Excellent quality and value for lunch. Lots of options for kids and a very friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend (especially for the lunchtime offer!). Steak sandwich and club sandwiches were tasty and kids burgers were great value.

Good pub. Good service. Good beer. I didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food. There are bus stops nearby for the 555 bus that runs hourly, which can get you to Walton on Thames station in 10 minutes.

Went on a Tuesday night, great rack of ribs, even though it was busy service and staff were great, would defiantly recommend

So bearing in mind I hadn't been here for 20 plus years of course it has changed. But people there are friendly and smile didn't eat but menu was varied for kids to. Brilliant

All 6 of us had the roast dinner 4 lamb, 1beef, and 1 pork they were all very big and tasty but after being served our food and eating it our plates were left on our table, noone at any point come to clear them away until one of us took some of the plates up to them, at that point someone rushed over and took over. We weren't asked if anyone wanted a pud, only one person did so we had to try and get someone's attention to order it. Its a real shame as the food was lovely and it was my mums 89th birthday

brought my 2 little sisters here today for food, service was lovely and one of the bar team returned one of their water bottles that we’d left outside to us which was much appreciated ! food was very nice, got 3 small plates and kids got the tenders and the pizza. she didn’t like the pizza but all the rest was amazing 😊 will be back soon

We came for the first time today with friends and kids for a Sunday roast.We sent an enquiry for a table reservation at 2 pm ,at 1:58, our booking was cancelled, and we were already there after 20min walking. The owner was almost annoyed when I was trying to explain what happened. He gave us a table (there were many free tables inside), but he told us we couldn't order the roasts because we haven't booked the day before( ?!!),fair enough!!!We ordered food and drinks ...we didn't wait much but we had to ask for cutlery and tissues and straws for the kids.Food was ok...but we didn't like the attitude and the not friendly welcome !!!o We Probably won't come back again...

Horrendous burgers! Stale and dry bun (why not use brioche?) meat was clearly pre-frozen, and burger came burnt and dry. Meal did not even come with coleslaw, very disappointing. My child couldn’t eat the kids burger at all as the “taste was bad”, I’m guessing because it was burnt too. Will not be returning.

Nice cuisine, especially when you consider that we are talking about a pub in the country and not in the city center. Nice music too! The rib eye is very good, and the churros are perfect! It is good to make a reservation in advance..

Spent the night in the hotel. Room was great. Overlooked the river. Had all sky channels Inc sports. Would highly recommend staying

Went to the royal George for a birthday Sunday lunch. The food there was really, good and you got plenty of it. The costume service was great too, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great and the seating area was comfortable. Very family friendly, definitely going back again, and definitely worth a recommendation. Thank you The Royal George for a good experience.

Came for lunch and had high hopes as was recommended for good food but unfortunately food was a real letdown, pretty sure the fish finger sandwich was just birdseye fish fingers with shop bought tartar and margarine on bread.. the burger buns were flakey and stale and burgers pretty flavourless 😢 Sadly wouldn’t return for the food. Staff were friendly & it was very reasonably priced though so if you’re looking for a cheap meal it’s one to try.

The George became our local 1.5 years ago when we moved round the corner. This is the perfect place to unwind after a hard days work or chill out at the weekend. We lovel the cosy feel of this recently rennovated pub which still keeps a traditional vibe. Recently we held our engagement drinks here and the manager Steve went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect evening. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Accidentally drove past this pub one day, never knew it was there. Been there twice since and had food both times. Really great food and very well priced. Keep up the great work.

The recent refurb has made the second room much nicer and a great place to watch sport. There are loads of outdoor seats at the front and a covered area with a TV out the back. A good selection of drinks with a focus on the owners local brewery Big Smoke.

Lovely little local with great personality. The beer garden is heated so perfect for winter.

Amazing food, friendly staff, highly recommended

Hadn't been for a while but had a really nice meal with family and friends. Varied menu, good stock of beers and lots of choice in outside seating.

