Since when is a magnum £3.50!!! Come on that is outrageous. Ice lollies just plain lemonade ones £2.50 each!! Three of four kids and you're broke!

Yet another wonderful experience at the old barracks. Can't recommend this place highly enough to parents - and anyone who loves delicious fluffy pancakes and well cooked fry ups! Just simple things like the toy cars in the back garden and the trampoline brought so much joy to our little boy. We could've stayed there all day. Wonderful staff, beautiful surroundings, good value - can't ask for anything more. Thanks guys!

Fantastic place for breakfasts , the best burgers on the island and pizzas all home made. Wonderfully welcoming and friendly staff. Dog friendly too. Inside or outside dining with toys and a trampoline to keep the children occupied.

We found this place so friendly and the staff were so efficient, the coffee was lovely and dogs are made to feel welcome will definitely be back soon.

Absolutely terrible. Came for a family birthday. Beer was awful. No pint glasses. The two staff spent the whole time moaning about the lack of staff to each other whilst serving. Ran out of toilet roll! Couldn’t order a hot dog as they had no rolls. Embarrassing. Won’t be returning

As a local our group visit the cafe a lot due to it being a brilliant location to go with so many kids as their secure garden and toy supply is great. This time round there was a large group of us and the service was just carnage. All staff members seemed to be very young and none could cope with the high pressure of a busy cafe and there was no one to take charge of the situation. I saw someone had returned a cappuccino because there was no coffee in it. I ordered an iced latte, which whilst I was waiting saw the stressed bar staff frantically run around looking for ice which they didn’t end up having so she smashed up what was left in the ice bucket for my drink before calling all ice drinks off. My partner asked for a bottle of water, but as the fridge wasn’t restocked and the ice was off he had to have a warm one. When it came to food, I don’t know what the chef was doing but seemed to just be jumping between checks and sending out what they fancied rather than sticking to one check a time. Totally disjointed when the main food ordered was bacon and/or sausage baps (not complicated). All the simple breakfast food came out to the group scattered over an hour and a half period with orders still coming out wrong and items missing. Plus there was no ketchup. Such a shame because we have always liked the food and location they just need to invest money in some adult staff to take charge and structure and do some ordering as well as structure from the chef in the kitchen.

Came here today, what a great day we had played mini gold which was lovely and well kept, followed by a lovely lunch in The Old Barracks in which we had pizzas, crab on chips, lasagne and kids meals which were excellent sizes for the price and delicious. after our lunch the children were playing in the back garden with all of the lovely toys when I got stung by a wasp and without any hesitation a lovely member of staff came out give us some vinegar and to draw the sting out and was very caring and helpful I think her name was Evie. Thank so much Evie.

My family and I came to The Old Barracks today for lunch, we all had such a great time. The staff were great and very efficient. The food was delicious, good value for money and came out faster than most places. We had burgers, pizzas and Mac and cheese all our meals was spot on. They have a lovely safe back garden which has lots of lovely toys for kids to play with and a huge trampoline with the kids had a good hours worth of fun on. Best place we have been to on the island. The outdoor area is pretty, and we called for hot drinks at around 4ish, so the place wasn’t very busy. A helpful young member of staff sorted us out with the pitch and putt, and was polite. Unfortunately the service for coffee and tea was awful. The youngster serving the drinks kept people waiting while she was preoccupied with taking details from other teenagers applying for jobs there. I had to ask twice for a jug of milk to go with a cup of tea. (Which was a teabag dumped into a cup of lukewarm water - yuck!) Despite the place being in very nice surroundings, I’d have no wish to visit there again for refreshments.

This place used to be great when i was a kid unfortunately now it seems to be run by kids and the site itself and what they serve has gone down hill. The front garden's were a thing of beauty now it looks like a creche with unemptied tables and kids toys everywhere along with the thousands of wasps and birds who seem to take great joy in feasting and making a mess of any left overs. We arrived at 1pm and it wasn't busy by any means so ordered our drinks and some sandwiches, the drinks we had straight away but we had to wait 55 minutes for a cheese baguette and a single portion of chips which is just not expectable. What a shame just one to avoid unless you have 2-4 year olds and you want to let them run amok whilst waiting what seemed like forever for the most basic of foods.

Frequently stop off here for coffees/lunch as a very convenient spot and food reasonable. However, on our recent visit due to the inclement weather we had to sit inside which was no problem except for the behaviour of the dog owners. A dog friendly cafe which is fine but horrified to see the table behind us had a dog actually sitting in the middle of the table, being fed tidbits. The waitresses took no notice of it at all and continued serving around it. On visiting the serving bar, another dog on a long lead was tripping people up and was being fed from the owner's plate. Again nothing done. On the second visit to the serving bar four dogs were having an extremely loud and excited interaction with each other - inside the cafe, scaring some of the children and adults waiting at the bar and also waiting to enter the cafe. I noticed one family decide not to enter. Whilst this is a lovely place to visit, enjoy a coffee or snack, I feel customers should be requested to keep their dogs under proper control and the staff should ensure NO dogs on tables or being fed from tables if only for the sake of hygiene.

The Old Barracks is one of our go to places when visiting the island. The food is always well priced, with a good selection of pizzas (in this occasion we tried the goats cheese, walnut and honey pizza, which I would fully recommend). The drink selection, although limited is also well priced - with a glass of wine being around the £5 mark at the time of review. Seating is always plentiful, either inside or outside, and our kids appreciate the selection of toys in the garden to entertain themselves. Yes, it can look a little "ropey", but I prefer the term "humble" - and very much appreciate that they are in an early stage of starting and running their business. Well worth a visit for a quick drink or bite with the kids.

We have been coming here for quite a few years and have always loved it and had good service and never had problems this early in the season. We went 3times while on the island and only managed to eat once ! Both other times we were turned away the first time as they had a big order just before we turned up but when we walked back passed other customers had menus and the other time they said the chef had gone home and they don’t serve food late on a Monday. Very disappointed as this is normally a favourite of ours and we visit a couple of times during our holiday. Such a shame as the pizzas are so nice

As a local living near the Old Barracks we supported them all through Covid and had deliveries. Since then have tried to order take aways from them on five occasions and they have never been able to supply us with food. To busy, run out of food etc etc Last week we ordered 7 meals for collection and a short while later they rang back and said they could not provide our order as they have a booked table and would run out of food! Very amateur operation and we have given up and won’t deal with them or recommend them (which we have) again.

Shame as I did really like it here had great burger before went back with my partner to get some lunch I ordered a burger which was average this time round. My partner ordered a burger she was then told they had ran out so she got a hot dog for £6 yes SIX pounds and this is what she got??(see picture) An absolute rip off. My burger also arrived over 5 minutes after my partners hot dog which was cold by the time mine turned up. won’t be going back there and wouldn’t recommend. Try dell cafe instead

Only found this restaurant by accident and returned quite quickly as so pleasant to sit outside and watch the world go by. Excellent service, delicious pizzas and pleasant young men keeping the tables sanitised and clean. Definitely worth a visit.
