Worst service I’ve ever had from a bartender; young blonde girl not a greeting; rudely asked me to hurry up and order despite me just walking in that moment, refused to take my cash, walked into the room we were sitting in and proceeded to turn the lights off and leave us in pitch black. Terrible pint selection as well, go somewhere else!

Fantastic Sunday Lunch enjoyed by all 4 of us; Lamb, vegetarian and vegan options we had them all- every ingredient cooked to perfection, including the delicious apple crumble- we couldn’t fault anything even the service was spot on- Thank You. Recommended and book a table on the phone so as not to be disappointed.

Great selection of beers and ales, and friendly knowledgeable landlords. Good atmosphere & very welcoming.

Relaxed atmosphere this evening. Had a nice quiet drink

The glass I was served looked as if it hadn’t been washed in days. It was disgusting. The service was ok. The chili was good, but nothing remarkable.

I went in here on a quiet Wednesday evening. I'm not from the area. I patiently waited while a couple of other people got served. My turn was next. While I was waiting, someone else came to the bar and got served ahead of me. Easy mistake, I thought. While he was being served, someone else came to the bar who also got served ahead of me. I walked out in disgust. At 6'1" and 17 stone (a good 5-6" taller than those who came to the bar after me) stood at a quiet bar with my payment method ready, I could hardly have been inconspicuous. I was starting to quite like Old Harlow up until that point.

Food was poor will not be coming back to eat - pizza dough was raw - king prawn starter was served in a ramekin dish missing the bread !! Attention to detail is key and there was things missing on everything - chilli jam - wrong pizza given - cold crumble - melted ice cream given with a desert. Sorry but expect better - not a single glass collected from our table in over 2 hours.

This dog friendly pub was amazing. The service was excellent and the Sunday lunch was one of the best meals out that I have had out. I will definitely be going back again. When the music was too loud for us they kindly turned it down twice too. Couldn't fault it, exceptional.

The Crown always has a good selection of ale..the bar staff are friendly and welcoming. Live music every Saturday. Food choice very good, especially Sunday roast.. recommend booking in advance as this is very popular so you may miss out if you just turn up without booking first.

Update. Sadly the pub is going downhill. Kids and troublemakers seem to have moved from the Chequers to the Crown. Fighting, urinating, lots more broken bottles around, screaming people. George too is playing incredibly loud music in the garden without any consideration for the neighbourhood. What landlord puts a DJ in the garden for hours when folk are trying to live in their homes just a few feet away?? No staff moving people on after closing, folk screaming around full volume gone 12.30am. The way it is going, the normal, loyal locals who made it a really sound place will be walking away. ____ It's a good pub, good beer and full of friendly locals, probably the best in Harlow. The landlord George seems to deal with fights and trouble pretty swift which is much better than the last landlords, in fact George is quite impressive! I just wish though that he would send out a member of staff to collect the empty bottles and glasses every morning that his patrons leave all over the vicinity which get broken. Be nice to show a little respect to the local area or serve people outside drinks in plastic. Broken glass has damaged dogs feet here in the past, as well as being dangerous generally. Such a simple and thoughtful thing to do which isn't done.

The staff were very polite and very helpful the crown was very clean they also have a beer garden I rate it 10/10

Very decent little pub. Food options are a little limited but very tasty. I have the vegan bean chilli which was excellent. I presume their vegan curry will be equally good as the chilli seemed homemade. Meat options also available. Decent ales, all well looked after. Nice outdoor space out back (across a little rear access road with no traffic on it). There's another little bar out back. Staff are lovely.

The music in the bar was so loud we had to sit in the pub garden, stayed for 1 drink only as the garden was nice but it was getting cold.

TURN LIVE BAND OFF!!!! Its nearly midnight. Happens nearly every other sat night. People and children trying to sleep nearby. Noise is unbearable Have respect !!

Been coming in for 8 years, always had welcoming staff behind the bar, especially Jack and Jodie. Never had any problems and will continue to be my go-to for a quiet pint!

I would rate this 0 but I can't was here this evening my mother in law ordered a chicken curry it was beef I had a jacket potato with chilli the chilli was frozen my wife had no flavour to her dish also the beer is watered down please avoid this dive like the plague

A pub that has been redeveloped by the owners and is an absolute jewel. It was a “drinker’s” pub but has been reinvented as a food pub as a result of COVID. A beautiful garden and food service that is much improved. Local gem.

Really enjoyed our little visit here at the weekend! Dan went out of his way to find a space for us on a busy Saturday night, and made us feel so welcome. There is a huge garden, great atmosphere and everyone was so friendly. We had never been here before but we will be 100% returning soon!

We had a lovely lunch in the remodelled garden. The tables are well spaced a good distance apart. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good menu choice and food was very very tasty, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Not sure about all those 4-5 stars reviews, but did not feel welcome nor interested to be served. My visit was in August 2020, maybe they miss the re-opening crew. For sure the staff were un-welcoming.

Seen all those reviews, went there in July 2020, nothing impressive, not so friendly staff, was put in a corner. Did not feel welcome.

Fantastic pub both day and night. Great for a spot of Lunch during the day and a catch up with friends, food fresh and extremely tasty - they have a great chef who cater for all including vegetarians and vegans. Then at weekends they usually have live entertainment and it gets really busy but there’s a great atmosphere - do try it out you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely, warm and inviting are the words to describe the Crown. Its a nice little boozer with good food and DID have great owners. I'm not sure who has taken it over now but the last few times i've been the more interesting beers have been "off". I think as long as they keep up the past's good work it will be great! Fantastic little beer garden and when you consider the other pubs in Harlow, this one really stands out.

Very nice spot for a drink and a bite - we happened on a Sunday summer BBQ which was brilliant! Loved the halloumi cheese fries.

Best local in Old Harlow, a PROPER pub with amazing staff, regular live music, a great range of drinks and welcoming locals. If more local pubs were this good there wouldn't be one a week shutting down.

I visited the Crown after a two mile walk and stopped for lunch. This is obviously a pub which is popular with local people....always a good sign. A good selection of real ales available. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.....nothing is too much trouble for them. Despite the fact that they were in the middle of preparations for a wake later in the afternoon, I was able to have a great lunch of sandwiches with all the trimmings. The pub is comfortable and welcoming!
