Promenade Fish Bar in Hastings

We visit Hastings around 3-4 times per year and always have our lunch at Promenade. The owners are so lovely, and the staff always so warm and welcoming, plus being very quick and efficient with the orders. The atmosphere is really nice and the fish always so fresh and tasty. You'll always be amazed too when it comes to the bill which is always much lighter than you were expecting! Highly recommended.

Recently l had a nice fish and chips lunch here. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend coming here.

I've been here a few times in the past and it never disappoints. This time the fish and chips were excellent. The cod was melt in the mouth. It's priced very reasonably especially for sitting in. Some of the takeaway fish shops are more expensive. Would definitely go back and recommend others to go there as well. Owners are friendly and helpful. Drinks are good price.

Very quiet when we visited. But quality fish and chips and very friendly.

Good value, we ate inside as a group of 7. There is highchairs and alcohol served here. Food was lovely and hot and cooked to order. Its table service, all staff are lovely in here.

A lovely family meal out. Food was fresh, & portions were very generous. Staff were welcoming & was a relief to find they were dog friendly. Pooch ate the chips we couldn’t finish.

My brother and I came here last Sunday. We both enjoyed a large cod and chips. We think its the best fish and chip shop in Hastings. Would definitely visit again . Thank you so much for our lovely meal

Fresh fish and chips right by the beach! Chips and fish batter were light and crispy, but don’t forget to salt your fish and chips. The food was well priced, and staff were friendly. However they would be better if they came with a lemon wedge.

This is the best fish&chip place in Hastings. As soon as we entered, the staff greeted us with a smile and were very polite and helpful. They were happy to tell us the prices and offers upfront. The atmosphere was very good. The quality of food fantastic and the prices very reasonable. Very ethical business! We felt so good that we will continue to be their customers! BIG THANK YOU!

I have been going to the Promenade Fish Bar with my parents since I can remember, my dad went there with his parents when he was growing up. It’s been a bit of a family tradition, when in Hastings, that’s where we eat. Sadly, I feel we have eaten there for the last time. The place hasn’t been the same since the long time owners gave it up a few years back. On this visit in particular the food was bland, the sausages and savaloys were inedible, the bread was stale, I could see my the gristle in my brothers burger from across the table and one order came out completely wrong. I wouldn’t go back there and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Excellent cod and chips, very accommodating and if I'm not that hungry they are happy to sell me a generous child's portion. Friendly family business.

Great fish and chips on the sea front. The food here is always of good quality, freshly cooked no old over used taste of oil you get in some places. Portion sizes are good for adults, can't comment on childrens portions. Staff are friendly and food is served fresh hot and quickly. Recommended place 👌

Came last week twice, always very impressed either quality of food and the pricing. Always seem to end up here when we have a visit to Hastings. Handy as leads straight on to Old Town which is great to explore.

Beautiful fresh food and lovely staff

Over here from Australia, had fish and chips several times in different places but can honestly say this has been the best, batter was very light and not gluggy! Cod was white, flakey and full of flavour. Our waitress was extremely helpful and polite. Prices excellent. If you visit Hastings and fancy fish and chips come here.

A great place to eat in Hastings. The fish and chips tasted great, especially what one would expect from a British seaside town. Proper fish and chips. Not oily in the slightest. Wonderful service, very well mannered and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Visited the Promenade again and they don't disappoint!! Great cooked food, great size meals for Adults and Kids! Only place for Fish and Chips in Hastings!!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. But today was my worse experience. I have never been spoken to so rude both me and my mum had be over charged and when the managers wife came over after we had paid the bill I have never been spoken to so rude in all my life. I will not be returning to this restaurant again it seems to be that they are adding an extra £1-£2 on peoples bill. So make sure u check ur bill before paying this is prob the reason that they don’t bring the bill to ur table.

Perfect fish and chips the batter was delicious and crunchy and the cod tasted fresh chips to die for too. All this at a very reasonable price. Staff very professional I would highly recommend this eatery

The fish was to die for! Battered and fried fresh as ordered, with great quality chips as well! Me and a few friends had a number of the dishes; the cod and chips, jumbo sausage and the quarter pounder with a side of onion rings. None of which disappointed in the slightest! The decor is lovely, nautically themed and made this brilliant dining experience all the better! The Promenade knows how to do Fish and Chips.

Fish was really well cooked, chips were crisp and not greasy, service with a smile. What's not to like? Would definitely come back

Lovely fish and chips restaurant with fresh produce. Will definitely come back here next time the family is down in Hastings. I wish they catered for my wife who has coeliacs disease. A lot of chippies now do this once a week when they are changing the oil over.

