We called for a sandwich at lunchtime as were having a meal later. We opted for baguette & chips. I had turkey & stuffing in gravy and my husband had beef in gravy. They were absolutely gorgeous and the home cut chips were fantastic. We won't be having tea now, we were well and truly full. This was our third visit for food and have always enjoyed the home cooked food.

Been coming years won’t be returning 40 min wait but yet booked .accused of lying basically . Really disappointed disgusted tbh apart from a massive blond hair in my mothers mash the food was ok 👍 spend your money elsewhere

We were sat at a table of our choice and ordered drinks. We were told that they didn’t offer starters on a Sunday. This isn’t mentioned on the website. Although a little disappointing, it wasn’t the end of the world, We ordered drinks (hand pulled beer option limited to Timmy Taylor’s Landlord) . The drinks arrived but a massive bug bear of mine is no beer/drinks mats on tables They had loads at the bar, so went to get some myself and handed a few to the appreciative table next to us The food menu for a Sunday was varied with plenty of choice (slight disappointment that the lamb shank shown on website menu is not on the actual menu) We ordered the beef brisket lunch, the pig out (3 meat) lunch a sharing cauliflower cheese and 2 lots of fish and chips. At least 3 tables who arrived after us and arrived after us received their food before us. The wine list was minimal (4 red wine options from memory) We ordered a bottle of Argentinian Malbec at £20, it was not very good at all and very much over priced. I would have preferred an option to pay more for a decent one. The food arrived and was very good and priced accordingly. Overall I probably wouldn’t rush back as there are other places similarly priced which I prefer but I couldn’t knock the food

The food and service were fine although we found it expensive for what it was. One of the things on the online menu was shown as gluten free and then wasn’t when we went in, which is very annoying! The food was just okay, we had the southern fried chicken and chips, chicken burger and pie. The portions were average and the service was okay. This place used to have a great reputation, but unfortunately is now just average. There are much nicer places to get a pub meal for the money. Not sure we will return!

Nice sunny day, walking past and tempted in by the sun on the beer garden., Good selection of beer, Moretti, Madri to name a couple. Decided that we would have tea out and ordered a Pork and a Beef dinner. Both were spot on, plenty of meat, gravy and veg and a lovely Yorkshire Pudding. Will definitely be back.

Awful we will never return! I have heard mixed reviews about this pub however as we live local we thought we would give it a go. What a mistake. We arrived and there was no welcome! Staff members walked past us and did not even look in our direction. After having to ask someone further into the restaurant we were seated. It took 15 minutes to get drink order and another 25 minutes to receive. The food took far too long to arrive and when it did half of it came out cold. We complained to the server who did not seem interested however redirected us to the manager. We watched her go to the manager who was on the phone and his behaviour was dreadful! He put his finger up to this server telling her to wait, then shock his finger at her. When he finally got off the phone they had a conversation which led to the manager shouting loudly no and looking over at our table in disgust. He did not come over to the table instead sent the server back to explain there was nothing they could do. I explained the managers behaviour was unacceptable and should not be allowed to treat staff by waving his finger at them! (Which we had seen him do multiple times throughout our time there) she replied and stated that he was the landlord and manager and was too busy to listen to the complaint. The table next to us even said they had been a few times and he was always rude! So our complaint meant nothing to him clearly. Our plates were cleared almost still full, my daughter wanted a dessert so reluctantly I asked for a dessert menu. She replied stating the desserts were unavailable at this time and walked off. By this point I was livid. I watched another table go up to the manger to complain and again he stuck his finger up in the air telling them to stop. I just think this is disgusting behaviour treating staff and customers like dogs almost. I attempted to complain again to a different staff member once our bill arrived (which we had not asked for yet but delivered anyways) stating I was not happy to pay the bill as half our food was inedible and the drinks delayed after we never received our second round, and the managers awful behaviour. They went to speak to the manager again which was pointless as we heard him speak extremely rude to the server and about our table! Stating we were lying and they would not do anything about our poor experience. He stormed off from his seat whilst glaring at us on his way past. We will never return! No one should act or speak to anyone the way he did especially someone running a business. Customer service inexistent and awful experience all round.

Fabulous food, very well priced. We went for a family meal and everyone enjoy each course. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff

Really good quality food. Great choice of British pub food with some more modern choices. Small plate meal was excellent value for money. Main meals were so tasty, really fresh and great value for money. The pub is clean and traditional. We will visit again. Service was good 👍

Just returned home from yet another visit to H&H, and it was beautiful as always - we've been several times over the past few years and can't fault it. I had my go-to choice of the boneless southern fried chicken with chips and gravy and it was delicious, staff were (and always are) friendly and attentive, with a nice atmosphere. Love coming here!

Huge portions we’ve had the Sunday roast a few times, always plenty of well cooked meat and plenty of gravy, as well as numerous other dishes. Good value, really tasty, good service always with a smile, see you again soon.

We visited on the spur of the moment for a bite to eat, there weren’t many people in the pub on arrival but ordered some food starter we had chicken strips they were really nice piping hot and big portions, for mains my husband had Gammon and I had chicken & mushroom pie both were large portions and really tasty, lovely home cooked food, didn’t have a dessert as we didn’t have any room for one, will definitely be returning.

We went as a group of 7, the kids had fish & chips, 2 had the chicken Parmesan (huge portion), and the rest of us had a variety of the roasts. Food was delicious, massive portions & piping hot. Friendly staff, would definitely go again. Too full to have dessert, which we were offered.

We were on a day trip from Liverpool and stopped off for a prearranged lunch here. Lunch .Soup an chicken sandwiches and chips. All homemade and very tasty. Thank you to the landlord chef and all the bar staff. Had a lovely couple of hours there.👍👍

This was the best Sunday lunch we have had in years. We both had lamb shank with a variety of vegetables all piping hot and lashings of gravy.

Visited on sunday and the service was really slow, the food was not a patch on what it used to be, most of it was Luke warm at best, wasn’t offered desserts or more drinks while we sat 40 minutes wait for our dinner, won’t be returning

Lovely food, plenty of choice on the menu. Had the small plate offer,which was a main meal and a dessert for £10:95. Good portion size. Food very fresh. Gourmet burger was delicious too. Would definitely visit again. Staff very friendly

Our 3rd visit and the food has always been delicious. Lovely staff, good service and very accommodating for one of our group who wanted to amend her menu choice slightly. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

Experience was terrible. No atmosphere, when asked to place our food order, we was told kitchen is full therefore need to wait for space in kitchen before ordering. Was told straight after eating that ‘kicking out time was 9pm’ still had full drinks to drink and wasn’t offer deserts, music turned off whilst still eating. Staff whistled at 9pm to leave the pub. Will NOT be returning. Bill £120.

first visit here would 100% recommend it, lovely place ,lovely staff ,and beautiful home made food .one of the best meals i have had ever in a pub . give it a go ,you wont be disappointed .

A great pub with friendly, welcoming staff, a good selection of beers and delicious food. The pie was the best I’ve had in a long while! Thank you.