Great selection of beers, although the range lacks a proper fruity east coast IPA. Food good, the cold meat selection on our starter was excellent. Helpful staff. Recommended for a visit for sure!

Had lunch at the George, the food was fab (chicken bap and chips), good value and were full at the end of it. Service was really good and the beers went down well to go with it.

Lovely atmosphere and great food.

Much improved after the refit. Clean and welcoming inside and a large number of tables outside ,front and back garden. The choice of drinks and (especially) ales is unusual and wide. The food was good and no complaints (well, 1 tip could be to add some parmesan to the Caesar salad, if you were fussy). The chicken tikka burger is highly recommended. We had a great time there and will be back soon!

Went for the first time after the refurbishment for Steak Thursday. Food was delicious, well seasoned, good portion and reasonably priced. Desserts were lovely too. Drinks are reasonable as well. Service was good, everyone was friendly, food arrived quickly and plates were also cleared quickly. It was busy so I was glad I booked a table. Will definitely go back.

Note that the Royal George is now a Big Smoke pub and no longer has a Thai food restaurant within. Visited end of May Bank Holiday Monday to see what the pub is like after several months of being shut for the much anticipated revamp and refurb. It's pretty much the same pub layout, with a lick of paint and some more beers on offer. Unfortunately, 1830 for dinner was evidently a little too late to have what we wanted from the already fairly limited menu. Around 10-15mins after ordering, we were then told two of the dishes we ordered were no longer available. Disappointing, but not the end of the world. I won't comment on the food as it's not what I wanted, and ended up with something that simply filled a hole. All ordering must be done at the bar, and you have to get your own cutlery etc which was cumbersome as I had to get the desired cutlery from several table 'baskets'. There was quite a few staff on and a couple of them - including the girl who gave us the bad news about the food order - were really friendly and attentive. One of the chaps (clearly experienced, but with a too-cool-for-school air) was sub-par; served me a pint that was a fair bit short and seemed put out when I asked him to top it up. That was after I was stood at the bar for a minute or so waiting whilst the only two bar staff at the time stood idly chatting to someone. Overall, first impressions are that the place has actually taken a step backwards, but perhaps a lot of this is simply teething issues whilst certain issues are ironed out. I won't be rushing back though and will stick to the other pubs in the area. All the Big Smoke hype has been a tad anti-climactic for me.

Sadly disappointed by zero (not even cold) welcome, poor service and no atmosphere. Shame, as I'd hoped the new Royal George would be at least on par with days gone by.

Sign suggests it is a Young's pub but hasn't been for more than 4 years ...on the day I popped it was busy with a mix of drinkers and family tables. I had an excellent pint of Harveys. Fuller's pride was also available. Sat outside in a large front beer garden with loads of tables. Well worth a visit. They serve food but didn't eat so can't comment....update as of May 2023 seems to be closed for refurb ...

Great opening night. Very busy. The food and the beer kept flowing. We had a great evening. Welll done to all the staff. Great addition to Hersham

Full of flies from where they buried the Thai cook underneath the Floorboards. Also the Goth behind the bar kept moaning she was only helping out and she normally works at the flintgate. Kicked us out 15 mins early so she could read her manga comics

Such a shame. This pub has lot of potential being in the area it is. However, it is need of a total revamp. Staff are friendly but sadly that’s the only positive. The roast dinner is pretty awful and limited, the interior is very tired and in massive need of a refurb. Hopefully Big Smoke will come with a massive injection of money which this place needs.

Pub has recently changed hands to become a big smoke brewery bar. Staff are really friendly, looking forward to coming back, hopefully with a few more interesting beers available for purchase!

You can tell the pub is still in transition. The Limited menu is good. The burger was tasty however we ordered two. My partners was well balanced and didn't drop much but mone was quite greesy. Too much sauce on the bottom and so when eating created a mess on the plate. Can't wait to see where they get to in a few months time.

