Popped in last night for the first time for a mates birthday. Food was excellent, staff even better, and the whole vibe was spot on. 10/10 will definitely be back!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! It was easily one of the best meals my husband and I have ever had, along with the service and friendliness of the staff being head and shoulders above most places you go to. We both enjoy trying different BBQ/burger places and so when visiting Brighton for the day from Hertfordshire we scouted this places out, and we are soooo glad we did! We ordered the big smokes platter along with beef short rib so we could try a range of what they offer, and we were not disappointed. The beef brisket is hands down the best brisket we’ve tried, everything had so much flavour and was cooked to perfection. The smoke rings achieved were phenomenal and my personal highlight of everything was the burnt butter mash, it was out of this world! Not sure whether it’s a hidden gem for locals, but for us it felt that way with the atmosphere and being away from the bustle of the front. If we were local it would become our local! The two bar staff were so friendly as soon as we walked in, genuinely seemed like they enjoy their jobs, happy to offer suggestions, and really made our visit ☺️ Towards the end we were speaking to a woman who we think may be the manager along with her husband who focusses on the kitchen, it was so lovely to chat and find out a bit more about the place. We will 100% return on our next visit, just wished we lived closer!

Great local, lovely staff and theost incredible tasting BBQ food you have ever eaten. So worth a visit - tip order the day ahead to guarantee you get what you want, they do cook it for a LONG time 😁

Had an amazing time with my girlfriend and my friends. The food was outstanding. Arguably the best BBQ food in brighton. Everything was so succulent and tender and presented amazingly. Great atmosphere wether you're on a date or out with friends. All the staff were so friendly and inviting. Very impressed with the speed of the service as well seeing as the place was very busy at the time. Overall would definitely reccomend paying a vist.

What a lovely pub and some of the best bbq food I've had in UK. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, proper pub vibe and that cooking was really excellent. The publicans run the smoker all night and the brisket, links, ribs were all delicious. The wings were crispy with perfect buffalo sauce. The cauliflower wings and burnt butter mash a must to try. Can't recommend highly enough.....I'll be back v soon

My friends and I went to this lovely pub on a Saturday and we received such warm and thoughtful service. We had arrived at 1ish pm, unaware that food service only begins from 2pm. The chef (owner too?) very nicely informed us about this and even suggested other nearby pubs to get some grub from if we were famish and couldn't wait - it was such a kind and humbling gesture to have our interests put before their profit! She even thought to take our trio's order first before that of a larger gathering, so that it wouldn't be queueing behind a large order. Foodwise..gosh the bbq platter was amazing! Much thanks to the chef and staff for a wonderful experience!! Will be telling my friends all about this place!

Went at Christmas to try the BBQ food and it didn’t disappoint… friendly staff and cosy pub.. the food was great. We had the short Rib Tacos and a sharing platter special. Brighton seems to be lacking a proper bbq spot and this one is picking up the slack for sure! Bravo all at the Argyle Arms and Kitchen crew 👌🏼 (Sadly the pictures are of a demolished platter as we couldn’t wait to tuck in)

I do like this pub, they have some nice beers, board games and of course good ol' toads

Cosy pub with excellent food, wonderful relaxed atmosphere, and very friendly staff. We had the best smoked brisket we've experienced outside of Texas, perfect for a homesick Houstonian around the holidays. Will definitely be back again when next in the area!

Had a bbq platter with my mates, top quality food, reasonably priced for what we had.

Unbelievably good southern/texas BBQ - best you'll find in the UK in our opinion! (Texan husband!) The brisket is insane. Get the big smokes platter if you are 3 or more and cross your fingers the beef short rib tacos and mac and cheese are on the specials menu. Chips are also top tier. And their homemade buffalo sauce is the best you'll ever have. Really lovely owners and staff, great selection of drinks (excellent non alcoholic options too) and a fab & cosy vibe with games. Love this place.

Despite being off the beaten track, this pub is worth taking a trip to. It has a great choice of drinks, fun and friendly atmosphere.

