The Regency Tavern in Brighton and Hove

Spotted by chance, had some Thai food very good a bit out of the blue would recommend as Thai restaurant in a good old fashion pub.

Came here for a roast with my closest friend and it was super. The atmosphere is bet linch at her finest with glamorous surroundings and animal prints. The roast we had was delicious. The girls who served us were delightful and couldn’t do enough for us. A gentlemen there also provided a bowl of water for our furry friend. Definitely worth visiting for a homemade meal.

We visited here on our trip to Brighton with our 16 year old daughter. We were celebrating her exam results as well as taking a break after the passing of my mother. It’s a dog-friendly establishment which is decorated beautifully. We were so surprised when we got inside. It was just lovely. We came in half way through karaoke night and we had the best time! The regulars sang their hearts out and the host was utterly amazing! We ordered food from the lovely Thai menu, which was just impeccable. Such an amazing evening. Which, with two autistic people in tow, was just great. So welcoming, non invasive and pleasant. Highly recommend xx

Well what a warm welcome from the lovely Collin, Megan and Juliette in this hidden gem near Russell Square. Beautifully decorated throughout and enjoyed a fabulous Thai meal that was reasonably priced and delicious! A plus was there was a cabaret night hosted by the wonderful Pooh La May who entertained us with banter and songs. Definitely recommend and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for everything 😊

Nice place for a quiet drink, hidden away close to Churchill Square. Decor is a bit tired, and overall, the place could do with an injection of love, paint, and passion but still a nice quiet place to have a drink.

Nice little pub and live music at the weekend. Nice and hospitable service at the bar.

In my opinion, a bit bland, the potatoes were overdone and you only get three of them gravy was bland and had to pay extra for more gravy. It’s the second time I’ve gone there now and it’s not been a good experience so I won’t be going there for a long time, they had not been open long that day, and the potatoes were just too hard and tasted oil and fatty.. seems like there needs a little bit of care with the cooking with a bit of love and for £22 for a mixed roast, plus paying extra for gravy just seems a little expensive as well.

A group of 7 of us walked in calm and respectfully and were met with intimidating stares. The landlord didn’t greet us and when we chose to leave (before ordering because we felt unwelcome) someone said ‘yay’. Very exclusive and unkind. Hope you’re happy to lose custom.

We went to the drag bottomless brunch here. It was excellent. The food was Thai and included vegan options. The drag queen, Darcy Knox, was brilliant. The pub was closed to other people and so there were just two hen parties in the venue. It was great fun, even better than we expected.

Went to the drag brunch show for my sister's hen party. I was a bit worried beforehand because we had to book through a third party as I tried ringing the pub to book direct through them but was told it wasn't possible. However when we got there everything went perfectly. They knew who I was straight away and easily managed our large party (15 people). They obviously rinse and repeat this so have everything down. The Thai food was good and catered well to lots of vegans which is what I was after. Again, I was a bit worried as there was no way to pre order food beforehand but once you're there it all goes smoothly. The bottomless cocktails aren't very alcoholic obviously but that's to be expected. The Drag performance was excellent, the staff are friendly and the space has a good vive. I would recommend!

We went for a quick pint on a Thursday b4 going out elsewhere, as love this crazy pub but it was karaoke night. Not great but don't let that put you off as normally it's a really gd atmosphere & entertaining pub. Just karaoke is not our idea of a gd night but I'm sure others wld love it.

Typical place to eat fish and chips, although it has some other dishes, the specialty is fish. Be careful, keep in mind, you have to look at the fine print because you have to add 12.5% ​​for the service.

Excellent home cooked Sunday roast. Chicken was moist and delicious veg, yorkie, stuffing and gravy. Staff were delightful. Will definitely return.

We live next door to this pub/restaurant, maybe bistro bar/entertainment venue is the best way to describe it. A group of us went yesterday evening for dinner for 9 of us. Famous for it's Sunday roasts, it also does Thai food every other day of the week for lunch and dinner. The Thai food was amazingly good and authentic. Can't wait to go back. The pub looks amazing and was decorated for Christmas beautifully. The staff were great, very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. It's a great venue and should be on everyone's list of places to visit when coming to Brighton!