August 22 update.... Sorry Royal George, but your rating now drops to just 2 stars. you still Always have a draught beer ,, the Pride was particularly good the other day, but what a disaster with the food.....NO MORE MR THAI 😢😢 !! The basic pub snack menu you now offer in its place is both very limited AND VERY EXPENSIVE, remember you are a pub! BEFORE Always a selection of popular Draught Beers available. Small, but covered outside area and parking at the back, beer garden at front. Thai food in restaurant has been of reliably good quality since started visiting several years ago.

The waiting time is a bit long... real thai food but there's better choices within Surrey.

Really lovely Thai meal at the Royal George pub in Hersham Surrey. Great little pub, excellent service, reasonably priced menu, highly recommend this place. Order drinks yourself at the bar, waiter/waitress table service for food.

Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Solid Thai food with authentic Thai dishes and not just the westernised dishes. Had a lot to choose from which would cater to the many, probably why it's contributed to their popularity. Would recommend the fried fish with tamarind sauce!

Great local pub, good beer on tap and awesome local live music. Outside area is spacious and very well maintained. Highly recommended!

Tasty food and very quiet atmosphere

Very friendly bar staff, spotlessly clean toilets, excellent Thai Kitchen in the evenings, good outside area under cover for smokers and plenty of outside tables, large car park, two bars - one for darts and pool and the lounge bar. Tables placed so that you are not crowded by others. Quiet for conversation, Ie., no music playing all the time.

Good service and well kept beer

I recently came here for a meal with my Dad who lives locally. We have been here before, my Dads quiet pre wedding get together of friends and family a few years ago. The service is still as impeccable now as it was then. Beautiful range of wines and the Thai food is stunning. I have been to Thailand and experienced first hand how fresh and tasty the flavours are. This meal brought me back to those warm relaxing days! The chef came out and asked how our meal was, he is very friendly and attentive. The bar staff were friendly and efficient, giving advice on the beers and wines. Wonderful atmosphere would definitely recommend.

First time at The Royal George. Bar orders in the front garden taken well by nice staff. I though hospitality needed a boost but Second round taken by (even behind a mask) chap in grey trousers who was unwelcoming and unhelpful. Shame as so much work had been done here.

Great Pub, the new manager was really friendly. Fresh new look was nice, bathrooms clean and nice selection of brews.

Very poor. My friend called up to reserve a table last night and we were told that there was no need to book and that there were plenty of tables. We arrived 20 minutes after calling and were then told there were no tables after just having paid for an Uber to get there. The location of the pub meant that we couldn’t just walk to another pub in hopes of a table, so this left us feeling pretty annoyed. Fortunately after 10 mins of waiting, a couple of chaps waved us down and gave us their table as they were leaving. The young lad on the door said that it was okay for us to sit there. Water under the bridge, we didn’t wait too long for a table and we were happy to drink there so happy days... or so we thought. We were then approached by an older women with short blond hair who worked there, who was extremely rude to me and my friends. She told us that we had upset her colleague, that it wasn’t on and that we were very rude when all we did was explain what had happened. Let me tell you. We all have experience in customer service, we know how these things go, we were not rude in the slightest. I’m 24 years old and I manage a pub myself. We then went back up to the young lad to apologise if we came across as rude and asked if we had upset him to which he replied “no”. So this woman, whoever she is, rather than coming over and apologising for the table mix-up and perhaps offering the first round on them, as you probably should do as a manager. Came over to our table to cause a problem out of nothing and somehow we ended up apologising to them!! Needless to say, we left without having ordered any drinks after we were spoken to so rudely. This woman is not fit to work in hospitality at all, and should be working in the kitchen as a KP or something far, far away from customers. Absolutely clueless. Would score less 1 star if I could.

We were drawn in by the lovely garden and were not disappointed. A good selection of beers, including Ranmore, yum yum. The staff were busy, but always polite. A good choice of Thai dishes too, yum yum again.