Have been eyeing up the BBQ food offering here for a while and it did not disappoint. It felt like a rare find and do not come across good quality smoked meat places. We went for one of the platters with brisket, burnt ends, ribs & chicken wings. It was all superbly cooked - beautiful melt in the mouth textures. The fried chicken wings were a perfect contrast. The staff were all so friendly, I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

A gem of a pub not too far from Brighton Station, tucked away nicely from the hub bub and rowdiness of the town centre. The bar staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub is quiet enough to hear people speaking (but not totally silent), which is a rarity these days! Music is played, however it is at a low level so as not to be distracting. There is seating outside the front for those who want to sit al fresco or those that want to smoke. Really lovely pub with two bar areas/adequate space, go check it out if you're ever in the area.

Beef brisket nachos are incredible! Only negative is that we didn't realise you have to book in advance for their smoked platters, but will do that next time and be back!

The restaurant is a bit away from the city center and seafront, but still easily accessible. You can sit outside or inside. The interior is small, cozy, with charm. The staff is very nice and friendly and helpful. The food is freshly prepared and very tasty. We had the ribs (just great) and the piggy stack (also delicious). The prices are right for the amount of food. A visit is very worthwhile.

Review is for a drink here, didnt stay overnight. Lovely quirky smaller tucked away pub. Nice quiet outside seats. We were passing though on a walk and wish had more time for a few more here, lucky locals!

I pop in occasionally for a beer when I have some spare time before my train. Nice traditional pub. Outside seating is good when it's warm and sunny. The only downside is finding somewhere to lock a bike up outside. Edit: Harvey's best has gone up 10p.

We got the big smokes sharing platter. Was very good! A massive munch and definitely worth the money. The burnt brisket ends were *chefs kiss*. The garlic sausage was super flavourful. All the food tasted amazing. Definitely wouldn’t recommend getting sides if you get this as it’s really filling. Will get this again for sure.

It's a good location, almost underneath the viaduct but not, once a pokey backstreet local but now a lot cleaner, lighter, friendlier and smilier food and drink destination venue not so much hidden, just tucked away.

Booked a family meal for a birthday .First, they got the numbers wrong , and then they expected 9 of us to sit on 2 sofas around a coffee table to eat ,when we explained our 82 year old nan wouldn't be be able to do this a member of of staff was rude ,obnoxious and completely unhelpful. She also told the manager in front of us that she thinks we should leave ! This pub doesn't look like it can cater to groups but is not mentioned at all . Parking like the service is terrible. I’m not one to write reviews but the Texas brisket and buffalo chicken wings were exactly what I hoped they’d be! I’m a big hot sauce fan and that buffalo sauce is the best thing I’ve ever had. They really need to put it in the shops are sell bottles at the pub. My new go to food night out. Well done guys.

Visiting this pub we chose a table. Was told it was reserved, fair enough was showed another table. By the time we had gone to the bar a rude member of staff told us that our second was also reserved. When I said why did the first person tell us that the table was free she started arguing that te First Lady meant a table in the front bar. So we were shown a table that someone was already sitting at with the waitress say oh they are only drinking so I will move them! Not wanting to feel awkward we politely said that is ok and where is the next pub with that the waitress started to get annoyed to the extent that she followed us out the door shout something like I hope you get wet as it was raining. Maybe she was having a bad day but we would not recommend this pub and will not be going anywhere near it in the future. Leave it up to the reader to make up their own mind Thank you for your very unprofessional reply and your very personal comments. It just seems to underline my review and people should avoid your “Back Street Boozer” and use one of the 299 other pubs in Brighton. The fact that you think it is acceptable to follow someone out of your pub . Shouting at them just shows that maybe you are in the wrong job.

Atmosphere was really good but I did have to wait circa 45min for 2 portions of chips. I will definitely be back!!