We visited Hastings on the 17th March 2023, We had cod and chips from the Promenade Fish bar, recommended by my in-laws. I have to say, their reputation is well earned. Lovely thin batter and excellent size thick cod. The owners are lovely too.

Had a large haddock and chips and omg what a fish nice size cooked to perfection and the chips was done to perfection 2 travelled 50 miles to the sea front just for fish and chips and deffo wasn't disappointed in coming to this place

Lovely place to pop in for a lunch or with the kids, fish and chips are lovely they serve burgers and nuggets to keep the kids happy, more seating upstairs and toilet on site, but the best bit about the restaurant has to be the family service... remembered me and knew my order, you don't see service like that much these days. I'll be back.

One of a few fish and chip restaurants open in Hastings at the time. Small restaurant a little tired in appearance but staff are friendly and couteous. Good prices with a "special" of cod, chips and drink for £9.90 each. Good size fish and plenty of chips. Very well cooked and fish tasted fresh. Small selection of dishes on menu. Good place to pop into for lunch.

My Partner and myself always go to The Promenade Fish Bar for the best Fish and Chips in Hastings Town. The Family who run it are really lovely and friendly, the service is quick, the food is freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Can't rate this venue higher 😀

I've Lived in Hastings for 5years now and I have to say.. me and my VERY picky children agree it's the best place to grab ya fish and chips. Not only is the food cooked fresh. The staff are so lovely, very welcoming and friendly. I always eat here when we hit the beach and everyone I know that travels from London eat here to.. came in yesturday with family who was visiting and they to thoroughly enjoyed it here, with food prices everywhere eating out are going up their prices are cheaper I found(..to good to be true tbh!) I highly recommend this place!!!! it's Clean, the food has always tasted lovely, NOT OILY LIKE MOST I FOUND, you have a nice view while u eat and most of all the staff are very friendly.. 10/10 for me.. I don't eat anywhere else when I come into town.

Awful experience. Sat inside, ordered a plate of chips, 3 savaloys, 2 battered sausages and 3 drinks. On entering looked at the menu, £2 each sausage, £3.50 chips and £1.50 for drinks. Food was OK nothing amazing. Went down to pay to be charged £30!! My son who is 14 said hold on I've got a calculator to which the staff screamed in his face and told him to get out. A 14 year old. They clearly can't add up their own prices and their attitude is rude and disgusting. When challenged over shouting at a child they said they didn't know it was rude to point and shout as they are from Albania. Disgusting excuse. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I Would never suggest this restaurant absolute rip off x2 cheese burger & chips ( not great but edible) and x2 soft can drinks ( not even a glass provided) table not wiped, charged £38.70 when argued told it was because they have separate menus one take out and one restaurant the cheese burger and chips £6.90 drinks 1.30 each, how does that equate to the amount charged will never attend again. Disgusted also ripped off family members when tackled they became aggressive 😡

28.40 for a plate of chips 5 sausages 3 cans of coke and a carton of apple juice. Rip off! Go somewhere else.

Every time we visit Hastings we always end up here, because we know we can rely on tasty and reasonably priced meals. The table service is prompt and you're never left long waiting for your order. The fish is always good and the chips are great too.

Have used this fish bar on a large number of occasions. The fish and chips have always been freshly cooked with proper portions. The drinks are very reasonably priced compared to a lot of the other venues. The staff are friendly. I also like the fact that you can sit outside and watch the day go by. Have sat inside before with no problems they charge slightly more but only pence. When we have fish and chips in Hastings we only ever use this place, never had a bad experience, would recommend it to everybody. Show less

First impressions were that the staff were lovely and friendly, we were welcomed with a warm smile. It was super clean, nothing looked out of place! Food was cooked fresh, served lovely and hot. Waitress was lovely and friendly. Only issue I had was the cheese on my chips was a tiny sprinkling! Needed more.

Fish and chips ok. Burger was awful. Overcooked dry like a piece of cardboard. Hot chocolate looked like a muddy puddle and tasted like hot water. . Wont be going back.

A very good seafront restaurant who cook their meals to order, ensuring good hot food is delivered to your table.

The cod was nice, but the chips were the worst chips I’d ever tasted, even the seagulls wouldn’t want them. Tasted like frozen oven chips that had been deep fried. The cheese burger was literally just that. The thinnest deep fried burger that was disgusting, thrown between a cheap burger roll and slice of cheese... didn’t even attempt to dress it with salad to make it edible. Apart from the cod, all left and still hungry.
