As a celiac, this place is paradise - 4 draught beers to choose from, and delicious food. staff are friendly, atmosphere buzzing. Just moved to Brighton and can already tell I'll be spending a lot of time here. Update: turns out all the pubs here serve tons of gluten free beer

The pub seemed lovely my partner had been before. I've never written a review in my life but you know what it's kept me up the last two nights thinking about how outraged I am. I said to the staff can I have the closest curry to a korma the staff seemed lovely at this point. I receive a curry with 7 chillies in it my partner tries aswell and it was flaming hot not just me! Inedible the spice and I like spice. As we're on a date I give my partner a kiss. Get told by the male staff member to stop kissing. Homophobia at its finest I did not expect this from a Brighton pub!!!! Would never go back and let's this be a warning to any gay couple please don't support this business.

I had heard good things about the Thai food from friends, and I already knew about the great beer selection, so I headed there last night before going to The Dome. 6pm and the pub was heaving, but we found a table for two. We placed our order for a selection of 5 starters, and I was more than pleasantly surprised that it didn't cost more than £50, with two pints as well. We had an apology that the food might take a little while, as a large order that just been placed and food is all cooked to order. In my book, a 30 minute wait for piping hot, fantastically tasting food is not an inconvenience. We will be going back again.

The Slavic man with the moustache and curly hair was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We spoke about the Romans and he showed me a photo of his cat. The service was impeccable. Reference: Friday day time. Will go again when next visiting the area.

We booked a table at 16:30 and when we got there we ordered food. The roast took more than one hour to come. The potatoes were burnt, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt, they offered more gravy and then they come back to say they didn’t have. Horrible service, horrible experience. We will not come back and we don’t recommend this place.

- Nice Atmosphere - Visited for some drinks with friends. This pub was inviting, and not too busy with plenty of seating available. This pub also has a nice atmosphere. It benefits from a very central location, and most buses into the city stop a short distance away on Old Steine. I had a Diet Coke and was a little disappointed as it tasted like a low-end supermarket variety and didn't taste like one of the main brands. Also, I found the seating a little worn and uncomfortable. However, the venue was clean, and staff were helpful.

Friendly staff, good beer selection 👍 Update after a year.... Can't say much about rooms still. Beer selection: perfect. Each time different, and always something new to discover.

Great value authentic thai. This is a really nice pub with a real good value thai menu, main meal just under £10.had Prawn pad thai which had generous portion of really nice king prawns , lovely balance of flavour and lovely presentation. Will be back😀

If you're going to close the kitchen whenever you fancy, don't post the times on your website. Otherwise you'll get hangry people who have walked specifically here to eat leaving bad reviews.

Lovely queer staff. Great service and great quiz on a Wednesday. My mates had the Thai food and they said it was great.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Just not worth going in. I Noticed after sitting down that a review dated 3rd July 22 was exactly how I felt I have copied and am posting it in pictures for you. Today we thought we would go in and see if it had food available. I say that because one Sunday last year I was taking my Daughter and her partner out for Sunday lunch booked this place and when we got there I was told they had been busy all they had was One beef the rest could have chicken, we didn’t stay we we went to the Cricketers in the lanes. So I thought even though I was cross last year as we were walking past we would try. We ordered out food two lamb, and two drinks, one was a G&T. I wasn't asked if I had a preference, nor indeed was there any option over the tonic. It was put straight into the glass from a pump. Far too much, the gin was undetectable, when I asked what gin was in the glass I was told “our house gin” I said it was awful where upon I was told I was very rude. I do not think I have ever suffered such very bad service, the three staff behind the bar were only interested in their own conversation, and smirking at me, when I was told we could not move table. We were going to sit at a table but we were told that it was booked and there was not time to eat before the next people came. ( Indeed there was time the table remained empty along with another one except for 5 minutes when three people came had a quick drink and left ( As I wish we had). I’m not sure if the owner who I understand is Laura Karim was in the pub and was a party to the service if so it would be even worse. I wish I had looked it up while in the pub. There was a table in the corner which had two stools but because it was in the corner it was not even suitable to have a pint at never mind a meal. We moved to another similar but not in a corner, it was almost touching the next table indeed one of the occupants of the next table kept getting up and down and each time brushed against me, very annoying. The tables available just held two plates touching, and no room for anything else. I was very impressed (not)with the two serviettes that we were given, cheap single ply. The smallest side thimble of mint sauce Ive ever seen which if you view the pictures was almost black!!! While waiting for the food to arrive I looked around the place. If you go in have a look at the dust on the brass chandelier, along with the others over the bar. I hope the kitchen is cleaner. I took pictures if you zoom in you will see what I mean. The food arrived looked good The very thick neck of lamb was in fact well cooked, so to were the carrots, and the green beans. The Broccoli was so hard I was unable to cut it so too may partner. The roast potatoes were very dry. The Yorkshires were solid. The further sad thing was that the entire plate was swimming in sauce, a very bland thin sauce, when I say swimming I really mean that, so if you don’t like a lot your stuffed you have to eat it as the cook provides (why no jug). I am retired now, I have been in the hotel and catering business all my life actually owning my own hotels, this was a disgrace in my view. I have eaten better food with much more professional staff in a carvery. This was valued in my view at £12 for the two just to cover the heating and lighting, and the slice of lamb.. I have decided to sit and write this mainly because of the service they were only bothered about chatting. Would I try again, NEVER nor would I recommend at all. I realise this is just pub food but at £18 for each lunch they need to train their staff and understand the hospitality business. I will post this also on google as it is essential that others understand what this place is all about.

