Another fabulous dinner at the Monk. Great service very interesting and eclectic wine list. With something to please everyone. My venison was amazing as was the pork. Sadly we had no room for dessert but the table next to us had no such problem. Can’t wait to see you at Christmas.

Having been left in lurch by a local hotel I was searching for a local restaurant that could accommodate our party of 26 people. Having found The Monk via a Google search I placed an enquiry via the website initially and followed up by phone a little later. No to fully understand the complexity of this I must outline the timescales, I made the initial phone call to this establishment on Thursday evening asking if they could accommodate us for the following Tuesday evening. Simon answered the phone and, understandably so, hesitated at the possibility. My outlook, even before I made the enquiry, was not hopeful owing to the size of our group. Simon phoned back with positive news albeit with a service time a little later than we hoped for but beggars cannot be choosers right? Simon forwarded on the menu for pre-selection, clearly communicating the required timescales etc. The level at which Simon was communicating with me gave me confidence in the venue and the menu looked enticing. Fast forward to arriving at the venue on Tuesday, Fantastic setting, great vibe to the place, we were impressed as soon as we walked through the front door. Owing to the size of our group we were seated in the "The Inside Out" area of the venue which is as impressively appointed as the main restaurant area. The food was fantastic, not one of our group had a bad word (not even a minor grumble) to say about the food. The service was constant and quite frankly superb! Real credit has to go to Simon and the team at The Monk! With barely any notice at all they manged to make our experience a most enjoyable one and all at a reasonable price. Thank you all so much for making the night a success it really does mean a great deal to us. Highly, highly recommended!

A perfect place for dining out. This old cottage has a lot of character and so has the food. Tasty and recommended.

Outstanding. Ravioli first course was magnificent, monk fish and chips really nice, chocolate cremeux was exquisite, excellent service, lovely ambience.

An absolutely fantastic experience at the Monk. We booked an early evening meal for a group of 6 friends on a Saturday evening. The service was so friendly and attentive, from every single member of the team. The food was fabulous - I’d particularly recommend the tiger prawns (starter) and sea bass (main). Some great wine choices, and it was nice to see a Cava on the drinks menu along with Prosecco. We also shared a couple of desserts which were excellent, I can’t imagine you could go wrong with anything on the menu! When we needed to vacate our table, we were offered an alternative garden table which was comfortable and cosy, with outdoor heating. The staff were really accommodating, and we appreciated being able to continue our conversations and order coffees/liqueurs without heading on to a different venue in the village. I would highly recommend the Monk for a special evening with family or friends - if you’re looking for excellent service and high quality food then you really can’t go wrong here! Thank you to all the staff for a perfect evening.

The food was very nice just watch out for the extra supplements on the prawns and the beef the prawns were amazing the beef because l wanted it well done found it very dry.The staff are a credit to the monk Well done

We visited last night and had wonderful evening. Welcomed from the moment we entered right through to the handshake at the end of the night. Food, drink, service, atmosphere, even the decor all came together elegantly. Even when a mistake was made (we're all human) it was rectified instantly. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.

I'd like to send my sincere thanks to the team at the Monk for last night's dinner. Thank you so much for your flexibility in allowing us to dine despite being 30mins late due to the weather and traffic. We had the dressed Crab and moule frites as main which was one of the best we've had and the orange and white chocolate creme brûlée and chocolate parfait. The creme brûlée was exquisite in flavour. I'm not a fan of creme brûlée but that certainly won me over. 10/10, will definitely be coming back! The staff were also incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive. One thing I'd suggest is to have someone man the phone (if possible) as I tried to call numerous times to notify of our delay but no one answered.

Our first time here. The food was excellent, both in terms of quality and presentation. The staff were professional, attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I went for Sunday lunch .I am in the middle of Chemotherapy and asked to be sat away from people.On arrival we were shown to the perfect table. I order sweetcorn soup which was delicious and then roast beef which was the best either of us have eaten in much dearer restaurants with Michelin stars. Couldn’t manage desert but they looked great. Booked to go again Very much recommended

First visit based on recommendations an anniversary Sunday lunch. Parking is easy and free across the road. Quaint with low beams so tall people duck. Great Africa themed decoration. Plenty of staff well drilled and overseen by mine host. We had a mix of appetizers, mains and desserts and the feedback is everything was excellent. The star was the pork spring rolls so good we could have eaten more despite them being a well sized portion. Roasts across the range were well received and good size portions again. Everything was excellently presented and cooked to perfection. We will return.