I liked the look of the place and if you are a people watcher, you can watch the world go by,which is a plus in my book. Standard pub food, friendly helpful stsff

Fabulous as always, Staff are always accommodating and friendly, a great atmosphere, food is great, whether you book for Sharon's Sunday roasts or go for the Thai food, it is lovely, 100% recommend. Fab night out also when they have cabaret on, all rounder great pub 👍

Nice. Classic English pub atmosphere, serving damned good Sunday roast. It is tucked way, sans views, but really, the service and food and atmosphere to die for. The establishment knew my friend , Tom, and treated us really well. A treat to meet the chef too. It os offset from a classic designed square that overlooked the old Brighton pier, so only imagine the history of the wealthy, and connected, Victoria's that drank here. What a brilliant time our birthday group had on Sat 2nd December. The entertainment lady, Billy-Jo...( sorry if get name wrong) she is fabulous! Such a lovely lady, very entertaining and funny. We were all really laughing 😂. Great atmosphere, lovely decor in pub, very cosy. We were there for the bottomless brunch - drinks not strong & more food would've been good BUT...was a fabulous time . A genuine and welcoming pub, lovely staff and great food. Make sure you book if you want Sunday roast, it is well worth it, one of the best roasts I've had around Brighton.

Thursday nights are Karaoke with Chris Hide who is the best Karaoke host I have ever experienced. Chris is a fantastic singer himself but his main attribute is his charming friendly personality who really cares about giving the best possible service to the patrons.

I get so nervous going into town now. However, the warmth of reception by all was out of this world and made my flatmate and I feel immediately at ease. As for the food, I kinda begrudge giving their Sunday roasts a 15/10 as would love to keep that wonderful place a little gem for Brightonians a secret still. Thank you all x

Hi, we went here and had: Spicy squid Chicken satay Thai fish cakes Pad cashew pork Duck red curry Prik nam pla And all of it was really excellent! I would definitely recommend this place. Also had a nice pint of bitter and a great glad of red wine with the meal

Popped in for a drink when I was at a loose end staying in Brighton alone for a conference. I felt so welcomed and comfortable being here alone that I stayed for a couple more. Lovely friendly staff and customers alike. If I'm ever in Brighton again I'll be sure to return.

When in Brighton we always come here. The pub is fantastic, camp and very welcomming. Tonight we had a Thai meal from the kitchen , which is the latest people to " rent" the space. Very oily but enjoyable. Dont let this put you off the awesome pub but maybe the food doesnt quite cut it.

Hidden away in the corner of Regency Square, this great find is a haven of old style camp. Friendly staff serve up a delicious Sunday roast at a reasonable cost. There is cabaret on offer several nights week, with other entertainment also on offer. Give it a try. You will love it

Went for a Hen party celebration midday. The two Drag artists were amazing and really entertained us throughout our whole sitting. Fantastic! DO not buy the drinks package! Sadly we weren't able to get out of our seats to buy a drinks due to the amazing drag artist performing, we were sat by the stage and were quite restricted getting in and out of our seats. By the time we got to the bar it was 2 minutes past 2. The manager said No, package ended at 2. Staff never came round to refill cocktail jugs nor prosecco. The brunch meal is a strange concoction to say the least. Had a fab time but left feeling ripped off! Such a shame because I would of loved to have tipped the fantastic drag artists! The rrason for my very good rating is purely for entertainment factor!

Tuesday evening 7th September and we visited this iconic and glamorous pub in Brighton. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks, barman was friendly and chatty, asking if we were holidaymakers and having a good time. While sat at the bar we could not miss the massive cupid suspended from the bar above us. The furnishings were lavish and over the top behind us was a red velvet chaise lounge, matching curtains/drapes. Large golden framed pictures adorned the walls. Even the toilet seat was glittery, not an inch of the place was spared. There was live singing entertainment provided by the Kate Quic, very nice lady. She came and spoke with us when she had finished. There was only one larger and real ale on offer. We ordered a pint of each and were taken aback when we were charged £10.40 for our two drinks. Not sure if this is reflective of Brighton price as the only other pub we visited was 'Spoons'. Definitely worth a visit for the decor alone.

Had a lovely Thai two course meal , topped off with a Singha beer , Colin the manager was so welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing , good portions and 2 courses for £9.50 . Will definitely be back

We stumbled across this quaint and flamboyant pub by accident and glad we did! Lovely staff and a good choice of drinks. The only reason for only giving four stars instead of five is that it's a little run down and the carpet was quite sticky. The toilets were pretty clean which is always positive in my book!

I visited this pub with some friends for lunch last Friday. When we first arrived the place appeared empty but a lovely American chap soon arrived (my apologies if he's Canadian but I can't tell the difference) I had taken the precaution of booking a table but as it turned out this wasn't necessary, we were offered the choice of anywhere we wanted to sit. The menu is primarily based on pies and sausages with a good variety on offer, there are also daily specials available. I opted for the lamb and mint sausages with mash and peas with gravy, they came in a large flat bowl which is ideal for covering your food with the lovely gravy, the sausages were full and meaty and the mash completely lump free, two others in the group had pork sausages and two had scampi and chips. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and only one of the group could fit in a dessert, an Apple crumble with custard. The venue itself is a bit of an institution in Brighton, it blends over the top Recency style with the wonderful campness that Brighton does best, lots of gilt and red velvet, but alas somewhat jaded in places, it could do with a bit of a spruce up but nothing to change it too much. Don't expect fine dining here but do expect to loosen your waistband and sit back and enjoy the decor with a nice glass of wine.

