Big portions at a very reasonable price loverly staff you can't go wrong here

Whenever I am in Hastings, I get chips from here. I can't describe how nice the chips are from here... One word springs to mind PERFECT. Had some again today, sitting outside in the sun with a portion of their chips... Happy days

Avoid like the plague food was horrendous toilets horrendous my son had a sausage no chips but was told they don't sell sausage on its own 4 drinks and a sausage and cheesy chips £18.40 had a coffee which was like dish water when I queried the bill was confused as to how it was explained I've seen similar posts regarding costs with this place so be prepared if you go there.

Hastings Seafront on May Day is bedlam. My husband and I thought we’d sit in for fish and chips instead of taking away which we normally do. We always use Promenade anyway but don’t sit inside. We had a lovely waitress, I didn’t catch her name but she had red hair in a plait. She was so friendly and helpful. It must have been such a busy day for them all but they were smiley and helpful. The food came quickly and was lovely.

Was sat down very quick food came out very quick and was cooked just after we ordered food was amazing couldn’t have been better and the milkshakes are very good as well

Delicious Food and Perfect Service

Spot on!! With all the different fish and chip shops to choose from in Hastings it can be confusing which one to go to….and I’m glad we chose to go here! It was probably one of the best fish and chips dinner I have had in a long time. Crispy light batter, juicy flakey cod and most importantly not greasy. They cook the fish to order and this makes all the difference, especially with super fresh fish…you can taste how clean it was. I would have take a picture, but I ate it all. Me and my partner are both professional chefs and both agreed this is where we will go to in the future when we visit Hastings. Thanks for the excellent food!

Went to Hastings for a day out with the family and thought we would try fish and chips for lunch. Table of 6 was no problem and staff happy polite and friendly offering a warm welcome. Most of us had fish and chips and we were not disappointed at all. This was the best fish and chips i have had in a long while. Everything is cooked to order and is piping hot. The fish lovely and soft and chips just as i like them with lots of crispy bits. You will not be disappointed if you go to Hastings and eat at this restaurants. Well done for a first class fish and chip shop.

Visited here last august 2024 with 8 people 3 whom were kids , amazing service, all the cod chips,scampi and chips all cooked fresh for everyone , visited again on 20.4.25 and again outstanding 5 of us could not fault the food and service all cooked fresh , everyone cleared there large cod and chips, best fish and chips in Hastings i cant wait to visit again soon . staff and chef a credit to you the food is out standing amazing.

Overcharged the woman service before, she pointed it out and they rejected her a refund of what she was overcharged, but she left it.Then we decided to count how much we should have been charged (prices clearly displayed next to the takeaway window) and they had overcharged us too. They argued with us and didn’t want to refund us the clear difference in price (£2), she tried saying that we were going to sit on the tables, which we weren’t, but this wasn’t advertised either. No apology for over charging us and totally rude once we had pointed it out, which we had pointed out politely by the way. When the food was ready she pretty much shouted in my face ‘DO YOU WANT SALT AND VINEGAR WELL DO IT YOURSELF BECAUSE I WILL DO LOTS’- clearly angry at us but was honestly kind of a comical thing to try and say in an intimidating way. The fact they did it to the woman before us clearly shows they do it to all customers- just up your prices if you need to!!!! Food wasn’t great either, cod was fishy and I half suspect it wasn’t actually cod and was that cheaper alternative that looks/tastes similar, the flakes of fish were very thin and slightly curved in the center- not like cod! Chips were average. Honestly think the good reviews must be faked.

Nice fish and chips, the cod and chips was well cooked/crispy, and served hot.

This shop is absolutely horrid. I ordered a cod & chips, with an apple juice. Ok, the apple juice was £1.50 with 200ml, reasonable, and alright. However, the main meal was horrendous. Cod - came with no lemon + barely with any flavour. Chips - most of them did not have any potatoes, like they were just the outer layer. Ketchup - jelly like; it wasnt even ketchup, no tomatoes, all chemicals. Overall, would not recommend to others who are looking for a fish and chips shop.

Went in for lunch on Tuesday 18th Feb. Food was cooked to order. I had large cod and chips which was £12.50. Fish was huge, over hanging plate both sides. Chips were also very nice. Will be visiting again when next in Hastings. Would highly recommend.

