The Narrowbar Cafe in Eden

Came across this lovely cafe in Penrith. Stopped for coffee and a snack mid morning. Lovely coffee, fabulous scrambled eggs on toast, tasty tea cake. The cafe has a wide range of food and the prices were very reasonable. Good service too.

Nice little find staff were brilliant and food was really good lots of choice. Latte's were really lovely and toasted tea cakes brilliant

We called in about 4.20pm for a quick coffee and cake. We were informed no hot food was available as they close at 4.30pm. Even though we were last minute, the service was excellent and polite. Also the coffee was excellent. We'll be back.

our second visit to this fantasic cafe, the food is freshly cooked to order with generous portions. What truly stands out is their expertise regarding allergens present in their dishes; they treated our allergies with utmost seriousness, allowing us to relish our meal with confidenc, would defo recommend!

Excellent Cafe with friendly staff! We were served with the largest toasted teacakes we have ever had and they were excellent and also the coffee. They also serve a wide range of homemade regional food so do keep them in mind if you are stopping off in this lovely town of Penrith with very reasonable prices!

I went here today for a bite to eat, it looked really nice. The service was great, coffee great but my poached eggs tasted/looked like boiled eggs. I did mention this when I went to pay but the waitress didn’t reply with an apology or nothing. It wasn’t her fault, but an apology would have sufficed! Won’t be returning.

Great homemade Gluten Free cake and great coffee and you can choose your size cup, so no oversized cup, staff lovely, although our dog tried to eat you! Until the treats came 👍

Found this via TripAdvisor and the reviews were correct! Lovely staff, tasty food and good atmosphere. They were also AMAZING when it came to catering for people with food allergies, they probably don't realise how good they are. I'd definitely recommend this place

Lovely cafe, cheery staff, extra seating upstairs, front and back entrances. Baileys latte, tea, scone with jam & butter, double chocolate Brownie £14. Dog friendly and smelled of dog, otherwise would have got a 5. Two toilets, chilly but clean.

Amazing food, good coffee and even though I wouldn’t call it cheap, it is definitely worth the price. Highly recommend the club sandwich

Went for our lunch today My sister is a regular not so much myself I chose Mozzarella Tom & Pesto Salad Presentation was beautiful & it tasted even better. Absolutely fantastic meal & had some lovely chit chat with the Staff I will be back Thank you Narrowgate

The best café in Penrith! Dog friendly and great food. Perfect for a coffee, light bite or something more filling. Regular menu has plenty of choice but they also have daily specials as well. Great service and always welcoming. My go to place for a nice lunch in town

On a very wet day in October we went into the cafe and we were instantly welcomed which made the gloomy day brighter. They moved chairs so that we could sit our yellow Labrador in the cafe and treated him like a star. The food was great and freshly prepared and the cakes to finish made for a glorious day. General ambiance was welcoming and a really good buzz filled the air. We will be back!

Visited the Narrowbar a couple of times, whilst staying in the area. Food was served promptly, and the staff were all attentive and helpful. Social distancing was good, and hand sanitizers were plentiful. Overall, could not be faulted.

I am a bit of a foodie and this was the nicest cooked breakfast I've ever had! Everything was such high quality and cooked to perfection. We had a holiday booked to Penrith for ages and it turned out to be during the eat out...

Highly recommend the club sandwich. Fresh and really tasty. Boys loved their milkshakes and the dog loved her treats and a much needed drink of water. Really friendly staff and covid friendly. A perfect place for lunch.

We visit whenever we can. We've been hiding indoors a lot for a while but now out and about again. The Narrowbar is as excellent as ever. Consistently friendly service. Plenty of variety on the menu and specials board. Never had a duff meal, and they have the knack of getting the coffee just right.

Popped in for a light bite and was certainly not disappointed. Ordered the pea, mint and spring onion soup and if was delicious and homemade.The staff where very polite and friendly. The cafe was extremely clean and appropriate measures where in place and where very surprised when we asked for the bill as they had already deducted the GOV.uk discount . Will definitely recommend and look forward to eating here again.

Been here quite a few times now and every experience has been great! Friendly staff, all sorts of homemade cakes & goodies, lovely coffee.. what more could you want? The chocolate brownie sundae is a match made in heaven. The full English breakfast is always a go-to in the morning, and you can’t beat a jacket potato or panini for lunch! Whether you’re coming for breakfast, lunch or a mid day snack, this is the best place to go in the heart of Penrith.

I have a pet hate about lukewarm coffee and strange-shaped mugs. You have nothing to worry about at the Narrowbar Cafe. The coffee not only tastes great but it is delivered quickly and efficiently, piping hot and in normal looking crockery! A great relief after a stressful shopping session in Penrith!The place would get 5 stars if the personnel were a little more friendly. A smile goes a long way for weary travellers!

Pequeña cafetería encantadora. Visitamos en un día húmedo y ventoso de enero, pero el lugar estaba a tope. Mi esposo pidió una ensalada ploughmans y tuve la ensalada bruschetta de queso de cabra. Ambos estaban deliciosos con mucha ensalada y todos bien vestidos y presentados. Solo algunas críticas menores fueron que la bruschetta era dos rebanadas de queso de cabra derretidas en una rebanada de tostada blanca ordinaria cortada por la mitad en diagonal, que no es lo que pienso de bruschetta y solo había un escaso trozo de jamón en los arados. Dicho esto, ambos disfrutamos nuestras comidas y nos encantaría volver a visitarlo si estamos en la zona

Un día tuvimos sopa y pan hechos en casa, que estaba delicioso, la segunda vez que llamamos teníamos papas al horno con chile y ensalada, que era encantadora, muy bien presentada. We stopped for lunch on our way to holiday in Scotland. It was the perfect little lunch break, sat outside in the sunshine, the service was so friendly and the food was fresh and really tasty. I had the quesadilla special and was sad when it was over!

