A little gem of a bakery and not expensive. The only issue was there was a queue at the door so it is obviously well known to the locals.

The best takeaway sandwiches rolls and pastries you will find. And really good value

This place knocks the socks of the competition with their Sour dough bread. If you have only ever tasted supermarket sourdough and didn't think much of it,then pop into this bakery and try theirs. You will be converted.

Bread, bakes, treats, and made to order sandwiches are all amazing and very affordable, value for money and quality. The staff are always patient, lovely and friendly. We are able to pop in after an afternoon dog walk as they are dog friendly, he even got a little treat 😀 I would strongly recommend.

After 12 years of using this bakery I'll never be walking in again. Totally disgusted

Lovely independent bakery with wide selection of savoury and sweet pastries. Ham and cheese slice and spinach and feta slice were both delicious. Friendly service.

Stayed at Combe Haven for the weekend and visited this bakery. The beautiful Sourdough bread in the window enticed us in and the quality of the products on sale was exceptional. Polite staff, clean establishment and probably the best Sourdough bread, sausage rolls and Belgiian buns I've tasted at fair prices! Look forward to returning very soon

It's all good. good bread, good cakes. THE best rocky road. Only thing that stops it being a 5 star is that the staff are usually quite grumpy and impatient.

We popped in to grab a few bits and pieces for breakfast, there is a wide range of bread and cakes to choose from and they even make sandwiches there. Staff are so friendly, if you're in the area pop in you won't be disappointed.

Great bakery and dog-friendly staff too! Ginger and I loved it. Ginger (my dog) even got a cute, heart-shaped treat. So far I had the fresh cream scone and the filled doughnut and they were great :)

I only popped in out of curiosity, as there was a queue outside. Very glad I did. I can recommend their sourdough - which they'll slice - their packs of teacakes and their massive, amazing Belgian buns!!

It's amazing!!! So many different breads & cakes ... It's difficult to choose and they all seem to taste delicious!!! They also offer a freshly made sandwich/baguette service which are generous in size and very flavoursome! ... It's endless! ...variety of pies, sausage rolls etc ... Even a soup of the day .... Best part, the prices are very reasonable.

I use this bakers a lot. Does the best bread for miles, great range of savoury food and cakes, with vegan options, their sandwiches are awesome and the staff are fantastic and it's great value for money.

Ordered 3 apple and cream turnovers. One had no cream and hardly any apple and the other 2 had the tiniest bit of cream in. Would usually have taken them back but couldn't bare queuing again.

I asked if they sold sourdough and they said yes and then sold me something which I thought didn’t look like sourdough, but I took it anyway. At home it definitely isn’t sourdough... Just wondered why they are calling it sourdough? It basically is like a normal very squashy brown loaf ... I can see from other reviews that I am not the only one saying this!

Bought a loaf purporting to be sourdough- no way! Tasted like a nice but normal loaf. Huge Belgian buns were great though.

Have twice bought Sourdough loaves from here - except they taste nothing like any other Sourdough thy taste like very ordinary bread. Croissant were OK though.

popped in to this bakery today, unfortunately the sandwich loaf and the cream doughnut both seemed vey stale and not nice at all, shame!

Bought large sour dough - got home tasted like normal bread to me / called up and was told it was sour dough - i think they need to really taste sour dough before calling it sour dough - never again ill go to Morrison's asda tesco and buy real sour dough Id be happy if anyone can try both and tell me they taste the same lol

All the bread, rolls and cakes are baked on the premises. Previously always had the granary/harvester loaf but more recently have changed to the brown sourdough. All the bread and rolls are delicious .The sandwiches are also made fresh and bursting with fillings.Andrew the owner and main Baker has in the past made fresh crumpets just because I requested them. Andrew and his Staff members in particular Kirsty are welcoming assist vulnerable customers.It is good to have a Bakers at the heart of a community .

Amazing tasty sandwiches and rolls. Really generous portion and cheap prices. Bread is always delicious and so fresh. Staff are always friendly. I love that I can support a local bakery. Lacking one star as everytime I've got a sweet treat I. E a cake, bakewell tart... They've been dry, taste like they are stale.

Really great bakery, their sourdough loaves are my family’s favourite & only bread we eat! Would be better if they didn’t wrap it in plastic - maybe switching to paper is a more sustainable way??

Best bakery in Saint Leonard's, been going there for my lunch every day whilst working in Warrior Square. Run by lovely friendly people Sandwiches are filled well, bread is perfect and the cakes are delicious 😋 Couldn't ask for much more

Yes they are a bakery that does vegan food cooked on site by themselves which tastes so good especially the vegan tarts which are the best - yes I have tried nearly all their extensive range!!!Their sourdough bread is excellent too and they will slice it to your choice of thickness as well.Recommended - Do try the Vegan range here.