We had a delicious meal at The Monk, the food was absolutely delicious - the steak I had was cooked to perfection and the chips were delicious and a great portion size. The cheeseboard was amazing, loved the presentation and different cheeses (the Gouda was fantastic, and loved the truffle honey)! The service was brilliant, attentive and friendly and always happy to answer questions. The wine was delicious and went well with the food. Hoping to come back again to try some more delicious food and try some of the amazing sounding cocktails!

We booked a table here for dinner since we were staying locally but didn't know the area at all. There is a free sizable public car park just across the road. We had a lovely greeting as soon as we walked through the door and were shown to our table. The waitress was so sweet and patient. The food was outstanding - beautifully presented and very tasty. The drinks were delicious and everything was reasonably priced. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable. The toilets were also clean with lots of little thoughtful additions in the ladies loo! We were there for a couple of hours and the time flew by! As things got busier, service became a little slower, despite several staff members. From what we could gather, they weren't working sections or tables which did leave us feeling a little neglected later in our meal but we were happy to sit and enjoy the ambiance while feeling stuffed with good food!

Just had one of the nicest meals out in a long time. Delicious food with a pleasing choice of mocktails and alcohol free drinks. The staff were delightful and the atmosphere calm and relaxing. Will visit again.

The Monk is a real gem. It can be difficult to find great places to eat but the Monk is exceptional. The food, service and atmosphere is top notch, so much so, it has become our favourite venue for eating out.

Just returned from an absolutely outstanding meal at The Monk. Party of 4 with multiple food allergies (many people’s nightmare) not for The Monk. They were amazing - all of us thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend

Absolutely the worst experience of a restaurant ever. We have been there a few times but the food and beer was awful. Beer lines are dirty, starters lazy. Tempura batter is sponsored by David Wilson homes. When complaining the staff basically laughed at me. Simon the boss is away. Absolutely rubbish

What a gem, wish we'd found it sooner! 9 of us celebrating a family birthday, bit last minute and we were loud and disorganised, but the staff were wonderful with us. Food was really good, both menu items and the steak specials (Wednesday night). Selection of drinks and cocktails is outstanding and the place itself is lovely, it feels modern and homely all at once. I'll be back and I'll be recommending it to friends!

Once again Simon has produced a wonderful evening. The starters of spring roll and crab were excellently spiced and scrumptious. The main course of “Wellington” done with slow cooked beef was to die for, perhaps a little more seasoning for the beef but t’was truly super. Perhaps the most eclectic wine list I have ever seen in such a cozy restaurant. Very well priced and very tasty. All in all a great time..

This place is just amazing. Beautifully presented food that packs a punch with flavours and quality of produce. The whole place has so much character and there is nothing else like it in the area. If you want something special the fixed mid week menu is superb.

We were staying in Quorn and decided, at the last minute, to not eat at our hotel and instead venture in to Quorn, specifically to The Monk. I am ever so glad we did. The menu was simple, yet I would have happily eaten pretty much anything from it. The service was pleasant, efficient, and exactly what I wanted. I can't fault a single thing. We had the three course prix fixe menu, a bottle of rosé, and some dessert wine. Incredible value given the quality of the food, drink, and service. I will most definitely visit again next time I'm in the area and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Food and service were excellent even though one starter was initially missing and then too many main courses.

Fabulous evening for our daughter's birthday. Simon and the team went above and beyond to make the occasion special. The service was amazing, the food gorgeous and beautifully presented, and the restaurant itself is charming.

Amazing. First time at The Monk and certainly not the last. Great food , best I’ve had in a very long time- we had the beef which was delicious and carrot cake, doubly delicious. Friendly and attentive server( sorry didn’t catch your name but thank you) and what a great building. All this added to a lovely quirky atmospheres. Nice to be greeted by the owner as well. Lovely evening shared with friends visiting from France. Web site a tad wanting but good communication by phone & confirmation text date reminders. Truly lovely well mannered, charming young staff ladies welcomed us & were attentive throughout. I cannot stress their value enhancing our dining experience & taking the reseach challenge of who was in the photo too 👨‍🍳 The setting was lovely, clean, bright & super lively with a chaps night out creating a fantastic atmophere. Great prompt service for the food, lovely starters, 3 good mains, chicken not quite so but very good wines. Thank you The Monk People..lovely evening !

I went to The Monk for Sunday lunch as a group of 20. We all sat in the extension area and it was wonderfully convivial. The food was excellent, I had the smoked salmon and beetroot, which was excellent and had envy for the ravioli my husband had ordered for a starter. The beef I had for my main meal was excellent. The wine choice and well stocked bar ensure there is plenty to accompany your meal. The staff are always polite and attentive and a credit to the business.

