Lovely, friendly service, the savoury tea was delicious. The servers were so chatty and helpful and the prices were really reasonable.

Came here with the kids not expecting too much however to my surprise it was a lovely spot with amazing customer service despite the lengthy wait for food, I would rate the Museum Café an outstanding 4.5😍😜🩷🤩🌊🌴🤗🫂🇬🇧

Homemade cakes, hot lunches plus a friendly welcome, definitely worth popping into! Say hi to Barbara and Phil who have made it a great space to rest in between museum exhibits or even just visit if you are in the area.

Museum cafes can often be a little disappointing, with exorbitant prices aimed at a captive audience (you major national museums in London know who I mean!) This one is different. Nice, basic food and drink at extremely reasonable prices. It is rather tucked in a corner so is not large but never became full on the couple of times we visited.

Called in here for lunch while visiting the museum. Small menu of home made food. We had 2 paninis and one soup (parsnip and apple - YUM!). Then a pot of tea. It was very quiet and comfortable. Call in if you're passing

This is small but is good. They have gluten free cakes and alternative milk if needed. Positioned on the ground floor and close to toilets.

There is a simple menu which is cooked to order. The service is friendly and the cook is willing to please. She will accept requests and cook the food how you like it.

food was good when it (eventually) arrived but I'd avoid unless it's just for a coffee sort of thing. Take sarnies or plan your museum visit not to include lunchtime.

oh dear, I have included a review of this restaurant with the museum but never mind it is worth making another mention. There are two specialities of this cafe restaurant, one is coffee and cakes, and the other is soups. In addition, up to 80 people are served on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when they have special social events for senior people. There are 32 covers but they do have more tables and chairs to accommodate up to 36 people. The lady owner is injecting new ideas not the least of which are new ideas for soup. I can unhesitatingly recommend this place; you never know what new ideas she will introduce for a lunch and I can guarantee good quality of home cooking and a reasonable price

Had a great meal here. Jackie the new owner is really friendly and can't do enough for you. The food is homemade so she knows exactly what ingredients are in each dish, great if you have allergies. Main meals are around £5 mark and licensed as well so you can enjoy a tipple. I had the macaroni cheese bake and it came with side salad and a crusty roll. You can access the café without visiting the museum as well which is good.

Excellent light meals. Cafe is under new management and has had a turn around. The menu offers more choice and the food is hot, delicious and good value.

The café is a cosy place to enjoy a drink or snack before, during or after a visit to the Museum. The ice cream was delicious. There are seats outside if the weather is fine. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you.

Went for a browse round museum other day and a coffee and light snack at museum cafe. All I can say is what a terrible day it turned out to be. A crying baby in cafe with a child looking after it a most miserable woman serving teas and a foul mouthed woman in kitchen. All I could hear was the baby crying and her shouting I do not know what the head of the museum is doing allowing a baby and child to even be in the cafe when customers are and should be the priority. Keep away if you value your sanity. I will not return and will tell others not to visit the cafe or museum all you hear is baby crying and vile language. Go to Abbey instead.

At the Museum for most of the 'Activity' day with my daughter. Hot chocolate and cake to start. A lot of thought and care had been taken in the Halloween themed cakes; but they were rather sweet.

Stumbled across this cafe on a rainy day in Torquay. Could not have been more surprised with the food on offer, particularly the homemade cakes and roast dinners. The food was simply outstanding and at typical cafe prices, I could not have been more impressed!! See you again soon!

First of all I start with the positive. The food was lovely that was it. However if you have autism or anxiety don't bother going in here. For me Iike going out to places and keep myself to myself. I will often wear my ear buds or headphones to shut myself off. Interacting with people can be difficult. Obviously I spoke to the lady on the counter who was nice to order food. That bit was fine. I then sat down to keep myself to myself. Fine brought the food put. That was fine. Like I said I then had my headphones on where I prefer not to be interrupted. That's my way of blocking things out. I should be allowed to do that. Not I need to explain this but due to my situation I hate people approaching me when I have something like headphones on. It should a sign or signal to say I don't want to talk at the moment. I hate being caught off guard. So one of the waitresses came over offered to take my plate. I said I'm still using it. I thought I would be left alone after that. Shortly after the "owner" came over and asked the same question. I explained I don't like to be interupted and I was trying to listen to my music. I just thought it would have been obvious I didn't want to talk. I prefer not being bombarded after I have already paid. The "owner" then sacarcastcally apologied "I'm sorry about that love" and said "go somewhere else if you don't like it" which is highly unprofessional. Well he bumped into the wrong person. All I was doing is minding my own business. I have had a lot of things to process and prefer to be quiet at times. As for the "owner" you need to be educated on people with behaviour challenges. Every day its a challenge for someone like me. I then went up to the counter to explain that I'm on the autism spectrum and that I wear headphones to block things out for then for the lady with glasses basically saying first of all its a cafe and a social thing so basically have to interact with people. I then reiterated that I don't have to interact with people and I have my headphones on to basically keep myself to myself. The lady then had the cheeke to turn round and say I didn't have proof like a landyard. Why should advertise who I am. You don't ask that sort of question. Its not my fault people like them aren't educated on hidden disorders. It doesn't surprise me that there is not enough emphasis on this still but it makes me angry! I will not be coming back until it changes hands. Shocking service.

This place is more like a social experience than a café, in keeping the ethos of it's charitable background. We were way out of season and it's fairly well off the main beaches in a bit of a cul de sac of the riviera seafront so we suspect it's all very different in the high season. On New Year's Eve it was more like being invited to a family and friends get together than walking into a commercial establishment - apart from the paying bit obviously, but even that wasn't too painful!

Lovely food for lunch. Was just very shocked when I took my 7 year anniversary of granddaughter to the loo… on the wall were 2 vending machines, both selling ‘sex toys’? I had to answer some questions from her. I do find it hard to understand why the need in a local pub which is geared towards family friendly as there are great outdoor games outside. Very worrying for our young people to think these items are ‘normal’
