This is just an incredible pub in every way. It has a fabulous atmosphere along with fantastic staff. The food is absolutely incredible!!

Booked a family meal for a birthday .First, they got the numbers wrong , and then they expected 9 of us to sit on 2 sofas around a coffee table to eat ,when we explained our 82 year old nan wouldn't be be able to do this a member of of staff was rude ,obnoxious and completely unhelpful. She also told the manager in front of us that she thinks we should leave ! This pub doesn't look like it can cater to groups but is not mentioned at all . Parking like the service is terrible. I’m not one to write reviews but the Texas brisket and buffalo chicken wings were exactly what I hoped they’d be! I’m a big hot sauce fan and that buffalo sauce is the best thing I’ve ever had. They really need to put it in the shops are sell bottles at the pub. My new go to food night out. Well done guys.

Visiting this pub we chose a table. Was told it was reserved, fair enough was showed another table. By the time we had gone to the bar a rude member of staff told us that our second was also reserved. When I said why did the first person tell us that the table was free she started arguing that te First Lady meant a table in the front bar. So we were shown a table that someone was already sitting at with the waitress say oh they are only drinking so I will move them! Not wanting to feel awkward we politely said that is ok and where is the next pub with that the waitress started to get annoyed to the extent that she followed us out the door shout something like I hope you get wet as it was raining. Maybe she was having a bad day but we would not recommend this pub and will not be going anywhere near it in the future. Leave it up to the reader to make up their own mind Thank you for your very unprofessional reply and your very personal comments. It just seems to underline my review and people should avoid your “Back Street Boozer” and use one of the 299 other pubs in Brighton. The fact that you think it is acceptable to follow someone out of your pub . Shouting at them just shows that maybe you are in the wrong job.

Phenomenal food, perfect atmosphere on a Sunday lunch, owners and staff are so nice! This is my nee favourite place in Brighton!

I pop in occasionally for a beer when I have some spare time before my train. Nice traditional pub. Outside seating is good when it's warm and sunny. The only downside is finding somewhere to lock a bike up outside.

I am replying to Juliette...you are correct I did not use rooms but it was tricky giving 0/5. Don't know what to do?? As for the service it was lovely. I was there on Sat evening 3 Feb.. Atmosphere was really good but I did have to wait circa 45min for 2 portions of chips. I will definitely be back!!

Un accueil très chaleureux. Le décor très atypique est un régal pour les yeux. On s'y sent tout de suite comme à la maison. Les bières proposées sont très bonnes et pour tous les goûts. Côté couchage, le matelas était très confortable. La chambre également. Les hôtes ont été très sympathiques. Je reviendrai ici lors de mon prochain passage à Brighton. Je recommande vivement. We came here for their special Thanksgiving Dinner. We were not quite sure what to expect from pub thanksgiving food, but the chef did an incredible job. Everything was delicious and very authentic for an American thanksgiving. Portions were generous and we couldnt finish everything. It was so fantastic we will be back to try the barbecue.

Amazing friendly pub with decent beers, clean toilets, good food, nice patrons and awesome bar staff. Chill vibe, good music through speakers, quiet and not full of students. Nice place to meet friends and chill after work. Speaker volume not excessive. Cozy snug pub. Well kept ale Would recommend.

This is my new local. It's not just a local though. What an amazing place. Quiet, warm and friendly. The food is incredible. The service is incredible. Thanks chef/ manager/ and everything else you do! Lovely to meet you and all the staff.

With new operators, the pub has been given a new life and for the better! Strong food offer, and vibey spaces.... However!! a rude, angry and belligerent (particular) member of kitchen team! I raised my concern about how significantly smaller my Dino-rib was. It as really was less than a finger thickness piece of meat on half of a 10 inch rib which for £23.50 left something to be desired! (3 other of my party had actually commented on the portion size of the veggie dish and the inconsistency of the Dino-ribs) Anyway so having mentioned this I was immediately interrupted. I was argued with profusely, claiming I was wrong, and told to consider how they are to make money? I was even lectured on the anatomy of a cow. I've been in hospitality for 15 years to a high level and I was simply raising fair points. Instead I was met with an obtuse and condescending member of staff who in the end walked away from me! Utterly shocked and horrified someone thinks this is an effective approach to conflict resolution? Getting defensive suggests there was some truth in my comments.... I should add, the issue was rectified by simply offering me a refund and kicking me out. Ruined my whole evening with my friends, and I went home hungry and unsatisfied. Is satisfaction not the primary aim of the guest experience? From what I can see all previous negative reviews are courtesy of this particular woman...one even referring to a confrontation with her own staff.

