Couzens Bakery & Coffee Lounge in Harlow

Came here to get some food and the older lady working the till was so rude. I asked her the price of a large roll and she totally ignored me. I waited another couple of mins then she looked up and said “what do you want?” I then decided to walk off and not purchase anything as her attitude was bad.

10/10 Sausage in a Bap and a cuppa. Best sausages ever. Bread was great. I even asked where they got the sausages from. Sdaly it's a trade secret.

Stopped here for morning break. The staff were friendly and the roll fresh and well filled and nice tasty toasty good value for money. Reasons for low mark was that the tables not cleared quickly and when done all crumb lots just push on the floor and not cleaned up. The place could do with a refresh as looking tired no atmosphere. Like going back to the 70’s. Still the food seen looked nice.

Sandwiches are so fresh and the cake’s are lovely. Coffee and the milkshakes are great. Lots of options on teas .Thank you

Absolute favourite bakery! Visited after the 1st lockdown to help small businesses and have become a returning customer every time im nearby! Excellent service and ham salad sandwich to die for.

My wife and I Visited for Breakfast . My Sausage and Bacon Roll was excellent and served straight away . We were a little disappointed at the wait for my wife’s Bacon Sandwich . Food tasted excellent and prices were reasonable

i now pop in every morning when working in the Harlow Centre with my cars and have door step toast and a pot of tea. always a smile from the staff and first class food every time.

We ate at Couzens a few months ago and this visit was every bit as good as last time. The staff was extremely polite and most helpful. The tables were spotless and the breakfasts very good.

A family run business, I have been to Couzens many times and each time I am welcomed with a smile, fed with lovely fresh sandwiches and cakes, tea and coffee. You can order any combination of breakfast or sandwiches, nothing is too much trouble. Stating at 5.30am to bake bread on the premises, your guaranteed fresh bread every time. My most favourite is what they call a “door step” sandwich it’s amazing. Filled with a filling of your choice, this really is a place to visit. Considering the size of the premises and the footfall, the tables are always being cleared and cleaned with staff who are so helpful and pleasant. Harlow has many fast food places to eat, but for me, my sisters and friends, Couzens is fast on serving quality and quantity. Thank you all at Couzens, Happy Christmas and New Year. The cafe was full and there was a very lively atmosphere. The staff were very polite and friendly. Our breakfasts were delivered in good time and at a very reasonable cost.

For 18 years I've been going to Couzens for a cuppa and roll and a bit of relaxing Me time. Time to just watch the world go by and chill. But also with my husband for our Saturday lunch while out shopping (and often buying a delicious cake to take home). Returning for all these years because the food is consistently excellent, the prices good and the staff nice. Highly recommend.

We have visited this bakery & coffee lounge over many years. We have always encountered polite, helpful service & really enjoyable food. Whenever we are in the area, it is always our first choice for lunch.

Went in the Harlow branch, great food great drinks, all at good prices. However what a miserable staff. No interest in what they served, not sure if would go in there again. They need interested polite staff

I have just been to this place and queued up and asked the nice lady to heat my grandsons milk up. She said she wasn’t allowed to. The manager Wayne came out and said He would only heat it up if I was to sit down and purchase items from him. When I said I didn’t want to buy anything he Then rudely walked away leaving his embarrassed staff to finish the conversation. What harm is it to heat a baby’s bottle up in a jug for free or ask for £1 if your that desperate for money. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all this is a family town be kind and think about who could potentially buy from you. I wasn’t asking for free food I was simply asking for some hot water to heat a BABY’S bottle up. He could have kept the jug behind the counter like all other places do for FREE! Money hungry that’s what you are.

The welcome was like the service all you could ask for. The tables and the floor was clean and tidy and the toasted cheese sandwich was very good. The coffee wasn't of the quality or flavour of Costa's best but it was acceptable nevertheless.

Went with other half and had coffee and sandwich. Was really nice and place had a nice vibe. All staff were pleasant and smiling. Would recommend and will come again x

Well I've been here a few times it never seizes to amaze me the number of pleasant thoughtful staff that Wayne employs and they are always happy as he is. The bakery second to none and the sandwiches etc always good value. It makes you feel good visiting their.

Had some lunch in this bakery once. Asked for a sausage sandwich and it came undercooked. Wouldn’t eat warm food from here, but the cakes / buns looked nice.

I have been here a couple of time now by myself, with my mum or family and every time I am always greeted with a smile and friendly face. The staff can’t do enough for you and make you feel very welcome. Today’s team were lovely (Marilyn, Wayne and Carol) thank you

Drop in here for a tasty treat. Great service, tasty food and reasonably priced. Always a fab choice of sandwiches and cakes, if it isn’t on show they’ll make it for you. What more could you want?

Always popular. Doorstop sandwiches to die for. Cakes also outstanding. Service always good. Staff friendly. Coffee a little disappointing to be honest unless you want filter coffee.

The food and coffee from this establishment is very good, and is no doubt the main reason why It's often hard to get a seat here. They could have premises twice the size and it still would be packed out.

Walked past this coffee shop as we entered the Harvey Centre, but impressed by the buzz around the counter, and the fact all the tables were taken. After shopping we went back, about 1 hour later, and we were lucky to get a table, it was still very busy. The coffee was very good, and the doughnuts were great. The staff were working very hard and they gave personal service to customers that had difficulty walking, and served them at their tables instead of expecting them to stand and order at the counter. We will definitely visit this Coffee Shop again.

