I visited The New Inn last night in a group of 8 friends for our Christmas meal night out. The pub was toasty warm with a log burner going near our table, just what we needed on a wild stormy night! We had the three course Christmas menu and the food was delicious, and there was plenty of it! I had the lamb main course and there was loads of meat, and none of it fatty. My starter was spicy parsnip soup with bacon, also delicious, and for dessert I had the biggest slice of cheesecake I've ever seen! We were also given a palette cleansing sorbet in between the starter and main which was a lovely surprise. Would definitely recommend!

After getting lost on a walk in Halvasso sometime ago, we ended up walking into Mabe. We came into the New Inn to get a drink and to call a taxi to get back to our car. The lady at the bar was exceptionally friendly, helpful and welcoming. As a result we decided to come back for a Sunday lunch. I wish I had got her name as she is such an asset to the pub. We booked a time of 2.30pm as I was told they were fully booked up until then. We actually arrived at 1.45pm thinking we could have a drink at the bar beforehand. As it turned out the restaurant area of the pub was more than two thirds empty. So we were given our table on arrival. We enjoyed our pork roast, loads of veggies including stuffing, crackling and cauliflower cheese. Service by two young men was good. Our puddings were fine too. What was odd that after we arrived at 1.45pm nobody else arrived other than one other couple. So it did look as if we could have eaten earlier. We were fine with the time but I wondered if it means the pub could be missing out on custom. There was no sign of the very friendly lady we had previously seen, though there was a pleasant young woman behind the bar. We would come again. It's a nice pub with good comfortable chairs and seating. Plenty of parking. But on both occasions we visited quite a few of the beers were off.

We walked in without a reservation and the lady who spoke to us was so rude. When we asked if they had a table she said “no I’m fully booked”. There was nobody in tne restaurant. I’m assuming she doesn’t like tourists. I think an apology and a polite response would have been in order.

Unfortunately didn’t get lunch as we ordered mussels but were then told that they didn’t have any. We had already ordered a drink so had a couple of sips and went to the bar to pay for the drink and go elsewhere. Then came the shock !!!!! £4 for 2 halfs of lime and soda. WHAT!!!!!! Insane!!!! £2 for a small Lime and soda. The beach hut at watergate bay charge 70p and they are right on the best beach in the UK. Scandalous.

We were staying locally and had booked ahead for dinner. We had a lovely meal cooked and presented well, had to wait a fair time for it but worth it. Then we thought we would just walk in another evening but hadn’t booked the person on the bar said we would have a wait of about 3/4 hour but unfortunately it turned out to be nearly 2 hours we could have walked away but we hadn’t booked anywhere else so decided to wait it out. The food is lovely but the time waiting was awful. It wasn’t the bar person’s fault and she tried her best to reassure us our food would come but it seems if you book you get a better service.

Lovely little pub, very quiet. Went for lunch with friends. Lady behind bar very friendly. Ordered food, when food came, my friends were fine, but the cheese soufflé I ordered turned out to be completely frozen in the middle. Spoke to lady behind bar who was very apologetic and took plate to rectify straightaway. Offered me a free drink, which Ideclined as still had my original drink, said she would remove cost of my drink ( elderflower presse) from Bill. Returned shortly with my plate, which had not been replaced with a fresh one, but reheated further in the microwave. My friend paid for lunch and I assumed cost of my meal would of been taken off bill, but that wasn't the case. My friends enjoyed their choice of meals, but I would have to say that a microwaved cheese soufflé not recommended.

Nice little pub with good ales and food. The pub has the feel of being a great local. We hired a cottage close by and popped in for our tea one evening. The staff were really friendly and were great with our border collie - she got biscuits before we got served lol. I had mussels and my wife had the home made fish cakes - she couldn’t finish them so I had to help out - they were lovely. We were tempted by the desserts but decided to pass as we’d had a cream tea earlier 😋

Whilst on holiday in the Falmouth area my wife and I decided to revisit The New Inn at Mabe Burnthouse, somewhere we have not visited for about 10-years, why did we leave it so long? As soon as we walked in (a Friday at 12.00 noon) we were met with a warm welcome, a table for us and our little dog was soon found, some little treats were given to our dog who enjoys lunch out with her human family. My wife had a glass of red wine and as I was driving, a Diet Coke was consumed whilst we contemplated the choice on the menu and specials board. I opted for the 'all day brunch', it contained all the usual items but, something that I have not had with this meal before, bubble & squeak. My wife opted for fish cakes and chips with salad and a selection of tasty dips. Although neither of us needed a dessert, the temptation was too great to dismiss, my other half had chocolate mousse which she described as being very smooth, creamy and delicious and I could not resist the apple & berry crumble served with custard. The whole meal was so tasty and obviously homemade, something that not all pubs offer these days, unfortunately. I cannot recommend The New Inn heartily enough, it was a great lunch and very reasonably priced, if you live around Falmouth or planning a holiday in the area you must visit, you will not be disappointed.

