A friendly pub. Service is great people are wonderful. If you visit Torquay check out this pub!

Was down on holiday for a few days popped in with the dogs people were coming up to say hi dogs got excited and barked a few times like 99.9% of dogs do. We walked in the next day and a member of staff called out them dog's aren't ganna be barking again in the pub are they. Found it very rude and very unprofessional.

Popped in earlier for an off the cuff pint, friendly service, good atmosphere and very reasonable prices 👍🏻

Sat watching the air show in the beer garden . Staff are lovely , especially Ollie who was so polite and helpful. Amazing place definitely coming back

Very rude bar staff member called Oliver shouted across the pub to me and my family when we walked in to get food. NO children allowed in the pub after 7 pm. It’s not like they were young teenagers or smaller they were late teenagers 17 and 18 years of age. He rudely asked for ID. they said we had no identification. He refused to serve us food, or even a Pepsi.

Bar staff were efficient. Landlord not the friendliest and bordering on rude. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.

Had a great time here. Looking forward to the next time ⭐✅

We were staying locally and popped in most evenings during our Torquay week. It's a local and we found it friendly and safe such that my wife was happy to go ahead of me if I was delayed.

First visit and WOW a proper pub at last. Good service and a great pint ...will definately make this my local..moved nearby and looking fir a proper but and hey presto we found it...

A very friendly place to have a drink. The owners are brilliant, friendly & always helpful. No other place i would go to. Drinks are priced just right, entertainment every weekends. Never been disappointed everytime I've been.

Enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon watching the rugby with the locals. A warm welcome and a good priced pint. Pity about the rugby result though. Will go back next time in Torquay.

Myself and my granddaughter went to the Lansdowne in Torquay on Saturday night, there was live music on which was brilliant and we had a great time dancing all night. The bar staff were friendly thank you for a lovely evening , it was a busy public house the locals seemed to be accepting of newcomers. All in all a very good night

I don't normally like to bad review places, but this place left such a better taste in the mouth that i ended up walking out and going to a better pub and spending my money there. DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB! IT IS NOT WHAT IS USED TO BE! Used to be a major hang out for my friends and I back when south Devon collage was still located in Torquay, figured I'd visit for old times sake, wish I never did, the landlady has the place under a very tyrannical negative atmosphere. The landlady was getting Violent without justification, she seemed to single out a group with learning disabilities and escalated a situation by being rude, confrontation and aggressive. The landlady should sell up and leave or just quit. she has the type of Temperament you see Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares when he did Amy's backing company, only this got violent and it was lacking Gordon Ramsay and had even less logic and reason behind it, Sadly it's gone to the pits because the land lady has a very big, rude, grumpy Disability discriminatory chip on her shoulder.

Called in here on a Saturday afternoon for a couple of drinks, good atmosphere, plenty sport on the TV, very friendly staff and great value, would definitely call back in if in the area

Myself and my wife visited the bar during our stay at the Tor Park Hotel . We where welcomed by Scott And Emma on every visit we made . Ideally located from the hotel, excellent service by all staff and locals, who greeted you as a friend and not as a stranger, which was very welcoming and not something you get in a lot of other bars . They have a great selection of drinks, and very reasonably price’s. We certainly enjoyed ourselves on the 4 days we visited, and will definitely be back again as soon as we can. Nice friendly local pub. Staff work hard and engage and make you feel welcome Value prices. Can get full on sporting events. Only one I will go to around Torre these days.

Could not have felt more welcome, FA cup final Saturday was friendly with loads of banter. Locals happy to chat with you and not stare as I found in other pubs. Scott (Landlord) friendly and very welcoming and has been in charge since December. Loads off choice on draught, and top shelf. I cannot say enough about the lansdown, was here for 3 nights and spent 2 evenings there and many others pubs a little closer. Thanks Scott and all bar staff, and locals for making myself and wife felt welcome.

Reported by our guide as the safest pub for strangers to drink in as it is opposite the police station, I had a good experience here and the prices were great compared to other outlets.

Good cheap beer ,plenty televised sports

This pub has been took over by new management , and the atmosphere is lovely! The interior is very welcoming, and It’s very spacious. They have 8 tvs, with all sports on. Also great juke box. The drinks selection is very good, and drinks / are very cheap,(compared to town prices!), also double up on all top shelf for a pound.. The staff are very welcoming to all locals and visitors.. and it’s 5 minutes from the town centre. Highly recommend.(

Brilliant atmosphere and come back life

The staff and people make the place. Couldn't say anything bad, laughed the whole day. Good crowd and staff. Multiple large tv's so horseracing and footie was on, pool table. I read another review that said no atmosphere well I would say the complete opposite, it's one of those places that if you didn't know anyone and went in alone you'd be made welcome as I was even though not my local.

Great place, we're not local but called in here about 3 times between Christmas and New year and found it really friendly, made to feel like one of the locals, was comfortable very reasonable in price and very spotless. Defo be adopting The Lansdowne has our local when we visit Torquay again in the summer, miss it already.

Only found this place on the last night of our stay. Was quite busy, cheaper drinks than the pub's nearby and in Torquay. Also had sports on the Tele.

As far as the pub trade is going you'd think that owners of a pub would be welcoming. You can tell from the outside compared to other places that it might not look inviting but inside its ok . The only reason we went in there is because its near our guest house. Last night was OK had a couple of drinks , Left later on fine enjoyed it nothing against the two bar staff .they're fine ..Tonight the dragon woman gave us a blunt welcome because my mask was broken and I didn't have it on properly . And then she gets up and walks to the bar without a mask cos she's exempt 🤔🤔🤔 what cos your miserable and you only like the everyday alcoholic locals 👏👏👏

Great beer and friendly service

I had been recommended this pub a few times by different people on my last couple of visits to Torquay. I eventually visited in June 2021. Glad I went in, as you have to try different places. But i felt that there was no atmosphere at all, the choice of Ales was Doom Bar, and that was it....the lagers were not inspiring either. Hoped to stay for pints but quickly drank up and moved on. Will not return. Not recommended.

Very friendly staff and efficient service

I visited on Friday evening and the pub was full. A friendly girl behind the bar offered me a place in the garden until a place in the pub became available.I accepted and half an hour later I asked how things were and another nice girl from behind the bar showed me to a table. After about 10 minutes, the landlady confronted me and told me I shouldn’t have occupied the table! I explained that I had been shown to the table by a member of her staff! She then told me that I had agreed to sit in the garden, I told her that I had until a place became available in the pub. She was very rude and was very much in the wrong. It’s not even a nice pub!

Quick and efficient staff who apply the Covid rules firmly but without being overbearing. Beers are well looked after and the taste shows it.

Dirty pub.Very rude landlord to customers in the pub. Toilets are very dirty in the ladies. Social distancing not being followed by the owners.

Recommended by guest house we were staying at, very reasonably priced drinks in a nice pub but we weren’t made to feel very welcome by some with being shouted at to sanitise & fill in track & trace forms, we know what to do.. that being said the barman was nice & friendly A pub better suited to locals

It's a traditional pub and has never pretended to be anything else. Always felt welcome here and totally relaxed.

On holiday in Torquay and visited this establishment on numerous occasions. It hasn't changed a bit since my last visit. Still has that old English pub charm.

This is a great local pub. Very well done out. It is a very friendly local pub as well. Prices are very good and you can spend a very long time here. You will come back a lot as well. They are located a cross from the main police station. So do not expect them to stay open very long after closing time.