Assorted breads, good choices, don't like the margarine used on sandwiches have to ask for butter but it is a cute bakery.

Being a morning to buy bread and sausage roll and the blonde woman at the counter was very rude in the way replying both to me and to her colleagues as well.There's no need to be rude in front of people, even if it's busy.Won't return, shame because we're locals and would supply there quite often.

If you want a well filled lunchtime roll at a very good price then I can't say I've had better than here. Large granary roll with chicken mayo and salad is my personal choice which leaves me rather full and not requiring any crisps or choc bars to satisfy my hunger at lunch. The pastries, sweet or savoury all look delicious but have not tried due to my dietary preferences. Recommended. Update 4/10/18........Have been enjoying the delicious sour dough bread as part of my lunchtime sandwich, until yesterday. As slices come from a rounded loaf the middle slices are considerably larger than any coming from the end of the loaf as I found out yesterday when presented with my lunchtime sandwich which was about the third of the size of any other I've had before but still charged the same amount. I queried this only to have my head bitten off with the retort of ''well what do you want us to do, throw away half the loaf?'' This was a crass reply at best as I had already been told on a previous visit that all remaining bread at the end of the day goes towards making their bread pudding. I left with my full price 4 bite sandwich which ultimately led me to another store as I was still hungry after eating it. One thing I look for as a customer anywhere is consistency........this varies here depending on who's making your sandwich/roll. Generally speaking the older the member of staff the less likely it is that I'm going to get the sandwich which brought me back here in the first place. Unfortunately I have found in the time I have been coming here is that the service (and again I refer to the 'senior' members of staff) comes with not so much of a cheerful attitude and a smile but more a general air of contempt and impatience of someone who has been doing the job too long. Maybe I was just unlucky and she was having a bad day, but that doesn't mean you take it out on your customers. It may be some time before I dare to visit here again.

This is a bakers shop, and a very good one, with friendly staff and excellent bread. Always a good selection of fresh cakes and pastries, popular with locals.

We were walking along George Street when my wife noticed that there was a table free in the Boulevard. So in we went. What a lovely place. Great service and wonderful food. At the end of the evening the chef came to each table to ask if we had enjoyed our meal! Now you don't get that every day! One of Hastings gems. Proper, authentic Thai food. It's cash only and you bring your own wine. What's not to like.

Their Spelt Loaf is a life saver if you're an IBS sufferer. The service is spot on and their bread is heavenly.

When I first moved to St Leonards I wanted my creature comforts. One of those was a great little bakery I could get all my fresh bread and cakes from. The staff at this place are like a family who welcome you in and couldn't be more friendly. The smell gets you immediately.... As all good bakeries do. Another reason why I stay in St Leonards.

What a lovely surprise, we popped into this bakery for a drink on the off chance. The cakes looked gorgeous, I had to buy something. So I bought a small sour dough loaf. Well bad move, I can't stop eating it. It's so soft and tasty. I'm on the third slice and half the loaf will be gone by this evening. Will diffo be returning very soon. And will be recommending too. 😄

More or less the best bakery in Hastings & St Leonards. Super friendly, lovely bread and pretty good pastries. Only criticisms are that they only take cash (really? It's 2018) and the sour dough not brilliant in my opinion.

The food on offer is AMAZING! The selection of cakes, breads and more is so wide and varied. I have brought many breads and cakes from this bakery over the years, however, the staff never seem to smile? They seem quiet, and I often feel as though customers are rushed. It doesn't cost anything to have a quick chat with customers, does it? SMILE MORE, CHAT MORE AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE THIS BAKERY SO MUCH MORE.

I recently took a job in St Leonards, near this bakery. Everyone should stop by! From bread through cream cakes, Coffee through soft drinks, take-away through table service, this bakery has it all.Portions are huge, quality is excellent and prices are much better than you'd expect.

I was passing by the area and spotted the bakery. The Belgian bun was huge and delicious. It had icing on top with raisins inside decorated with a glacé of cherry on top. Only 90pence.

Enormous Belgian buns VERY reasonably priced and spiced. We tried the yummy pasties as well. Shame we don't live closer!

Went down to St Leonards to visit our favourite cake shop. I have never tasted such lovely Belgium buns and they are huge! Take a trip and visit the Oak Bakery you will not be disappointed unless you are on a diet!!