So it looks like a pub. Inside you’re sure you’re in a pub. Then you take the pub menu… then you’re confused… it’s not a pub…it’s a Thai Restaurant pretending to be a pub!!! Then you order you food thinking well it’s inexpensive must be microwaved ready meals. Then it happens a banquet of food and flavours arrive and you’re transported back to Bangkok! Fabulous food fantastic atmosphere great staff we will be back!

Another visit to the wonderful Mucky Duck in Brighton. Spectacular roast, welcoming atmosphere and fab service. We love it here whether for Yhai or roast and is a major factor in us visiting Brighton from London as often as we do. We held a post wedding day roast here and even 2 years on, friends and family still rave about their "best roast ever"

Best Sunday roast in Brighton! Absolutely delicious in every way, succulent meats, super fresh veggies and the best Yorkshire puddings I’ve ever tasted. Huge portions. Keeps me coming back for more!

Traditionally woody pub but chic inside, Thai food in the week, big roasts on a Sunday.

Well, what can I say about the Sunday roast I had here yesterday. It’s the best meal I’ve had out for a very long time. Huge portion, perfectly cooked meat, delicious veg, gravy was out of this world and the cauliflower cheese just delicious. If you are thinking of heading to the Duck for a Sunday roast, do not hesitate. Shame I’m from out of town but will definitely be back.

Great little pub hidden in the back streets of Brighton. Staff are great, really friendly and happy to be there. Really makes you feel welcome.

Had to go into town on an errand with the wife. A friend of hers had recommended The Mucky Duck so we gave it a go. I had the duck spring rolls and pad Thai with pork, she had a peanut dish with tofu. Very very good. Great service, nice music, we will return

Went here after djing a wedding in Brighton.. They had a great dj who played one of my fave Elastica tunes amongst an eclectic mix of new wave, techno, indie and rock..the bar was busy, buzzing but also had board games like guess who. Like to go back as really close to the beach and lanes. Perfect booze up spot pre or afters

Nice atmosphere, good food including their Sunday roasts. Friendly staff and a good range of ales. Negatives - erm, well the loo is down a fairly steep flight of stairs and the outside space in limited but still worth a visit,

Lovely pub with great Thai food! Good range of dishes, well made. I had the tofu stir fry and my partner has the beef massaman curry and we were very happy with both. Happy hour offers available and dog friendly.

Went here today for lunch as the Thai kitchen formerly at the St James has moved here. Nice pint of IPA for me, an Aspells for my wife. and some excellent Thai food. Starters were Salt and Pepper Squid and Duck Spring Rolls. Followed by two Pad Thais (one mixed and one chicken). Couple of other dishes. All very good. Will deffo be back.

Had a nice Sunday afternoon in here with a couple of friends the young lady behind the bar was a big help with the drink choices when we were having a bit of an experiment 🍹 was having such a nice time we missed a couple of busses to a family bbq so next time we will have to stay a bit longer and eat there too thanks for looking after us

We were looking for somewhere for a Sunday roast and happened across the Mucky Duck. Simple menu of meat options or veg, with all your usual roast additions. I had the lamb and pork mix and my wife had the beef - both plates were packed. Loads of meat and veg, plenty of gravy and a side of pigs in blankets to go with. The quality of the meat was brilliant and cooked really well. The cooked beetroot on the plate was a nice surprise and very tasty. The only reason I haven’t given this 5/5 is because they didn’t have a high chair and the yorkshires weren’t homemade. Staff were great and the selection of beers was brilliant. All in all, a top roast!

Called in on a Friday to see what this pub was all about . Quite large inside , not a very intimate environment, very much a drinkers pub .. groups of people all involved in their own company, quite a difficult environment to meet the locals, and chat . Great for sitting and people watching lol

Visited on a Friday night having reserved a table. It is unpretentious with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was amazing and really good value. Definitely worth trying - fresh and varied ingredients presented attractively, cooked by a Thai couple. Thank you to Flo and team for a great evening! The food was really nice. I tried the pork chicken mixed rice noodle was really good. Loved it.

Lashing cold November rain and a rapidly darkening sky, we decided to duck into The Mucky Duck for a pint or two and some warmth. What a great find. A smattering of regulars at the bar putting the world to rights, we settled in the corner with our beers and had a game of dominoes and Scrabble, both from the selection of games available to borrow. OK, it’s not fancy, but we felt cosy and enjoyed our visit.