We stumbled across this while visiting Penrith and also didn’t want to be wandering round for ages trying to find somewhere to eat so settled on here as we were walking past. Dog friendly cafe with beautiful cakes and coffee. We spotted the lovely cafe when staying in Penrith with our two dogs. Staff very friendly, providing biscuits and water for the dogs while we tucked into freshly baked cakes. Had a lot to choose from and everything around us that people were eating looked delicious

It was wonderful to find a cafe that made not only gluten free cakes but also dairy free ones. My husband is gf and I'm df. Gluten cakes are much easier to find but not dairy so I had a really lovely treat. I would really recommend the Narrowbar Cafe

We stumbled across this cafe, was welcomed warmly with out two dogs. Was a great choice , 2 x steak burgers , 1 club sandwich and 1 lamb kofta wrap. All delicious, 4 clean plates .The waitress brought water and biscuits for the dogs. Will definitely be going back to try the cakes when not so full.

We only had drinks so I can't comment on the food. They were overpriced. £2.50 for a can of coke? £4 for an ice cream float? Also, there was no wifi which, these days, isn't really acceptable.

We were really glad that we just managed to find a table on a busy Friday lunch time, as the food was very good. Portion sizes good and quality excellent. Service was good but a bit slow due to the amount of folk ordering at the same time but it was definitely worth the small delay.

£2.50 is not okay for the price of a singular can of Coke Cola. The lattes were nice and hot but honestly, the price for food seemed high and again, £2.50 for a can of Coke is not acceptable.

This cafe is consistently good - we have never had a bad meal here and coffee also great. They cater for intolerances well.

We had lunch here today and it was again really nice. We ordered sandwiches which came with a lovely side salad and coleslaw and some curly fries to share. The food arrived really quickly and the staff were very friendly, would recommend and will eat here again.

spent the day in Penrith found this little cafe as we had our dog with us, what lovely people we had a lovely breakfast and they also made sure our little dog had water and treat , we where so impressed with the friendliness of the staff we went back for lunch food is very nice , that will do our stop in Penrith from now on like its name says it is a narrow bar but well worth going

Tucked away in the centre of town this is a great place for lunch. I have visited many times and not been disappointed. The food is varied and interesting and the staff very helpful. A friend with dairy and gluten intolerance was able to adapt what she ordered to suit her needs without any problems.

Looking for a dog friendly cafe in Penrith we were happy to find this welcoming little place. Had a great bowl of soup with a hot roll. Would certainly return when we come back to Penrith.

We were recently on a flying visit to Penrith. Having stayed in a Travelodge we saw that this was a dog friendly place we could go for breakfast with the pooch. Nice interior. Friendly welcome with table service. Water and treats were offered for the hound which is always a nice personal touch. The sausage sandwiches were excellent - good quality meat and no cash and carry bangers here. Coffee was excellent and strong, as we like it. It's one of those places were we'd be regulars if we lived locally.

Easily, Narrowbar is the best cafe in penrith. Has the most friendly staff and the curly fries are INSANE. me and my family go mostly every weekend and cannot reccomend this place enough. Owners are lovely and all staff are super friendly and make the best food. Go narrowbar you will not be dissapointed!!!

This café is brilliantly located in the very centre of Penrith.

We had coffee and some snacks here just before it closed for the day. The service is excellent and the food are home made. A good place to relax and sip some coffee!

Often pop in for a snack / coffee / breakfast, depends what time of day it is, always very nice with welcoming staff. It's our go to place if we have Vegetarian friends visiting, they too always enjoy the food on offer. If it looks full downstairs there are further tables upstairs so ask the girls or have a look for yourself.

Just got in before closing time for a quick snack and drink. Lovely Lavazza coffee and a good cup of tea. Had a Jammie Dodger Blondie, yes that's right, and the most gorgeous cheese scone and butter ever. Reasonably priced. The menu is not huge, but caters for all tastes and needs. There is a specials board, which I would like to have sampled, but was too late in the day. Had everything my husband hates, but I love. A really great find.

My partner is a coffee conesseur and a vegetarian to boot so finding this cafe was fantastic. He reports the coffee is to die for and my tea was good. He also really enjoyed his veggie breakfast and this is the only cafe he has ever recommended. The staff are really friendly to and everything is good value for money.

Nice atmosphere and accommodating staff who altered the veggie breakfast for us. Hash browns, beans, mushroom, tomatoes, toast and dairy free spread. All very tasty. Highly recommend!

Not being sure where to get a bite, I consulted the trip advisor Oracle and found this cafe. Not disappointed. Delicious Ceasar salad, the management had a jacket with chilli and declared it amazing. The baby had curly fried and chicken goujons and ate the lot. Would thoroughly recommend this place.

I have to admit the soup was lovely coconut & spinach but at £3.60 in a paper cup with a broken lid was abit costly it came with a bread roll which I didn’t really want & would have been nice to have had that pointed out to me so I could have asked for a discount minus bread roll!!! There was also a lot of added coriander which really wasn’t needed!

I've been working in Penrith for a few weeks now and the Narrowbar Café is without a doubt the best lunch spot in town. It is a little on the pricey side, but you can be assured the food is delicious, and fresh. Plenty of tables inside too.Highly recommend.
