The oaks ramsbottom in Bury

Landlady is really aggressive, I was venting about my ex husband not putting a grave stone on my son's grave, the landlady body slammed me, I got in her face a bit, then thought leave it n go, she then decided to chase after me and shove me in the back all on CCTV by the way, i floored her n she rang the police, i would'nt recommend this pub to my worst enemy

Great location, prices very reasonable in fact cheaper than other places , family run pub warm atmosphere plenty of seating and good choice of beers , sport was awesome as there is a large screen . Very clean and very friendly . Especially the old chap think he the grandad harry lovely guy .

I have been drinking in Ramsbottom for 42 years. I only go out twice a month. I wasn't allowed in The Oaks as they said i was drunk and couldn't speak? Time roughly about 7.45. Stacey is barring all the locals and seems to be on some sort of power trip. She shouts swears and spends more time smoking out the back instead instead of being behind the bar. I'm 💯 positive that you have to wash your hands after smoking. Good bye Stacey because your not going to last with an attitude like that. Also i didn't write the other 2 reviews. I am definitely not good at poetry.

Amazing pub, great atmosphere and amazing staff , welcoming and warmly inside, staff do great customer service and smells clean. They have a lovely english bulldog and great kids who love to play games and interact with locals , Locals love it alot go in day to day they have said and landlord and landlady are sweet and take care of there customers. Would definitely recommend this for families and friends on nights out or during the day.

Well what can I say family run pub fantastic service stacey the land lady is so helpful and down to earth what ever u need she is there grat advice nothing to small for her and her family iv hared nothing but grate comments about the pub looking forward to the food wen it comes which iv been told will be soon

I can't believe a pub has gone downhill so much. Don't do food anymore and the woman behind the bar was so rude. Locals said she's landlady and is always like that.

I made a mistake after a long day, and i was sure i had paid with a bigger note than i got change for. I wasn't flustered until they were nasty to me. I could have just checked my wallet again and seen the larger note in there. I thought it had been all i had on me. If i was treated decently like i was treating them, the whole scene would have been avoided where i was trying to explain my certainty. Would have preferred them not being nasty to me when they told me i used a smaller bill, so i would have naturally listened to the fact as stated and not just responded to the sneery treatment with a sense of injustice. Otherwise would have been a great place to write poetry. I busted out three poems in fifteen minutes that i was happy with. Didn't even finish half my beer. Now i am banned for being confused.

Called in for a quick pint. The lady behind the bar is very friendly, offered me a taste of the beer I was thinking of ordering, then brought it to my table when it was ready. Great ambience in the pub, toilets are super clean, highly recommended

Lovely pub with very nice staff, stopped by to watch the rugby. Would certainly be a great place if they did food but very nicely offered to let us buy from the local chippy and eat in the pub.

Got told no on the door because I was under 25. Since when was that a thing? Discrimination against young people!!!

I went here for a spot to write poetry after a very very long week amidst the final week of a harrowing divorce from a domestic violence situation. I was so exhausted I could have sworn that I gave them a 10-pound note for my beer when I actually gave them a five pound note which I didn't realize until I got home, which was a few blocks away. It was my first time here and they treated me like I was trying to rob them. They were a bit nasty if they had been more polite it would have been a much easier situation. And I would have quickly found the 10-pound note that I still had in my pocket. The ambience was fantastic and I was able to belt out three or four poems in the 1/3 of a beer that I did drink there. I am just completely unimpressed with the service.

Menu good enough for a pub Draft ale perfection personified loved it. Landlady very welcoming and happy/friendly . Two large but placid dogs seen in the bar area. Menu not tasted but less expensive imo than the Railway. I’d return next time for food and ale.definitely n

We called in here a couple of days ago. We had a meal (steak in ale pie and Chicken in stilton cream and mushroom sauce) and it was to die for . The food came in ample portions and was homemade, definately value for money. They have 2 gorgeous friendly dogs who like to come and say hello. Our Jack Russell was made to feel welcome and given treats. All in all a great pub to visit with lovely landlord and landlady who are friendly and welcoming.

Lovely little bar on the main street. We stopped here for a bite to eat and a drink. Although it was evening only the lunch menu was available so we both chose a cold sandwich and chips which we great. Well filled and good amount of chips! Shame for them there wasn't more people in there but the owner was so nice and to time to talk to us and show us the 2 gorgeous dogs they have there, Casper and Atari. Would definitely call in there again if we are in the area 👏

A nice traditional pub with good beer and food.

Welcoming pub, great food and the staff made a coach load of footie supporters very welcome with free food if you wanted. We chose off the menu and tried our first Rag pudding! Very tasty and very generous portions. Excellent, can highly recommend.

Never been there before called in because it started raining, friendly service, cosy atmosphere, one of the rooms had games on the tables cards etc, there was one small games machine table with 6 free retro video games, Pac-man, Space Invaders etc. I will call in again.

New to area and popped in on Saturday for good and drinks were made To feel really welcome and met the dogs 😂 the food was really nice and good value

This is a good, traditional pub, with simple but very tasty food and a range of well-kept beer. Food portions are on the generous side. It is dog-friendly, and two large dogs are 'on the staff'. Service was first class and friendly, we were made to feel welcome. The prices are very reasonable. This is a pub that deserves to be better-known.

