The Moorings Barrow in Charnwood

This is possibly the best stake I’ve ever had, served on a volcanic slab and comes served rare so the longer you leave it on there the more it cooks to your liking. Had this been a fillet steak, I wouldn’t have complained as it was so tender.

Lovely setting and interior, loved the pods outside against the water. The staff were friendly and the food good, however, I ordered off the lunchtime deal menu but was charged full price for both the meal and sweet instead of the deal price, the waitress did ask if I wanted my linguine arrabiatta as a mains size which I thought was strange as it wasn't on as a starter but obviously you get a smaller portion if you have it off the deal menu, I was not impressed and felt a little cheated. Our lunch time meal for four then became very expensive, so unsure I'll return

Went for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday and had to wait a hour and a half for are food it was busy we were sat near the kitchen and could hear the chef shouting not very professional.The food was ok but not of there normal standard

Not a great experience. Be advised that you can't order a nibble or a starter alongside your main course. If you do the policy is that everything will come out together. The manageress told me that I must order every course separately and request each time at a busy bar to do so. Such a shame that whether it be a bowl of olives as a nibble before a pizza (which is what i tried to do), or a proper starter before a main, this is the way this place rocks. You may enjoy a single course here, but don't consider anything beyond. Drinking pub more than an eating one.

I’ve been out for many Sunday roasts in different places but this has to be one of my top meals, I went for the pork belly, everything on the plate was really tasty. Definitely returning 👌🏻

Love this place! We went for the second Sunday in a row on Sunday just gone (23rd June) as the trio of meat was unbeatable! Didn’t disappoint the second visit and even the staff recognised us on out 2nd visit, the place has a really friendly chilled vibe and this is due to the warm welcome by the lovely staff, great out door area to sit in the sun by the river too, definitely a regular for us now

We had a family event at the Moorings for about 20 people. The staff were very helpful, especially the restaurant manager Vanessa. The food was delicious and there was plenty for everyone. The pizzas were especially good! Highly recommended, will definitely go again. Thank you!

We ate at the Moorings when we had family visit a few weeks back, in total there were 9 of us dining. The service and food was excellent, and a good selection of beers on tap too! Looking forward to visiting again soon now they have changed the menu!

The head chef and menu has recently changed and I can say for the better! Have eaten here previously and the standard of food is a million times better. Food was extremely fair priced and the staff where brilliant, but that had always been the case :)

Great place for dinner with friends. We were seated promptly and given plenty of time to choose our meal choices whilst having a drink. We were very well looked after by Danielle and Kate. They were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They went above and beyond to help us celebrate our friend’s birthday even arranging a dessert complete with singing! There were seven of us with only two choosing the same. The meals came out together, piping hot and extremely tasty. Only three managed pudding, which was amazing - Tiramisu a must, great portion sizes, excellent quality, compliments to the chefs Omar and Adam!

We made a last minute booking for Sunday dinner and were treated to an awesome full on Sunday roast Both hubby and I had Roast Beef and shared a side of cauliflower cheese. Portion sizes were generous and the food was piping hot, beautifully seasoned and super tasty. The roast beef was tender and moist, the roasted vegetables and potatoes plentiful the Yorkshire puddings light and crispy and the gravy an absolute triumph We saved just enough space for desert - opting for fruit crumble and Sticky Toffee Pudding with lashings of custard. Our server Lauren was an absolute delight and made the lunch a great experience. A truly outstanding meal - cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning.

Came here for Valentine’s Day the set menu was different and amazing quality. The experience was one of the best I’ve had the staff and atmosphere was so welcoming. Would highly recommend this hidden gem. It was also my 50th for which they set the table up, nothing is trouble for them

Held a baby shower here for 24 people at one end of the pub and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating the service and everything was perfect. Ordered 15 pizzas and each one came out fresh and tasty. Will not hesitate to hold any more functions here it was a brilliant evening, thanks!

We visited The Moorings for my friends birthday in Saturday lunchtime, lovely setting and place. We had booked although it was quiet. We were shown to our table with menus and then waited to be asked for our drinks order, so we gave our drinks order alongside our food order. Food came, beautifully presented and hot. We then waited and waited for what seemed ages for our dishes to be cleared away, not at all busy but our waitress was sweeping up the floor, fine that needs to be done but when our dishes were finally cleared away we asked for the dessert menu, I needed another drink we waited and waited so in the end I went to the bar ordered my drink and then back again to order our desserts, cannot fault the food! But the service was very lacking, such a shame as it spoilt a lovely meal!

Myself and my partner came to the moorings for the second time for Sunday dinner. I can honestly say it's the best Sunday lunch I have ever had and a really lovely place. We will definitely be going again. The food and staff are brilliant and now my favourite place to eat

We have been unfortunate enough to have had 2 bereavements in 6 weeks. We went back to The Moorings for our 2nd Wake because everything was so perfect with the first funeral tea. Yet again, we were not disappointed. Pete's team so want everything to be perfect. The buffet was first class and service second to none. Despite the floods, The Moorings were determined not to let us down. Staff rallied round, making difficult journeys to get into work and ensure our final farewells were fitting tributes to our loved ones. A special thank you to Nigel, the chefs and everybody who worked that day.

My Daughter and I had Christmas Dinner 2023. This was our first dining experience here and would highly recommend it. The food, staff and ambience was just perfect. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very attentive. We will definitely return.

We had a funeral tea here for our mother, with about 30 guests. We were so looked after and treated with care and compassion from the moment we booked it until it was time to leave. The food was both hot and cold buffet style and Vegans, vegetarian and gluten free all catered for. We had a private side room which was perfect for the occasion. Nothing was too much trouble for Pete and his team including Kate and Nigel. Buffet food was well presented and to a high standard. I would highly recommend this venue which we have also used on many other occasions for meals out and family get together. It is always good value for money.

We, 4 of us, hadn't been here for a meal since the new owners had taken over, and had heard that it was good, so gave it a go on a monday night. We were not disappointed. The menu was good pub food and the quality was great. We had a lovely meal. Between us we had the gammon, lasagne, chicken burger and a Greek pizza. Value was good. Staff were friendly and service was good. We will be going back.

This is a beautiful place on the river soar great for families with young children the menu is very average struggle for simple meals without loads of added ingredients and bits steak eggs and chips just real pub food not from here but beautiful place in the river

I wanted to like this place - it has the appearance of a good, family-friendly restaurant and the riverside beer garden was a lovely bit of grass to while away an afternoon. The food just wasn't there for me - an overcooked burger that didn't taste of much and took 40min to arrive, average chips, and an expensive pint. I'd happily return on a sunny day for a drink, and most people were eating pizza so maybe I ordered the wrong thing.

Just had a lovely evening at The Moorings. We were a group of 14 and with a preorder the food was perfectly delivered all at the same time. Great value for money. Our servers Chloe and Roman looked after us very well and compliments to the chef for ensuring everything went smoothly. This is our second visit and hopefully will return soon.
