We ate here on a Friday night and it was a great experience the food was great and we were served by Jordan who provided great customer service. The outdoor area is excellent

Had lunch at the moorhen and jorden's service was brillient. Very relaxed and great play area for the kids.

We had a great visit at the moorhen with excellent service from Jordan. Very welcoming and accommodating. We are a young family and they seated us near the play area so we could see the little one and Jordan was great with getting our food out fast. Lovely food al three courses :)

MORGAN made everyone’s night better and help us work the app and nothing was too much to ask honestly would just go back to this pub just for him alone his very professional and has a very friendly manner

Visited the moorhen in Harlow today, fab pub. Morgan is the best worker at this pub. He is so helpful and kind and is very professional. 10/10 would recommend coming here with friends, family or on a date night. Ask for Morgan for the best dining experience.

Sophie was a delight- excellent steak too. Also best priced beer I’ve had in a long time. Dog friendly, good atmosphere all around for a pandemic.

Attentive, friendly and more than accommodating for our visit. Great to have him serving and would come back based on his service.

Just moved to the area and received a fab service from Morgan after stumbling across the Moorhen on an evening walk. He was attentive, welcoming, friendly and an all round star! Look forward to visiting again soon and hope Morgan would still be in town as he mentioned he was covering due to short staff and wasn’t local. Really great asset.

Upon arriving at the moorhen we were informed about the Covid rules which made us feel at ease straight away, service was amazing considering how busy it was, drinks were flowing and the atmosphere was great, I would definitely recommend this pub and we will definitely be back in the future!!

Very accommodating realising we had two children with us, moving us to a heated shelter when the weather turned and rained. Good food at a very reasonable price. All staff were very cheerful and friendly even with the poor weather conditions.

I went here yesterday with my boyfriend and we had a lovely meal but when my boyfriends meal came out it was cold but the lovely staff member named Ellie she was amazing.

I love the inside of this pub, so was hopeful about eating outside and they did not disappoint. The heaters and shelter was a lovely bonus and the service was quick, friendly and the coffee and food was good :) I would definitely recommend

It was great to be back at the Moorhen last weekend! They have done a wonderful job with the garden..installing heaters and lighting..looks really pretty at night! As ever, great food and great service from Sophie (Friday) and Jordon ( Saturday). Table booked for the next weekend..wheather permitting!

We had Jordan as our server, Jordan was very helpful and polite. Jordan helped us with all our orders and demands. The food was lovely and cheap but taste delicious! Would 100% come back again and 100% rare Jordan brilliant server! Thanks jord!

Highly recommended! Really great burgers & the breaded mushrooms with the Jack Daniels sauce are really good. The staff went above and beyond, Sophie and Sarah were both brilliant!

Stoped by the other day with my mate for the first time in a while to have a bit of food and a drink the food was superb couldn’t fault it at all I had the smoking jack burger and it was so nice Sophie who served us made sure we were okay and that we had everything we needed definitely going back when it’s warmer

I visit this place regularly and it never disappoints, and be missed my visits here and was very happy to hear it was reining even for outdoor service only.Even though it was cold and raining the usual team looked happy and has smiles on their faces which couldn’t of been easy in the circumstances.I was sat under the new covered area and next to a heater which was appreciated in the chilly weather.Food was of a very high standard as usual and was very well looked after.This in my opinion is one of the best restaurants around and I will continue to visit and recommend to everyone I know.I have really missed this place

I visited the moorhen on Monday with friends for lunch and drinks. Food came out in good time. I had the vegan beetroot steak (highly recommended) Couldn’t fault the staff for their top quality service, considering the pubs and restaurants have just opened. Loving the new outdoor heated area! Will be coming back again for sure!

Visited here on opening on 12th April, although the weather was cold and horrible, it was great to get back to the familiar setting of the pub, was good to see quite a few people enjoying being back to the new normal we are now living with. Great social distancing and staff wearing masks, friendly polite staff will be visiting again

Had an excellent time at the Moorhen the other day food was superb and staff were really friendly can not fault them at all. Jordon kept coming over to make sure we we’re all alright and if we wanted anything. The Moorhen team worked really hard in all weather conditions we had on the first day pubs reopened will definitely be coming again just hope the weather is better.