Un accueil très chaleureux. Le décor très atypique est un régal pour les yeux. On s'y sent tout de suite comme à la maison. Les bières proposées sont très bonnes et pour tous les goûts. Côté couchage, le matelas était très confortable. La chambre également. Les hôtes ont été très sympathiques. Je reviendrai ici lors de mon prochain passage à Brighton. Je recommande vivement. We came here for their special Thanksgiving Dinner. We were not quite sure what to expect from pub thanksgiving food, but the chef did an incredible job. Everything was delicious and very authentic for an American thanksgiving. Portions were generous and we couldnt finish everything. It was so fantastic we will be back to try the barbecue.

Great pub with different room areas and lovely atmosphere!

With new operators, the pub has been given a new life and for the better! Strong food offer, and vibey spaces.... However!! a rude, angry and belligerent (particular) member of kitchen team! I raised my concern about how significantly smaller my Dino-rib was. It as really was less than a finger thickness piece of meat on half of a 10 inch rib which for £23.50 left something to be desired! (3 other of my party had actually commented on the portion size of the veggie dish and the inconsistency of the Dino-ribs) Anyway so having mentioned this I was immediately interrupted. I was argued with profusely, claiming I was wrong, and told to consider how they are to make money? I was even lectured on the anatomy of a cow. I've been in hospitality for 15 years to a high level and I was simply raising fair points. Instead I was met with an obtuse and condescending member of staff who in the end walked away from me! Utterly shocked and horrified someone thinks this is an effective approach to conflict resolution? Getting defensive suggests there was some truth in my comments.... I should add, the issue was rectified by simply offering me a refund and kicking me out. Ruined my whole evening with my friends, and I went home hungry and unsatisfied. Is satisfaction not the primary aim of the guest experience? From what I can see all previous negative reviews are courtesy of this particular woman...one even referring to a confrontation with her own staff.

Visited this place on a Saturday afternoon for the food. Had seen it and it looked delicious, and it WAS. Between two of us we shared the brisket nachos and a portion of 3 ribs. Definitely filled us up. The ribs were liti falling of the bone, melt in the mouth and the nachos were a good portion and pretty sure the actual chip were home made as well. Super Friendly staff and nice cozy little pub. Definitely would go again.

Fantastic! Not only does it fill the hole left by the loss of BBQ Shack, but I'd be as bold as to say it's better! The brisket and burnt ends were phenomenal, as were the ribs. The wings were good, but if you're after wings, go to Alberta's at The Windmill. Get involved

Easily the nicest meat I have ever had! Excellent all around service and helped with my allergies (Gluten and Dairy) and I was brought individual portions to cater for this. 10/10!

Nice pub, but food prices were shocking, paid £12 for half a roasted aubergine, which came with out any sides. Had to pay a further £3.95 for chips which came out as a very small serving. Overall it was very disappointing.

We happened upon this lovely pub by chance. What a lovely find! Great food , we went back the following night for more. Amazing burgers and a great selection of drinks.

Started off as a nice experience in the pub, the girls behind that bar were lovely and served great drinks. Later that evening clearly there was some commotion between one of girls and manager/ maybe owner… the poor girl that had served me was crying and looking scared and just not ok while this woman was shouting an screaming at her. The pub is a nice local in brighton but clearly ran by horrible bullies who are just vile to the staff and clearly have no care for the staff wellbeing. DEFINITELY WILL NEVER BE BACK AND I HOPE THAT POOR GIRL RESIGNS

Lovely little local pub and very friendly owners, if you’re lucky you might even get to meet their gorgeous dog! Despite living in the area for several years the old Argyle was never appealing and the change in the place is amazing and goes to show how hard the owners Nick and Juliette have worked to build the place up again. Great selection of drinks and food and friendly atmosphere!

This place is full of Chinese ex-pats and students. It offers a very large menu and is very well priced. Really enjoyed the food and the service was great

It as pretty quiet when we went in here and it didn't have much atmosphere so I wasn't sure if we should stay but I'm glad we did. We picked a spicy prawn dish, a beef in five spice and so e dumplings in chilli oil. All were delicious but the stand out dish was the chilli oil dumplings which were sensational. I got chatting to the owner, asking for the recipe, and we talked about a visit I had made to China. As we were leaving he came running out after me to give me a can of special Chinese pearl tea which was lovely of him :-)
