We come to the Brixham every year, we stumbled across here on a walk last week and decided to pop in. So glad we did. We were given the warmest welcome possible, excellent choice of beers, the regulars in there were extremely friendly and just a general really nice and cosy atmosphere in there. We ended up visiting another twice whilst on holiday and reccomended it to friends for when they visit as well. Cannot wait to go back in the winter!

Best pub in Brixham since being taken over by the lovely Steve King. We popped in on a horrible night in February and was surprised to find the pub really buzzing , great vibe , and friendly atmosphere . This is a cute traditional british pub, complete with candles and real fire, which I would certainly recommend. Dont be put off if full down stairs there are more seats upstairs. We cant wait to try their food. Do visit I am sure you will enjoy

The New Quay Inn, which years ago was known as “the Hole in the Wall”, is a friendly pub just behind the harbour. Mixed clientele of locals (including fishermen with their maritime yarns) and visitors, an eclectic wine list and reasonable selection of ales, ciders and local gins. My wife and I have drank and ate here for years, always whilst sailing in Brixham. However, we were this afternoon turned away based on a 19th century and inflexible policy. They are “kids free”. For context, our 6 month old has spent the past week living on our boat and has accompanied us to every pub we have wished to enter along the South Devon coast, with no issue at all. Apart from The New Quay, where we were refused entry to an otherwise empty pub, based on our sleeping baby being present.I have always been fond of this pub, and overlooked the often sluggish service; however we will from now on be observing their no kids policy and avoiding at all times, with or without children.

Meal yesterday lunchtime , they were busy but waited 1 1/4 hours for our meal . The starler " prawn bombs " ( very small ) were like bullets ,! Big mistake choosing those , think there were ? 6 with a dab of chilli sauce and bunch of rocket .....surely the chef could see they were hard , in fact I ended eating them with my fingers as I couldn't get my fork in ,( sent one flying in an effort to use my fork ) The roast was lovely but veg very greasy and overcooked , there were three of us having a roast , would have been nice to have had enough veg .... and a dish of veg for each of us . We have eaten here very many times but THIS time we're very disappointed , never had cause to complain before . I am sure this was a "one off " and won't put us off coming back , when visitors have gone .!

Hadn't been in for a few weeks, great to find it's still a great pub with fabulous food. Matt, Andy and the other staff are always so welcoming and helpful. We shared a starter of prawn bombs which were a bit odd to look at but so tasty. Mains were scampi and the steak pie, both truly scrumptious. Hubby even succumbed to desert of choc icecream with grand marnier liqueur. Service and attention faultless as usual. A great place to have a meal or just a couple of drinks.

Overpriced, average food that was very bland. Rock solid veg. Wouldn't eat here again or recommend. Lovely place for a drink before eating elsewhere

On a Friday evening this was a lively yet relaxed pub. The food was very nice and good value. The bar staff were very friendly.

My Son mother and myself visited for Sunday lunch. I had read the brilliant reviews so I was really looking forward to my meal.We had starters which were served with bread we were not offered butter we had to later ask for it. Three roast beef dinners, the meat was cooked beautifully slightly pink however only 1 slice and served on a potion of mashed potato which initially gave the impression that you had quite a generous portion. Roast potatoes had clearly been pre cooked as were the parsnips and were joust warm.four cauliflower florets and the same quantity of broccoli, some sliced carrots and about 6 French beans 1 quite tasty Yorkshire pudding and gravy which was also quite tasty. We weren't offered any sauces we had to ask for this when we managed to attract the attention of the young man who was waiting on.This came in a small pot only one portion for three people and we were given a small plastic spoon with this. Deserts were ok nothing really to write home about. It is a lovely little pub with a very quaint dining area upstairs.Such a shame I don't feel able to recommend it to anyone.I will add we were asked if everything was ok and I did reply that the food could have been hotter. We were not given the option of it being put right. Most disappointed. The price tag of I think £18.50 per head would have been ok if the food had been hot and reheated potatoes and parsnip.

We went here today for a lovely Sunday lunch after reading reviews on this site.We rang first to check if they are dog friendly and they said it's no problem in the bar downstairs.Gotta say it was a lovely meal, three courses for £18.95 so reasonable too. They provide extra vegetables for our 2 cocker spaniels ( they love a Sunday dinner )for only £1.50.Good ambiance, nice environment and lovely friendly staff.Would definitely go back again !!
