The food and drinks we had were excellent- and the service from the staff was impeccable! We will definitely visit again soon!

Book a table online before you go! Lovely atmosphere, real fires very homely. Can be a wait for your food, but with it! Lovely Carvery meal.

Beautiful country pub, exposed stone, log burner and mismatch farm house chairs. Bit chilly near the fire exit where we sat, toilets were out of order except the disabled one. Food was good, waiter was miserable though, maybe he was just having a bad day. Probably would go again if we were in the area but wouldn't drive the 20 mile just for it like we did tonight.

Thank you for our very comfortable table area, close to accessible toilet where could have dog. Dog table is perfect for looking after our dogs. Meals were very tasty, good sizes and overall delish, what we ordered. Had a lovely meal in with fab service and times, thanks again.

Came here 3 years ago and left a 3-star review. Visited again and had a much better experience! It was a freezing day, but the pub was lovely and warm. One of our party was elderly and had been in hospital, we told them this on booking so they put us near an open fire... very thoughtful. The food was excellent... triple cooked chips are definitely recommended (I had pie of the day, chips and veg), although everything our party ordered was great. Staff friendly and service good... we weren't rushed but not waiting ages either. Prices are a little above average but worth it. Highly recommend.

Booked late on during the day & managed to be fitted in for a lovely meal in a superb pub with a warm atmosphere - the food was spot on and Harvey was excellent as always with his hospitality! Would highly recommend to anyone👍

We broke down on the M62 and AA took 8 hours to reach us so this pub was a saviour for us. They welcomed us in, provided a complementary cup of tea and kept us warm, dry and satisfied. The staff were incredibly understanding and kind and the food was lovely. Placed to charge our phones, nice music and warming fires. This place completely saved our sanity and I don’t know how we would have managed without! Many thanks to all of the staff.

Won’t be in a hurry to go back.

Eeh by gum, if tha's lookin' for a proper crackin' spot wi' top notch hospitality, then this place is reet up your street! Walkin' in, you're greeted wi' a smile as warm as a fresh-baked pie. Staff are as friendly as your gran on Christmas morning, makin' tha feel proper welcome from the off. Now, the banter? Well, it's summat else. The staff's jokes are funnier than a ferret in a trouser leg! They’ve got a way of keepin' spirits high, even on a rainy day in God’s own country. You'll be chucklin' like a kid at a panto by the end of your visit. From start to finish, it's like a home away from home, wi' a pint in hand and a belly full of scran. Proper Yorkshire hospitality at its finest. Five stars.

Really enjoyed our Sunday meal at this friendly and welcoming restaurant. The food did not disappoint and the staff especially Heather weee great. The venue welcomed all and was well suited to families including those with babies having a range of well spaced out and interesting seating areas. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

The restaurent was cold, there were small heaters dotted around. Table booked for 5.30pm, party of 5 and a toddler. 2 ordered starters which were just ok, they arrived about 6.10 pm. We were just about get up to leave when main courses arrived at 6.55pm. Mains were again just ok. Steaks had no onion rings or tomato with them. I think we were past it. Didn't order puddings as I dread to think how long they might take. I asked if service is always so slow and was told it was because were ordered 2 starters. I took a cake and candles as it was a birthday but didnt even get it out. What a poor start to a birthday weekend.

We've been there a number of times in the past and chose to go today (Boxing Day) with the whole family to have a lovely meal and save ourselves the trouble of cooking and having to clean up. We weren't disappointed, great service and fantastic food. Will defiantly be going back again

Always a lovely experience when visiting the Nags Head. Me and my friends dine here often and never have a bad word to say! Food is always delicious with perfect portions. Wait times are kept to a minimum with perfect intervals between courses. All the staff are very attentive. Very excited for my christmas dinner here with my family!

Always come to Nags Head for food and the atmosphere is always pleasant and the whole team are very friendly and helpful. The food is always tasty would definitely recommend! A special mention to Tom the Chef. Tom the manager and Harvey our server.

I often visit the nags head as I used to work for M&B and worked round the corner and I came for food with my friends yesterday evening and as always the food and service was excellent. I’d like to give mr Tom riddle in the kitchen a mention as his food is always beautiful 🤩

Ordered a 3 course meal, after waiting 20 mins between main and dessert, asked the waitress.....it gets put 'on hold' till you actually ask for it.....not a problem if you are au fait with this rule.

Lovely food served by friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming staff in great surroundings with a nice atmosphere, highly recommended.

Lovely place to meet up with friends and have good food. It is cosy and warm, especially in these colder months. Heather was fantastic, welcoming and friendly making sure we had the best experience there.

The food we had was poor. The menu is expensive here. If I’m paying £19 for a bowl of chicken curry, it better be good - and it wasn’t. Salty, overcooked, flat, dry. Felt like yet another pub trying to put out a premium sounding menu charging a premium price and failing to employ a premium chef or manager overseeing food quality. Shame as the venue and service staff were decent.

We came here from Liverpool as we were staying nearby. Stunning service from Daisy and the food was amazing. The outside of the pub itself looks like a movie! I will visit here again!

Had the haddock and spinach fish cakes which were really tasty. Chips were fresh and crispy and green veg done to perfection. Mum had sprong onion mash instesd of chips which was also very good.

