Absolutely brilliant!Every time I go, I feel a strong sense of nostalgia, old school but new!! Pastries are fantastic and the staff are so welcoming!!Will definitely return!!

retro fabulous - queueing out the door as soon as they open tells you what you need to know. belgian buns are legendary.

Love this bakery! We have to make sure we get ourselves a cake here when we're staying in Hastings. The scones and the buns are massive, and everything is very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit!

Bought three large hot sausage rolls from here today, when I got them home All Three were burnt black on the underside... totally disgusted....won't be returning!

Found this little gem of a bakery on the 1st day of our holiday and have visited twice since. Where to start?? The belgian bun - oh my days hands down THE MOST AMAZING bun I've ever had. Lamb and mint pastie 😋 😋 😋 😋 the rolls are huge and stuffed full of numerous fillings. Cannot fault any of what we bought and such fantastic value for money. Plus all the staff were friendly and polite. Thanks ❤️

Possibly the best bakery in Hastings! Staff are lovely. Great food, big portion sizes at a reasonable price. We always pop in when paying a visit to Hastings.

Hands down, the BEST bakery in Hastings & St Leonards, take it from someone born n bred. The sourdough both white and brown are wonderful! Dedicated and fabulous staff. Fresh hand prepared sandwiches on big beautiful fluffy rolls. Tried the banoffee pie on my latest visit was incredibly, such naughty but delightful treats. Options for vegans.

Ignored by four members of staff who were too busy talking to each other. Left without even being acknowledged. 5/7/2024 10.15am.

Popped in to get a steak slice and sausage roll on the way to station, both stone cold and hardly any filling. Weird.

Very tasty bread, their sourdough loafs are amazing. A nice selection of sweets, croissants, cakes and sandwiches. Everything is fresh and tasty.

We love their white and brown sourdough loaves. What we DON'T love are the ludicrous queues stretching down the street because everyone behind the counter is busy making sandwiches from scratch. On one occasion, one of the ladies was even cooking bacon. A certain amount of bacon could be pre-cooked and re-heated in the microwave! One solution to the queuing problem would be to have 2 queues, so that those of us who just want to pop in for a loaf don't find themselves behind someone getting lunch for the entire office! They could also have some of the most popular sandwiches or rolls already made up - lots of other bakeries do this. On more than one occasion, I have given up and shopped elsewhere, which robs them of a sale and means I have to compromise on the loaf I wanted

this is what you call a bakery, the guys are working up at 11 o’clock to 0600am . Don’t go to bed till the next day as they are cooking enough loaves so people can have a choice not yesterday bread freash bread there enough rolls to buy enough bread to make sandwiches Even take orders on the phone. A little gem of a bakery and not expensive. The only issue was there was a queue at the door so it is obviously well known to the locals.

This place knocks the socks of the competition with their Sour dough bread. If you have only ever tasted supermarket sourdough and didn't think much of it,then pop into this bakery and try theirs. You will be converted.

Bread, bakes, treats, and made to order sandwiches are all amazing and very affordable, value for money and quality. The staff are always patient, lovely and friendly. We are able to pop in after an afternoon dog walk as they are dog friendly, he even got a little treat 😀 I would strongly recommend.

After 12 years of using this bakery I'll never be walking in again. Totally disgusted

Lovely independent bakery with wide selection of savoury and sweet pastries. Ham and cheese slice and spinach and feta slice were both delicious. Friendly service.

We had pasties, sausage rolls, lamb samosas and a variety of cakes including the best eccles cake(my favourite) I have ever tasted. All of the food was absolutely delicious, if I could have eaten the food again I would have done Best bakery I've ever visited, would highly recommend, thankyou The Oak Bakery

Nice little backery. Had my standards and every day something different as a reward for taking the walk. Not a single piece was disappointing + a small dog cake mad my dog feel the same ;)

Great selection of tasty treats. Grabbed some bits before the long car ride home and was so glad I did. Super recommend their chocolate brownie, and all well priced!

