We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Dined here on a Friday night as we where staying on the park for a few nights over Easter. The menu looked good and very inviting. We ordered a starter, two mains and two kids meals. Unfortunately we waited almost an hour and a half for the food to turn up despite asking numerous times where it was as the kids where now really hungry. (I did note other people where also waiting on slow service too). Our food arrived with a simple sorry for your wait with no real explanation. The food itself other than the prawn starter was of extremely poor quality and all pre frozen (even the starter) The menu didn’t state anything was fresh, but it stated the food they served was good for your soul. I’m not sure who’s written that, but it very much isn’t. We ate it as we where starving and weren’t prepared to wait another hour for the cook to figure out how to microwave us some more frozen burgers. The kids meals where equally terrible, our 7 year old daughter even said the food was yucky and our son didn’t touch his pepperoni pizza which again was the sort of quality you get from Asda’s basic isle (if not worse!) All of that cost us £57.80 with a capri sun for one of the kids (all paid up front at the bar!). Working back the prices the capri sun cost in excess of £3 too! Speaking of drinks prices, two small lemonades for the kids cost around £7, day light robbery! I noted a lot the clientele in the bar had their ‘member cards’ which I can only assume brings the drinks prices back down to normal as opposed to inner city London prices. The bar staff where extremely busy on the night and with all the regular members and staff who had clocked off from reception swarming around the bar I didn’t fancy kicking up a fuss. I followed it up with the customer care manager who told me she had made the bar manager aware of the issues and I would have to speak to her. I spoke to her a day or so later and explained why I was unhappy. She offered us a round of drinks and some kids puddings. I politely declined and asked for some sort of refund to makeup for the poor quality food. She gave me the kids meals back, which wasn’t exactly the result I wanted but at least it was better than nothing. Hopefully my honest review here makes them rethink the food they are serving up to customers and maybe drop some of the drinks prices down a little for non park members. I can’t be the only person who thinks £15.25 for a gourmet (frozen) lamb burger and some frozen chips is extortionate. Putting a dry frozen burger on a ciabatta bun doesn’t make it gourmet. All in all a pretty bad experience. Food 1* Service 2* Value for money 0*

A great setting for all seasons. Snug and cosy in the winter, with the log burner adding to the atmosphere. In the summer the perfect patio to enjoy a refreshing range of drinks, whilst taking in the stunning views across to the malverns. Top this off with freshly cooked food, and I think you'll struggle to find a better setting.

Beautiful scenic spot, absolutely stunning. Dog friendly. Food was amazing and atmosphere good too. Boat was running as water was too high but didn’t matter to us!

A textbook experience from the moment we entered this charmingly characterful pub restaurant. The staff were attentive from the beginning to the end, polite & friendly. Our meals were well cooked & delicious & we ended with a tea & coffee; my coffee was the best I've experienced in a long time! We shall certainly return quite soon!

Absolutely shocking Saturday lunch experience. Arrived mid lunch time to an empty pub and miserable, unwelcoming, inconvenienced bar maid. All the ale was off. Most of the specials weren’t on so ordered the wild boar hot dog with a salad. It arrived in a stale, cremated smart price bun. The actual hot dog had been oven cooked until it was blackened, it looked like it had been heated up multiple times. Diced, undercooked onions. The meal arrived with a huge portion of oven chips (frozen, undercooked), no salad. Tried mentioning this to the waitress but she’d stormed off. Honestly, the worst paid meal I’ve ever had. Didn’t finish, left and won’t ever be back. Now I understand why the place was empty. The place has so much potential. Hopefully it goes bust and is bought by someone that understands good hospitality.

I arranged a lunch here for my walking group of 40. The meals were excellent and served by friendly staff. It was a most enjoyable occasion.