It's a nice looking pub, but it's pricey and the food is rubbish! Its just warmed up freezer food. You can tell non of it is freshly made. I had the steak pie (£16/17) with some hard veg and oven chips. The pie was so dry and tough. My partners breaded chicken thing wasn't any better. Then we ordered pudding, thinking surely they can't go wrong here. i had the choc brownie and i think it was the worst I've ever tried, it was so floury . Even sending all most full plates back we weren't asked if the food was alright, probably because they know how rubbish it is. All in all 2 mains and 2 puddings was almost £60 the nicest thing we had was an appletiser drink. We definitely wouldn't go back. If you want a nice pub meal, I would Not recommend.

Friendly pub and restaurant. Though not eaten for many years, we have recently been walking and conveniently included the nags head in the walk. Staff have always been friendly when serving, good seating inside and outside. Update 12 Nov 24 - last several weeks we have been trying the bar snack menu. Its not bad for a snack, pretty good choice. Was 3 for £10 but increased to £12 fairly recently. The staff were wonderful this evening.

Went back recently after a great first experience but our 2nd visit was so bad I'm changing my review. The staff (one girl was lovely, this applies to the rest) need some in depth courses in customer service. Appalling. Your manager should be ashamed of how you all handled things. Will not be going back.

Great atmosphere for midweek--it felt more like a Friday night. We arrived at 16:30 and the pub was already busy with people eating. It felt slightly understaffed. There wasn't a dedicated person behind the bar, we had to go and find someone. The same with the food--no one came to ask if everything was OK so my friend had to go and find someone to request fresh French fries. Other than that, it's a great location just of the M62 so good for a meet up with friends coming from Lancashire. I liked the cosy bar area and we also had a 40% discount voucher (for mains) which was very good.

Standard menu but nice and varied. Great food and great service. Seating area for if you have your dog. Open on a Monday and popular. Can book online. Fab:)

We visited on Friday evening for a quiet meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The staff were attentive and friendly. However, there were 2 families with 4/5 year old children who allowed them to spend the whole meal running around the restaurant, annoying the guests. When you are paying hard earned money, wishing to spend a pleasant evening then having it ruined by ill mannered parents unable to control their children, is totally unacceptable and totally spoiled our evening and forced us to leave without having desserts or coffee.

Attended the RSPCA Halloween event today at the Nags Head and it was a lovely day. The venue was clean, cosy and all staff were welcoming. We will be sure to return. Thank you.

Good food, on the pricey side and selection could have some lighter options that aren't salad. I ended up with a soup starter and a side dish. Tasty soup with lovely bread and generous portion of butter. Delicious haloumi fries with chilli dip. My son had buttermilk chicken burger with fries, he enjoyed his meal.

Service slow, food lovely but over priced

Welcoming and friendly restaurant. We arrived after a long day of travelling in a car. We checked into our hotel next door and headed straight here for dinner. Upon entering the staff were very friendly and interacted with us and our children straight away, entertaining my 2 year old by saying hiya every time he did. Our order was promptly taken and food arrived quickly. My partner ordered the pie, I ordered the chicken burger and my soon had a pizza from the kids menu. All tasted delicious and was good value for money. We were then offered the dessert menu, we ordered the crème brûlée and the honeycomb dome, the presentation of the dome was fantastic and both desserts tasted great. Our main thought about the restaurant however was how great and accommodating the staff are, we would like to say particular thanks to Michael and Leah, both are a credit to the restaurant.

We came here on Saturday night for a meal after googling the best place to eat in Huddersfield. Only 10 mins drive from our premier inn central where we were staying for work. We had the lamb with the red wine jus which was beautifully cooked and the drinks were lovely along with their staff.

There was no meringue in the dessert just fruit and masses of cream. I only order this because I like the meringue

Happened upon this pub whilst up in Huddersfield for the weekend. A beautifully presented pub with plenty of choice of drinks. Also dog friendly. The food was superb, the best we've had in quite some time. The service staff were brilliant and welcoming, Leah was our server and she was first class, very attentive without being overbearing, easy to talk to and answered any questions we had. If we ever go back up that way we'll be sure to pop in again.

The whole experience was excellent, the food was more or less priced at "pub grub" level but the quality was several notches above that. The staff were attentive & polite & the building was clean tidy & welcoming, it was a comfortable environment which made me want to stay longer. The only (slightly) negative comments I would make are that the ashtrays outside do need emptying & wiping quite often (the one at our table was full) & on a personal level it irritates me to pay £4.40 for a pint of real ale but hey ho I will get over it!

Food was late (supposed to be here at 7:45pm), kept the poor driver waiting for an hour in the restaurant, when it finally arrived (9:05pm) the food was room temperature at best. Ordered cheesy garlic bread, did not have cheese.

I've never needed to find a dog friendly restaurant till my brother announced a surprise trip to Huddersfield this weekend. He took me out for a meal for my 50th birthday. I'm so glad I picked the Nag's Head! My brother, SIL and nephew live in Oxford. Which has loads of dog friendly pub restaurants in the picturesque outskirts. They were blown away by the selection and quality of the food, the ambience etc. The steaks were perfectly cooked. The lamb rump was delicious. But the thing that really stunned them was the fact that dog friendly MEANT dog friendly and not just dog tolerating. Water bowls, treats etc for the little princess. It gave me a smug Northern glow that, in their eyes, the Nag's Head offered the same standard of food they'd expect in Oxfordshire, but at slightly lower price and with better customer (and doggy) service. Keep it up!
