1st evening visit here since it's reopening & I wasn't disappointed. The bar staff were polite & attentive which I feel is always a must. I had a real ale which is always my go to drink. They had Adnams Southwold & all 3 pints I had were very nice indeed. The establishment was very full with patrons, with a lot taking a huge interest in the game on TV, Sp*rz V Hammers!! All in all I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a old type pub with a friendly atmosphere.

Been meaning to go in the Queen Head Pub for years and expected a country pub but to my surprise, the front is a country pub but the garden is an large events area and child play area. Very well set up, different seating from long benches, rattan seats and normal picnic benches, all nicely presented. There is little parking on the street, one reason we have never stopped but there a car park for 20 cars at the rear. The pub had large TVs in both bars so I assume sport is shown. There was plenty of staff but wasn't happy when buying my second round, had trouble with card going through machine and as it went through, the bar staff just turned away, and walked away, no thank you or bye. Is that the way places are going. Couple of real ales, I had Southwold bitter and they sold Madri. We never eat but saw it sell Thai food. There is a building in the middle of patio which I assume is a bar, to best describes how it looks, is it ready for October fest event, with a play area. The sun sets at the rear so best for this late year sun.

Congratulations to the new owners it’s so lovely to see this beautiful pub open and busy again. We popped in for Sunday lunch. We had booked previously and there was a slight mix up with the time however it was quickly rectified and the staff were so apologetic. It was a great excuse to grab a drink at the bar. The pub was busy as there was football playing but it had a great atmosphere. We were sat in the smaller room to the left and we were slightly disappointed that there was a tv in there with the football on. There was no escape from football that day. If you’re not a fan I would check fixtures before booking. The room is pretty small and quite echoey so with people watching football it was hard to have a conversation over lunch. The roast itself was lovely. I opted for the Pork which was cooked perfectly with a little touch of crackling. Tasty. After we’d finished eating we made our way back to the main bar area which, even though there was football on, was a better atmosphere and nice and cosy. When booking next time I would ask to sit in the main area, if possible. Again, it’s brilliant to see this pub open again and we can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

We had booked for Sunday lunch here as a few members of our party had been before and raved about it and so we thought why not. There was 9 of us all together and they managed to fit us in to the restaurant area on a particularly warm day. We first had a drink out the front waiting for all our party to arrive which was lovely looking at the surrounding village and people watching. We then made our way to our table which was very spacious seeing as there were many of us. It took a bit of time to order our food however we weren't fussed as we were there for the duration and didn't want to rush even though we were all very hungry! Big Saturday Night out! Anyway, we ordered and the young chap was very attentive and took the order down perfectly, repeating it back to us at the end to make sure he had everything. Now it was just the wait for food which seeing as it was 9 roasts wasn't long at all. Enough time to enjoy some drinks and stories about the evening before. The food arrived piping hot and looking amazing. One roast was forgotten but the only reason I'm mentioning this is because the lovely chef came out and apologised personally to us which I thought was so lovely. He only had to wait about 5 more minutes so again I'm mentioning it because they dealt with it so well. The roasts as I said were amazing. The meat was cooked perfectly all round (I had the beef) and the potatoes were perfect too. We even got extra gravy, always needed. We then moved on to dessert. I don't usually have dessert but it was sort of a special occasion and I read the menu and couldn't resist. I ordered the Rhubarb Crumble with Custard and many other people ordered the waffles. Again each dessert was so tasty and my crumble was piping hot and lovely. After some lovely food and wine I ended my meal on a black coffee which was very strong, but after a banging Saturday night, perfect. The pub for food wasn't busy and so we didn't get rushed along or handed the bill too early. What I loved was that the chef popped out again and said that she hoped we enjoyed the food and apologised again for the missing roast. Again we weren't bothered and told her we had a lovely time,. which we did. We paid the bill, which was very reasonable and were on our way. We'll definitely be back.

We visited for lunch, a mixture of adults and children. We ordered the sharing platter among other items, we were informed that the panko breaded prawns would be replaced with filo pastry prawns. Frankly when they arrived they were clearly the cheap frozen variety. There were also items missing from the platter and the children’s food had been made incorrectly despite a specific request and when we raised these issues we were met with a surly bad tempered attitude and a grumble that the kitchen had already closed down for the lunch-dinner break. We had to request side plates and condiments, the staff seemed much more concerned with their mobile phones than offering firstly what was promised within the menu and secondly doing so with a customer focussed attitude. We will not be visiting again.