Visited on opening day and what I thought could not be better has been improved. The new garden looks stunning and with added heaters to help with the chilli April temperatures! The food was amazing as always, I had the New York toastie with the Tikka topped fries which was as good if not better as I remember! Track and trace explained at the door by Sarah and the mini stickers on the table make it so much easier. Already booked in again for the weekend and looking forward to it already. The pub that never dissapoints has actually got better!

Went for a meal and drink on day of reopening - was very cold but everybody had smiles on their faces, food was amazing and service with a smile! All rules explained before we sat down, felt very safe - excellent job!

I visit this site on a regular basis and can't wait to visit again. Always greeted with a smile and service never dissapoints. All safety measures always in place and adhered too despite the frustration that this causes people who try and blatantly break the rules. I can highly recommend the Deli Toastie, huge portion and choice of fries or salad to go with it (I always add one of the toppers to my fries!) Always washed down with a cold crisp Amstel! Can't wait to visit again once allowed

Another amazing visit to this lovely site for a Sunday Roast. Beautifully cooked meat and veg, the perfect Yorkshire pudding in a lovely safe environment. Must say they are handling the new restrictions very well. Thank you for a lovely day

Popped in to moorhens for lunch from business trip. Had a super roast all the trimmings hot and super tasty.

I love to eat out. Just had a Sunday roast here. I can honestly say the best roast I’ve ever had. Amazing roast potatoes and melt in your mouth lamb. Awesome service too from both Sophie and Jordon.

We visit this restaurant regularly and have never had a bad meal.Since the new covid restrictions have been in place we can honestly say we always feel as safe we can except when eating out. The tables are spaced out and have screens up, hand sanitiser and QR code for the NHS app is in place which the staff always politely ask you to scan before being seated. All staff wear a mask and they don’t moan about it either even though it must drive them mad. The food is always nice weather it be the steak or a Sunday roast.Kids meals are really good value and offer lots of choice.Staff are friendly and happy to answer any questions.

They used to do a senior citizens lunch, but not now, I had the steak and Ale pie, it was meat but not sure what, chewy and full of gristle. Awful.The boss had a quite nice sourdough sandwich which she enjoyed.Service was good, but we won’t be going back.

Food at the Moorhen is as good as ever and service is fantastic..but a special shout out to Ellie!! She really does look after her customers! Catering to our needs! Also very conscious of covid safety and ensuring staff and customers are following correct protocol..She is always polite and attentive.

My food was excellent and my steak cooked to perfection! Friendly and professional service in a really lovely atmosphere. Very happy with the Covid restrictions put in place, the tables were all spread apart, one system in place, hand sanitiser and NHS track and trace provided. Hope to visit again very soon! Visit here on Sunday with family and a couple of friends had a brilliant meal the food was delicious and very colourful. Definitely worth the money. Me and my family visited the moorhen last week and was greeted by a lady called Sarah. I have to say all the staff wore ppe which made us feel very safe . Food was great and all staff very professional . Would definitely recommend going there

Had a lovely family meal here when my aunt came to visit and we had a good service and will go here again.

Came in just for a quick lunch. All the staff wearing there visors made me feel safe, I was greeted at host by Sarah and the track and trace was so easy. My waitress chloe was really bubbly and kind she kept her distance where she could and the service was superb I had a large cod and chips with curry sauce it was cooked to perfection. I couldn’t fault anything. Definitely coming back and would highly recommend.

This is well prepared healthy food with many options. Had the chicken grilled which came with lots of fresh veg. Great value!

Came today for lunch with a friend.Super friendly staff greeted us on arrival and we chose a table by the window. Rosie was very helpful. All clean and felt very safe. All staff wearing masks. Having just been diagnosed with a gluten intolerance this was my first restaurant visit.... well we both had the vegetable bowl with halloumi and it was delicious. We then shared a Bakewell tart dessert- seriously tasty it was gone in seconds!!! Would thoroughly recommend a visit here 5 stars from me We also participated in the fundraising for Macmillan cancer- well done to all the staff involved.