Stayed at Combe Haven for the weekend and visited this bakery. The beautiful Sourdough bread in the window enticed us in and the quality of the products on sale was exceptional. Polite staff, clean establishment and probably the best Sourdough bread, sausage rolls and Belgiian buns I've tasted at fair prices! Look forward to returning very soon

It's all good. good bread, good cakes. THE best rocky road. Only thing that stops it being a 5 star is that the staff are usually quite grumpy and impatient.

We popped in to grab a few bits and pieces for breakfast, there is a wide range of bread and cakes to choose from and they even make sandwiches there. Staff are so friendly, if you're in the area pop in you won't be disappointed.

Great bakery and dog-friendly staff too! Ginger and I loved it. Ginger (my dog) even got a cute, heart-shaped treat. So far I had the fresh cream scone and the filled doughnut and they were great :)

I only popped in out of curiosity, as there was a queue outside. Very glad I did. I can recommend their sourdough - which they'll slice - their packs of teacakes and their massive, amazing Belgian buns!!

It's amazing!!! So many different breads & cakes ... It's difficult to choose and they all seem to taste delicious!!! They also offer a freshly made sandwich/baguette service which are generous in size and very flavoursome! ... It's endless! ...variety of pies, sausage rolls etc ... Even a soup of the day .... Best part, the prices are very reasonable.

I use this bakers a lot. Does the best bread for miles, great range of savoury food and cakes, with vegan options, their sandwiches are awesome and the staff are fantastic and it's great value for money.

Ordered 3 apple and cream turnovers. One had no cream and hardly any apple and the other 2 had the tiniest bit of cream in. Would usually have taken them back but couldn't bare queuing again.

I asked if they sold sourdough and they said yes and then sold me something which I thought didn’t look like sourdough, but I took it anyway. At home it definitely isn’t sourdough... Just wondered why they are calling it sourdough? It basically is like a normal very squashy brown loaf ... I can see from other reviews that I am not the only one saying this!

Bought a loaf purporting to be sourdough- no way! Tasted like a nice but normal loaf. Huge Belgian buns were great though.

Have twice bought Sourdough loaves from here - except they taste nothing like any other Sourdough thy taste like very ordinary bread. Croissant were OK though.

popped in to this bakery today, unfortunately the sandwich loaf and the cream doughnut both seemed vey stale and not nice at all, shame!

Bought large sour dough - got home tasted like normal bread to me / called up and was told it was sour dough - i think they need to really taste sour dough before calling it sour dough - never again ill go to Morrison's asda tesco and buy real sour dough Id be happy if anyone can try both and tell me they taste the same lol

All the bread, rolls and cakes are baked on the premises. Previously always had the granary/harvester loaf but more recently have changed to the brown sourdough. All the bread and rolls are delicious .The sandwiches are also made fresh and bursting with fillings.Andrew the owner and main Baker has in the past made fresh crumpets just because I requested them. Andrew and his Staff members in particular Kirsty are welcoming assist vulnerable customers.It is good to have a Bakers at the heart of a community .

Amazing tasty sandwiches and rolls. Really generous portion and cheap prices. Bread is always delicious and so fresh. Staff are always friendly. I love that I can support a local bakery. Lacking one star as everytime I've got a sweet treat I. E a cake, bakewell tart... They've been dry, taste like they are stale.

Really great bakery, their sourdough loaves are my family’s favourite & only bread we eat! Would be better if they didn’t wrap it in plastic - maybe switching to paper is a more sustainable way??

Best bakery in Saint Leonard's, been going there for my lunch every day whilst working in Warrior Square. Run by lovely friendly people Sandwiches are filled well, bread is perfect and the cakes are delicious 😋 Couldn't ask for much more

Yes they are a bakery that does vegan food cooked on site by themselves which tastes so good especially the vegan tarts which are the best - yes I have tried nearly all their extensive range!!!Their sourdough bread is excellent too and they will slice it to your choice of thickness as well.Recommended - Do try the Vegan range here.

Assorted breads, good choices, don't like the margarine used on sandwiches have to ask for butter but it is a cute bakery.

Being a morning to buy bread and sausage roll and the blonde woman at the counter was very rude in the way replying both to me and to her colleagues as well.There's no need to be rude in front of people, even if it's busy.Won't return, shame because we're locals and would supply there quite often.