Can't walk past Couzens when in Harlow Town, simply a must stop for a good cup of coffee with a lovely cake in a clean environment and then collect delicious sausage rolls to take home.

I absolutely love popping into Couzens for a coffee, sausage roll and a cake. Best sausage rolls for miles! And their bread is so tasty, always grab a bloomer on the way out.

The bakery was very busy, particularly with take out, but we were served very quickly and efficiently by Wayne. There is a varied choice of cakes or savoury snacks including sausage rolls, sausage sandwiches, lemon meringue pie and carrot cake plus many more.

We eat here on quite a regular basis, staff are always friendly and helpful, it is always spotlessly clean and the bread - amazing! A nice, basic menu, perfect for lunch. Toasties come with salad garnish which is a nice touch. The doorstep sarnies are lovely and soft and well filled. Highly recommended - service with a smile here!

Fantastic central location in the Harvey Centre. Superb range of breads, cakes, filled sandwiches and cafe.

Great selection of cakes, nice door stop sandwiches and a good cafe to visit when in the harvey centre (opposite wilkinson store) when in harlow. Staff helpful too.

I have recently had my lunch here on a few occasions and I am so impressed by the standard of food and the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the place. I am quite a fussy person but this little Cafe is perfect. I don't think the food is cheap but you only get what you pay for and it seems most of the food is made fresh from the little kitchen out the back. I had a rather large crusty roll with cheese and pickle and it was gorgeous and the coffee is lovely too will definitely be going back for more

Lovely place to stop for tea/coffee and a snack. Love the traditional cakes, especially their bread pudding. Friendly staff.

This is by far one of my favourite bakeries, offering a sit in for a cuppa, great homemade sandwiches even with the doorstop bread, fresh lovely filled to the brim sandwiches, fresh cooked bread and lovely choice of cakes. yummy place to go for a lunchtime snack. I rate this place 10/10.

I visit my mother in Harlow regularly and we always go to Couzens. I used to go there when I was a child so it's great to see how it has grown and been so successful in the Harvey Centre premises.

I love it here, great bacon roll! Wayne is great and always ensures the tables are clean. Lots of choice of cakes and savouries. And the bread is delicious.

Have attended this venue multiple times both to eat in and to take away the quality of the product is second to none the service is friendly courteous and always done with a smile the owner should be very proud of his staff

I frequently visit here at lunchtime as the sandwiches are amazing. I don't like butter and they always make me a fresh sandwich, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly manager.

This cafe is the little gem of Harlow. We discovered it when it was at the Little Walk and have been going ever since, now in their new premises in the Harvey Centre. The food is always so delicious and extremely good value for money. Their toasted teacakes are the best I've ever had anywhere as they are freshly made. The doorstep sandwiches are the same, always so tasty and the cakes... too good! We always pop in when in town for a pot of tea and some food. The staff are lovely, with a great sense of humour even when rushed off their feet. At peak times its very much in demand and very busy, but worth the wait!

I eat lunch here at least once a month on my weekend trips to Harlow. They have a good selection of sandwiches to choose from, which are freshly made in the kitchen. Coffee and tea is also pleasant. However, my favourite is their homemade bread pudding! My guilty pleasure! The staff are very friendly and the food is good value. The only downside is that it can get very busy and there is nowhere to sit! I recommend you pay a visit next time you are passing.

While having lunch today in your shop. I experienced a male member of staff speaking to staff in a bad manner in front of all customers in the shop. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable. This is very unprofessional and rude towards staff members, this should be dealt with in an appropriate way. I believe that the management need to retrained in leadership skills and any confrontation with staff should be dealt with in a appropriate place and not in front of customers.

Heard nothing but good things about here. I once bought a French stick for 45p which kept fresh for days which was great but however I purchased a bacon and sausage roll which is about £3... It had one tiny little sausage and one stringy bit of bacon in... For £3?

Always pop in when in Harlow the food is always made up fresh. Sausages are really tasty and great selection of cakes. Cheerful friendly staff service with a smile goes a long way.

I love this bakers. When it first opened I thought "what are they thinking of"'but I now know that while we have lots of shops in harlow town centre that don't last long this bakers is hopefully here to stay. Great quality bread and cakes. I have not used the sit down cafe bit yet though.

Always very busy so it is difficult to find seating but worth the wait. The owner is lovely and is always working like mad to keep the tables clean and everyone happy. They make a mean sandwich!

Generally the store itself looks very nice with a wide selection of things to eat. But my time there was very short lived when I was asked to leave the store because I was drinking tea out of a take away cup and not a 'eat-in' tea cup. The woman who had served me didn't bother asking if I wanted to eat in or take away so I just sat down anyway. When the I told the lady this she very rudely told me I needed to pay VAT, at which point I got frustrated and just left due to the sheer embarrassment from everyone else. Such a shame! Not the best customer service I've received.

Christmas shopping is never fun, but whenever we drop into Couzens in the Harvey Centre you are guaranteed a great cup of coffee and a tasty bun! All the other food looks fantastic too. The service is exceptional, happy, friendly staff who go that extra mile for you, recommended.
