A decent local pub but we have never eaten here.

It mentions friendly welcome as you enter this pub. Lady behind bar certainly didn't provide this and I was charged £4.50 for half pint of Otter Head beer. This was either very expensive or an over charge. I also overheard two customers referring to their service as 'rude'.

All in all a decent meal, did ask for 4 roast chickens, but got 4 turkeys, as apparently they didn't have any chicken 🤔 Also forgot my Yorkie, did bring it out after I mentioned it was missing.

This could be great but some clientele had obviously been there all day, on more than one occasion. Pity.

I've eaten Sunday roasts in so many Devon pubs I genuinely can't remember them all, most of which are 'foodie pubs' and many 'award-winning', but few compare to the roast I had in the Dolphin yesterday; most pubs let down on something, usually the spuds or gravy, but the Dolphin doesn't disappoint. Lovely meat, perfectly cooked veg, homemade Yorkshire pudding, crisp roast spuds and proper gravy. Absolutely delicious and for under a tenner - amazing! No idea how they do it but they do - 10/10 - very highly recommended.

I make no apologies for my earlier review which I have since deleted. Hospitality deserves better. Much improved appearance and refreshed inside. Excellent and well kept real ales, in particular the 5.3% Otter Head. Exceptional value all round. Friendly and cheerful bar lady. Doggy friendly. Pub grub available. Regular live music in the evening. Popular with locals. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Went in here for quiz night on Thursday was good and was on my own and a couple of locals helps me do the quiz was ok... Not had food in here but I have had their coffee which weren't that great as not strong enough for my liking was more like favoured water...

I have to say never have coffee or tea in a pub never have I had a good one... I've had the best coffee in the bamboo cafe around the corner from here which I would recommend and recommend the management of the dolphin to try in order to bring their teas and coffee's up to date with the quality on offer. The food actually isn't ad bad as some of the reviews as a local im seen this pub live though the ups and downs as it was once a very rough pub in torquay. This is more friendly now than what it once was. The pool a lil in the wrong place as its on the way out to the beer garden. My pet hate is the facts they allow dogs in pubs that serve food as I did food safety and food hygiene and was told when I first did this that it only takes one dog hair to comtanate food in the kitchen. I wouldn't order food in places when staff stroke dogs and unknown to the public whether they wash hands after as seen this happen in a butcher just up the road from the dolphin where this actually happened so it's buyer beware. This is a polite pub and I love St Mary chruch I just wish people I.e members of public didn't feel the need to take their dogs everywhere. I have seen so many time people not even cleaning up after their dogs and this is something that both the pub and dog owners should consider when having members of the public not so keen to eat around them.

The Dolphin is a comfortable down to earth pub.The food is fantastic.The Sunday Lunch is fabulous and great value for money.

It seemed popular with the locals.. a gent came up for a chat .. an interesting gent who told us some good stories about bands and music.. his name was Rocking Ken 😁 he gave me his card. I went to the Dolphin yesterday for a Sunday roast with my family and oh my days I was absolutely shocked. The beef was so juicy and succulent. The roast potatoes were crispy, crunchy but soft in the middle. The gravy was so flavorful that it nearly knocked me back, and the vegetables were fresh and had that Al dente bite to them. The service was impeccable, I was greeted, seated and served with a smile and precision. I cannot fault anything about my families experience there. Will most definitely be coming again for the Sunday roast, however I also look forward to sampling the rest of the menu and their culinary delights 😊

I went to this pub with my friends and partner, let's just say I left feeling very upset and disappointed! So I was in the beer garden and i sat down on the chair to be started on my a woman, I was questioning her asking what I had done wrong but she constantly shouting at me aswell as her friends trying to pick a fight with me. I actually found out this was the landlord of the pub (the owner) (her name is hayley i believe) as she was saying.... quote "I own this f-ing pub, i will kick you out" it was quite clearly her day off and she was absolutely drunk out her mind picking fights with customers and involving her friends. She eventually decided to kick me out of the pub for no reason what so ever apart from she felt she had the power to, embarrassing me inform of a load of people. So yes I didn't have a great experience at this pub what so ever and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless your cool with being started on for no reason by staff.

We were visiting Torquay for Bank Holiday weekend. Seen this place so we tried and definitely didn't regretted it. The food was absolutely beautiful. I had chicken burger and my partner had beef burger. It was delicious the service was quick and friendly. Definitely will return when in area.

Dropped on for a drink before going to a match at Torquay United. Obviously very busy but we were served quickly. A nice pint of Otter. Being a Saturday there was football being shown on the big screens around the pub. A nice atmosphere.

A very pleasant traditional pub. It is well run and has a friendly atmosphere. There is a menu with a good choice of food and the helpings are generous. Dogs are allowed in.

On Behalf of the Torbay Veterans Club a massive thank you to all the team at the Dolphin Inn for hosting us on Armistice Day 11 Nov 2022. Your diligence attention to detail, friendliness to all members was 2nd to none and you gave us a fantastic welcoming. The buffet provided was outstanding and represented great value for our money and just sorry we could not eat it all, but we had a good go. Sarge

Excellent food, good juke box. Pool table. Good selection ales. Good value first Thursday and last Thursday of the month over 55's. Good choice to choose from.

Lovely example of a local pub welcoming to everyone. Situated halfway along the pedestrian shopping precinct. Serves good value food all week and always has an excellent selection of real ales. Has sport TVs around the bar and a pool table. There is a nice outside seating area as well.

So first coming here and we all went outside as it was a very hot day There was a little girl out side playing with a pool ball it dropped on the floor and landed in dog poo I looked at the lady and said ure little one is touching dog poor the lady said she's not my child and I don't no who she belongs to but she keeps coming over to play , the little girl came over to me wanting to play I was trying to enjoy a quite drink with my family but I played for abit the little girl started pulling at her nappy as she was very wet and looked uncomfortable the lady behind the bar came out she called the little girl I then said , she's very wet and she touched the dog poo on the floor she said oh ok and that was it so really we came to have drinks and have a nice meal but become someone's babysitter. The child was then banging the ball about the place when people are trying to eat she then was dragging a poor dog about the slamming doors. The mother final came out and took her in stuck her back kn the pram then sat bk at the bar lots of people were making comments about the child and parent skills. The meal we had was not beer batted fish we was told the cheef has gone to lidl to get more fish omg I might as well bought it and cooked it at home . Sorry but not a place I would go back to unless they will give my meal for free or pay me to look after there child

Good pub, plenty of room but doesn't serve Thatchers (naughty). Looking forward to returning soon.

Love the dolphins, always place the sport on the tv whatever it is. Got a local feel to it The bar burger is a great touch when you just want a snack.

I went in the daytime so the full ambience was minimal " The pub itself is smart & clean but the toilets are criminal" I don't understand the layout of these toilets at all" So to the owner I think on them you should recall" That aside they smelt good & hygiene wise seemed spot on" The Barman/owner a family man I see" Was very welcoming & friendly to all & me" I Must say the crisps are to die for" The wine was delicious so I had 4. Haha The dolphin has always been ( I think) a great part of the st.marychurch area" It's more refined now than when i was a wee whipper snapper terrier" It used to be a bit rough when I was young" Had a kids area out back ,glad that was hung" Respectable place Prices? The norm Have a pool table Big outdoor area ( summers on way ) Food? I think if you are coming to the bay as a family DEFFO GO TO THE DOLPHIN. Dogs are allowed In which is rare nowadays THAT WAS A MUST FOR ME so come on come visit the Dolphin and see