DELICIOUS Thai menu, very friendly, upbeat and welcoming staff AND dog friendly, will definitely be coming back here, if not for the environment and talented chef then because my dog loved the plate they prepared for him, I'm sure he'll be dragging us back

Absolutely amazing Thai food! We couldn't try the Sunday roast, but guests at the neighbouring table recommended it vividly. Plus, the staff were so friendly with our wild table-climbing 4-year old, and his extra wishes (cucumber only please 🤣) If you're in Brighton, do yourself a favour and plan an evening there!

Had a roast dinner here after watching a football match. It was really good. Large portion size, had vegan/vegetarian options.

What a charming boozer! Just a short walk from the pier, the Mucky Duck has a great local atmosphere, a wide range of beers – and the guys behind the bar make a wonderful Bloody Mary to take the edge off on a Sunday morning. Called in, post-half-marathon, and was really impressed with the beef roast, one of the best I’ve ever had – and keenly priced at well under £20. Highly recommended!

One of my favourite spots in Brighton! Staff are always so attentive and welcoming and never fail to put a smile on your face. Food is exceptional especially on the Sunday when they do their Sunday roast, the pork belly I had last time was to dream for. Could do with a bigger tv however?

Visited yesterday for a birthday celebration booked by a friend, and unfortunately we had a disappointing experience. We arrived to find the party of 15 was split across two tables, not uncommon for a Pub but we had hoped to be told in advance of this. When we arrived there was no real contact from staff, no cutlery given until the last minute, and only after 50 minutes did they tell us upon enquiring that they were waiting for us to tell them to put the food through. Again, absolutely fine, but a quick communication when we arrived would have solved this. Food had all been ordered in advance and yet the person whose birthday it was still had to stand at the bar going through the order, and it still then came out wrong with an extra Lamb roast dinner. They then tried to charge us for this, and it took us taking over and going through the bill for them to show it was in fact just the single Lamb roast which they already knew was an error! Staff were all taking shots behind the bar, and perhaps this muddied their maths skills. Food was fine, the broccoli was completely uncooked and couldn’t even get a knife through, the vegan wellington was pleasant, and some of the veg was very nice (carrots, green beans) but roasties were quite tasteless sadly. Food took forever to arrive and was SO staggered that some of our party had finished by the time the last plate came out. Again, okay but let us know if the kitchen can’t do 15 covers in good time. Add to this the complete lack of interest by staff (no checking how the food was, or if we needed anything), staff putting the Rugby on a huge TV directly above our heads and having to be asked to turn the volume down, and the general attitude of staff (catty comments, rudeness and no apology after accusing us of not paying properly) we unfortunately won’t be returning. A real shame as clearly this Pub can be great when all is well, but staff seemed confused/emotional/hungover yesterday and this really affected the experience.

We recently visited the Bella Italia restaurant and were very pleased with our meals, we had a VoucherCode for 30% off so we ended up with four starters, mains and deserts for under £100 so we’re very pleased with the lovely food and value for money. The restaurant itself is a little small and cramped, but the excellent service by the staff made up for it. They were constantly whizzing around and didn’t stop as the restaurant was busy, however it was always done with friendliness and professionalism. We would certainly visit again!

Menu was all Thai based and was fresh and tasty. We ordered starters: Spicy Calamari, Veg Gyozi, and Spring Rolls. Mains: Red Thai Curry with coconut rice, Penang Curry with coconut rice, and Pad Thai. I'm looking forward to my next return.

We wandered in for a visit this week, on our first trip down to Brighton. Our original plan had been to watch the football, but we were pleasantly surprised to find there was a quiz on that night! The quiz was lots of fun, and the quizmaster was really personable and friendly. Questions were tricky, but there were lots of cool different rounds - some we'd never encountered before, so that was a nice surprise and a fun change. All in all, was a lovely evening in a nice setting.

Charm and atmosphere of an traditional pub in a good location.

Popped down to Brighton to visit friends and had no idea where to drink. Found this little gem with super friendly bar staff and lovely food. Staff were very knowledgeable about their products. and made us feel welcome straight away. Plenty of places to sit and talk, not too noisy and even board games in the corner. Definitely would visit again next time we’re down.

Little back street pub in Brighton, only had the one as only down here for the night and wanted have a look around unfortunately the weather limited that but can't fault the muddy duck.. Will visit again when down here, that's if the council get rid of the ridiculous charging of parking till 8pm..

Sunday roast, potatoes were stale/hard. Veg was fresh and crunchy, lamb was a small portion, gravy watery, Yorkshire pud, nothing amazing, came an hour after ordering which was too long. I used to love coming here but since they stopped roasts and then brought them back in September, it's just not the same. Staff are lovely as is the venue. My score is on the food alone

Nice pub, with a bit 'rugged', saloon-like atmosphere (plain wood, instead of the usual pluche and velvet upholsterings). Friendly staff. Pity they didn't serve pub food when we visited (on a Monday evening). But the beers and nuts were great. Would come back