We were offered Beef, Pork or Turkey, and they offer Large, Small or Child portions. We had a small Pork and a large Beef. Both served with Yorkshire pudding and were nicely presented and came with some veg on the plate and some different veg brought in dishes. We asked for more gravy and some horseraddish and both came very quickly. Small Roast = £ 7.95 and Large Roast =£9.95. Good value and plesant surroundings. Other menus available at other times.

We visited recently and were very impressed by the refurbishment which has really improved the feel of this pub. It now feels like a venue that could draw people in rather than just a locals pub. The roasts looked impressive but the beef was of very poor quality, served slightly rare (which I don’t mind) but exceptionally chewy and no flavour. Partner did not enjoy the Yorkshire puddings as they had a ‘strange’ flavour. There are board games for children and staff working hard to impress.

We were given somebody else’s food, which was then promptly removed and given to the other table (felt sorry for the other people). When our food came after a long 50 minutes, the Yorkshire’s were burnt, some potatoes hard, no spoons to dish the veg out with and all luke warm. On a positive note the new decor looks nice and the landlady did try and resolve my complaint.

As we were waiting for the food for a long time, I went to the bar to ask how long on our food; he replied that there area lot of tables waiting but he will go and find out but was in now hurry. Nice little local pub we visited a couple of times for dinner on our stay in a holiday cottage nearby.Friendly atmosphere when we went in (unlike another local pub down the road which we didn't bother to stay in to order anything).Definitely recommend their 2 meals for £13 deal on a Wednesday, which included their 8oz Cornish rump steaks!I did have a bit of an issue with my steak, since it was cut in a rather steep wedge - the thick end was far too undercooked for my liking (med-rare), but they quickly sorted out the issue and when it was returned (with some comp extra onion rings), it was perfect.Normal prices were as would be expected from a pub, as was the rest of the menu - although a bit unassuming from the outside, we definitely recommend you give this pub a go if in the area.

My partner said the lasagne was good. We had to go to the barto settle the bill as I'm sure the lady who served us had forgotten we were there (as we were the only ones eating). By far, the worst pub I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. The first time I visited this pub, it took half an hour to get served as the bar man was only interested in serving 'locals', in fact, it took so long that when we finally were served, the entire pub erupted with applause! We then attempted to make friendly conversation with the man (whose personal hygiene & appearance left a lot to be desired!) only to be met with a miserable response from someone who clearly had no interest in talking to us & was rude enough to make that quite apparent. We did return to the pub once more after this occasion to give them a second chance, as it is our local after all, but were met with much the same response. Needless to say, we shall not be giving them a third chance.

This is our local pub and i must say the food is excellent as are the prices, the only downside being that there is one barman there who seriously lacks in personality and customer service, he is definitely in the wrong job, i mean does it take much to greet people when they come into the pub and maybe make conversation particularly when there aren't many customers anyway, after all, they are paying your wages!! This could be a thriving pub if a bit more effort was made to encourage people to return!! (I'm not talking about Tim the landlord either as when he's been there it's been fine) .

Don't know if the directions are wrong or the pub is invisible but it certainly isn't where it says on the map xx this is not a review on the food or service as we are yet to experience it x

I live nearby and can safely say that, if I were single I wouldn't bother to cook for myself; I'd go down the pub every night! There is plenty of choice and portions are generous. There are deals that are different each night - the 2 for £12 on Wednesdays includes the 8 oz steak option, which would be worth the £12 on its own.The beer isn't at all bad either - go for the Jail Ale.

If you are looking for a good lunch when visiting Falmouth drive out to Mabe Burnthouse off the approach bypass. Old world bars with good beer and speciality lunches served on various days. Ring --------- for up to date offers. Tuesdays are roast days beef, lamb etc at a wonderful price with super home made puds to follow. Park free and be prepared to take your time as there will not a lot of empty space on the plates when your meal arrives. This is one of those secret places where locals eat and drink so enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy a great meal at a very reasonable price. The easy way to find the inn is to look for the Asda roundabout on the A39 Falmouth main approach road and turn west up the hill. The Inn is on the left hand side of the crossroads at the top of the hill. Enjoy.

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
