware this pub. The website version is not the reality. On the plus side the food was acceptable although the menu was very limited. The negatives were the pub dogs that were allowed to roam under our table and nose into the women's handbags. A neighbouring table drew the manager's attention to a dog having urinated (or worse?) on the restaurant carpet. No wonder their Food Hygiene Rating is dated 2013 - nine years out of date. When we went to pay we were presented with the amount but no itemised bill. Then when we did ask they claimed they didn't have the technology to produce a single bill and offered two separate handwritten notes. We will not be returning any time soon ... and probably forever. I am obliged to give one star but it doesn't deserve even that.

After passing this Pub so many times we decided to pay a visit . So glad we did lovely setting right on the River ..The staff were very friendly & food excellent already set to return & introduce several friends to The Old Crown .

If no stars were an option I would give none. Went today for a family lunch and ordered a large amount of food. The price they were charging we were expecting more than a handful of dried over cooked chips with a tiny tough steak for £18 each. When I queried the price and the food quality and portion they offered my money back after I sent it back to the kitchen. The chef then came out to where we were seated and said the manager had called and demanded we give the money back and don’t come back as we were no longer welcome there. The chef then told us the manager cut the food portion and put the prices up and it’s “embarrassing” as the chef said. Absolutely disgusted with how we were treated and the manager didn’t even come and speak to us themselves they sent someone else to do their dirty work. Mark and Yvonne need to close the pub if they can’t afford to run it how they advertise it “quality food” - I wouldn’t of even fed my dog the food we were given. Such a shame.

We go here quite often. The food is good and the staff are polite. They've got seating right outside overlooking the river below. Last visit we saw a little water snake chilling.

Nice pub, nice Riverside garden. Some idiot blocked the car park so couldn't get the car out when leaving. Not the pubs fault I know.

I sat at the bar on Sunday waiting to be served. A group of about eight locals crowded around one end of the bar and indicated to the bar staff to serve me next. I also indicated that a lady further along the bar was before me. I wish I’d not been so generous as after that the staff focused entirely on the local crowd and after ten minutes I gave up and we went elsewhere. There were around five people milling around behind the bar but seemingly only one was capable of pulling a pint, other than a boy of around ten years old who pulled a pint for one of the locals!!!

Drove passed here a few times and didn't really see any appeal for me, then one day the sun comes out and boooom! The old crown totally makes sense. I had no idea about the amazing spaces they have. The tent out the front, then the small garden down the steps which if you have been there a while already makes it seem like another world. I think the views you get (although short) are something people really need to try. This is a PROPER PUB and I can't say that enough. Loved it. It even smells like a proper pub 🤣 will definitely return even if its just to see if those Banana trees actually give fruit 😅

Great little pub, lovely outdoor space and good array of drinks. Can get busy in the little bar but it’s very friendly.

Found after a Google search by a friend as a suitable venue for a large family group (including two small children) to meet up for a meal; none of us had ever been there before, and we were all seriously impressed. We found a quiet corner indoors and ordered in relays; nothing was too much trouble for the management and staff and they looked after us all beautifully. Our food, too, was excellent - extremely tasty and such large portions (even though we were expecting relatively small snacks) that we didn't need to eat another meal during the day. We were especially impressed by how quietly and efficiently the children's needs were accommodated; those with small people in the group are sometimes made to feel like pariahs in catering establishments, but not this one - their only restriction was that the kids not run about at all, which ours were not inclined (or in one case able) to do anyway. On the whole it would be very difficult to find fault with The Old Crown, and we can understand why it seems to be so popular!

Clean, hygeinic, large sitting area inside a very beautiful old Tudor building, very nice large outdoor seating looking over the Thames, very good beers and very nice staff. Excellent

Yvonne and Mark run a great pub for the over 30s. The kids go across the road to the Minnow and drink lager while the beer lovers come in here for the perfectly kept ales. A simple menu of pub classics such as cod and chips, ham, steak and curry. Always well cooked and huge portions especially if you have the fish. If you haven't visited yet give it a go.

This is a really. Great guvnor whos dad owned it before him. Well kept widec range of beers, proper pub food, a big welcome. Home made sausage rolls are epic. Weybridge best pub. Puts the gastro bollox opposite to shame.

So incredibly over priced it’s a joke £3.50 for a lime and soda while I watched the bartender use a 50p bottle of soda that was also flat. I have never paid more than £2 for this drink. Even in London I’ve got the drink for 50p, £1.50 or £2.50 max. £3.50 and £3.50 for a coke….so £7 for two soft drinks!!!! Absolute joke. I purposely get a lime and soda as a cheap alternative to other soft drinks. I will never be visiting again. Good location but a grubby looking pub on the inside yet charge extortionate amounts.

I like the Old Crown which is a traditional pub with friendly bar staff. The food is quite expensive but it has a nice little garden, a Riverside area, and a conservatory, which is very pleasant.