Clearly a popular restaurant. Practically full on this Sunday lunchtime. If the rating was on the food then I would have given 5 stars. The starter of beetroot cured salmon was lovely, well presented, nice quality. The roast rib of beef was very good too although it would have been better without such a large Yorkshire pudding. I noticed a lot of people seemed to leave much of this. The chocolate pave for dessert was beautiful and delicious. The only problem seemed to be coordination of the service. Yes all the serving staff were very pleasant and there were quite a few of them but there were long gaps between arriving and getting served and between courses. We arrived on time at 1.15 and were seated straight way after a friendly welcome but it was a good 15 minutes before anyone took our order. The gap between the starter and main course was a good 30 to 40 minutes.yes the staff did apologise that they were having to serve a large table before us and there would be a delay, but we would have thought most restaurants would serve a table of two before a table of a dozen or so to avoid a long wait. We remarked to ourselves that it was a good thing that we were only drinking mineral water as we would have easily finished a bottle of wine before the main course arrived. When it did finally arrive it was perfectly cooked but maybe a little on the lukewarm side. Would we return? Maybe, as the food was very good, but maybe not on a Sunday lunch time. Well done though on pleasant staff and good quality food

Food was great as was the service. Only thing that lets this place down is the lack of parking and the topless women pictures in the gents toilet which feels like you've stepped back into the 70's

What a wonderful place! Food, service and setting, is equal to any Michelin Star restaurant that I have been to in London. An absolute must, if you are visiting Loughborough or the surrounding area. Have never had a better Sunday lunch, and prices are very reasonable. We'll done all.

This was only our 3rd visit, but each time we have never been disappointed. The staff are young, but very helpful and willing, the food has always been excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, nothing seems too much trouble for anyone. Can't wait for our next visit, even though this is a good distance away, its still worth the effort.

World class food, we have visited a few times and every time the food is like magic. The service is friendly, attentive, nothing is too much trouble, the host is an absolute gent and the atmosphere is always the perfect mix of fun, classy and warm. It’s absolutely my favourite restaurant, I would recommend anyone wanting a special dining experience visit here.

We spent Valentine's evening at The Monk in Quorn, Leicestershire. From the first mouthful to the last, it was delicious. An outstanding restaurant and suitable for every occasion. The bar staff, waiting staff, chefs are outstanding and the hosts Simon and Carla are so warm and generous. Despite goes through horrendous turmoil due to the floods, the restaurant is up and running again and better than ever, if that's possible. Sunday lunches there are a must. Keep up the good work everyone, you're amazing 😍

If you haven’t been here before, you definitely should, the food is of Michelin star quality. The staff are friendly and attentive, the owners Simon & Carla are a lovely team, Simon the friendly knowledgeable wine/front of house, Carla the amazing chef, with a gift for flavour and detail that surpasses most. The place is full of quirky character that adds to the atmosphere of being `In a special place’ plus the prices for the excellent food quality & service are not what you would normally expect for such high quality. Go and check it out, you will be pleasantly surprised, and like us you will return time & time again.

Treated our son and girlfriend, both at local uni, to Sunday lunch. We all thought it was it excellent and my son said it was the best roast beef he has ever had, which we all agreed with. Every dish was well presented and the lovely desserts finished off an unforgettable meal. The staff were friendly and very attentive and must be praised for first class service. Very accommodating for a last minute table when I didn’t want to cook and fancied a treat. The service is always perfect and food delightful. My favourite is the fillet and chips which we would highly recommend. Thank you to the whole team.

My husband and myself recently dined here at a busy Christmas work function. All the staff were very attentive, the food was delicious and severed hot which was a delight as our party number was 40+. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and in an ideal location in the village with plenty of near by parking. I have told all my friend and family they must give it a visit. We will certainly returning in the new year to try the Sunday roast. Thank you

Excellent evening out. Excellent food and atmosphere. Simon is an exemplary host, his team are outstanding, on every occasion they have been friendly and welcoming making for a relaxing and most enjoyeable evening. Menu is well put together, we went on Wednesday and had the Steak Night Menu, the Chateaubriand was delicious, perfectly cooked and served. Excellent wine list to cater for all tastes and price ranges.

No communication when booking. I booked online, 2 hrs later get an email to say booking cancelled, no phone call nothing, was planning a surprise for my wife, shocking really, tried calling a few times no answer, either very busy or not organised 👎

As first time visitors to The Monk we were very pleased to find this gem! The food was simply delicious and beautifully presented - marvellous monkfish, perfect pork, succulent steaks and venison to write home about. Also, despite arriving early we were warmly welcomed - the manager/owner was charming & knowledgeable. We will be back!