Me and my friends came into the pub and was greeted immediately with a happy face and very kind faced girl, she then went through all of the new COVID rules they had at the pub and kindly showed us round the one way system to our table. About 5 minutes in we were asked if we wanted any drinks and after we had ordered they came about 2 minutes after even though they was quite busy! We then ordered our meals and again they came out very quickly! The meals were hot and we enjoyed them very much, All of the staff were very polite and and happy. We will definitely be coming back!! Keep up the good work.

Came in with family after a day out and we were all hungry, we were seated quickly after doing test and trace, advised of the oneway system and face masks. Ordered on the app drinks came promptly, followed not long after by well presented hot food which was delicious, will definitely be coming back when we are down that way again. Couldnt fault the staff or service in these unprecedented time, keep up the good work

Came down the other day with my husband and my two children. We were welcomed at the door with a friendly hello, I did the nhs app which is so easy to check into different places we then got shown to our table. I ordered on the app food and drinks came in a reasonable time which was good for my children as they were “starving”. But we couldn’t fault the food the drinks or the atmosphere thank you to everyone at The Moorhen

Had a wonderful meal here on Saturday lunchtime, fast service, lovely polite staff, great food. Could not fault it ! 5 stars!

My family and I went out for what we though would be a nice lunch but the minute we walked through the door, we were profiled. It’s very clear that the manager was told a completely different story which we expected. There were 4 of us in our group. Not more than 4 and not less than 4. We did NOT asked to be seated with another group. The law states 6 people can be sat together and we had 4. The assistant manager Elle kept stating that she couldn’t break the law for “you lot”. Karen - Elle even threatened to call the police AFTER we said we were leaving. The issue and reason we left the pub was due to staff being very dismissive, rude and racist. Elle also said that it was the law and pubs policy not to seat anyone who knew each other near one another. E.g if we had a group of 8, it is against the law for her to sit them separately but close by. 4 x 2 on two different tables near each other. Just to be clear, we never asked to be seated with anyone else. Our party size was 4. No one else was questioned on their party size. Just us and the group behind us who were also Black. Staff needs proper hospitality training. You cannot be hostile and not expect the CUSTOMER to feel welcomed after. This restaurant does not seem to take reviews seriously.

Another visit to this site and just gets better and better. All safety measures in place along with enough signage to let you know the guidelines with becoming over bearing. Served at host stand by Sarah and talked through the new track and trace which is quick and easy. Now to the food. I had the most beautifuly cooked and seasoned steak I have ever had with 3 different sauces. Staff regularly ask if anything needed without goung overboard and a lot of charity events going on for Macmillan which is amazing. Overall faultless as always and will be back for a Sunday roast. They make Covid safety look easy! Others should take note

We were profiled straight away and the manner she spoke to us "You lot" was shocking. Staff kept on staring at us and whispering. We have been to the restaurant before and was never treated like this, Only by Elle the assistant manager. I will not be supporting businesses that don't want black people eating there.

Please save yourself a trip and do not go to this establishment. They have the rudest hospitality staff I have ever come across. As soon as my family and I walked in, we were met with micro aggression from the assistant manager “Ellie”. Fair enough we did not have face masks on upon entering but it was Ellie’s attitude and how she asked us to put face mask on that was really rude. She then proceeded to rudely ask how many of us...we said 4 and she asked again rudely. Was not helpful with the track and trace login. Then assumed we were with another group....who were also BLACK. The staff members were whispering “they’re together, don’t seat them next to each other.” We heard and asked the staff why they were saying that. They assumed we were all from the same household...then changed their minds and said that they couldn’t seat people together who knew each other. As soon as we were seated, the staff members kept staring and whispering like children instead of making themselves useful. A lot of assumptions...very aggressive....intimidating (came up close to me) even when I asked for distance...I then said we were going to leave because they made us feel very unwelcome. Ellie then said she’s going to call the police....I’ve been here before and the food was not great but thought we’d give it another go.SAVE A YOURSELF A TRIP.

Four of us met up for a meal at the moorhen, we had booked,and glad we did as the place was pretty full. After being shown to our seats menus were handed out. With orders taken drinks and food arrived,even our server Robyn was very pleasant. Would go there again