Visited this place on a Saturday afternoon for the food. Had seen it and it looked delicious, and it WAS. Between two of us we shared the brisket nachos and a portion of 3 ribs. Definitely filled us up. The ribs were liti falling of the bone, melt in the mouth and the nachos were a good portion and pretty sure the actual chip were home made as well. Super Friendly staff and nice cozy little pub. Definitely would go again.

Fantastic! Not only does it fill the hole left by the loss of BBQ Shack, but I'd be as bold as to say it's better! The brisket and burnt ends were phenomenal, as were the ribs. The wings were good, but if you're after wings, go to Alberta's at The Windmill. Get involved

Easily the nicest meat I have ever had! Excellent all around service and helped with my allergies (Gluten and Dairy) and I was brought individual portions to cater for this. 10/10!

A delightful pub with lots of character. Run by a nice couple. Excellent breakfast if you're staying in a room. Would certainly visit again.

Nice pub, but food prices were shocking, paid £12 for half a roasted aubergine, which came with out any sides. Had to pay a further £3.95 for chips which came out as a very small serving. Overall it was very disappointing.

Started off as a nice experience in the pub, the girls behind that bar were lovely and served great drinks. Later that evening clearly there was some commotion between one of girls and manager/ maybe owner… the poor girl that had served me was crying and looking scared and just not ok while this woman was shouting an screaming at her. The pub is a nice local in brighton but clearly ran by horrible bullies who are just vile to the staff and clearly have no care for the staff wellbeing. DEFINITELY WILL NEVER BE BACK AND I HOPE THAT POOR GIRL RESIGNS

Lovely little local pub and very friendly owners, if you’re lucky you might even get to meet their gorgeous dog! Despite living in the area for several years the old Argyle was never appealing and the change in the place is amazing and goes to show how hard the owners Nick and Juliette have worked to build the place up again. Great selection of drinks and food and friendly atmosphere!

Pre booked for table 6 told them it was for my daughters 21, thought they would of done something special . A little Bit icecream with a candle or free drink or something. But nothing ! All food served on wooden chopping boards why ? Most of us were disappointed with the main meals all a bit blaned. Garlic bread very dry . Waiter very pleasant . We all decided not to bother with desserts. Not a great choice I'm afraid, should of gone somewhere else .

I eat the re quite regularly and recently ordered a steak it was served on a piece of wood! What's wrongful with crockery? It's mor hygiene and not so naff!

It as pretty quiet when we went in here and it didn't have much atmosphere so I wasn't sure if we should stay but I'm glad we did. We picked a spicy prawn dish, a beef in five spice and so e dumplings in chilli oil. All were delicious but the stand out dish was the chilli oil dumplings which were sensational. I got chatting to the owner, asking for the recipe, and we talked about a visit I had made to China. As we were leaving he came running out after me to give me a can of special Chinese pearl tea which was lovely of him :-)

This place is full of Chinese ex-pats and students. It offers a very large menu and is very well priced. Really enjoyed the food and the service was great

This pubs is so much nicer since it was taken over a few years ago. Lovely owners, decent beer selection. Comfy seats and sofas. Clean and tidy. Teles for football or rugby. A few tables outside.

Simply excellent! Lovely landlady/landlord & gorgeous dog, good beer & special food! The meat & cheese board together with vegetarian equivalent made for a good celebratory night out! Thank you to all the staff 👏👏👏😃😃

Quality little backstreet boozer. Two bar areas, with tables out front on the quiet road and a small terrace round the back. Very friendly staff and though we didn't try the food the menu looked thoroughly decent

We were in Brighton for the weekend and booked a table here as it was near where we were staying- so glad we did. Very welcoming, lovely cosy pub with fantastic food.