All 3 courses were delicious and the non-alcoholic cocktails are also excellent. The pork spring rolls with satay sauce were crispy and the sauce was really tasty. We both polished off every last scrap off food on our plates - chicken breast and croquette with mushrooms in not-enough white wine sauce, and lamb rump with lamb/potato gratin with garlic beans. Chocolate and cherry mousse was sublime and just how a proper mousse should be - rich and velvety. Good service and a lovely place.

The food was of good quality, one of the nicer Sunday roasts in Leicestershire. Really reasonably priced for the courses and a wide selection of drinks on the menu. Unfortunately the customer service was disappointing, the staff came across as if they didn’t want to be there. Unfortunate.

Great welcome when we arrived from the team and we were shown straight to our table. Food is 1st class so tasty and nothing goes to waste. Its a popular place and from our 1st experience I can understand why its so busy. Booking is essential due to its popularity 👌 we will be returning again fully reccomend.

1st visit. Met friends for Sunday lunch.we were 45 minutes early for table but no problem as we wanted a couples of pints first.Cruz Campo on draught and Camden Pale. We all had 3 courses and food was very nice indeed.Prompt service by Lovely,friendly Waitresses. Mine host owner was very friendly and appreciative of custom. We thoroughly enjoyed the 'Wednesday Steak night'. There were some lovely touches that made the evening special. Alongside the steaks, we'd highly recommend the Rum Apocalypse(cocktail) and chocolate cherry mousse.

This was an exceptional dining experience, a big city experience in a lovely little village. Simon, the host, was engaging, knowledgeable and most welcoming. Staff were well trained and discrete. Very admirable wine list to compliment some of the best cuisine in the midlands. Top job!

A very warm welcome on a chilly damp evening. Mind your heads and tummy here. The beams are low and the decor is stylish, boujee - A selection of week day menus and a selection on delicious cocktails. I had Gin Smoked Salmon - followed by Fish & Chips. Monkfish goujons in a light crispy batter. I was tempted by the Irish coffees that were very popular… Great staff & a really enjoyable evening.

What a great place! So quirky, brilliant espresso martini, lovely staff and more importantly the Sunday lunch was right up there with the best we’ve ever had. Will definitely return when in the area!

First visit to The Monk, and it was superb. There were two vegans in our party of three and it was so nice to have a couple of creative choices that were delicious. What a lovely place to dine, with really nice and attentive staff. We will be returning.

Beautiful place, very cosy atmosphere, everyone there is really friendly, the drinks menu is very extensive. We both really enjoyed all three courses, the baked oysters were my highlight. The best cuisine and excellent value, it was all I dreamed it would be, and from the reviews ha ha....I'll be back.

My wife and I went for evening dinner. The food was great with a good selection. The monkfish main was excellent 👌. There is a nice ambience to the venue too. The only thing slight negative was being told as soon as we arrived that we only had the table until 9pm. Something we knew when we booked. Overall though a lovely place to eat.

Went to visit our son at college and booked a table for Sunday dinner. Lovely pub, quite quirky and the food was delicious. Would absolutely visit again.

Treated my brother and his wife to celebrate my sister in laws sixtieth birthday, it’s was great. The food was superb and plentiful, with none of us able to tackle a pudding. Also a great selection of wine, but buy it by the bottle, it’ll leave you more to tip the girls at the end of your visit. So to sum up great food, good wine and fantastic service.

Thought we’d try this as we hadn’t been there before. The only tables available were early so we skipped lunch and arrived to a very warm welcome, excellent service and great food. All the food was beautifully presented from the 3 course fixed menu after cocktails and a gin and tonic. We both deliberately ordered different food for each course and all 6 dishes were excellent and neither of us regretted our choices. The total bill of just over £50pp (including a nice bottle of wine) was very reasonable and we will definitely return as all aspects of the evening were spot on.

We went on a Wednesday, steak night. Beautiful piece of Chateaubriand between us, fantastic tempura prawns for a starter, and a great orange sponge pudding. Accompanied by well made cocktails and nice wine, it was fabulous. Thank you for a great evening, we will be back.

We visited mid evening on a Friday. Without a booking there was no change of a table but staff were super friendly and offered us a table outside where we sat, drank cocktails, watched the goings on of Friday night in the village centre and tried not to think about how cold it was for August (as we are British and should know better!).