Came for a drag show brunch. What a brill time. Thai food was incredible . We had the drag Billie gold who was amazing. Such a great vibe. Staff lovely and constantly smiling and laughing. Will deffo book again .

Popped in for a quick half pint at the end of a long day, as it's a stones throw from my hotel. Elegant pub. I realise the South of England is expensive, and on a three day holiday I was relaxed about paying the going rate (apart from Wetherspoons) of between £4.80 and £5.60 for pints of 6 - 7% real cider. But not £6 for a bog standard 3.7% Shepherd Neame bitter. Don't know how some pubs get away with it.

Took my Nan in there recently, was welcomed instantly by friendly staff. We had the Thai food which was unbelievably amazing. Very clean place with lots of lovely people in there. Will 100% be going back there soon!

Have just taken some friends from out of town for Sunday lunch at the Regency and they loved it. Food was great (as usual) and service was perfect. Well done to Colin and his team for a very enjoyable experience.

Basic pub though I gather that live music is good

We arrived for a drag brunch which had been mis-sold to us via another company. The owner and staff at Regency Tavern were lovely about it! They understood what had happened (it was not their fault, a separate bad actor is selling fake tickets through legitimate websites like Eventbrite) and they did everything they could to help sort things out. They managed to fit us into the drag brunch they had running that day (which was not the one we'd booked so we had to pay - again, not their fault - and advised us on getting a refund from the scammer). Be aware that it may not be possible for them to fit you into their show if you've also been a victim of fake tickets. The show was great, the Thai food was lovely and the bottomless cocktails were generous. Thank you so much to the staff for doing what they could to salvage my best friend's hen party when they were under no obligation to do so.

As always the most amazing food and atmosphere with the best staff ever.

Our bottomless brunch got rearranged to be here, honestly the staff ( massive shout out to Sharron!) Were amazing! Once a jug was finished another drink was ready! Food was good ( slightly small portions for a brunch but lovely thai food!!) I can't remember the AMAZING drag queens name but she was A QUEEN! AMAZING SINGING, good laugh and everyone had an Amazing time.

Fun friendly gay boozer, lots of pink and quirky decor. cabaret, live music. Gets quite busy at weekends.

We’ve become regulars in this one off of a pub. Hidden away in the top end of a lovely square, the staff are all friendly and welcoming. A great atmosphere and sunday lunch is a must. Check it out when you visit this wonderful city.

Great pub quiz, super kitsch and fun pub

Unfortunately had a really disappointing experience here. I booked a table over a month and a half in advance at 9pm on Saturday, to see a drag show. When we turned up they had us booked in, not only at the WRONG time, but they tried to blame us and gaslight us for coming too late. We were with a hen do and they also said no hen dos allowed, NOTHING was mentioned about this even though I specifically asked via email. They tried to accommodate by rudely throwing these 2 lovely guys off their table rammed around the back so you couldn't even see the show. The only good thing about this bar was the drag queen who was the only reason we stayed. Avoid avoid avoid.

Really one for the locals but worth a visit. Only one ale on, when I was there... Better Shepherd Neme pubs to be found.

Great pub, a bit like a rabbit warren! Gets very busy but is charming. Very pleasant to sit in for a relaxing drink. Lots of people eating - and enjoying -Sunday roasts.

We have walked past this pub countless times over the years without going in ,but have to say we that won’t be happen again. Nipped in here last night (Saturday) and had one of the funniest hours we’ve had in years. From the get go the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The decor is absolutely fabulous. The icing on the cake was the pianist, he was hysterical. We honestly laughed until our sides hurt and almost nearly missed our meal ,as we desperately wanted to see who won musical bingo.

Went here with my friend on a Saturday and it was a great experience. Staff are super friendly in a really genuine way. Drinks were really nice. Loved their homemade chocolate shots- definitely have to try them. The atmosphere was amazing. Which was enhanced by the Drag act.

Weve just spent a lovely few hours in this bar. Always our port of call when in Brighton. A beautifully decorated bar with awesome service from the lady this late afternoon/ early evening (Wednesday). Edward our westie was made to feel most welcome. Until the next time.

Excellent pub, we had a great time there although I can't remember a lot but there was definitely music, some dancing and a drag act at some point. Great staff too, a proper fun night out!

We have come today for first time and cannot recommend it enough! I think my picture says it all.. great meal, lovely flavours and meat cooked to perfection! Very lovely manager ! Highly recommended