Ordered Meatballs and spaghetti and fish and chips. Waited 45 minutes for our meal to arrive, when it did the spaghetti was stone cold, waiter took it back to the kitchen and returned with it 5 mins later. It was now hot,but the meat balls were black, dry and with no sauce. Fish was also overcooked. I noticed that the new kitchen manager was spending all of his time socializing in the bar without taking notice of the people waiting for food. One other lady who was outside with her children had waited over an hour and was still waiting when we left. This is a very pretty pub very local to us. Will not be visiting again.

cannot recommend this place enough, great beer and wine and the food is limited but of a great quality, a new chef is in and he is only 21, he is going to be one for the future. Front of house is run by Clarice and she is wasted here, she could grace any high end restaurant or pub in the center of a major town and command a great wage. The only downside is the male owner, he seriously needs to go on a customer service course, he doesn't try and make conversation with new clients or returning ones unless they live in the street. we have been going for 18 months and as yet we haven't even had a hello from him. luckily we don't use him as the judge of using this place. Definitely a locals pub where strangers are made to feel as welcome as a boil on the bottom. Though it looks quite impressive from the outside, this is deceptive sort of like the TARDIS in reserve and the lack of space was not helped by a gaggle of toddlers on the loose along with an assortment of prams blocking patrons’ passage. In addition part of the pub was cordoned off for a party later that evening. Unfortunately this meant having to gatecrash said party every time one wished to use the gents’ toilet! Though the beer was drinkable we decided it was time to finish up and depart after one of the regulars decided to accuse a member of our party of using foul language. Clearly a sign that we as outsiders from the area were simply not welcome in “their” hostelry.

OK so maybe not as old as The Old Ferry Boat Inn (circa 460) this pub has the ambience of what a real English pub is all about, the ceiling beams date back some 500 years but the food, real ales and service are very much today. Tucked away from the less than salubrious streets of Harlow Town in a beautiful street this little gem seems like its not heard of the word "Gastro". Family run and brimming with original features, a typical Olde English Country pub. The menu is straight forward and unpretentious, well cooked decent grub, I can recommend the locally made sausages which were outstanding, their selection of real beer (whats the matter lager boy? scared you might taste something?) is more than varied for all but the most fastidious. I couldn't make my mind up between the Lacons Encore or the Crouch Vale Essex Boys, and I did try my best to sample both extensively!

On the second night, I ordered the chicken and mozzarella burger and decided to give the sweet potato chips another go. The burger was average and the chips were half cooked yet again. This place has the potential to be really good if the quality of the food became more consistent.

My wife and I eat at the Queens head whilst visiting friends in Harlow. It was so nice to find an unspoiled traditional country pub, serving local beers I particularly enjoyed the "Essex boy". Forget the mass produced food you get in places like Wetherspoons this is proper home-made food. I had the belly pork which came with nice crispy crackling and very well cooked roast potatoes and a nice selection of fresh vegetables. My wife had the sausages which were made in the same village as the pub which is Churchgate Street, she enjoyed them so much she would not let me have a taste. The only downside to our visit was that it was raining which meant we could not make use of the beach bar. The whole pub is very well kept with a fantastic floral display in the front and at the back in the garden

One of the best family pubs I have ever visited.... We spent one afternoon in the beer garden in the sunshine whilst the children played on the bouncy castle!!! Food is absolutely amazing!!!!! Yum yum!!

We haven't been for a while and we weren't that enthused last time. The food, when it finally arrived was quite good but we didn't expect to wait 50 mns for 2 lunches when we were the first to order and only one other couple came to eat during the lunchtime. Even with fresh prepared food (and I'm not sure it was) shouldn't take that long to serve. To start with I was served a pint instead of 1/2 pt. I could have insisted on my order but this seemed churlish. Just as well as I would have needed another drink before the food arrived. The other couple ordered food and a good 10-15 mns later were told it wasn't available. Then a little while later were also told the pub didn't have another of their requests. Surely the barman should find out what is available before taking orders? Saturday lunchtimes used to be buzzing with people. There were 3 at the bar and 4 eating. Tells you something. This pub is a nice exercising walk from our house and we used to enjoy the walk with a good lunch at the end. We will have to stretch our legs a bit further in future.

My wife and I went to the queens head inn yesterday evening after a recommendation from a family member and they were spot on. The menus has a wide choice and includes lots of local produce. There is a good choice of wines and beers and all at a very reasonable price. Add to that friendly and attentive service and this is definitely somewhere we will return