Fish was fine, but the chips were just frozen store bought chips put into the deep fryer. Not what you want if you go and get fish and chips at the seaside. Very dissatisfied. The lady serving was really nice though.

Travelled from Maidstone to visit Hastings and decidet to try the Promonade fish bar.It did not disappoint.Service and staff were 10 out of 10,the food was piping hot and the portion size was very generous too!The place was nice and clean Would definitely recommend.

The food was extremely delicious and the staff were very kind and helpful. The food was amazing, the battered sausage and burger were also amazing! The chips were perfectly cooked and crispy and the curry sauce was also very tasty. Had my family here and they loved their fish and chips too!

Came here yesterday during lunch break and it was incredible. Hot crispy chips and delicious fresh fish at a good price. Would definitely come back

Sauges were rock hard fish was oily over charged and chips where oven chips dryed 🤦‍♂️the batter looked like a fish you get in frozen section in a box. Nothing like photos

Read some good reviews so we tried it out and were delighted the chips were fantastic the fish was really fresh and portions were generous the service was good and quicker than a well known burger chain (yuk) Highly recommended !

Always go here for our Fish and Chips when we go to Hastings. The food is cooked really well, good portions, and the staff are always very friendly.

The only thing that needs improving is the locks on the toilet doors because they didn't work but overall 3/5 would recommend

Lovely hot chips… all 3 of them, maybe they thought we were tourists and could rip us off but in terms of portion size, absolutely appalling. Won’t be going back, better off going to the dolphin.

5/5/24 revisited today for lunch with the Mrs. Absolutely first rate service and food. Food was plentiful and hot. Always a pleasure and will always go back there. I've now been here about 5-6 times Stopped their today with my cycling buddies and got ourselves some excellent chips n sausages with some great service too. There is a great choice of fish and chip shops in Hastings and we were looking to eat in. We looked along the front and this one had window seating, we noticed that as well as people already eating inside, there was also a queue for take away outside, so that made our minds up. We were not disappointed. Service was quick and very friendly. Fish and chip were freshly cooked and delicious. My husband especially liked the curry sauce. We are going home tomorrow but if we are down this way again would definitely have fish and chips here again.

Great value fish and chips on our 2nd time here. Freshly cooked fish and chips. Decor being worn let's it down slightly for atmosphere. But good food and a good price makes up for it.

We visit Hastings around 3-4 times per year and always have our lunch at Promenade. The owners are so lovely, and the staff always so warm and welcoming, plus being very quick and efficient with the orders. The atmosphere is really nice and the fish always so fresh and tasty. You'll always be amazed too when it comes to the bill which is always much lighter than you were expecting! Highly recommended.

Recently l had a nice fish and chips lunch here. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend coming here.

I've been here a few times in the past and it never disappoints. This time the fish and chips were excellent. The cod was melt in the mouth. It's priced very reasonably especially for sitting in. Some of the takeaway fish shops are more expensive. Would definitely go back and recommend others to go there as well. Owners are friendly and helpful. Drinks are good price.

By the 🌊 cosy and with delicious food! Highly recommend and especially off season when is not crowded. We will definitely return as a family.

Good value, we ate inside as a group of 7. There is highchairs and alcohol served here. Food was lovely and hot and cooked to order. Its table service, all staff are lovely in here.

Fishtastic. I had large cod and chips, wifey went for sausage and batter and chips. Both were amazing. Huge bit of cod. Fresh cooked fresh peeled potatoes. Lovely staff, very polite and attentive. Best I've had in years. Thoroughly recommend this place.n there's so much choice in this area and many sell frozen chips in poor oil. Refreshing change to find a proper good old fashioned chippy. We stopped at several along the front and Google / Trip Advisor researched them and looked at what was coming out of these places then moved along. So glad we found this place. Beautiful piece of Cod. Perfectly cooked. Thick fillet and must have been a foot long (300mm for young un's😂) Lovely batter. Loads of chips. Perfect end to our weekend away.

Fresh fish and chips right by the beach! Chips and fish batter were light and crispy, but don’t forget to salt your fish and chips. The food was well priced, and staff were friendly. However they would be better if they came with a lemon wedge.