It is a nice place with nice beer. However, it took us almost half an hour to find out that the kitchen was closed. When we first asked for service they didn't mention it, only told us to wait as they were busy. That was a bit disappointing

I’ve lived opposite this pub for a year now and it’s a lovely environment. great drinks, kind owners and a great pub dog! they do really good student deals and the atmosphere is so relaxing and welcoming. the decor is really warm and homely and a lot of thought and effort has gone into the vibe! they’re great neighbour’s and make sure their pub is a safe environment. Really appreciate having this place near by!

who would have ever thought that a small normal boozer would create the best cocktails in town and the food is also wonderful as are all staff and the pub dog.

A lovely pub with great beer! Good food too. Owners are very friendly and they play a great selection of music. The dog is gorgeous!! The only 2 negative points is the wooden coin game that's very loud in one bar and irritating if you want to talk, and on two occasions I have asked for a cocktail but the bar staff either didn't know how to make them or were out of ingredients - so disappointing because I had one before and it was delicious! All in all, wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends. I also noticed very lovely looking rooms available upstairs too.

Had an amazing 3 night stay here in March, new owners Nick & Juliette were so welcoming and have done an amazing job on renovating both the apartments and pub downstairs All the cocktails we tried were extremely tasty and beautifully garnished, great selections of beers and best pint of Guinness we had in Brighton Will definitely be back

Just the best local pub in Brighton! We just moved to Brighton and thought we’d try this little pub round the corner and fell in love! Juliette and Nick are the best landlords and we love coming here for a drink. I held my 30th birthday here with 20 friends and we had the best time, the food was amazing and the ambience even better. We will be back every week!

Cannot recommend The Argyle Arms enough, stayed here for three nights in March and was so delighted with everything! The owners Juliette and Nick went above and beyond for us, thanks so much again.

New owners , new lease of life ..first visit since it was taken over during covid , had a good selection of beers that are really well priced , Beavertown was under £6 which is unheard of , they have a giant dog which is just the soppiest thing going and the owners are super friendly , the food menu looked delicious and caters for meat , veggie and Vegans - we will be back 🙌

I booked a table for 11 of us for a Christmas work meal…late notice…2 days before…we had a lovely table in such a gorgeous cosy pub. We ordered ALOT of food and it all came together and was amazing! The pork belly wow, prawns, potatoes, squid, baked Camembert, goats cheese, chicken wings and halloumi…So glad we tried this lovely tucked away pub. Service was great and to top it off…there is a pub dog…Can’t wait to come back!! Thanks to the team for putting up with us…X

Very friendly people. The owners have done something fantastic with this pub which now looks cosier than ever. Come here for a good ol’ pint or the food and you won’t be disappointed. Bonus points for the beer garden which is really nice.

My partner and I spent a really nice evening here today. The owners are lovely, and their food is delicious (top quality burgers). Great atmosphere and experience all-round.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our recent short stay at the Argyle Arms. It's a charming neighbourhood pub that has recently been renovated by new owners (Juliette & Nick were very welcoming & friendly, as were their staff) and is also a B&B with one room available, and at an attractive price. We were delighted with the room, which was large, attractively furnished & decorated, and - most importantly - had a large, comfy bed that we slept very well on together. (In fact we even made a note of the pillows and have bought some since we got home!) The bathroom was separate but for our sole use, also modern/renovated and with an electric shower that worked perfectly. Breakfast was excellent, with a range of options available to suit all tastes, and checkout was flexible, allowing us to make the most of our day before departing home. We had a lovely stay, can't recommend it enough and look forward to staying there again the next time we're down in Brighton!

Have just returned from an overnight stay, the first B&B customers since new ownership, we are so pleased we chose this place! Juliette & Nick are the perfect hosts, attention to detail was amazing. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated, comfy mattress, thick, fluffy towels and tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Separate bathroom has easy to use shower and good, quality toiletries are provided. Breakfast was absolutely first class! Full English, really tasty and beautifully presented. Location is great, walking distance to The Lanes/seafront or like us, visiting your son/daughter in their student house in the vicinity. A hidden B&B gem in Argyle Road. We will be returning soon.

Always liked this pub but the new owners have made this space feel even more open, community-felt and cosy. They've massively expanded the food menu and drinks menu (delicious cocktails!). Excited to try the camembert and biacoff churos!!