The pub itself is very traditional and children friendly with lots of games to play with even for big kids as well !! Good selection of beers on offer at reasonable price, New spring menu had enough choices and again reasonable priced and good portion and quality. Service at the bar and for food was spot on.

There were 7 of us and we turned up to friendly inclusive pub, staff very helpful and the service was spot on. We all enjoyed our food immensely, they had an extensive menu with various options for all individuals. One of us just fancied an egg and cress sarnie which was not on the menu, no problem, they did it with no issue. Decent prices with decent beers to. A good list of bar games and plenty going on. Toilets spotless to. A great family friendly pub which we went to twice.

It's a shame. The pub is pretty. The staff are ok. It just feels badly managed.

Only been 3 times twice for a drink and then I popped in with my friend on Sat and had a meal. Couldn't fault the meal at all and price was so inexpensive and better than meals which I have paid more than double that price. Lovely friendly staff and the dogs which greet you as you go in are gorgeous 😍 Also popped in yesterday for a pint with my son and had a game of Jenga, love it

Really friendly, decent and quirky pub! All the staff are lovely and every table has a board game on them. Casper and Atari (the doggies) are very welcoming when you walk through the door and make you feel right at home! Overall my favourite pub right in the town centre! 👍

We walked in and ordered the drinks and then it hit us the horrendous smell of dogs. Whilst I accept it said dog friendly the smell was awful. I have been and will continue to enter establishements that cater fir dogs but this was too far

Visited last Friday afternoon and was well impressed with the lovely atmosphere and the very distinctive lighting in the pub. Very well staffed with a good food menu and a good selection of beers 🍻.

Had a trip to Rammie today just for a run out. Tried this place because it looked welcoming. Lovely cheese and onion pie for me and a cracker of a rag pudding for my wife. Pint of bitter - Thwaites and a diet coke £17.90 and we’ll worth the price. Nice place, friendly staff and dog friendly, we don’t have a dog, but, it’s a nice thing I have always thought. We’ll worth a visit.

We had a really enjoyable experience at The Oaks. It was the first time we had eaten there and the food was delicious. The chef was accommodating in explaining the gluten free options and the portions were very generous. We will definitely eat here again!

Worked away for 2 weeks and used the Oaks every night for my evening meal and a few beers all while getting to enjoy the Euros. Had a different meal every night and was not disappointed by anything. Chicken curry and rag pudding just 2 of the home made meals I had and both where fantastic. I ate here 8 times in the 2 weeks, all very affordable in price. This is a family run pub and you can see that is the service provided, pride taken in the food dishes and waiter service with a meaningful smile. The locals are great too, ever so friendly and made us feel like we where locals, often asking if I will be in tomorrow and they will see me then. If I could pick everything about this place up and move it to my local area I would. I will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Thank you to all at The Oaks for making my evenings more enjoyable and keeping me well fed and watered too. Matt The training lads

On our way back from a 3 Day trip to Lytham/ Lytham StAnnes decided to stop off in ‘Rammy’ which we usually visit once a year for a day out, we have seen this pub before ( not been for 2 years due to Covid-19) but thought it looked a bit of a ‘men’s’ pub, but today we looked in and had a big surprise, the couple who have taken over have produced an almost fairytale look inside, it’s brilliant, had a lovely meal fo the 2 of us well priced, great Theakstons beer and friendly owners, it’s where we will be eating in future. Well done 👌🏽😃

very accommodating and friendly staff. We wanted to sit outside in the sun and they moved the tables for us. Helpful staff and nothing was too much trouble. They were also following the Covid rules and keeping customers safe.

Drove over from Leeds to stay at a local hotel, called in at the Oaks for lunch and had the Rag pudding as its a local dish which was recommended by the barmaid and we were delighted with our choice and would highly recommend it. The pub, staff and local customers were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Thank you Oaks for your lovely warm and friendly welcome and fantastic food and drinks.

Weirdly hipster interior with poor beer selection. I mean, it's fine, and they've gone to some effort, but a better tap selection would go a long way

Popped in for lunch yesterday afternoon after a steam engine ride from Bury. Friendly atmosphere and delicious home made food very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this pub.

On a chilly Saturday afternoon there's nothing more welcoming that a Northern local independant pub. We hadn't been in the Oaks for nearly two years as we live a good 35/40 minutes away so it was good to be back. The locals were watching live football so we managed a nice table for two in the snug. The menu is typical pub food but very reasonably priced. No hidden extras. The good lady chose a chilly which came hot in flavour and temperature while I settled for a good old rag pudding, chips mushy peas and proper gravy. It was excellent, a good portion and filling. I would have given 5 stars but marred by big dogs with pleading eyes banging into my nuts! Don't mind dogs but despair at them lolling around begging for food. At least the barmaid moved them when she noticed them. Still, I will return because its the food that counts.

Popped in for some lunch and rather shocked to find a couple of large dogs roaming around.Not particularly impressed with the food. My chicken was cooked to death and very dry, although the chips were hot and crispy.My husband had a rag pudding. The meat inside was quite tasty but there was hardly any of it and the pastry was basically raw. The chips and mushy peas were also swimming in gravy, meaning that the chips were soggy.Luckily it was cheap.There were some board games laid out for you to play, which was a nice touch.