This is the best fish&chip place in Hastings. As soon as we entered, the staff greeted us with a smile and were very polite and helpful. They were happy to tell us the prices and offers upfront. The atmosphere was very good. The quality of food fantastic and the prices very reasonable. Very ethical business! We felt so good that we will continue to be their customers! BIG THANK YOU!

I have been going to the Promenade Fish Bar with my parents since I can remember, my dad went there with his parents when he was growing up. It’s been a bit of a family tradition, when in Hastings, that’s where we eat. Sadly, I feel we have eaten there for the last time. The place hasn’t been the same since the long time owners gave it up a few years back. On this visit in particular the food was bland, the sausages and savaloys were inedible, the bread was stale, I could see my the gristle in my brothers burger from across the table and one order came out completely wrong. I wouldn’t go back there and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Excellent cod and chips, very accommodating and if I'm not that hungry they are happy to sell me a generous child's portion. Friendly family business.

Great fish and chips on the sea front. The food here is always of good quality, freshly cooked no old over used taste of oil you get in some places. Portion sizes are good for adults, can't comment on childrens portions. Staff are friendly and food is served fresh hot and quickly. Recommended place 👌

Came last week twice, always very impressed either quality of food and the pricing. Always seem to end up here when we have a visit to Hastings. Handy as leads straight on to Old Town which is great to explore.

Over here from Australia, had fish and chips several times in different places but can honestly say this has been the best, batter was very light and not gluggy! Cod was white, flakey and full of flavour. Our waitress was extremely helpful and polite. Prices excellent. If you visit Hastings and fancy fish and chips come here.

A great place to eat in Hastings. The fish and chips tasted great, especially what one would expect from a British seaside town. Proper fish and chips. Not oily in the slightest. Wonderful service, very well mannered and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. But today was my worse experience. I have never been spoken to so rude both me and my mum had be over charged and when the managers wife came over after we had paid the bill I have never been spoken to so rude in all my life. I will not be returning to this restaurant again it seems to be that they are adding an extra £1-£2 on peoples bill. So make sure u check ur bill before paying this is prob the reason that they don’t bring the bill to ur table.

Perfect fish and chips the batter was delicious and crunchy and the cod tasted fresh chips to die for too. All this at a very reasonable price. Staff very professional I would highly recommend this eatery

The fish was to die for! Battered and fried fresh as ordered, with great quality chips as well! Me and a few friends had a number of the dishes; the cod and chips, jumbo sausage and the quarter pounder with a side of onion rings. None of which disappointed in the slightest! The decor is lovely, nautically themed and made this brilliant dining experience all the better! The Promenade knows how to do Fish and Chips.

Fish was really well cooked, chips were crisp and not greasy, service with a smile. What's not to like? Would definitely come back

Lovely fish and chips restaurant with fresh produce. Will definitely come back here next time the family is down in Hastings. I wish they catered for my wife who has coeliacs disease. A lot of chippies now do this once a week when they are changing the oil over.

We visited Hastings on the 17th March 2023, We had cod and chips from the Promenade Fish bar, recommended by my in-laws. I have to say, their reputation is well earned. Lovely thin batter and excellent size thick cod. The owners are lovely too.

Had a large haddock and chips and omg what a fish nice size cooked to perfection and the chips was done to perfection 2 travelled 50 miles to the sea front just for fish and chips and deffo wasn't disappointed in coming to this place

Lovely place to pop in for a lunch or with the kids, fish and chips are lovely they serve burgers and nuggets to keep the kids happy, more seating upstairs and toilet on site, but the best bit about the restaurant has to be the family service... remembered me and knew my order, you don't see service like that much these days. I'll be back.

One of a few fish and chip restaurants open in Hastings at the time. Small restaurant a little tired in appearance but staff are friendly and couteous. Good prices with a "special" of cod, chips and drink for £9.90 each. Good size fish and plenty of chips. Very well cooked and fish tasted fresh. Small selection of dishes on menu. Good place to pop into for lunch.

My Partner and myself always go to The Promenade Fish Bar for the best Fish and Chips in Hastings Town. The Family who run it are really lovely and friendly, the service is quick, the food is freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Can't rate this venue higher 😀
